Welcome to chapter 2

Alex was exhausted of people after Chloe's tantrum about having a boy in her house. William leads Alex up stares. "Just give her a few days, Alex I'm sure she will come around to you." He said as he opened a door to a small room with only a bed. "I know it's small but it's the only room we have. Alex didn't mind that he didn't really need a room but he would play along. "It's fine, mister. Price the room is more than enough." Alex says as he walks in. It was barely big enough for a person to live in and had no windows. William felt guilty about the small room and vowed to help Alex make it better; he knew a bit about building things after all so increasing the room wouldn't be too out of his skill set. "Good night Alex." William says as he walks out to his own room.

Alex liked the small family. They were all honest people though the Chloe situation needed to be fixed. Alex flops in his new bed mentally exhausted from playing human so he spends the night in his mind quitting the voices in his head.

A week later and Chloe got a cat bongo it was terrified of Alex as most animals were. "What are you watching?" Alex asked with his head tilted watching an up right coyote chase some kinda bird. Chloe looks back and scoffs. "Cartoons dude, you know roadrunner?" she says. Alex had never seen cartoons before sure he had devoured people that had but that was hazy and muted now for some reason. He blamed it on the nuke and his lack of biomass. "I… see. So this coyote chases the bird to eat it but never gets it. How is that possible? Why not just set a trap a bit up the road like a tar pit no animal can get out of a tar pit." Alex asks as he watches the coyote fail yet again. Chloe rolls her eyes. "Well roadrunner could, he's awesome and the coyote is just really dumb. Not to mention the good guys always win." Chloe says matter of factly. "I see." Alex says even if the concept doesn't make sense. He sits next to Chloe to watch the show to analyze it and see why humans seem to love it so much.

It was a month later when William took the family plus max out for a camping trip. Alex liked the woods; it was quiet and full of life mostly untouched by humans. "Alex, would you give me a hand?" William asks from next to the tent he was setting up. Alex nods and walks over to help him. "Ok so all you-" William stops and stares at Alex as Alex effortlessly puts up the tent as if he has done it hundreds of times. "Wow, didn't know you went camping before." William says. Alex looks away cursing himself for not playing his role right. "Oh… um yeah me and my dad used to go." Alex says.

Later that night Chloe and Max got lost in the woods. "Shit Chloe! Max! Come out it's getting dark, this prank isn't funny young ladies!" William yells out. But they don't hear a response. "Dammit Chloe, get out here!" Joyce yells mad and worried. Alex activates his thermal vision to find them as he looks around he finally spots them about a quarter mile away with a big bear looking over them as they are frozen in fear. Alex, not thinking twice, sprints in their direction using his full speed. He slides in front of them in only a few seconds, scaring the girls and bear. Alex glares at the bear, his eyes glowing red. "Back off!" He growls. The bear, like all animals, was terrified of the monster in front of it and ran off. "H-holy shit Alex, that was hella awesome!" Chloe says after she calmed down. Alex sees Max peek out from behind Chloe with a soft smile. "Y-yeah Alex we would have totally been goners if you hadn't shown up." Max says. Alex smirks. "It's what any good brother would do." Alex claims. Chloe rolls her eyes. She doesn't see him as a brother but maybe they could be friends as long as he doesn't infect her with his cooties.

They walk back to the camp. As they cross the tree line a distraught William and Joyce pull all three kids into a big group hug.* "Chloe, what were you thinking running off like that?!" Joyce asks/ screams at her daughter as she wipes her tears. "S-sorry mom, me and Max saw this awesome butterfly and followed it then we got lost and then this huge bear showed up but then Alex jumped in out of nowhere and was all like back off and it ran away. It was awesome." Chloe says scared and nervous at first before getting excited. William sighs. "Chloe, you're grounded for a week." He says. Chloe pales and looks ready to argue when Joyce says. "Chloe drop it you ran off that's extremely dangerous just be lucky Alex found you and Max. And if you even try to weasel out of it I'll add another week." Chloe shuts her mouth with a pout but nods. "Thank you Alex if not for you we might have lost our little girl." William says as he pats Alex on the shoulder grateful for him. Alex had never been thanked before it felt… nice. The family spent the rest of the camping trip roasting marshmallows.

And that's chapter two. Thanks for reading this mess. I know it's probably really bad but I am new to writing and it's especially hard to write this part as I can't exactly make it seem realistic but that's just life. Have a great day.
