On the platform of the Avengers Tower, Spider-Man and Ghost Spider looked speechless, while staring at Tony, Capt. America and Thor.
"Wait... What did you say?" Spider-Man asked, confused.
"I said, we'd like to offer you both a spot on the team." Tony explained.
The Spider Duo stared at the three of them, as Capt. America and Thor nodded to confirm Tony was serious.
"But... Are you sure?" Ghost Spider asked.
"We're sure, Ghost Spider." Tony said. "We think you've both earned it."
The Spider Duo turned to each other, more confused, then back to the Avengers.
"Come inside, my friends." Thor said. "We can discuss this inside."
The three Avengers turned and walked towards the door, as the Spider-Duo turned to each other.
"You did hear what they said, right?" Ghost Spider asked.
"Yeah." Spider-Man said. "This is something we defiantly need to think hard about."
"Agreed." Ghost Spider said. "Let's go."
They both walked towards the door, as the three Avengers walked into the tower.
At the South Bronx Waterfront one of the Hydra Agents, wearing a hat and headset radio, was looking down a street, waiting for the truck the generator was in. He looked at the traffic, but saw it was just cars, with two buses and an armoured car.
"This is Kohl, no sign of truck yet on red route." he said, touching his headset. "I repeat: No sign of truck on red route."
(Another area)
On Neill Avenue in Morris Park, another Hydra Agent, who was wearing a cap with his headset radio, looking around at the traffic, seeing only cars and a few bikes.
"This is Dravin, I can't see the truck on the blue route." he reported, touching his headset.
He turned left, then right, seeing the traffic was very heavy, like it was in rush hour.
"Looks like rush hour here." Dravin added. "I doubt it'll be coming this way."
(Another area)
At the Parkchester area, in Westchester Avenue, another Hydra Agent, who had spikey black hair, and was wearing a leather jacket and a headset radio, was looking around at the traffic, seeing only cars and a bus.
"This is Kaminsky, I've got nothing... Wait a minute?" he said.
He saw something big in the distance, but he couldn't tell if it was a truck or a bus, as it was too far away.
"I see something, but I'm not sure if it's the truck." he explained. "I'll report again when it gets closer."
(The Helicopter)
Crossbones and the pilot both looked around.
"Any word?" Crossbones asked.
"No sign of it on the red and blue routes." the pilot explained. "We're still waiting on word from the yellow route. Kaminsky thinks he spotted something, but he's no sure."
"Well, good." Crossbones smirked. "The truck should be in the Bronx by now anyway."
(Westchester Avenue)
Kaminsky looked down the street at the big vehicle in the distance, as it kept getting closer and closer. After two minutes of watching, he saw it was defiantly a truck, before it hit a red traffic light, making it stop.
"Well, it's a truck." he thought. "But I better wait till it passes by, in case it isn't the one we want."
He leaned against the wall of the building he was near, then began to whistle as people passed by him. Once the light turned green, the truck moved along the road with the traffic, then passed by him, with him spotting the words 'Stark Industries' on the side.
"Gotcha. This is Kaminsky, I've spotted the truck." he reported. "It's on the yellow route."
(The Helicopter)
"Are you sure?" the pilot asked.
"Yes. It's taking the yellow route." Kaminsky explained. "It just passed by me."
"Yellow?" Crossbones said. "Good. Have all the men move towards that route to intercept on my signal."
"Yes, sir." the pilot said, saluting.
He began to fly the helicopter away towards the yellow route.
Back in the Avengers Tower, the Spider Duo stood in the conference room with the Avengers - expect Clint, Sam and Dr. Pym.
"You can take your masks off, you two?" Tony said. "We know who you are."
Spider-Man and Ghost Spider both looked at them all, as Spider-Woman took off her mask and approached them.
"They know, you two." she explained. "Me and Natasha didn't tell them though."
"They already knew, web-heads." Natasha explained. "We didn't know though the time we first met. They only told us afterwards."
The Spider Duo sighed and took off their masks, showing their faces to the Avengers.
"Geez. You two really are young." Bruce noted.
"Yeah. Jess wasn't kidding when she told us that Sam was only slightly older than you two." Carol said, folding her arms.
"Where's Sam and the others anyway?" Gwen asked curiously.
"Hank's working on something for us right now." Janet explained, looking at her engagement ring slightly.
"And Clint and Sam are away checking something out for us." Natasha explained. "They won't be back till tomorrow."
"Right." Gwen said, folding her arms.
Janet and Bruce both turned as the clock struck 6pm.
"It's time for the News." Janet said. "And it's Jameson's broadcast that's coming up."
She turned to Peter and Gwen, who both stared at her.
"Look, we all know he doesn't say anything true about you two." Janet assured. "But, there has also been other stuff he's reported that has helped us slightly."
"We often check every News broadcast in the city - not just Jameson's." Natasha explained. "It's just his is the one about to start."
"Well, that cheers us up slightly." Peter said, as Gwen nodded.
Tony pressed a button on his armour, then all ten heroes turned to the screen, seeing Jameson's latest News broadcasts.
"I don't know how or why people don't believe me, but the Spider Duo are menaces. If the rumours about them dating are true, they're this city's Bonnie and Clyde!" he roared.
"Bonnie and Clyde?" Carol chuckled. "That's a good one, I'll admit."
Peter and Gwen turned to her, not impressed.
"Those two belong in jail like everyone other creep in this city." Jameson continued. "I don't know how the Avengers and the Fantastic Four would think otherwise. How do we know they weren't working with that Trask guy during his Sentinel Rampage two weeks ago!"
"Ouch." Janet said. "Now that's rough."
"Sure is." Steve agreed.
"And I'm saying this one more time for today; the Spider Duo belong behind bars! This is J. Jonah Jameson, signing off." Jameson finished, before he vanished from the screen.
Peter sighed and lowered his head, as Gwen touched his shoulder, as the eight Avengers turned to them.
"How can you even work for that Jameson if he keeps telling lies about you two, Peter?" Janet asked. "I mean, we've seen you two in action, and you're nothing like that."
"To be honest, I only took it at first since I thought no one else would be able to get pictures." Peter admitted. "And in fairness, I figure it's the only job I can keep in order to help my Aunt pay the house bills. We really struggled after my Uncle Ben died."
"You think if there was ever a crime nearby, you'd get fired by your Boss for leaving without reason?" Steve inquired.
"Yep." Peter sighed. "It wouldn't really help, and my Aunt May would be angry if I kept getting fired for slacking off."
"Well, I can see that." Jessica said. "If you really have to help her with the bills so you don't lose your house, I guess it makes sense if you can't keep another job if you're needed as Spider-Man."
Peter smiled at her as she touched his shoulder.
"Not to mention taking pictures of yourself does have an advantage." Carol noted. "You can get angles other people can't."
"Well, I'm surprised Jameson doesn't see the good you guys do?" Bruce said.
"Part of that's because of his wife." Gwen explained. "She was murdered years ago by thugs in masks."
"As such, that's partly why he sees us as menaces." Peter sighed. "But, even he's admitted there's bigger menaces than us - Scorpion and Venom for example."
"Well, at least he knows if someone's worse than you two." Natasha said.
"So, about our offer to you two, what do you say?" Tony asked, changing the subject.
"Tony, they need time to think!" Jessica snarled. "It is a big decision after all."
"She's right, Tony." Steve agreed. "They should be given time to think about this."
"Ah, you're right. Both of you." Tony sighed. "If you want, you can wait outside the room and discuss it between yourselves?"
"Thank you, Mr. Stark." Peter said. "That would help."
"It sure would." Gwen agreed.
They both turned and left the room, then Gwen closed the door behind them, as they began to discuss Tony Stark's offer.
In the city, the truck was moving along Overing Street, as one Hydra Agent spotted it, who had red hair.
"This is Red, it's heading down Overing Street." he reported into his radio.
The Hydra helicopter flew down over the area, seeing the truck moving along the road.
"We see it, Red." the pilot said.
"Is the trap in place?" Crossbones asked.
"Yes, sir. The trap is ready on Maclay Avenue." the pilot explained. "That's where it's meant to go, according to the route."
"Once it turns into Maclay Avenue, we spring the trap then." Crossbones said, punching his fists. "Time to get this party started."
The truck kept moving along the road, as Red looked at it
The truck turned into Overing Avenue, as the driver listened to Aerosmith music on the radio.
"Hmm?" he mumbled happily, nodding.
He kept driving and humming, while a man on either side of the street looked at each other. They both nodded, then the one on the left approached a traffic light, just as the light turned red.
"Prefect." he thought.
He began to slowly cross the street, as the truck began to slow down, then pulled over in front of the traffic light.
The helicopter flew over the area, as Crossbones looked down at the street.
"Well, talk about timing." he said. "Is everyone in position?"
"Yes, sir." the pilot said. "They're just waiting for the signal."
"Then tell them to begin." Crossbones began, cracking his knuckles.
"All units, move in and spring the trap." the pilot ordered.
On the ground, the Agent crossing the street was halfway over the road, when he stopped and turned to the truck.
"Huh?" the driver muttered.
All around the truck, various Hydra Agents came storming into the street, then the one in front of the truck brought out a sidearm and fired it repeatedly.
"AHH!" the driver yelped.
He ducked down just before the bullets hit him, smashing the front window open, then some went into the seats. The Agent stopped firing just as the helicopter landed nearby, as many civilians in the street ran off, then Crossbones got out of it.
"Good job." Crossbones smirked, punching his fist.
The driver sat up and gasped at the sight of him, then he got out of the door and slammed it shut. He turned to run away, but four Hydra Agents blocked his route, including Kohl.
"Going somewhere?" Kohl asked, pointing a gun at him.
The driver gulped, as Crossbones came towards him, along with the pilot, while Kaminsky, Dravin and Red all stood with the other agents.
"Well, well, well, what have we here?" Crossbones smirked.
The driver turned around before Crossbones picked him up by the jacket.
"Too scared to fight, eh?" Crossbones smirked. "Is it because of my appearance, or because you're outnumbered?"
The driver gulped.
"Well, boys, let's show this man why Hydra will soon rule the world." Crossbones smirked. "I think this coward won't squeal on us to Tony Stark, if he can that is."
The Hydra Agents all laughed as Crossbones threw the driver away, smashing through a window on the right side of the street.
"AH!" he moaned.
He rolled onto his chest as everyone kept laughing, then he lifted his head up.
"Well, boys, time to bag the generator for the Red Skull." Crossbones smirked. "Dravin, Kohl, open it up."
"Yes, sir." they both said.
The driver ducked down and turned around.
"Good thing we all have one of these." he thought.
He brought out a small device with a button on from his jacket, then pressed it, sending a signal off to the Avengers Tower.
In the Avengers Tower, Peter and Gwen both stared at the Avengers as they came back into the conference room.
"Have you had enough time to decide?" Carol asked.
"Yes, we have." Peter answered.
"So, you kids in or not?" Bruce asked.
Peter and Gwen turned to each other, then to the eight Avengers.
"Well, um-" Peter began.
The alarm went off in the room, getting everyone's attention.
"JARVIS, what it is?" Tony asked.
"The truck escorting your generator has been attacked by Hydra Agents." JARVIS explained.
"In which area?" Tony inquired.
"Maclay Avenue in the Bronx." JARVIS answered.
Tony sighed as he turned around.
"If Hydra gets that generator, who knows what they could do?" Bruce said.
"He's right, Tony." Steve said. "We better get over there and stop them."
"Right." Tony said, before turning to Peter and Gwen. "You web-heads with us? We could use the extra help since we're three short."
Peter and Gwen turned to each other.
"Okay, but we'll give you our answer afterwards." Peter said.
"If that's okay with you, Mr. Stark?" Gwen asked.
"Okay, fair enough." Tony said.
"Right. Avengers Assemble!" Steve said.
All but Peter and Gwen ran out of the room, who both turned to each other.
"Well, guess we have more time to think about it." Gwen said.
"Yeah. Come on." Peter said, putting his mask on.
He ran off as Gwen put her mask on and ran after him.
At the Police Station Capt. Stacy worked at, Capt. Stacy was behind his desk, looking at a report while drinking some coffee. Also on his desk, were papers telling him about the recent crimes in the city. He kept reading the report he had as he put his cup down, when he heard a knock on his door.
"Come in?" the Capt. said, putting the report down.
The door opened up, and Lt. Watanabe popped her head into it.
"Sir, did you know we were getting a new transfer today?" she asked.
"Yes, I did." Capt. Stacy said, getting up, as he'd been told about that last week.
"Well, the man's outside, sir." Lt. Watanabe explained. "He's here to see you."
"Okay, send him in?" the Capt. asked.
Lt. Watanabe turned left. "You can go in." she said.
She moved away from the door, which opened up, showing Sgt. Jefferson Davis coming in.
"Capt. Stacy?" he said, shocked.
"Sgt. Davis?" the Capt. said. "This is a surprise?"
"Likewise, sir." Sgt. Davis said. "When I applied for the transfer, I never thought you'd be my new boss."
"Well, glad to have you on board, Sgt." the Capt. said.
"Thank you, sir." Sgt. Davis said, saluting.
"Sit down?" the Capt. asked, sitting back down.
"Thank you, sir." Sgt. Davis said, sitting down opposite him. "I suppose you wanted to know why I transferred?"
"Yes, I do." the Capt. assured.
"Well, my son's school was trashed a couple of weeks ago, and my wife was offered a better workplace." Sgt. Davis explained. "I figured that, with her getting a better place to work, and with her volunteering at that new shelter, making us move, I might as well transfer here so I don't have to travel miles to work."
"Makes sense, I guess." Capt. Stacy understood. "Your son alright with this?"
"Well, I'm not sure, due to the whole moving thing." Sgt. Davis said. "I just hope he gets used to it."
"I'm sure he will, Sgt." Capt. Stacy hoped.
Sgt. Davis smiled, then turned and saw the back of two pictures, that were both on the Capt's. desk.
"Can I look at these?" he asked.
"Sure." Capt. Stacy said.
Sgt. Davis picked up both pictures and turned them around, one showing the Capt. and his wife Helen, the other with him and Gwen.
"That your wife and daughter?" he asked.
"Yes." the Capt. sighed. "It's just been me my daughter Gwen though since my wife Helen died."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Sgt. Davis said. "How did it happen?"
"Cancer." the Capt. sighed. "She managed to fight it for four years before it finally got to her though."
"Sounds like a tough woman." Sgt. Davis commented.
"Thanks." Capt. Stacy said. "It's been over six years since it happened."
"And you've never-?" the Sgt. began.
"No." the Capt. sighed, shaking his head. "No one can ever replace her. I'd rather be a widower or have her back than be with someone else. She was my one true love."
"Sounds like me and my wife." Sgt. Davis said. "We're the same. If she died, I doubt I'd find someone who can replace her."
He looked at the pictures, seeing the resemblance between Helen and Gwen.
"I can see the resemblance between them both." he said, putting the pictures down.
Capt. Stacy looked at him, then picked up the picture of him and Helen, remembering all the fun times they had together. He put the picture down, then picked up the one with Gwen see, knowing she was growing up and becoming just like her mother.
The door opened up, getting both Cops attention, as Lt. Watanabe came in.
"Sir, there's a disturbance at the Bronx area." she explained. "They want some of us to assist."
"Okay." Capt. Stacy said, getting up. "Might as well start earning your pay here, Sgt. Come on."
"Yes, sir." Sgt. Davis said.
"You're in charge here, Lt., since Jean's got the night off." the Capt. explained.
"Understood, sir." Lt. Watanabe said, saluting.
Capt. Stacy saluted, then he and the Sgt. both left the room, on their way to the Bronx.
At the Bronx, Crossbones and the other Hydra Agents all stared at the truck, as Kohl and Dravin finally managed to pry open the back door.
"Finally." Kohl sighed.
"It's about time." Crossbones said. "Now, let's take a look at the generator."
He, Kohl and Dravin all got into the back of the truck, then stared at the generator, before they got out of it.
"It's the real deal all right." Crossbones said. "Time to get this thing out of here. Once we get it back to the base, the Red Skull will be pleased with our results."
All the Hydra Agents laughed before they all heard a jet noise, making them stop.
"Did you all hear that?" Dravin asked.
"Yeah." Kaminsky said.
"I know that noise." Crossbones said. "It's the Quinjet."
"I think our driver friend sent a signal to Stark before he ran off." Kaminsky realized.
"I knew we should've killed him!" Red growled.
"Not if we had something to say about that!" came Capt. Marvel's voice.
Crossbones and the Hydra Agents all turned to see the eight Avengers, all suited up and staring at them all, standing by the Quinjet - Bruce hulked up - while Capt. Marvel and Wasp hovered in the air.
"You're not getting your hands on my generator, Crossbones!" Iron Man warned, pointing at him.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the Mighty Avengers?" Crossbones scoffed. "We was wondering when you'd show up, didn't we boys?"
"Yeah." some said - including Kaminsky and Dravin - as the rest nodded.
"You mean you were expecting us?" Capt. America inquired.
"Bingo, Mr. Stars and Stripes." Crossbones smirked. "And we're prepared for to deal with you all, right boys?"
The Hydra Agents all laughed, when the Spider Duo landed in front of the Avengers, both in a three-point stance.
"It's not just them!" Ghost Spider roared, getting up.
"You've got us to deal with too!" Spider-Man said, pointing at them.
"The Spider Duo?" Crossbones snarled. "I've been wanting to meet you for some time."
"Oh, are you a fan?" Ghost Spider teased. "We're flattered."
"I take it you heard about us from Taskmaster?" Spider-Man joked.
"Something like that." Crossbones said, cracking his knuckles. "I have to say, you kids in pyjamas really caught our Boss' attention after that."
"Okay, for the record, we do not sleep in our costumes." Spider-Man said offended.
"But what about you, you sleep in that skull mask of yours?" Ghost Spider joked.
"AHH!" Crossbones growled. "Get the generator out of here!"
The pilot nodded and ran towards the helicopter, but Iron Man fired a beam from both his hands, destroying it.
"Oh, no you don't." he said, as the pilot stopped. "Like I said, you're not taking my generator to the Red Skull."
"We'll see about that, Stark!" Crossbones snarled. "If you want this generator back, you'll have to go through us!"
"Hulk hoped he say that." Hulk snarled, punching his fist.
"Right. Everyone, let's stop these Hydra creeps!" Capt. America said.
"Hydra, destroy them!" Crossbones ordered.
"Hail Hydra!" the Agents yelled.
They all charged at the Avengers, who charged back at them.
Capt. Marvel jumped and shot towards one, punching him with both fists, knocking him away.
"Ah!" he moaned, hitting the ground out cold.
Capt. Marvel hovered in the air, then flew towards one who fired his pistol at her, before she grabbed him by the shirt.
"Hey!" he complained.
"As Rogue would say 'I'm tired of putting up with garbage like you'!" Capt. Marvel snarled, grabbing his pistol.
She crushed the pistol to pieces, then dropped the man down into a dumpster beneath her, knocking him out.
"Never thought I'd quote the woman who nearly killed me." she thought.
Thor flew up towards the sky while spinning Mjölnir around, then he looked down at four Hydra Agents.
"Have at tee, you fiends!" he yelled.
He aimed Mjölnir at them all, shooting lighting at them all, making them scatter as it hit the ground. Thor then flew towards them all, then knocked two away and out cold as he landed on his feet. He then punched the third in the chest as he came at him, then whacked the fourth's belly with Mjölnir, knocking him to his knees, then onto his chest.
Ghost Spider jumped over Dravin, who tried to punch her, then she landed behind him as he turned around. She dodged a kick from him, then ducked under a punch from him, then moved back as he tried again. She back flipped away as he tried to punch her again, then she dived forward and kicked him with both feet, sending him flying away as she landed in a three-point stance.
"And he's outta there!" Ghost Spider whooped.
She turned around to another two who came at her, then webbed them both up, making them fall onto their sides.
"And you're not getting up." she teased.
"AH!" they both moaned.
Wasp approached Kohl and two others while hovering in the air, then she flew down and spread her arms up. She shrunk down in size, then tripped one up onto his back, then returned to normal size. She then flew up into the sky as Kohl and the other brought out and fired pistols at her, before she soared down towards them both and punched them both in the belly, knocking them away.
"AH!" they moaned.
Kohl hit the side of a building, while the other one hit a lamppost, knocking them both out.
Spider-Woman jumped over a few, including Kaminsky, then landed between a circle of six of them. She elbowed ones chest as it came up behind her, then she kneed his face, knocking him back into another, then she kicked his chest, knocking them both down. She then back flipped and kicked a third's chest, knocking him back, before he tripped up onto his back, then she landed crouched down. Two more came at her, then she ducked and skidded between them on her knees as they both tried to punch her, before she put her hands on the ground, then split kicked them both in the back, knocking them down, before she got up and stared at Kaminsky.
"Come on?" Kaminsky dared.
Spider-Woman smirked and dived towards him, then touched his shoulder, shocking him with her Venom Blast.
"AGHHH!" he yelled.
Spider-Woman back flipped away from him, as he fell onto his chest, out cold.
Capt. America rammed one with his shield as he came at him, knocking him against a mailbox out cold. He then turned and used his shield to deflect bullets from another three, one of which hit ones forearm.
"Ah!" he yelped, dropping his pistol as he clutched his forearm.
Capt. America moved slowly towards them as the other two kept firing their pistols, then he pulled his shield away and kicked one in the chest, knocking him back. He then spun around and whacked all three with his shield, making them dizzy, causing them to collapse onto their chests.
Black Widow spun her batons around while surrounded by five Hydra Agents, including Red. As two came at her from either side, she jumped up and split kicked them both, knocking them down and out. She then whacked a third's chest with her right baton, then got behind him and kicked him in the back, knocking him into the fourth, causing them both to fall onto the ground out cold.
"And now it's just you and me?" she smirked, turning to Red.
"I can take you on by myself!" Red snarled, cracking his knuckles.
He charged at her, then tried to punch her, but missed as she spun around on her tiptoes, then she whacked him in the back with her left baton. He stumbled slightly, then turned around to her, before she stabbed him in the belly with both batons.
"AH!" he yelped.
He fell to his knees while clutching his belly, then Black Widow raised her right leg up and knocked him down onto his chest with it.
"You were saying?" Black Widow smirked, crossing her batons over.
Hulk jumped up and dived down towards two of them.
"Hulk smash Hydra!" he roared.
He dived down and smashed the ground near the two Agents, the impact knocking them away.
"AHH!" they yelled, diving to either side of the street.
One smashed through a window of a building on the left, while the other hit a wall on the right, making him fall onto his chest on the path. Hulk huffed and turned as another came at him with a taser.
"Let's see how you like this, mean-green?" he snarled.
Hulk huffed and grabbed him by the forearms and held him up, making him drop the taser.
"Uh-oh." he gulped.
Hulk smirked and slammed him into the ground, knocking him out cold.
"OH!" he moaned.
"Oops." Hulk said, hoping he hadn't killed him.
Iron Man and Spider-Man both got on either side of Crossbones, then Iron Man shot beams from his hands at him. Crossbones dived to his left, making them miss, then he turned as Spider-Man shot a bunch of web-balls at him, but he ducked down behind the truck, making them all miss.
"Is that all you got, you wall-crawler?" he joked.
Iron Man flew down and stopped near him, getting his attention, then he flew towards him. Crossbones dived down onto his belly, making Iron Man miss, but then he turned around and grabbed Iron Man's right leg.
"Hey, what the?" he gasped.
"Time to crack your armour open." Crossbones smirked.
He slammed Iron Man into the ground, cracking his armour slightly, then he lifted him up and spun around. He then let Iron Man go, causing him to fly away.
"Oh, man! My boosters are damaged!" Iron Man gasped.
He kept flying off, before he hit the ground on his back, as Spider-Man stared at him.
"Iron Man!" Spider-Man yelled.
Crossbones turned to him, then he approached the web-slinger.
"It's your turn." Crossbones smirked.
Spider-Man glared at him, then jumped up and dived towards him, moving to punch him with both fists. Crossbones however held up his forearms, blocking them, making Spider-Man back flip away.
"Ow!" Spider-Man yelped, shaking his hands.
Crossbones came at him, then extended a knife from his wrist gauntlet, then tried to stab Spider-Man with it, but missed as he dodged to his left. Spider-Man then tried to kick him, but missed as he dodged, then he got behind Spider-Man and kicked him in the back, knocking him away.
"AH!" he yelled.
He hit the ground and rolled over, then he got to his knees and rubbed the back of his head.
"Okay, so not my best idea." Spider-Man mumbled.
He looked up as Crossbones laughed at him, before he saw Wasp flying down towards him behind Crossbones.
"Looks like you're not so tough, web-head." Crossbones smirked. "You've lost!"
"Wrong, you've lost, Crossbones!" Wasp yelled.
Crossbones turned around as she flew over towards him, then fired her sting blasts at him, hitting his chest.
"Ah!" he yelped, stumbling back.
Spider-Man got up and jumped away, as Capt. America's shield hit Crossbones from behind, knocking him forward, then Capt. Marvel flew over and grabbed him by the chest.
"Hey, put me down, you freak!" he demanded.
"As you wish, skull-face!" Capt. Marvel joked, dropping him.
"AGHH!" Crossbones yelled.
He hit the ground hard on his back, then Spider-Man and Ghost Spider both webbed him up as he tried to get up.
"You're stuck to the ground." Ghost Spider joked.
"AGH! What is this stuff?!" Crossbones demanded.
"Just our webbing." Spider-Man joked. "And don't brother, that's stronger than most, so you're not getting out of there."
The Avengers all gathered around near the Spider-Duo.
"Well, that's all of them." Black Widow said.
"I concur." Thor agreed. "I looked from the sky, and there doesn't seem to be any more here."
Sirens were soon heard, making everyone turn, as several Police Cars came down from either end of the street.
"And it looks like the Cops are here." Spider-Man said.
Once the Cop cars pulled over, the Cops inside all got out of them, which including Capt. Stacy, Lt. Watanabe, and Sgt. Davis.
"Looks like you've all bought yourselves a one-way ticket to jail." Ghost Spider joked, turning to the Hydra Agents.
Capt. Stacy approached the Avengers.
"I'm surprised you're all here." he said.
"It was my generator they were after, Capt.." Iron Man explained.
"Oh, I see. Well, we can take it from here." Capt. Stacy assured.
"You better let SHIELD handle this, Capt.." Capt. America advised. "These are Hydra, not just a common gang."
"Okay. At least let us guard them until SHILED shows up?" Capt. Stacy asked.
"Fair enough." Capt. America agreed. "Wasp, Thor, stay here with the Police until SHIELD arrives, just in case!"
"Understood, my friend." Thor said.
"You got it, Cap." Wasp nodded.
"Everyone else, back to the Tower!" Capt. America ordered.
The Avengers - expect Thor and Wasp - all ran towards the Quinjet, with the Spider Duo right behind them all, ready to head back to the Avengers Tower. As they did, Sgt. Davis looked at them all, before turning to Lt. Watanabe.
"Is it always gonna be like this with Capt. Stacy?" he asked.
"No, not quite." the Lt. assured. "The Spider-Duo perhaps, but not the Avengers."
"Well, glad to know that." Sgt. Davis said. "My son's a crazed fan of those two, so this will shock him.
Later, in the Avengers Tower, Tony, Steve, Jessica and Carol were in the conference room, looking at a holographic recording of the battle.
"Well, I see what you mean, Tony." Carol said. "They really are good enough."
"Still, it's their decision." Jessica reasoned. "You can't force them to join."
"I know, Jess." Tony said.
"Besides, did you talk about this to all of us?" Jessica asked. "I mean, does Clint, Sam and Hank know?"
"They do, Jessica." Carol assured. "Tony and I talked to them all before they left. Clint was a bit hesitant, but he admits they're not as a cocky as he thought they were when we first met them...expect for you that is."
"Very funny, Carol." Jessica scoffed, folding her arms.
"Other than that though, Hank and Sam are okay for having them onboard." Carol said. "After we've shown them this, I think they'll agree even more."
"Since they're science geeks, I guess Hank thought they might be able to help us in the labs as well." Tony deduced. "Sam though, probably because he wouldn't be the youngest anymore."
"I wouldn't agree with Sam, Tony." Steve said. "Hank through, I can see."
Jessica sighed and folded her arms.
"You okay, Jess?" Carol asked. "I thought you'd be happy to have them onboard, since you're all Spiders?"
"I would be, Carol, but there's more." Jessica sighed.
"What do you mean?" Carol asked.
"You might say, due to us all being Spiders, I have a certain connection with them." Jessica explained. "Especially since we've all known pain in losing family."
"All of you?" Carol inquired.
"Peter told me Gwen's mother died six years ago." Jessica explained. "It's just her and her Dad."
"Guess you three do have more in common than your powers." Steve joked.
"Did you just joke, army?" Carol asked.
"Hey, it's just once." Steve assured.
They all turned as the door opened, and then saw Spider-Man and Ghost Spider walk towards them, who both took their masks off.
"Well, glad to see you, kids." Tony said. "We really apricated the help you gave us in helping rescue my generator."
"Tony's right. You both did good out there." Steve said.
"Thanks, Capt. America." Gwen said, blushing with embarrassment.
"So, about my offer to join us; are you in?" Tony asked.
Peter and Gwen turned to each other, then back to the four Avengers.
"Well, look, while we apricate the offer, Mr. Stark, our answer is no." Peter said.
The four Avengers in the room were shocked.
"No?" Tony inquired. "But-"
"We're serious." Gwen said. "We can't just leave our friends and families behind."
"Yeah, and unlike all of you, we can't go public with our identities." Peter said. "My Aunt May and Gwen's Dad would be-"
"Peter, we get it." Jessica said. "And my identity isn't known unlike the rest."
"Are you really sure about this?" Steve asked.
"We're sure, Cap." Gwen answered.
"But you can consider us allies to you at least." Peter said. "If you really need our help, we'll come."
"So, you'll accept reserve membership at least?" Tony inquired.
"Yes." Gwen said.
"Something like that." Peter said.
The four Avengers turned to each other, then nodded.
"Okay. If that's your decision." Steve said.
"But look, Peter, Gwen, we would like you to do something else for us at least?" Tony asked.
"And what's that?" Gwen inquired, folding her arms.
"We've started up this Jr. Avenger program, with SHIELD helping us to train them." Steve explained. "If you don't wanna join us full-time, we'd like you to keep your eyes open for any possible young heroes who might be interested?"
Peter and Gwen turned to each other.
"Who's in charge of it?" Gwen asked.
"Daisy Johnson, Gwen." Jessica explained. "You remember her?"
"The woman who disguised herself as our school's Liberian?" Peter inquired.
"Yep, but she doesn't do that anymore. She's now in charge of all the training they'll go through." Jessica explained. "She already has a couple of recruits, but not many."
Tony typed on the computer, bringing up images of Daisy and two other people. One was an African-American teenage boy in an outfit similar to Steve's, expect his chest and shield had a bird symbol on, and red goggles over the eyes. The other was a Pakistani-American teenage girl, who wore a red and blue outfit, with a blue eye mask, and golden bracelets and a lighting symbol on the chest. The names beneath all three of them said, Daisy Johnson, AKA Quake, Rayshaun Lucas, AKA Patriot, and Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel.
"Hmm? Defiantly a bit small." Gwen noted.
"We only just started, Gwen." Tony explained. "It was opened up the day after Trask was arrested."
"So, what do you kids say?" Carol asked. "Will you help us with this at least?"
Peter and Gwen turned to each other, then nodded.
"Okay, deal. One condition though?" Peter asked.
"And what's that?" Tony asked.
"If the person happens to be a Mutant, we send him or her to the X-Men instead." Peter said. "They know how to train up people like that more than you guys. No offence."
The four Avengers turned to each other.
"That...would make sense." Carol said. "Rogue told me she had no control of her powers at all when she put me in the hospital. But now she has complete control of them."
"Okay, kid, it's a deal." Tony said, holding his hand out.
Peter shook it, then Gwen shook it, before the couple both turned and walked off, leaving the four Avengers alone.
"I really thought they'd make good additions." Tony sighed.
"Hey, I'm sure they'll help us if we really need them, Tony." Jessica assured.
"Jess's right." Carol agreed. "We can put them on the reserve roster at least, in addition to them helping us with the Jr. Avengers."
"Yeah. You're right there, Carol." Tony agreed.
"And you know where to find them, Jess?" Steve asked.
"Oh, I do, my friends. I do." Jessica assured.
As Peter and Gwen walked down a hallway, they passed by Dr. Banner, who looked up at them.
"You two make your decision?" he asked.
"Yeah, we did." Peter said. "And our answer is no."
"But we are gonna help you if you really need us, sir." Gwen assured.
"Well, I can understand that." Bruce said. "You're not the first to refuse full-time membership."
"We're not?" Gwen inquired.
"No. Follow me and I'll show you." Bruce said, turning around.
He walked off, then the couple followed him, before he opened a door up, then they all walked inside.
"Have a look at the pictures?" Bruce asked.
Peter and Gwen turned and saw pictures of the Avengers on the wall, but some also had a few other people. One had someone in a sliver and grey version of Iron Man's suit, expect it had cannons on the shoulders, one was dressed in a black suit that resembled a panther, and the third was a woman with green skin and hair, wearing a white and blue outfit, with matching boots, and the letter H on the waist.
"Who are these people?" Peter asked.
"This is Black Panther, War Machine, and She-Hulk. Like you two, they aren't full-time Avengers, only our allies." Bruce explained.
"Well, why?" Peter asked.
"For various reasons." Bruce sighed. "She-Hulk's my cousin actually."
"She is?" Gwen inquired. "Wow."
"Yeah. She became that after I transferred some of my blood to save her life." Bruce explained.
"Desperate to keep her alive, huh?" Peter inquired.
"Yeah. Oh, by the way, Trask's trail is due next week." Bruce said.
"How do you know this?" Gwen asked.
"My cousin Jennifer's been appointed prosecutor against him." Bruce explained.
"She-Hulk's a lawyer?" Gwen asked, impressed.
"Yeah." Bruce answered. "When I told what happened and everything Trask had done, she volunteered at once."
"So, what do the other two do?" Peter asked.
"Black Panther's the king of the country of Wakana, so he can't leave due to his title." Bruce explained.
"Makes sense." Gwen reasoned. "I mean, he can't just leave his kingdom is that's the case."
"And War Machine's an old friend of Tony's, who was in the Air Force. Now, he serves as Chief of Security for Stark Industries." Bruce explained.
"So, he has to make sure Mr. Stark's shipments are secure, and guard every demonstration he makes?" Peter inquired.
"Yeah." Bruce said. "Just thought I'd show you both since you're not the only ones who aren't full-time Avengers."
"Well, we appreciate it, Dr. Banner." Gwen said.
"Anyway, we better get going." Peter said. "We've still got curfew after all."
"So, go on." Bruce said.
Peter took Gwen's hand as they both left the room, as Bruce stared at them both.
On Monday, Peter and Gwen were in Midtown, outside their lockers, getting their books to start the day.
"I've got English first, then Science." Gwen explained. "You?"
"Well, I've got Maths first, but Science second." Peter said. "So, I'll see you then, Gwen."
"See you later, Peter." Gwen said.
She kissed his cheek and walked off down the hallway, then Peter walked off in the other direction. As he did, he spotted Anya coming towards him, looking at her schedule.
"Hey, Pete, where's that new kid you asked me to help around?" she asked.
"I haven't seen him, Anya." Peter said honestly. "There's a chance he's not here yet or he's lost."
They both looked around, before Peter spotted Miles looking around ahead of him.
"Miles, over here!" Peter called.
Miles turned and sighed at the sight of Peter, before walking over to him and Anya.
"That's the kid?" Anya inquired.
"Yeah, that's him." Peter said, as Miles stopped near them. "You okay, Miles?"
"Yeah. Is this the friend you told me about?" Miles asked, looking at Anya.
"Yeah." Peter said. "Miles, this is Anya. She'll be showing you around."
"Hi." Miles said, holding his hand out. "Nice to meet you."
"Likewise." Anya said, shaking his hand. "As Peter's told you, I've been in your shoes, so I know what it's like. I'll help you get around here."
"Thanks." Miles said. "I got my timetable; I just need to know where to go for first lesson."
"Well, what lesson you got first?" Anya asked.
"History." Miles sighed.
"Well, that's mine too." Anya said. "Come on. I'll show you around after we've had it."
"Thanks." Miles said.
They both turned and walked off down the hallway, as Peter did the same, on his way to Maths class.
A/N: One of the main sub-plots in this season, will have Peter and Gwen meeting new heroes and having them join either the X-Men or the Avengers training program, due to what they are. It will also introduce two more Spider heroes to help Peter and Gwen, as to who through, you'll have to wait and see.
Also, I've decided to name my Marvel Earth 862484.
