Chapter 5

He wanted a bride

I was making my own name,

I broke his heart 'cause he was nice.

Picture perfect, shiny family.

When the couple got there after a short drive over. They bursted through the doors. And made their way to the principal's office.

They saw their daughter seated on one side and another girl seated on the other. Before going inside the office.

And taking seats in front of the principal who was a woman.

"Beautrice has never given us a problem before. And we are open to moving on from this. But she will need to apologize to the other girl."

"Either in person or write it in a note. Otherwise she will get detention. We have a zero tolerance policy and we don't know what was said between the girls but they had to be pulled apart." The prinicipal explained.

The couple then made their way out of the office and Beautrice followed them outside and into the car.

"I need you to tell us what happened here B?" Lucas asked.

Looking back at his daughter.

"She's not a nice girl i don't care that she was upset and i would do it again." Beautrice replied.

Lucas wasn't sure how to respond to that. He hadn't expected such a answer.

"All you have to do is say you're sorry and we can forget this."

"Otherwise you'll have detention." Brooke explained.

"I'm not apologizing. I'll take the detention." Beautrice replied.

"This isn't behavior we expect from you at all."

"What's going on?" Lucas questioned.

"She said mean things about Lennon and i wasn't going to take that and i didn't." Beautrice replied.

It was then that Lucas started to drive again.

...

"We can't let her get detention over this." Lucas said. As he closed the door to their bedroom.

"Her apologizing is not happening." Brooke replied.

"People are going to say things we don't want to hear. That doesn't give us the right to react how we want." Lucas replied.

Brooke glared at him. "She was defending her brother or would you rather just join in like Callum is doing?" She questioned.

Lucas sighed deeply. Retreating to his home office. The pair weren't going to agree on this but there had to be a solution.

...

Callum wouldn't be home until later. Between practice and having dinner with his friends. Brooke volunteered to stay home with Beautrice. So that left Lucas to pick up Lennon from school.

And once the boy got into the car.

Lucas looked to him. "I need you to try to fit in more."

"To be like the other boys. It's becoming a problem Len." He confessed.

"Okay." Lennon replied.

Callum underneath the basketball. Popularity and friend group was actually really insecure. No one really knew that. He needed to be seen a certain way in town around people.

While Lennon knew who he was. He was well aware that him being so authentic caused him to be in the spotlight. Which didn't help given who his parents were already.

So he decided to bury this side of himself.

Only revealing it with one person. Who he didn't have to pretend for. And that was Beautrice.

...
