Introductory Notes: Welcome to Lu - a Thunderbirds au, the stories set in this timeline are of events that would have happened if Lucy Tracy survived the avalanche in 2047

All my Thunderbird Odds and Ends stories set before the avalanche form the backstory for this series, and some of the events that happen after will run parallel with this series with a couple of changes because Lucy is alive in this one...

I will recommend you read Family Secrets, before reading this, because that story does give you a bit of background on Lucy's family.

Title: Little Fish

Rating: T

Summary: Lu Anderson slips and falls into a pool.

Little Fish

2057

It was peaceful, under the water…

She knew she was drowning and that she probably should be trying push herself back to the surface but she cracked the back of her head on the side of the pool when she slipped because she wasn't paying attention as she was walking around it, and knocked her out cold…

"Mama?"

She looked down and saw her nearly seven year old fish of son swim up from below her.

"It's okay, Mama," he said, as he hooked his arm around her still body and started to pull her to the surface. "I've got you."

Lucinda Anderson woke up suddenly in a hospital bed, "Whoa there, easy, Lu," her father, John Anderson, who had been sitting beside her bed, soothed. "You just gave us all a fright."

"What? What happened?" Lu gasped. "Where's my little fish?"

"You slipped and cracked your head on the side of the pool," John explained. "You were lucky Gordon was just finishing up his swim practice, he was the one that dived in and hauled you out."

Lu frowned, that was right, WASP's very own Olympic champion cadet, was swimming laps at the time she was walking around the pool after her own swim… But where was her…?

Lu's heart nearly stopped, now she remembered, her little fish was gone…

Buried under a sea of ice and snow…

Never to see his seventh birthday…

When John Anderson was informed of a woman found barely alive in a helicopter crash having a DNA match to himself and his son he had been shocked to say the least.

When he found out that the woman was the same age as his son and the only way that woman could be related to him was if she was his son's twin, he had been furious, he knew that his son's mother was lying, cheating, trash, but to hide the fact that he had a daughter as well, pushed him over the edge.

But the answers he demanded were denied to him, because his daughter had no memory of who she was, only an ID card with her picture on it that stated that she was Lucinda Malcom, even though she only responded to being called Lu, and a Tattoo around her ring finger that read 'Jefferson.'

The doctors stated that Lu's memory loss was due to mental trauma that she did not want to remember, and that her mind was shielding her from the pain, eventually her memory would probably come back to her when she was ready to deal with the trauma she had experienced.

Lu had suffered physical injuries from the crash as well, and she had to spend months in rehab, Doctors even had to reconstruct some of Lu facial features due to the crash, which they based off of the photo they had of her.

It was amazing that she had somehow managed to survive the crash, because everyone else on the helicopter perished.

When Lu was released into John's custody her last name was changed to Anderson, because every time someone called her Malcom, she had a hostile reaction to it.

This was not the only time Lu would have a strange reaction to something random, like when Liam tried to teach her how to navigate with the stars, Lu had a very adverse reaction to it, and then pointed out and proved that she already knew how to do so, when Liam asked her who taught her, she completely shut down.

The same thing would happen when she was asked who Jefferson was, came across anything to do with Mars and the Moon, which was something Lu had to overcome, because the Moon plays a big role in Mer culture, planes and flying.

Even randomly hearing a certain name's would throw her for a loop.

The day she first met Gordon Tracy, she nearly had a complete mental breakdown, it was a couple of weeks before she could talk to the confused boy without crying.

John now looked his daughter, who was now crying silent tears in her hospital bed, "Lu, sweetie," John questioned. "What's the matter?"

"He's gone…" Lu moaned. "My little fish…"

John realising his daughter was remembering something decided to push her to hold onto the memory, "Lu, who is your little fish?" He asked gently.

Lu stared at her father, confused, "My son…?" She replied. "My son…" she frowned. "He's my son…?"

John's heart sank, the Doctors had pointed out the possibility that Lu had a family before, and it was looking like something had triggered Lu's memory of her child, "Lu, can you tell me what happened to your son?"

Lu started to shake, "He was buried in the snow…" she whispered. "That bastard buried him in the snow…"

John's face went white, was his grandson murdered? "Lu," he demanded. "Who is this bastard you're talking about?"

But Lu was already shutting down, and she refused to answer the question.

Gordon Tracy ducked his head into Lu's hospital room, the next day, "Hey, Commander Anderson mentioned that you woke up," he commented. "So, I thought I would check in a see how you're doing."

Lu smiled at the boy, aside from the fact that his name had a tendency to trigger her memory issues, he was a lovely caring young man, with a sense of humour that was very similar to her own, she could see why her father and brother had high hopes for him, "I feel like I have been smacked over my head with a baseball bat, and my chest is sore," she replied. "But I should consider myself lucky that you were there to pull me out and that you knew how to clear the water out of my lungs, thank you."

"Thank my father and grandmother for insisting that I learn first aid," Gordon replied, as he came in and sat on the side of the bed. "Although, my second oldest brother is better at it than I am."

Lu's father looked at Gordon, "Speaking of your father," John commented. "Has there been anymore progress in locating him?"

Gordon shook his head, "While we are still hopeful that he will be found the more time goes on…"

John nodded, "I understand," he replied.

Lu looked at her father and Gordon questionably, "What happened to your father, Gordon?" She asked.

"Huh?" Gordon asked. "I thought you knew."

"Your father's first name is one of Lu's triggers," John pointed out. "Chances are she blocked out everything that was said after hearing his name."

"Oh," Gordon replied, "Dad tried to stop an experimental space craft from being hijacked, and there was an explosion…"

Lu looked at Gordon in horror, "And you haven't been able to locate him?" She asked.

"Or any of the wreckage of the ship he was in," Gordon confirmed. "But it's a big ocean out there, and considering there are things in the deep that ordinary humans don't even know about, there's still a chance right?"

Gordon's voice didn't sound convincing and Lu's heart broke for the boy, she knew that his mother died when he was young, to also have his father go missing…

She patted Gordon's arm, gently, "Your parents would be proud of everything that you have accomplished in their absence," she replied. "I'm sure of it."

Gordon blushed, "I think there are couple of things they would disprove of," he replied.

"Like somehow managing to saran wrap the toilets in the teachers bathroom?" John teased.

"Allegedly," Gordon replied, with a grin on his face.

Lu laughed, then winced, while her memory may have more holes in it than Swiss cheese, she did remember the time Liam had come home venting about that incident.

Gordon's phone, suddenly went off, "Sorry, I better take this," he muttered. "I don't want my Smother Hen oldest brother going AWOL and coming here in a flap, because I missed his call."

"He's the one in the airforce isn't he?" John asked, more for Lu's benefit than his own, Lu knew that Gordon had several siblings, but every time he would talk about them, her own personal issues would be triggered, and she would lose track of the conversation…

Gordon nodded, "He's currently based in Germany," he replied. "Flying recon missions over Bereznik."

Lu frowned, Bereznik had been causing all kinds of trouble for the world lately, with their terrorist activities escalating in the past year, their biggest coo being the attack that claimed the life of the third man to step foot on Mars and his wife, which led to the world council to declare war against the rouge state, "You better answer him," she ordered. "And tell him to stay safe."

"Yes, Ma'am," Gordon replied, as he stood up. "Hey, Scott, sorry about the hold up, I was visiting a friend…" Gordon's voice faded as he left the room.

Lu frowned, as a vision of a soaking wet young brown haired boy, dragging a equally as wet smaller blonde haired boy behind him, the formal attire the boy's were wearing suggested that they weren't supposed to be wet, "Mom!" The brown haired boy called out. "Gordy, went swimming in the fountain!"

"Lu?" John asked, ending the vision. "Are you remembering something?"

"Yes, no, Maybe?" Lu replied. "It's seems like every time I'm around Gordon, something in my memory stirs."

John frowned, "Maybe, we should have him around more often if that's the case," he mused. "What do you remember?"

"Two boys," Lu replied. "I think one went swimming where he wasn't supposed to and the other fished him out."

"Do you remember anything else about the boys?" John gently pushed. "Their names or their relationship to you?"

Lu tried to remember, she really did, but it was the same story of her mind shutting down, as soon as she faced a painful memory, she growled in frustration, and shook her head, "I'm sorry," she replied. "I can't."

John patted his daughter's hand, "Give it time," he said. "It will come to you eventually."

Lu frowned, that's what her father always said, it annoyed her to no end, for her to remember random events and how to do things without the context behind it or have an extreme reaction to somebody's name or event, like how she reacted to hearing about the death of the astronaut and his wife that started the Bereznik war, she had reacted like she had lost one of her closest friends and she was asking about their children, by name, before the news reports even mentioned them, but as soon as she was pushed on her reaction, she couldn't give an answer to why to she was behaving the way she had, "Yeah…" she muttered.

"Eventually…"

Notes: The events of the day of the avalanche happened very differently (Well obviously Lucy survived) than the way it happened in the Odd's and Ends timeline… And a lot of Lu's trauma is linked to that day.

Jeff, also has a tattoo on his ring finger of Lucy's name…

There are a couple of reasons why Gordon doesn't recognise Lu, I've already given a clue to one of the reasons, but there is another more sinister one as well.

The Mars Astronaut and his wife that died in the terror attack, is Tom and Ann Metcalfe, Paul Metcalfe's parents.

Paul's parents dying in a terrorist attack is something that is actually canon to the New Captain Scarlet series (I'm not 100% sure if the group responsible hasn't been mentioned, but for what I'm doing having the Berezies be the ones at fault works for me), Paul's choices as a result of those events was what led Paul to meeting Conrad when they ended up in the same unit.
