Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 3 of Sparkle. I want to thank those who have left reviews for this story. It truly does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story. I can't wait to show you guys what will happen next. We now have Kyo in the story. I know you guys are probably curious about how Yuki and Izumi are going to end up together. I have quite a bit of ways to make the two fall for one another. Will the truth come out about Izumi being a girl and not a guy? We'll find out soon enough. I hope you like this next part. We're starting chapter 2 of the manga. Without further ado Chapter 3. ENJOY!

Chapter 3

Izumi blinked a few times as she tried to grasp what was going on.

"He turned into a cat. He was just a boy a moment ago. Is it my fault because I bumped into him. I hit him so hard that he became a cat?" Tohru exclaimed in shock, holding the orange cat firmly in her hands.

"Tohru I don't think that is fully possible for that to happen." Izumi said as she watched her sister panic about turning a boy into a cat.

"Anyway, we have to get him to the hospital. He needs medical treatment."

A piece of wood fell from the ceiling hitting Tohru on the top of her head causing her to stumble forward into Yuki and Shigure pushing the two of them into Izumi as well.

Poofs could be heard as Shigure and Yuki both vanished.

Izumi's eyes widened knowing that this was not something normal that they stumbled into. Her brain rushed through many thoughts but this was not one of them. There was no way that humans could turn into animals. There was just no possible way.

Tohru picked up all the animals and rushed towards the front door.

Izumi followed her sister. "Tohru slow down… you have a bump on your head and it's not making this situation any better." She said trying to get her sister to stop from running to the front door.

"They're all animals!"

"Huh? Oh yes, animals. So Sohma-san has some pets huh? That'll be 1600 yen." The delivery boy let out a laugh. "That's one bright dog. Well thank you as always."

Izumi let out a breath leaning against the wall looking at the animals and Tohru who held onto the package that had been delivered.

"Guess who screwed up first, you stupid cat!" Yuki grumbled as he looked at Kyo with narrowed eyes.

"With you guys changed too, she's not gonna buy any excuse… Same with him." Kyo snapped looking at Shigure and Yuki.

Shigure let out a bark before letting out a breath. "It's no use. Instead of trying some lame cover up, I'll be straight with you. In short, I'm the Dog, Yuki is the rat and Kyo Sohma there is the cat. We're all possessed by animal spirits. And ten more people in the Sohma family are similarly possessed."

Izumi pursed her lips together in thought as she looked at the animals.

Tohru looked up at her sister in surprise.

"The ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the ram, the monkey, the rooster, and the boar. Yes, just like the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac. For hundreds of years, members of the Sohma family have been possessed by the same twelve animal spirits that are in the zodiac. That said, it's not like we have amazing powers or anything. Though we can communicate in a sense with our fellow animals. For some reason the transformation is triggered when our bodies grow weak or when a member of the opposite sex hugs us. After a time we automatically turn human again, naked.."

Izumi moved quickly, turning Tohru away from the three naked men. Her eyes snapped shut, her cheeks flushing red in embarrassment. This was the weirdest day that she has had so far and it probably wasn't going to change any time soon. She could hear the rustling of clothing being put back on. "Is it safe to look again?"

"Of course it is." Shigure said with a small smile.

The two girls looked back at the boys who were now back in their clothing.

"I'm sorry you had to see that. Do you feel better now?" Shigure said, looking at the two of them.

"Yes, though that was a lot of information to process." Tohru admitted softly.

"I have to admit that this is probably the weirdest thing that we've ever heard." Izumi said softly, crossing her arms.

"But it doesn't explain something to me." Yuki admitted softly. "Tohru didn't fully bump into me to change. I bumped into Izumi." Yuki looked over at the young woman that stood there.

"I get that a lot of being mistaken for a man." Izumi said, letting out a breath. "I wouldn't be surprised that you would have thought I was a guy. I'm Tohru's twin sister… not brother."

Yuki blinked in surprise. "You went around the entire time being mistaken for a boy?"

Izumi shrugged her shoulders. "My figure doesn't quite help me with this. I wear the boy school uniform because I talked to the principal into allowing me to wear the uniform instead of the girls." She let out a breath. "It's alright that you thought I was a boy… it's not like I make it public."

"So that explains why Yuki changed." Shigure said thinking. He looked at Tohru. "By the way, Tohru, you said you wished you were the year of the cat. What do you think after seeing the real cat?"

Izumi looked over to where her sister looked now with happiness.

"What's he like?" Tohru asked curiously.

"What else can you say when someone so well versed in martial arts can be taken from behind so easily. You'd think he would've at least sensed your presence. How is he going to take responsibility for this situation?" Shigure leaned against the table looking at both girls. "I tell you, that boy only has eyes for Yuki."

"Don't make it sound like that!" Kyo snapped, turning his attention to them. "It's not my fault! I didn't notice her. Anyway what's she… What are two girls doing in the house?"

Izumi narrowed her eyes at Kyo.

"Shut up." Yuki said firmly, not even looking at Kyo. "What's it to you whether there are two girls here or not? You're an outsider to begin with."

"Shut your mouth!" Kyo said as his fist slammed through the table causing it to break and hit Tohru in the forehead.

"Tohru." Izumi said, pulling her sister back to look over her sister.

"Tohru you're bleeding."

"What bleeding."

Izumi turned Tohru to face her. "He's right you're bleeding." She looked at Shigure. "Do you have a first aid kit?"

Shigure nodded his head. "Yes, I'll go and get it."

Yuki backhanded Kyo. "I knew he was stupid, but not this stupid."

"Yuki…" Izumi said softly, surprised that he was standing up for them being here. Her heart clenched in her chest nervously.

Shigure returned with the kit to help Izumi with the bleeding wound on Tohru's forehead. "Here we are."

Izumi carefully took it from him. "Thank you." She said softly as she tuned out what was going on around them. She was more focused on Tohru. "This will sting a little bit." She began to clean the wound on Tohru's head.

Tohru winced a little as Izumi cleaned the wound.

Izumi brushed Tohru's bang's back to look at it. "Good news is that it's not that deep." She said as she carefully put a bandage on Tohru's forehead.

"Sohma-kun…" Tohru said, trying to move forward.

Izumi grasped her sister's arm, shaking her head.

Shigure let out a breath leaning back some. "Don't worry about it. Those two are like a flame and gunpowder. Get them in a room together, and all they do is fight. I bet seeing Kyo has given you second thoughts about your year of the cat wish."

"Shouldn't we stop them?" Tohru questioned concerned about the two fighting cousins.

"Nah. I'm sure they're almost done. As always, Yuki will win."

Izumi looked up to see Yuki kicking Kyo through the door. She blinked wondering why the two of them would fight like this. Granted she knew some families fought but this was taking a whole new level.

Shigure let out a breath. "Don't you start wrecking the house too, Yuki."

"I didn't think he was going to fly that far. He must've put up zero defense. Honda-san, how's your injury?"

"I'm totally fine." Tohru said, waving her hands.

"It may not be deep Tohru, but it can still bleed quite a bit." Izumi said, crossing her arms looking at her sister. "So what about your douchebag cousin?"

"Oh, I'm sure that he's okay."

Izumi let out a soft hum.

"School! I'm gonna be late!" Tohru said, shooting up to her feet.

Izumi let out a breath looking at the watch she wore. "Yeah and we made a promise to mom to not miss school." She said getting up on her feet.

FRUITS BASKET

"School, but your uniform is all muddy Tohru." Shigure said in surprise.

Tohru ran her hands over the muddy uniform. "It'll be fine. I'll just say I fell down."

Izumi came out dressed in her slightly cleaner uniform. There were slight muddy spots on the lower pant legs. "I don't think that will work out all that way, Tohru." She said as she ran her hand through her hair letting out a soft breath.

"Sorry that we have to leave at a time like this. But we really got to get to school." Tohru said, bowing her head.

"You did make a promise to your mother." Shigure said with a wave of his hand knowing that both girls needed to get to school to learn. "In the meantime, I'll inform Akito, the head of the family about all this. After all, you know the Sohma Family's greatest secret now."

"The head of the family… he must be important. I understand." Tohru said with a smile.

"Come on Tohru we can make it in time if we hurry now." Izumi said as she began to leave the house.

"I'm coming." Tohru said softly quickly following her sister out of the house.

"I can't help but wonder what will be said by the head of the family. Us knowing their secret…"

"I'm sure that there isn't going to be a problem, Zumi." Tohru said with a small smile.

"Tohru I love how you look on the brighter side of things, but there is a chance that they could bully us into not telling the secret of the family."

"And I know neither one of us will tell." Tohru said, offering Izumi a small smile.

"It's not our place to tell anyone's secret. Even our own." Izumi said, letting out a soft breath as the two of them walked down the stairs leading towards the streetway below. "You should really try to get your uniform washed at school. I would hate to see you in dirty clothes all day long."

"You think they'll let me borrow the washing machine?"

"It's one of the reasons why we have one at the school. Accidents happen."

"And what of your uniform?" Tohru questioned knowing that Izumi's uniform was a tiny bit dirty.

"My uniform is a bit cleaner… I don't think that it will be too bad." She said with a shrug of her shoulders.

This is the end of Chapter 3. I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. I tried my best writing this out to make it as good as I can. I hope to have quite a few chapters finished as I work on this story. I'm already planning out chapter four which will finish up Chapter 2 of the Manga. I hope to have a few more chapters out and splitting each chapter into two chapters. Since I'm aiming for about 2000 or so words per chapter. I don't want the chapters overly long so splitting them in half is probably the best idea that I could have. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. Will the next chapter be different from the manga? What will Izumi do if she's around Tohru when she's bullied.
