A/N: This is the start of a two-part story involving big changes in Kingpin's organisation.
Please read and review?
On Saturday, July 2nd, at 9:10am, Kingpin was sitting behind his desk in his skyscraper, still mad about his son now being in jail. The very thought of his son's trial yesterday still made him mad as he clutched his fists. A noise came from the screens on his desk, making him groan and press a button near them, before Silvermaine showed up on one.
"Silvermaine!" Kingpin hissed.
"Not just me, Fisk." Silvermaine smirked.
Kingpin frowned as Owl and Mr. Negative showed up on another one.
"How you holding up, Kingpin?" Mr. Negative asked coldly.
"Yeah, you look more angry than unusual." Owl joked.
"Of course I am! What do you lot want?" Kingpin demanded.
"We've all been hearing rumors going around, about your own son winding up in jail, Kingpin." Silvermaine smirked.
"How'd it happen?" Owl asked.
"If you must know, he went to jail to take the fall for me, as there was too much evidence against him, thanks to Daredevil and those web-heads!" Kingpin growled.
"Ha. Even I managed to keep my own children out of jail." Silvermaine spat. "Perhaps you're losing your touch, Kingpin."
"At the rate you're going, someone else might take your place as head of this city." Mr. Negative joked. "Out of all of us, you've had the most failures dealing with those wall-crawlers."
Kingpin growled and slammed his fist into the desk, shaking the computers.
"He has a point." Mr. Negative said. "You've failed about a dozen times, and now your own pathetic son is in jail, who I suppose is-"
"Don't you dare talk about my son that way!" Kingpin growled. "You can insult me all you want, but no one talks about my family that way!"
"Ooh." Owl mocked. "Looks like we've struck a nerve."
"I have plan to deal with them, and hopefully this one won't backfire." Kingpin assured.
"Like we've heard before." Owl scoffed, sniggering.
Kingpin snarled, seeing they all looked unconvinced, before the elevator door opened, and Hammerhead came in, but stopped upon seeing him angry.
"I promise you all, I will eliminate those web-heads and make up for this." Kingpin swore. "No matter how many more show up, they will not defeat me!"
He turned the screens off in anger before they could protest, then got up and walked off angrily, before Hammerhead came towards him.
"Did you find him?" he asked.
"Sure did, Boss." Hammerhead said. "Our new friend will be perfect to replace our old one after all he's done."
"Good." Kingpin said. "It's time for a little change around here, since our old friend here's outlived himself in one capacity."
Meanwhile, at the Daily Bugle, Peter was walking towards Betty's desk, but saw she wasn't there.
"Huh?" he muttered.
He looked around for her, before he heard Ned's voice behind him.
"So, we still on for the 4th?" he asked.
Peter turned around and saw Ned and Betty coming towards him, Betty sorting out her hair, like it had been ruffled.
"Are those two hiding something?" he thought, grinning, as it reminded himself of when he and Gwen sometimes made out.
"Yeah, I'll be there." Betty said, before she spotted Peter. "Oh, Pete, you got pictures for the Boss?"
"Yeah." Peter said, hiding his grin. "I just got here."
"Okay, well, go on in." Betty said.
Peter smiled and opened the door, seeing Jameson resting with his feet on the table, who looked up at him.
"Ah, Parker." he said, rather miserable for once. "You got more pictures."
"Yes, Mr. Jameson." Peter said, taking them out. "Are you okay, though? You sound a bit miserable."
"I am, Parker." Jameson said, taking the pictures. "What happened to that Sgt. Davis is unforgivable; being framed by the son of one of the most beloved men in the city. I don't know how Richard Fisk can be so different from his father."
"You don't know how similar they are, Jameson." Peter thought, as he and his friends were still shocked by who Wilson Fisk really was.
"I'm still not over the shock, due to how often I've seen Wilson and his wife over the years, always talking about their son." Jameson continued. "I'm starting to hope that John doesn't turn out like him."
"He won't." Peter assured, making Jameson look up at him. "I mean, he may see some things different than you, but he's a lot like you, unlike the Fisks' Mr. Jameson."
"Thanks." Jameson said, before he began going through the pictures.
Peter looked nervous slightly as he began throwing the pictures down, which had pictures of the Web-Warriors swinging through the city.
"Mostly crap." Jameson said. "But these four are okay."
Jameson put those four down as he looked at them, one showing the Spider-Man, Shadow-Spider and Spider-Girl perched on a wall together - as Ghost-Spider had left to go home at the time. The second showed all four Web-Warriors swinging away from a armored car, with about 16 thugs webbed up around it, while the last two had them all standing outside a bank, with broken windows.
"Must think we robbed the bank and took the money from the armored car from the thugs." Peter thought.
"I'll give you 350 for all this." Jameson said. "My best offer right now due to what I've found out about Fisk's son."
"Okay." Peter said.
Jameson wrote the cheque and gave it to Peter, who took it and left the office. He gave it to Betty, who smiled and took it, when he heard his phone ring.
"Now what?" he thought.
He took it out and put it near his ear, forgetting to look at who it was.
"Hello?" he asked.
"Peter Parker, I need your help." came a familiar voice.
Peter's eyes widened, as he recognized the voice as Alistair Smythe.
"Is that..." he began.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
Alistair was down in the lab room in his hoverchair, typing on the keyboard on it.
"You must contact Spider-Man for me?" Alistair asked. "It's a matter of life and death."
(Daily Bugle)
Peter's eyes widened slightly.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
"He and his friends are the only ones who can save me from my employer; a crime lord named, the Kingpin." Alistair explained, as a file of Kingpin came up on his hoverchair's screen.
(Daily Bugle)
"The Kingpin?" Peter thought.
"Now listen, my name is Alistair Smythe." Alistair explained.
"I thought that voice sounded familiar?" Peter thought.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
"I know Spider-Man and his friends don't owe me anything, especially since I've tried to kill them with my Spider-Slayers." Alistair said, as he moved his hoverchair across the lab. "But, I can promise that if they help me, I'll give them Kingpin on a silver plater."
(Daily Bugle)
"Why are you so keen to betray your boss?" Peter asked.
"Because I have a feeling Kingpin might try to get rid of me." Alistair replied.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
"He's been furious since one of his best men got locked up yesterday." Alistair explained.
Unknown to him, the elevator at the back of the room opened up, and Kingpin and Hammerhead both stepped int.
"Alright, I'll see what I can do." Peter said. "Is there a place you wanna meet them?"
"Have one of them meet me at the American Museum of Natural History at noon?" Alistair asked.
(Daily Bugle)
"Okay." Peter said.
He hung up and put his phone away.
"With Miles going to the station for me, and Gwen training Anya in the Spider-Cave, I'll have to do this one alone." he thought. "But since Smythe just wants to talk, it can't be that bad. Maybe with his help, we'll be able to put Kingpin away for good."
He turned and took his cheque from Betty, then he walked off out of the room.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
Alistair sighed as Kingpin and Hammerhead both came up behind him.
"It'll all be over by noon." he said.
"Oh, will it?" Hammerhead snarled.
Alistair gasped and turned his hoverchair around, before Kingpin lifted it up by the front.
"Trying to double-cross me, eh, Smythe?" Kingpin inquired. "Not surprising after what I said yesterday, but there is no way you're telling those web-heads anything about me."
Alistair gasped, thinking Kingpin was gonna kill him, before Hammerhead sniggered.
"Oh, we're not gonna kill you, Smythe, for you're still of some use to us." he said, before he laughed evilly.
A little later, Shadow-Spider was at the 13th precinct, climbing down towards Capt. Stacy's office; he knew where it was due to being told by Peter, Gwen and his Dad. Once he got to the window, he saw Capt. Stacy working behind his desk, before he tapped on the window.
"Huh?" the Capt. muttered.
He turned around and got up, before he opened the window.
"Shadow-Spider, what are you doing here?" he asked.
Shadow-Spider climbed into the office, before he turned to the Capt.
"It's about those Cops that got arrested for framing Sgt. Davis." he explained.
"Blake and Hoffman? They're both in jail right now, at Ryker's Island prison." Capt. Stacy said.
"And the others from that list we gave your fellow Officers?" Shadow-Spider asked.
"Well, we've investigated them, but it turns out not all of them were crooked." Capt. Stacy said.
"Wait, you mean, not all those Cops were willing helping Fisk?" Shadow-Spider asked.
"No. Three of them only did it because he threatened their families." Capt. Stacy said. "I don't blame those ones, so Commissioner DeWolff's only suspended them 'til summer vacation's over."
"DeWolff?" Shadow-Spider questioned. "He's not related to your Lt. DeWolff is he?"
"That's her father." Capt. Stacy explained. "As for the rest, they've been fired and locked up. I don't know what this world's coming too these days; crooks helping criminals like that. What people will do for money makes me sick."
Shadow-Spider folded his arms as he looked around, seeing the picture of him, Gwen and Helen, before turning back to him.
"Well, is there anything else, Shadow-Spider?" the Capt. asked.
"No, not right now." Shadow-Spider said. "I just came over to ask about those Cops, since the rest are busy right now."
"Right. Well, that's all then." Capt. Stacy said.
Shadow-Spider nodded, before he climbed out of the window and began to web-swing off.
"Well, that covers that." he thought. "Now, I better go to FEAST to help Mom out."
He turned left as he kept swinging off.
Meanwhile, in the Spider-Cave, Gwen and Anya were both in workout clothes, sparing against each other. Gwen dodged as Anya sent a punch at her, who then back flipped away as Anya sent another at her, before she landed on her feet. She shot a web from her right web-shooter, but missed as Anya dodged, before she shot a web at Gwen, who ducked to avoid it.
"Gotta be quicker than that." Gwen joked.
She shot web balls from her web-shooters at Anya, who dodged and dived to her right, landing on her feet, before she pushed them against the floor and dived away. She landed crouched down with her legs bent, then turned and shot a web at Gwen, who jumped up and spread her legs out, making it miss her, before she landed on the web like it was a tight-ripe. Anya smirked and pulled on it, making it snap, causing Gwen to fall onto the floor on her back.
"OH!" she moaned.
She sat up, before Anya pounced towards, landing with her right foot on Gwen's chest, pinning her down.
"Ha, looks I like win." Anya smirked, getting off Gwen.
"Ha, you're learning, Anya." Gwen remarked.
"Thanks, Gwen." Anya said, helping her up. "You're a good teacher, even if you're not much older than me."
"Oh, yeah; your birthday's in September isn't it?" Gwen inquired.
Anya nodded. "I'm one of the oldest in my year and Miles is one of the youngest." she said.
"Well, it happens." Gwen reasoned. "Can't be helped."
"No, it can't." Anya agreed. "Hey, you know how you've told me about some of your past missions, even before Miles joined, do you mind if you tell me more?"
"You're part of the team. Rule#1 is no secrets between us." Gwen said. "Come on."
They both turned and approached the computer, before Gwen sat down by it and began to type on it, bringing up a bunch of files. One of them had friends on, another enemies, a third past missions, and the fourth had known places to be.
"You've never had a look at these, have you?" Gwen asked.
"No." Anya replied. "Peter's told me about them, and you have told me about your friends, but not this."
"Well, the files are about all Peter and I have done since we started out, and all the friends and enemies we've made." Gwen explained, getting up. "Check it out?"
Anya sat down in the chair and looked at the files.
"Look at it all you want." Gwen said. "I'm gonna shower and get changed. I'll see you."
Anya smiled as she turned around to Gwen, who walked off, as she was starting to see Gwen as the sister she never had, despite the fact there was only a few months between them in age.
"If I'd been born in August, I'd have been in her year instead of Miles'." she thought. "Still, it's not unusual for people."
She turned back to the computer and began to look up the friends file, which had been updated to include Daredevil, and had smaller mini files on to represent the teams of heroes and those working alone.
A little later, at almost noon, Spider-Man was swinging through the city, on his way to meet Alistair.
"I hope I get there on time, Alistair might leave otherwise." he thought. "I know this can't be a trap, since he sounded sincere, unless of course he's been caught."
Once he got close to the American Museum of Natural History, he gilded down and landed on a nearby rooftop, then he ran across it and jumped onto the rooftop in question. He began to walk around, looking around, then he saw Smythe's hoverchair, but it was empty.
"Empty?" he thought. "I thought Alistair was paralyzed? He can't just get up and walk away? Unless Kingpin got onto him and kidnapped him!"
He jumped down towards it, landing crouched down, then he got up and approached it, when his Spider-Sense tingled.
"Huh?" he muttered, turning around.
He saw - to his shock - Alistair Smythe standing before him, although he now looked more machine than man. He was shirtless with long, bladed, curved blades on his shoulders, with shorter blades shaped like fins on each forearm, while his pants were dark blue and robotic, and his feet resembled that of a bird's, and he also had yellow eyes.
"Smythe? What... What's happened to you?" he asked, shocked.
Alistair came at him and tried to punch him, but missed as he back flipped away, then he shot webs from both his hands, which hit Alistair's chest. He ripped it off and fired lasers from his shoulder blades, making Spider-Man jump and back flip away before they hit the roof, creating a small hole in it. Spider-Man landed on the edge of the rooftop that led to another building, before Alistair came towards him.
"Smythe, tell me what happened?" Spider-Man asked. "You said you were gonna tell me about Kingpin."
Alistair didn't saw a word as he came towards him.
"Okay, whatever's happened to him, must've made him deaf or something?" Spider-Man deduced.
He shot a web at Alistair, which hit his face, blinding him.
"AHH!" he roared.
"Okay, so he's not blind, just the strong silent type now." Spider-Man thought.
He turned and jumped onto the next rooftop, before Alistair ripped off the web on his face, then began to chase after him. They ran across two rooftops, before they turned right and ran onto another one, before Alistair fired his shoulder lasers, which hit Spider-Man's back.
"AHH!" he moaned.
He hit the rooftop on his chest and rolled over, before he stopped on his chest and turned to Alistair.
"Must kill Spider-Man." Alistair said robotically.
Spider-Man looked up at him as he landed on the rooftop and approached him.
"That voice sounded robotic? Kingpin must've turned him into that so he couldn't testify against him." he deduced.
He got up slightly, before Alistair grabbed him by the shoulders and held him up.
"You must be eliminated." Alistair said.
"But-" Spider-Man began.
Alistair cut him off by wrapping his arms around him, squashing him.
"AHH!" he moaned.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
Kingpin and Hammerhead were both watching Alistair's performance on the screen in Kingpin's lab, seeing the battle through Alistair's eyes.
"Perfect." Kingpin said. "What our friend did to Alistair has made him our ultimate weapon."
"Pity there's only just Spider-Man instead of his whole team." Hammerhead sneered. "I'd have liked to see him pound all four of them into the ground."
"That does not matter." Kingpin said. "He'll be able to deal with the others soon."
(The city)
Spider-Man groaned as Alistair crushed him in his bear hug.
"AHH! He's become the ultimate Spider-Slayer!" he moaned.
He groaned as he tried to figure out a way to break free, when he lifted his right hand up and shot a web from it, hitting Alistair's face and blinding him again.
"AHH!" he roared.
He put his hands on the web and began to pull on it, allowing Spider-Man to break free and back flip away, landing in a three-point stance away from him. Alistair ripped the webbing off his eyes, then began firing his shoulder lasers repeatedly at Spider-Man, who jumped up and back flipped away to avoid them. He landed on his feet, then dived to his left and did a side flip to avoid another, before one hit the roof area near his feet as he landed, causing part of the roof to collapse.
"AHHH!" he yelled, as he fell down.
He shot down towards the ground floor of the building, landing on his chest hard.
"OH!" he moaned. "Uh!"
He got up slightly and shook his head, before he turned left, as Alistair jumped through the hole and landed in front of him.
"Time for the kill." Alistair said.
Spider-Man turned to him, before he saw the place was empty, but then he saw a nearby window.
"I hope this works, otherwise I'm doomed." he thought.
He shot webs from both his hands, which hit Alistair's legs and wrapped around him, then he pulled on the webs, pulling Alistair onto his back.
"OH!" he moaned.
Spider-Man got up and webbed Alistair up in a web-cocoon, doing it three times to hopefully make sure he stayed put.
"I hope that holds him." he thought. "I better get outta here and tell the others."
He jumped up and kicked the window open, then began to web-swing away, knowing he'd have to tell the others about what happened to Alistair, but now was not the time.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
Kingpin and Hammerhead watched the webs around Alistair's face on the screen, before Alistair broke free of them.
"The web-head escaped!" Hammerhead growled.
"It seems the new Alistair is just as disappointing as the old one." Kingpin said.
"We better have a word with our friend who did this." Hammerhead said.
"Agreed." Kingpin said. "I'll make sure he brings Smythe back here. You remember your assignment for the day."
Hammerhead nodded.
"Good." Kingpin said.
About half-an-hour later, Peter met up with Miles at FEAST, both of them standing in the back near the fountain, Peter having told Miles everything that had happened when he met Alistair.
"So, you're saying, he's turned into a robot?" Miles asked quietly.
"Yeah." Peter said. "He even talked robotically."
"You don't think he set you up about meeting him then?" Miles asked.
"I don't think so. From what he told me over the phone, he sounded genuine. I think Kingpin might've done that to him against his will." Peter said, as he'd been thinking about that since he escaped.
"So, we've lost our best chance of getting evidence against Kingpin then?" Miles assumed.
"Looks like it." Peter sighed.
"How d'you think Kingpin could've done it to Smythe?" Miles asked. "I mean, you told me and Anya Smythe was Hammerhead's tech guy, and since Hammerhead works for Kingpin-"
"I'm not really sure about that, Miles." Peter said honestly. "He must've found someone else to replace Smythe, thinking he'd be more useful as a robot."
Miles sighed. "He may have been the guy who created those Spider-Slayers - including the one who nearly killed my Dad - I can't help but feel sorry for him." he said.
"I know, me too." Peter said. "We better let the girls know about what's happened."
"I'll do it. Haven't you got some errands to run later?" Miles asked. "I mean, your Aunt's not here today."
"Oh, man! The milk and eggs, I forgot." Peter said, as he was meant to pick them up on his way home. "Thanks for reminding me, Miles."
He turned and ran off and left the shelter, as Miles took out his phone and texted Anya, since his contacts were alphabetical.
"Good thing she and Gwen are training together for now." he thought, as he began to type.
Meanwhile, in the Spider-Cave, Gwen was now dressed in her costume expect for her mask, having finished her shower and changed into it. She approached Anya, who remained sat at the computer with her eyes wide at all the stuff she'd learned from it.
"Find something interesting?" Gwen inquired.
"Well, yeah." Anya replied, turning to her. "I recognize some of those heroes from Spider-Island, the ones who I saw in the lab with me, Peter and Dr. Connors."
"I figured you'd recognize them." Gwen smiled. "We've made quite a few good friends with some of those people. We even have the phone numbers of the ones we're closet too to keep in contact with us."
"That's good to know." Anya said. "Are their contacts also on the computer."
"Well, we're not sure to be honest." Gwen admitted. "Like we told you, we only got the Spider-Cave after Spider-Island, and we haven't had any contacts from any of our friends on there."
"Oh, right. That does sound fair, I guess." Anya said. "Um, speaking of which, do any of them know about me?"
"Well, you have made the papers and the News, so yes." Gwen assured. "Jess' is the only one we've told about who you really are though, since she's one of us."
"Fair enough, one spider to another." Anya reasoned.
They both giggled when they heard a beep, making Anya take out her phone, before she saw it was a text from Miles.
"'Peter's meeting with Smythe failed. He's been turned into some sort of robot with no emotion. Pete reckons Kingpin found out about his betrayal and did that to him, so we've lost our best chance of getting information on him. Just thought I'd let you know. Miles.'." Anya read.
Gwen's mouth fell open, shocked by the news, as was Anya.
"Man, not even Smythe deserved that." Gwen said, feeling sorry for him.
"No, he didn't." Anya said. "From what you guys told me, he only joined Kingpin to get revenge for thinking you and Peter killed his father."
"That was Hammerhead's fault." Gwen argued. "He and Kingpin just told Smythe it was our fault since we destroyed his father's Spider-Slayer that accidently caused the explosion that clamed his life."
"I know, it says said on the computer, I looked it up." Anya said. "I really appreciate you letting me look at this Gwen, just so I can see all the good you've all done."
"Hey, like I said; no secrets between the team, and that includes Jessica." Gwen assured. "That's the Web-Warriors number 1 rule."
Anya smiled before she got up.
"You going out on patrol now?" she asked.
"Well, yeah. You wanna join me like?" Gwen asked.
"Sure. Just let get showered and changed into my suit?" Anya asked.
"Go right ahead." Gwen said.
Anya smiled as she walked off towards the showers to get washed from their sparring session, before she approached them, seeing their was actually three stalls.
"Guess the Avengers didn't count on me showing up when they gave Gwen and the others this place." she thought, as she kicked her shoes off.
She took off her socks, then stripped herself from her sports top, ready to shower and get clean before she left to patrol with Gwen.
Around an hour later, Alistair had returned to the Kingpin's skyscraper, moving up an elevator, when it stopped, then the door opened, and he entered the lab, where two people stood. They were Kingpin and Herbert Landon, who maintained his mutant disfigurement from his encounter with Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider and the X-Men, making him look like a green-skinned version of Batman's Two-Face, only with claws for fingers and toes, and a yellow eye.
"Welcome back, Alistair." Kingpin said.
Alistair approached the three men.
"My dear fellow, it's time for another treatment." Landon said, pointing at a tube on his left.
"No more treatments?" Alistair requested.
"You will do as you are told, Smythe!" Kingpin growled.
Alistair turned to him and grabbed him by the shirt.
"Ha, go ahead and try it?" Kingpin mocked.
Alistair glared at him, before the words 'Kingpin, do not harm' flashed in his head, making him put Kingpin down.
"I'm sorry about that. It's just a minor malfunction." Landon apologised, as Alistair backed away.
"Ha. Better work on it then." Kingpin suggested.
"I will." Landon assured.
Alistair walked over to a chamber tube, then entered it as the door closed, before he turned around.
"I'll make sure the programming that prevents Alistair harming us is fully repaired." Landon assured.
"Good. Come with me?" Kingpin said.
They both approached the elevator, then got into it.
"We can discuss my plans for Smythe in my office." Kingpin said, before the door closed.
Stream began to come up in the chamber Alistair was in, before his yellow eyes rose up, showing his natural blue ones, before he began to see his memoires.
"We have come to the end of our association." Kingpin said.
(His memoires)
Alistair sat restrained to a lab table before Kingpin and Hammerhead, who stood by a screen.
"You have failed to keep your part of our bargain, Smythe!" Kingpin snarled.
Hammerhead pressed a button on a remote, showing recordings of Alistair's Spider Slayer battles on the screen.
Ghost-Spider rammed one of Tarantula's arms into the power box, shorting it out with electricity as she jumped away.
"Your Spider Slayer..."
It, Scorpion and Black Widow all looked up at Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider, who rested on a support of the George Washington Bridge, before a bomb went off on them.
"...robots have been totally..."
Shadow-Spider landed on Wolf's back, shooting his Venom Blast through it.
"...ineffective in killing the Web-Warriors."
Richard turned to his father in the courtroom from yester, as Kingpin frowned.
"Even worse, because of your bungling..."
Shadow-Spider came up behind Richard Fisk inside a building, making him turn around.
"Ah!" he gasped.
"...in that Sgt. Davis mess..."
He turned back as Spider-Girl and Ghost-Spider came towards him, trapping him, before they all webbed him up in a cocoon that covered all but his head, leaving him trapped.
"...my son is now in jail..."
Richard turned around to his father in the courthouse, who frowned, before he turned back to the judge.
"...and the Web-Warriors now know..."
Kingpin raised his stick up to bang Daredevil, when a web hit his arm from behind, courtesy of Spider-Man.
"...of my existence, making them more dangerous than ever! It is time for me to make a change around here." Kingpin declared angrily.
"NOOOO!" Alistair cried.
Later, he found himself strapped down naked on another table, with a metal box around his private parts. He stared at Landon, who stood behind a panel with Kingpin and Hammerhead. Beneath him was a glowing vat of green/yellowish liquid, similar to what had turned Landon into what he was now, when he tried to kill Beast.
"Metal is the past, Smythe." Landon said coldly. "Flesh, mutated, restructured and enhanced is the key to the future."
"You? I'm surprised Kingpin's let you live, after you betrayed him over that Mutant army mess?!" Alistair exclaimed.
"Yes." Landon hissed, turning to him. "The Kingpin gave me another chance, since he needs a new science guy."
Alistair turned to Kingpin and Hammerhead, who both grinned evilly.
"And even through I'll be replacing you in that area, there's still a place for you in the organisation." Landon continued.
"Wait; you're gonna...mutate me, like you did yourself?!" Alistair exclaimed frantically.
"Sort of, but in this case, you'll end up a lot different from what happened to me." Landon said, pointing at the left side of his face.
"NOOOO!" Alistair panicked.
"You can panic all you want, but you have failed me for the last time looking like that, Smythe!" Kingpin growled. "You brought this on yourself."
Alistair breathed hard, finding the restraints around his arms were too strong for him to break, and he'd have no luck with his legs since he was a cripple.
"Time for your improvement makeover." Landon sneered.
He pressed some buttons on a keyboard panel, causing the table to lower itself down into the vat of liquid.
"Where you once failed, you will now finally succeed." Landon said.
Hammerhead grinned as Alistair went under the vat of liquid, then once he was fully under, he began to mutate and change. A few minutes later, Alistair awoke inside the tube he was now, now in his robotic form, which was his mutation.
"Ah, everything has turned out just prefect." Landon said.
"Gotta admit, Doc, impressive." Hammerhead smirked.
"Dr. Landon, you're sure that he no longer has any feelings or will of his own?" Kingpin asked.
"None whatsoever." Landon assured. "He's now the Humanoid equivalent of a robot."
"How ironic; Spencer Smythe loved robots, and now his son has become one." Kingpin said. "And now, he will be our Ultimate Slayer in killing the Web-Warriors."
"You think he'll be able to handle all four of them, Doc?" Hammerhead asked.
"With my programming, he should be, providing of course they don't do something I won't suspect." Landon assured.
"Then we have to make sure we aren't surprised by them." Kingpin smirked.
(Reality)
Alistair began to cry as he saw more memoires, but these ones were of his father.
(His memoires)
Alistair - back when he was in his wheelchair - was in a lab with his father, who pressed a few buttons on the panel, then the screen turned to show a purple hover chair.
"It'll be your size when it's finished, son." he said.
Alistair stared at the chair in amazement.
"That's why you're doing this?" he asked.
He and his father turned to each other.
"Serving up Spider-Man and Ghost Spider on a plater, just for this?" Alistair inquired.
"Alistair, when you lost the use of your legs in that accident, I blamed myself." his father said. "I'd do anything to get you out of that wheelchair?"
Later, when the lab was on fire during the battle with Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider ad the Black Widow Spider Slayer, Spencer got behind Alistair's chair, when Hammerhead came over and grabbed his arm.
"Hey, remember the deal? No spider splat, no hoverchair!" Hammerhead sneered.
"Alright, but take my son out of here." Spencer asked.
"No, you can't stay!" Alistair panicked, as Hammerhead got behind him.
Later, outside Hammerhead stopped pushing Alistair, as several men ran off, when they both turned back to it.
"My father, did he get out?" Alistair asked worriedly.
An explosion then went off around the warehouse, creating a large smokescreen.
"NOOOOOO!" Alistair cried, turning around as tears came from his eyes.
(Reality)
Alistair's yellow eyes came down, which wiped his tears away, before he punched the tube door open, which hit the floor. He approached the panel and slammed his fist on a button, opening up a door as the alarm blared. He approached it, seeing his hoverchair on a landing pad, when another door opened behind, and four thugs came out, one African, the rest white.
"Hey, freak get back in your cage!" one demanded, aiming a pistol.
The other three did the same, before Alistair turned to them all and charged at them. He rammed one with his head, knocking him away, before he hit a wall and out cold, then he grabbed another by the shoulder and threw him away.
"AH!" he yelled, hitting the floor.
The last two fired their guns at Alistair, but the bullets bounced off him, before he knocked their pistols out of their hands.
"Yikes!" the African gasped.
Alistair punched him in the chest and knocked him away, before he whacked the last thug with his right arm, knocking him against a wall. He turned around and ran towards his hoverchair, just as Kingpin and Landon entered the lab from another door.
"Stay back!" the first thug said. "He's too strong!"
Alistair jumped into his hoverchair, then powered it up and flew it off into the city, as Landon ran onto the landing pad.
"Stop! I command you to stop, Smythe!" Landon ordered.
Alistair ignored him as he turned his hoverchair and flew off into the city.
"The Humanoid equivalent of a robot, eh?" Kingpin inquired, coming up beside Landon.
Landon turned to him, not sure how to explain what was going on, when the thugs all got up.
"Tell me exactly what happened here?" Kingpin demanded, turning to them all.
"Well..." the first said, before he began to tell Kingpin what happened.
Later, 2:30pm, in Times Square, a van pulled up outside the Banana Republic Sporting Goods store. Inside, was Hammerhead and about 14 goons, including the two in the front, who both turned around, all of them armed with either AK's, Uzi's or shotguns.
"Now, we wait for the others to arrive, then we go out and rob every store around here, shooting up everything as we do." Hammerhead instructed. "Understood."
"Yes, boss." the men said.
His phone beeped, making him take it out and put it to his ear.
"Yeah?" he said.
"We're in position near the Junior's Restaurant." a man explained.
"Good. Go when we get out." Hammerhead instructed.
"Yes, sir." the man understood.
Hammerhead put his phone away and turned to the men and nodded.
"You boys know what to do." he said.
His men nodded, before they all ran out of the van and began firing their weapons into the sky.
"AHH!" people nearby screamed.
Hammerhead and six of his men stormed into the sporting goods store, before two with Uzis fired three rounds at the ceiling each.
"AHHH!" people screamed.
"Hands up, all of you!" Hammerhead roared. "This is a robbery!"
On the other side of the area, the other group of men - consisting of 15 men - stormed out of another man and ran into Junior's Restaurant, before two fired pistols into the air.
"AHH!" people screamed, ducking down.
Among the people inside were Harry, Mary Jane, Flash, Liz and Randy, who all ducked down.
"Hang over the money!" the head thug demanded, aiming an Uzi. "Hand it over now!"
The employees behind the counters gasped as they began to take out the money, all worried for their lives.
As they did, Randy took a peek out of the window and saw a few other places getting robbed, as Harry and Mary Jane both ducked down beneath a table.
"MJ, you okay?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Mary Jane assured.
Flash, Randy and Liz all crouched down near them both under another table, before the pair turned to them.
"Why would they rob this place?" Liz wondered.
"Must be desperate to get money." Mary Jane deduced.
"I don't think so." Randy whispered. "The whole area's getting robbed and shot at."
They all peeked up from behind the tables and peeked out the window, seeing the thugs coming out of the other stores.
"Oh, man. This is a crime spree." Flash said, as they ducked down. "I doubt even Spidey can deal with this many alone, especially if there's more elsewhere."
"Good thing he's got a team then." Harry said. "I'm sure all four of them be here, maybe even Spider-Woman."
"Well, that might help." Flash hoped.
Liz peeked up over the table at Hammerhead and two of his men, as the cashier put money into a money bag, while Mary Jane peeked out of the window at the carange happening.
"I know my hero and his friends will be here." she thought. "I just hope they get here quickly."
In the Kingpin's skyscraper, Landon and Kingpin both stood behind the panel in the lab, his four men - who all stood behind them - having told them what happened, which left Kingpin unpleased.
(The city)
Alistair flew his hoverchair past several tall buildings, as his programming began to scan for someone's location.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
Kingpin and Landon saw words coming up on the panel screen.
"'New target; Hammerhead? Objective; revenge!'" Kingpin read, making him growl. "Landon, what is going on?"
"Alistair is apparently accessing his memoires to reprogram himself." Landon deduced, amazed. "Fascinating."
"That is not the word I would use!" Kingpin snarled.
(The city)
Hammhead's face appeared in Alistair's robotic brain.
"Current location of Hammerhead; Times Square." a computer said with a woman's voice. "Probability; 96.54 percent."
Alistair smiled as he turned his hoverchair around and began to fly towards Times Square.
(Kingpin's skyscraper)
"This is a diester!" Kingpin said. "Smythe's going after my right-hand man instead of the people we want eliminated!"
Landon began to type on the panel.
"Reprogram Smythe immediately, Landon!" Kingpin ordered.
"I'm trying..." Landon began, before the screen went fuzzy. "I can't! He's just terminated our connection! I can't regain control of him!"
"Blast! There must be something we can do to bring him back!" Kingpin demanded.
"The retrieval unit." Landon said, his eyes widening. "I'll it to capture him right now."
"Good. As soon as he gets back here, make sure you reprogram him into a mindless drone, and do it right this time!" Kingpin ordered.
"Understood." Landon gulped nervously.
At 2:45pm, Peter was at home, watching the TV in the sitting room, when a News bulletin came on, made by Whitney Chang.
"This is Whitney Chang reporting live from Times Square!" she explained, as gunshots went off all around. "There is a series or robberies and shootouts going on here commenced by Hammerhead and close to 30 other men."
Peter gasped and covered his mouth in shock.
"At least a dozen people have shot, maybe more, with only a few deaths, but due to how bad this situation is, we all hope that help arrives to detain this madness!" Whitney explained frantically.
Peter got up and ran upstairs, knowing he had to help, just as Aunt May came out of the kitchen.
"Peter, how do you-" she began.
She looked in the sitting room and saw and saw the report on the TV.
"If any of the Web-Warriors are watching this, please hurry to Times Square!" Whitney begged.
Aunt May sighed, knowing why Peter had left the room.
"Guess he's gone off to stop it." she thought.
She walked over to the sitting room window, before she saw Spider-Man web-swinging away, making her smile.
"Be careful, Peter." she thought.
Spider-Man turned left as he kept web-swinging off, before he touched the side of his mask briefly.
"Guys, there's trouble in Times Square." he explained. "Hammerhead and several goons are robbing several of the stores there and shooting up the place."
"Spider-Girl and I began patrolling a few hours ago." came Ghost-Spider's voice. "We'll meet you there."
"I saw the News. I'll be there as soon as I can." Shadow-Spider said.
"Okay. I'll meet you all there." Spider-Man said, as he kept on swinging. "Hammerhead, this time, you're not gonna get away. You'll end up in jail like your boss' son by this time tomorrow."
He turned left as he kept on swinging, knowing he had to get there fast before Hammerhead escaped.
At 3pm, in Times Square, Hammerhead and several of his goons all threw money bags into the back of their two vans, while others came out of stores all over, while a few fired their guns at windows, making people duck down, including Harry, Mary Jane and their friends.
"Man, those guys are crazy!" Liz cried.
"Tell me about it!" Mary Jane said. "It's like they don't care who gets hurt as long as they get what they want!"
Hammerhead smiled and turned to his boys.
"We got everything?" he asked.
"Yes, boss." one of them said.
"Right, let's pack up and get outta here." Hammerhead said.
His men laughed, when one got webbed up by a web.
"AH!" he yelled.
Everyone turned and saw Spider-Man sitting on a wall, while the thug was webbed up beside him.
"Sorry, but I'm afraid I can't let you do that, hardhead." he joked.
"Spider-Man?!" Hammerhead exclaimed. "How'd you find out about this?"
"Oh, the News told me." Spider-Man replied mockingly.
Some of the thugs turned around and saw Whitney Chang and her cameraman, who both ducked behind a building.
"Oh, great! The other web-heads could be here in any minute!" Hammerhead growled. "Waste him!"
His men all aimed their guns and fired at Spider-Man, making him dive down towards them all to avoid the bullets, some just barely missing their webbed up friend.
"Hey, watch it!" Spider-Man exclaimed. "You might hit your friend with those things!"
He jumped up and split kicked two, knocking them down, before he dived away and hid behind an overturned car, as they all turned and fired. He took a peek out from behind it, seeing the rest of the gang moving towards the others, before they fired too, making him duck behind it.
"Okay, with that much firepower they've got, I'll defiantly need the others." he thought.
Up in the sky, Alistair flew his hoverchair down towards the scene, before he landed it in a nearby alley, then got out and approached the scene. Spider-Man turned to peek out from behind the car again, when he saw the hoverchair.
"Oh, great! Not Smythe too!" he thought.
Alistair flew his hoverchair down towards the ground, then jumped out of it before it stopped inches above the ground, getting the attention of everyone still around, including Harry, Mary Jane and their friends.
"Just who the heck is that?" Flash questioned.
"More like what is it?" Liz argued. "It looks freaky!"
"Looks like some of sort cyborg." Harry gulped. "This can't be good."
"Won't argue there, Harry." Randy said.
Mary Jane turned from Alistair to Spider-Man, seeing he was watching the scene, making her heart beat with worry.
"I hope he has a plan to stop this, or at least contain it 'til his friends arrive." she hoped.
At the alley, Whitney and her cameraman both peeked out from behind the alley, her cameraman filming the scene.
"Cliff, are you getting this?" Whitney asked.
"Yeah." Cliff said.
Alistair stared at Hammerhead, as his computer brain scanned him, before his facial image appeared beside it.
"Hammerhead located." the computer said.
Alistair began to march towards Hammerhead in anger.
"Smythe? What in the...?" Hammerhead exclaimed.
Most of his men gasped, with some dropping their guns in shock.
"I thought he was on our side?" one muttered.
"He is, something's not right." another whispered.
Alistair began approaching Hammerhead, who looked confused.
"Hammerhead. Objective; revenge!" he said.
Two of the men got in front of Alistair with Uzis, then prepared to fire them, when Alistair knocked them both aside with his arms.
"AH!" they yelped.
"What's Smythe doing?" Spider-Man muttered, confused.
Several of Hammerhead's men moved back slightly.
"Hammerhead, objective; revenge." Alistair said coldly.
Whitney and Cliff both turned to each other as Cliff kept filming, while all the citizens hiding and watching did the same.
"Okay, this is weird." Spider-Man thought.
"Smythe, what the hell are you doing?" Hammerhead demanded, before pointing to his left. "The web-head's over there!"
Alistair ingored him and fired the lasers from his shoulder blades, making several of the goons turn and hide.
"Yikes!" a few yelped.
"Whoa!" two gasped.
"I didn't sign up for this!" one panicked, as he turned and ran off.
"Get back here?!" Hammerhead demanded. "I'll deal with this!"
He cracked his knuckles then charged at Alistair to ram his head against him, but his head hard just banged off Alistair's chest.
"What?!" Hammerhead exclaimed. "That's-"
Alistair grabbed him by the shoulders and lifted him up, before he threw him towards a car, which he hit and smashed against.
"OH!" he moaned.
Alistair smiled as he approached Hammerhead, while the thugs all looked shocked by what they were seeing, alongside all the citizens, and even Spider-Man.
"No way? Smythe just took out Hammerhead like he was a common thug." he thought.
Alistair kept approaching Hammerhead, as Spider-Man sighed and got up slightly, knowing he had to help Hammerhead whether he wanted to or not.
"I can't believe I'm doing this, but right now, Smythe's the bigger threat." he thought. "I can deal with Hammerhead later when the others arrive."
He jumped up from behind the car and shot a web from both hands, hitting Alistair's forearms.
"Sorry, Smythe, but I can't let you do this!" he said.
Alistair turned slightly, before he grabbed the webs and threw Spider-Man over himself.
"AHHH!" he yelled.
He hit the ground on his back near Hammerhead, who shook his head and sat up.
"Uh! Okay, that could've gone better." Spider-Man moaned.
"Time for revenge." Alistair declared.
Hammerhead and Spider-Man both looked up as Alistair prepared to punch the former, ready for his revenge, as everyone watched in horror and shock, Mary Jane and Liz with their mouths open.
To be continued...
