Attack of the Saibamen
Piccolo and Gohan stood in front of the two Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta.
A breeze blew by, shaking Gohan and Vegeta's hair.
Vegeta smirked as he eyed their two opponents.
Nappa pressed a button on his scouter. "Let's see... the namek's at 1350 ...and the kid's at 925... darn impressive for his age."
Vegeta looked at Nappa from the corner of his eye. "Have you brought the Saibamen with you, Nappa?"
Nappa blinked. "Saibamen?" he asked. Than he remembered. "The little green monsters we got from planet Cabbage? Yeah, sure."
Piccolo gritted his teeth while Gohan trembled. The Saiyans had gauged their strengths using their 'scouters' and apparently they weren't impressed.
'Well,' Piccolo thought. 'If they are going to rely too much on those numbers then they are up for a surprise...' Piccolo wasn't holding back much but he had learned the art of concentrating his energy during attacks. This helped him to get some even ground while fighting stronger opponents but on the downside, it also made him lose stamina really fast. Meanwhile, what were these Saibamen they were talking about? Piccolo had no idea...
The big bald Saiyan called Nappa took out a small fluid-filled bottle from his pocket. He knelt down and used his finger to create six small holes in the ground. Nappa then poured one drop into each of the holes.
Nappa stood up and tossed the bottle behind him. "That's the last of them, Vegeta," he said to his partner.
Gohan gasped as a few seconds later six green little creatures, about the same height as his, emerged from the holes in the ground Nappa had just created.
"Kh-gee.." The creatures eyed Gohan and Piccolo hungrily.
Piccolo looked towards his pupil. "Gohan. You don't have to be afraid. Remember our training. You have it in you to do this."
Gohan nodded to his master. The half-Saiyan fell into his battle stance. This was it. This was what he had been preparing for since five months ago... The boy felt confidence from the fact that his current opponents were atleast of similar height.
Suddenly, the sounds of a few helicopters could be heard.
"Fools," Piccolo muttered under his breath. It was the media.
Nappa grinned nastily as he eyed the helicopters with cameramen hanging out of them. "You want some news, do ya? WELL, YOU ARE THE NEWS!"
The bald Saiyan threw an energy blast into the nearest helicopter, destroying it. The rest of the vehicles wisely retreated.
Vegeta snickered. "Attack," he ordered the six little monsters.
With a squeal the Saibamen rushed forwards. Three of them surrounded Piccolo while three surrounded Gohan.
"Kh-gheee!"
Piccolo growled as he was attacked by the green monsters. The tall fighter was blocking and parrying away their attacks.
Gohan braced himself as he was attacked from three sides. The boy ducked under the claw-strike of one and punched it in the gut but was headbutted on the side of his chest by the second. The third Saibaman kicked Gohan on the back of his head.
Gohan walked a couple of steps forward before turning back and launching himself into his attacker.
"Ha!" Gohan yelled, crashing his fist into the Saibaman's face. The green monster was pushed back.
The boy was startled as a clawed hand grabbed his leg and pulled him to the ground.
The Saibaman squealed as it rotated Gohan around, holding onto his leg. Gohan could see his world spinning. He was then helplessly flung away only to be intercepted mid-flight by a double kick from above.
Gohan crashed into the ground.
Piccolo, meanwhile, pushed back the Saibamen surrounding him with a mini-explosive wave.
"RAH!" Piccolo then punched one of them with an energized fist, severing its head in the process.
The other two Saibamen stopped in their tracks with fear, trembling.
The severed head of the Saibaman came rolling and halted in front of Nappa.
Nappa gritted his teeth with anger. "Why, that green slug!"
Vegeta chuckled. "Come on, Nappa. It's clear that your Saibamen stand no chance."
"No!" Nappa exclaimed. "These are the same bunch which wreaked havoc on planet Arlia!"
Meanwhile, Gohan barely rolled out of the way of an acid-attack fired from a Saibaman's split head.
Piccolo punched a Saibaman in the gut, making it fall unconscious. He raised his hand in the direction of the other. "Destructive wave!"
With a shriek the Saibaman under attack was reduced to ashes.
Piccolo turned towards Gohan. "Gohan! Use your sword!" he shouted.
Gohan nodded and pulled out his weapon.
"Haaaaa!" With a yell Gohan dashed towards the Saibaman in front of him. The three Saibamen were still dumbstruck from the one-by-one fall of their partners against Piccolo.
"Haaa!" Gohan brought his sword down upon the Saibaman. It raised its hand to block but it was of no use. The sword cut through the Saibaman's arm as well as its head and trunk. Gohan landed with style as the green monster fell apart into two pieces.
The remaining two Saibamen growled angrily and pounced upon Gohan from both sides.
Gohan raised his sword and began to block their claw-strikes with his weapon.
"K-gheee!" A saibaman kicked Gohan in the chest, sending him a couple of steps backwards. Gohan gritted his teeth and with a yell hit his attacker with a transverse sword slash.
The green monster dropped dead, cut into two pieces.
Piccolo smirked proudly. Gohan's stay with him had surely hardened the boy up.
Gohan then looked towards the last Saibaman standing.
"Kgh-gh..." The Saibaman was trembling. It turned its back and made a run for it.
SPLACK!
"AAARGHH! "
Gohan winced slightly as the running away Saibaman let out an ear-piercing scream and was reduced to a gory mess.
Vegeta stood with his finger extended. "Cowardice shall not be tolerated," he scowled.
Nappa stared at his partner with a bewildered expression. Even he was surprised by Vegeta's ruthlessness sometimes.
Gohan's jaw dropped open. 'D-did he just kill his own ally?'
Silence reigned on the battlefield for a few moments...
Piccolo exercized his neck and cracked his knuckles. "Now that we are done with this little game of yours, shall we begin with the real fight?"
Vegeta snickered. "Oh, you have no idea..."
Piccolo raised an eyebrow. 'What?!' he exclaimed in his mind as he felt something on his back.
Gohan gasped as he saw Mr Piccolo get grabbed from behind. 'W-what's happening?' the boy thought. He could sense the Saibaman's energy grow unexpectedly high.
Piccolo struggled to break free from the grip of the green menace but to his surprise he was unable to.
Vegeta chuckled. "Always make a point to finish what you started."
Nappa grinned. "Looks like time's up for you, Namek."
Piccolo's eyes widened. 'No..'
BOOOOM!
A huge explosion erupted.
"Mr Piccolo!" Gohan screamed as he could sense both the energies fade away. "NO!"
