Chapter 3: Destiny's Fusion
Akiza walked over to a newly opened café, She saw Luna wave to her from one of the outside tables and Akiza went over and sat down at the table, Luna was finishing her plate of strawberry shortcake and Akiza noticed a similar plate of food in front of her. "I got your message Luna, what do you want to talk about?" asked Akiza. Luna wiped her face with a napkin before responding "Can you teach me how to duel better?". "Akiza raised an eyebrow, "I thought Duel Academy was teaching you-", "I know, duel academy is pretty good at teaching me, but you, you're a signer, the black rose-" Luna stopped herself from finishing that sentence, "the point is, you are one of the greatest duelists I have ever known, and I know you can teach me more than duel academy ever could, you were one of the top duelists without even going there. That speaks volumes of how great you are". Akiza chuckled, "Stop, you're making me blush". Akiza finished her cake, as she was about to pay Luna payed for her, "You see Akiza, with your help, I can become stronger than duel academy could ever make me. If you want to, I'll even pay you for lessons", Akiza shook her head and smiled "you don't need to pay, think of it as a favor between friends.". Luna smiled and nodded.
Akiza then spoke again, "But I'm confused, why ask me this now?", Luna's expression slowly darkened "To better prepare myself if I face Iliaster. And to also help save my brother ... or avenge him if he's-", "Don't say that, your brother isn't dead" said Akiza, "it's okay, I'll teach you how to duel better for when we face Iliaster again", Luna smiled "Thanks Akiza, you're the best.". After a while Luna and Akiza eventually left the café to start the lessons, Akiza not knowing the real reason why Luna wanted these lessons.
*With Leo*
(Rare hunter: 2000-Leo: 2000)
Leo was nervous to say the least, he was sent back so far in the past, and the rules of the game at this state were bizarre to even him, one of, if not the smartest student in his school, and on top of that he has no idea what deck he's using at all and he can't synchro summon, not at this state of the game anyway. Plus with very little life points, any mistake will reduce his life points drastically. He stared at the rare hunter and steeled his spine. As they drew their hands Leo heart dropped, these monsters were horrible. "I'm taking the first move!" shouted the rare hunter as he drew his card, I'll summon out Vishwar randi in attack mode!

Leo's panic was soon replaced with confusion as the rare hunter summoned his monster, but soon it clicked, of course the monsters he had in his hand were bad by his standards, back then even having a Hitotsu-Me Giant was considered pretty good. 'Perhaps this won't be too bad after all, but I need to still be very cautious' though Leo. "I'll now place two cards facedown and end my turn" said the rare hunter. Leo then drew his card, "very well, I shall call upon this creature, big insect!

"Now destroy his Randi!" shouted Leo.
(Rare Hunter: 1700-Leo: 2000)
'Only 2000 life points per player, my options are to slowly chip away at them or summon something powerful to a big chunk out of them, so far the first option is all I got' thought Leo. "I'll now place a facedown card and pass the turn to you"
The rare hunter then smirked, "as I draw I'll activate my trap jar of greed, letting me draw another card! Now then little kid, watch as I fuse my two monsters together! I play polymerization, fusing my giant solider of stone and ancient elf to form mystical sand!

Leo began to chuckle confusing the rare hunter, "Mystical Sand? That's a witch, that looks nothing like sand. Although I wonder if Anakin Skywalker would still not like it?", The rare hunter was clearly irritated by this "Either way it has more attack points than your worthless monster, now attack his big insect!"
Leo smirked, "I activate my trap negate attack! Now then this card has a verrryyyy complicated effect. It takes your monster's attack and negates it making my monster safe" The rare hunter's expression turned into one of anger as he saw Leo chuckling, "How about you shut that smart mouth of yours and, go!", "As you wish" said Leo as he began his turn. 'meteor dragon, this will definitely come in handy' said Leo as he summoned it, although it was level 6 since he was this far in the past he had no need to tribute for it.

Gerald looked worried, sure Meteor dragon was a strong monster, but Leo summoning it now instead of waiting for later to use its true power made Gerald believe the dragon ill-used. The rare hunter on the other hand laughed before crossing his arms, "That's not gonna work kid, Mystical sand has more attack points!". "Oh I know, but what if I do this, I play horn of the unicorn giving meteor dragon 700 points!"
(2500 atk/ 2700 def)
"Now then, your life points by the end of this turn will be on the brink! Meteor dragon attack his mys-", The rare hunter then shouts "Not so fast, I activate mirror force destroying your two monsters!". Leo's smile was wiped off his face almost instantly as his two monsters were instantly destroyed. "And since your dragon was equipped with that horn, it returns to the top of your deck, meaning that you won't draw anything useful next turn!", "Well, I have one thing that can actually bypass that, pot of greed! Allowing me to draw two cards!" retorted Leo, 'So I got that horn of the unicorn, and this king of the swamp monster. this is going to be more difficult than I thought, if I can just survive this next turn I can probably come up with something if I'm lucky' thought Leo as he nervously looked at his deck, "I'll set one card and end my turn", All Leo could hope for now was that the facedown he set would help him survive.
Gerald began to sweat, but he wasn't giving up hope yet. Seeing as if Leo fell so would he per the rare hunter's terms. Shadi on the other land looked on expressionless watching the two duel. Although he could sense something off with Leo, it was as if the boy was not truly there. The rare hunter then drew his card. "Looks like another polymerization, I'll activate it fusing my mystical sand and my summoned skull to form scale witch of fusion!"

Leo took a step back eying the impressive behemoth, terror in his eyes, this creature could more than wipe out his life points even if he had a weaker monster on the field. "And if you somehow survive this turn kiddo, guess what? This monster can deal damage to your life points even if you summon something in defense mode!". Leo and Gerald's eyes widened even further. "W-well then, come at me! I don't care if that monster has 100,000 attack points, as long as I'm breathing I'm not giving up!" said Leo. Gerald and Shadi both impressed by the boy's sheer amount of hope and determination, while the rare hunter just disregarded it. "Yeah sure whatever you say. To ensure victory I'll summon Winged Dragon Guardian of the fortress!"

The rare hunter's then looked at Leo with a sinister look, "First I'll attack you directly with my winged dragon taking out a nice chunk of your life points!"
(Rare Hunter: 1700-Leo: 600)
Sweat began to drop from Leo's brow as the rare hunter prepared his final assault, "I'll attack you directly, squashing your remaining life points and ending this duel!" shouted the rare hunter, "sorry to disappoint bro, but you and your little witch monster of yours will have to wait! I play the quick-play spell command silencer! Your attack is negated and I can draw a card!" replied Leo as he drew a card. "So you stalled me again huh, no matter. This duel is over, even if you have the fourth blue-eyes white dragon you can't defeat my witch! My turn is done, as will you be!"
Leo looked at Gerald before looking back at his deck, on a wish and prayer Leo drew the last card with his eyes closed and hoped with all of his soul that the card he pulls can get him out of this mess. As he opened his eyes a smile appeared on his face as he turned to the rare hunter, "Maybe I don't need to beat your witch! You see thanks to command silencer I got this reliable card here, monster reborn! So welcome back meteor dragon!

The rare hunter just laughed at Leo, "even in defense mode it won't save you. Even if you attack my winged dragon I'll still have enough life points left". "Well then, I guess I should take a page out of your book and activate my own polymerization! I merge Meteor dragon with my king of the swamp! You see king of the swamp has a unique ability of it being able to substitute a specific material for a fusion monster! And as you know there is a famous monster made from the fusion of Red-Eyes Black dragon and Meteor dragon, now lets rev it up!" said Leo using Yusei's signature phrase, unknowing causing the eye on the millennium scale to glow, "Come on out Meteor Black dragon!"

Gerald smiled as Leo figured out the true strategy of his deck and raised his fist in the air "Yeah! I knew you could do it old sport!", Shadi although unable to truly sense Leo could feel the hope from the boy as if the boy had a boundless amount of it, and he also saw the Millennium scale's glow, whether or not the boy noticed was unknown, but Shadi was certain it was this boy who was destined to use the Millennium Scale. The rare hunter on the other hand, had his look of confidence replaced with fear, "That monster while powerful is just barley enough to defeat my scale witch of fusion!", "True, but that's not what I'm aiming for!" said Leo as he turned to look at the rare hunter's winged dragon, the rare hunter turned pale as he realized what Leo's was going for, "You can't!" screamed the rare hunter only to be met with a smirk from Leo as the glow of the millennium scale began to glow brighter. "Oh but I can, and I'll do it right now! Meteor black dragon attack his winged dragon and end this duel with a bang!".
(Rare Hunter: 0-Leo: 600)
The rare hunter cried out as his life points reached zero. After he composed himself he just ran leaving his deck and the millennium scale behind. As he bolted for the exit Shadi stepped out, the rare hunter shoved him out of the way running through the city until he saw a few police officers, clearly here for him. The rare hunter was quickly taken into custody after the police discovered him responsible for the recent string of card theft.
Back at the warehouse Leo was overjoyed that he won, as he was about to hop down from the duel arena he turned and saw the millennium scale. It's figure almost mesmerizing, its color like golden caramel freshly made and its patterning like a fine Egyptian statue, it was as if the scale itself was an intoxicating temptress beckoning Leo. Leo went and grabbed the scale and held it like a kid who got a massive present for his birthday or Christmas, sure he knew about the millennium items and saw photos of them, but actually holding one was a whole other story. 'Maybe this is the key to get home' thought Leo. "Hey, hey Leo!" shouted Gerald interrupting Leo from his train of thought, "Lets go!". Leo nodded and jumped down still holding the scale.
As Leo and Gerald exited the two began to walk back to their house, out of the corner of his eye Leo then saw four familiar faces running towards the Kaibacorp headquarters, he remembered their faces from the history books he read, Yugi, Joey, Tea, and Tristan. 'I ... I know what this is!' thought Leo. He turned to Gerald, "if you don't mind, I'd like to go for a little walk", Gerald nodded "Alright kid, don't worry I won't lock ya out", Leo then thanks Gerald slowly follows the four to the Kaibacorp headquarters, eager to witness one of the greatest moments in duel monsters history with his own two eyes
