Chapter 3: Unexpected Friends
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Boom! The first chapter of 2021 is up and ready. I hope this starts the year off right for us. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
On the outskirts of New York City, a red Bio-Ship flew in allowing Robin, Superboy, Artemis, Kid Flash, Aqualad and Miss Martian to see the city.
"So big city." Miss Martian said.
"And home to some of the best food you'll ever find." Kid Flash smiles.
"We can get food later." Artemis said.
"Any idea where to start looking?" Superboy asks when Robin brings up a holographic screen.
"Hmm I'm getting some sort of high energy reading. But we're gonna have to go a little deeper for me to figure out what it is." Robin said.
"Then we better get moving." Aqualad said as their Bio-Ship went into camouflage mode and they flew in.
We find ourselves in the Turtle's lair, and April was sitting with the turtles typing on her computer.
"Okay so we know the Kraang took my dad but we don't know why." April said.
"Yeah so we need to find their base or another facility." Leo said.
"Why can't we just go back to the one we rescued April from?" Mikey asks.
"Because we blew it up." Gio said.
"Oh right." Mikey said rubbing the back of his head.
"We still have that lead we've been following but other than that we don't have much else." Donnie said.
"This is gonna be harder than we thought." April said. "Shame this isn't something the Justice League would get involved with."
"Who are those guys?" Gio asks.
"You guys don't know about the Justice League? They're the world's greatest superheroes." April said.
"Superheroes?!" Mikey said with stars in his eyes.
"Uh April in case you forgot we don't get out much." Gio said gesturing around them.
"Here have a look." Typing on her laptop April brings up pictures of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Green Arrow and Red Tornado. "And these are just some of them.
"Whoa is that a robot?" Donnie said looking at Red Tornado.
"Hey what's with greenie over there?" Mikey asks looking at Martian Manhunter.
"Hey those are the guys we saw in the video on the news." Leo said.
"Yeah they fought something called Amazo." Raph recalls.
"Guess they're a pretty big deal, but those outfits don't look the best for sneaking around. Well except for that guy maybe." Leo said pointing to Batman
"They're heroes guys. Heroes don't hide in the shadows they're out in plain sight." April said.
"So what makes these guys so great?" Raph asks.
"Well they all have amazing powers or skills but instead of using it for themselves they use it to help people in need." April said.
"Wow so cool." Mikey said.
"Sure wish we had some of them helping us out." Donnie said.
"Please we can do this without a bunch of caped weirdoes." Raph crosses his arms.
"You can never see the end of a journey if you cannot see past the first step." Splinter said walking in.
"Whoa!" April said startled.
"Relax April, this is our father. Master Splinter." Gio introduced.
"Hello April O'Neil. It is a pleasure to meet you." Splinter bows his head.
"Oh uh nice to meet you too." April said bowing slightly.
"The boys told me about what happened with your father that's why I allowed them to bring you here. I know you're scared but I want you to know that will we do everything we can to help you." Splinter said.
"Thank you." April smiles when Splinter sees the pictures of the Justice League.
"Hmm they look strong." Splinter said.
"Yeah they are. You should see them in action." April said.
"Maybe someday but for now. Giovanni, escort April back to her home." Splinter orders.
"Yes Master." Giovanni nods.
"Thanks for everything. I'll see you guys later." April waves goodbye.
"Sensei do you think we can do this?" Leo asks.
"Patience my sons. Everything takes time and we will figure things out." Splinter said.
"In the meantime, we better do some scouting to see if we can find any clues for the Kraang." Donnie said as the four turtles got up.
Opening a manhole, Gio pops his head out.
"All clear." He said before climbing out and helping April up.
"Phew. How are you so used to this?" April asks catching her breath.
"Experience. Since I'm the only one who's human I come up here daily to find things for us." Gio said.
"Must be hard." April said.
"A little but the guys enjoy it." Gio said before helping April up the fire escape. "Get some rest April, if you figure anything out feel free to stop by."
"Sure thing. Night Gio." April waves as Gio smiles before leaping away to meet up with his brothers.
Across town in the warehouse district, the team were looking on some rooftops and saw several Kraang walking over to some vans.
"Who are those guys?" Artemis asks.
"I don't know but they all look so similar it's crazy." Robin said when one opened the van and revealed canisters of Mutagen and some lasers.
"What is that stuff?" Superboy asks.
"Not good that's for sure." Kid Flash said.
"Miss Martian can you try reading their minds?" Aqualad asks.
"I'm trying but I'm not getting anything." Miss Martian said.
"Wait if this is the League of Shadows where are the ninjas?" Kid Flash asks.
"Probably inside." Artemis said when Superboy heard something.
"Or maybe coming this way." Superboy said getting their attention.
"Everyone hide." Aqualad orders as ran for cover.
Looking out they saw 5 shadowy figures approach the warehouse from the other side.
'Who are they?' Miss Martian thought linking their minds.
'They must be the Ninjas from the news.' Kid Flash thought.
'Still these guys are with the League of Shadows thye're not just gonna—'
"BOOYAKASHA!" Before Artemis could finish one leaps in and crashes into the warehouse.
"Okay that was unexpected." Robin said when the other four leaped in to join the battle.
"What kind of ninjas are we dealing with?" Superboy asks.
Inside the warehouse, Gio, Leo, Raph and Donnie were struggling as they helped Mikey up and the Kraang fired at them.
"Next time you wait for my signal!" Leo said.
"And what was that back there?!" Gio asks.
"Come that was awesome." Mikey said.
"Mikey you're an idiot." Raph said as they dodged fire and leaped behind some crates.
"Enemies of Kraang known as the Turtles. Surrender to Kraang and Kraang will make your deaths as quick as Kraang can make them." Kraang said.
"Flattered but we like living." Donnie said as they drew their weapons only to duck avoid laser fire.
Grabbing a sai, Raph threw it stabbing on Kraang in the face before they leap in.
Racing in, Leo slashes ones legs before stabbing it in the chest.
Yanking the sai out of the robot Raph stabs another.
As Gio slams his tonfas down one on Kraang the squid thing attacks him but Gio grabs it.
Yelping Gio grabs it by the arms and legs. "Die you stupid brain! Die!" Gio said smashing it against the wall again and again causing it to shriek before he tossed it up and Donnie whacks it with his staff sending it flying into some crates.
"Home run!" Mikey cheers.
"Bring it on you rustbuckets! We can take anything you got!" Raph declares when an arrow flew in and exploded behind them.
"Huh?" Turning around Gio turns to see a figure leap in and pin him to the ground.
"Ugh what the?" Gio looks up to see Artemis pinned him down with an arrow inches from his face. "What the? Who are you?"
Suddenly Superboy leaps in and rams into Raph knocking him to the ground.
"Raph!" Leo gasps when Aqualad leaps in and made swords out of water clashing with him.
Donnie was about to react when he was suddenly tied up by Robin.
"Who are you guys?" Mikey asks when Kid Flash leaps in and knocks him onto his shell.
"It's over Ninjas. Tell us what the League of Shadows is up to." Kid Flash said when he noticed Mikey for the first time.
"The what?" Mikey asks.
"What the heck are you guys?" Robin asks lifting Donnie up.
Growling Raph looks up to see Superboy glaring at him. "Stay down if you know what's good for you."
"Hmm nah." Roaring in anger Raph tackles Superboy to the ground and nails multiple punches to his face before Superboy kicks him off.
"It appears the ones called Turtles have their own enemies other than Kraang." Kraang said.
"Kraang should leave the other enemies to destroy the turtles while Kraang escape." The other Kraang agrees.
Miss Martian arrives to see one Kraang look to her.
"Uh hi there." Miss Maritan said when Kraang aimed its laser at her and fired. "Whoa!" She yelps dodging it.
"Miss Martian!" Kid Flash said when Gio broke out of Artemis' hold.
"Heads up!" Gio said throwing a shuriken nailing the Kraang in the face causing it scream alerting everyone to it and when they saw the alien escape everyone got some sense snaped into them.
"Y-You saved me?" Miss Martian said surprised.
"Yeah what do you take us for monsters?" Gio asks.
"What on Earth was that?" Robin asks.
"Was that an alien?" Kid Flash asks.
"It's a Kraang. And we were trying to stop them until you guys showed up." Leo said.
"Wait so you're not of the League of Shadows?" Robin asks.
"The what?" They said.
"Who or what are you guys?" Artemis asks.
"Sorry but we gotta move. If those Kraang get away with that ooze we're all in trouble." Leo said.
"You really expect us to let you go?" Superboy asks holding Raph in a choke hold.
"Whether you let us or not is not up to you. We have a city to save." Gio said surprising them.
"Wait are you guys heroes?" Kid Flash asks.
"More like ninjas." Donnie said.
"And what are you guys?" Mikey asks.
"Uh hello." Kid Flash points to his logo.
"Uh you a fan of that Flash guy or something?" Mikey asks.
"Seriously?" He groans.
'What are these things?' Miss Martian asks.
"They appear to be some kind of turtle, but I've never encountered any kind that can do this.' Aqualad said.
'Not to mention one of them isn't even a turtle.' Artemis thought looking to Gio who was grabbing his shuriken.
"Why are you guys here?" Donnie asks.
"We were sent to investigate some missing scientists." Aqualad said.
"Oh like April's dad." Mikey said.
"Who?" They ask.
"Mikey shut up. We want them gone." Raph said hitting him.
"Who the heck are you guys? Because we're not leaving without answers." Robin said.
"Fine, I'm Leonardo."
"Raphael."
"Donatello."
"Michelangelo."
"And I'm Giovanni."
"Seriously? Those are your names?" Artemis asks.
"Our father is really into Renaissance Art." Leo said.
"Well I'm Kid Flash, this is Robin, Aqualad, Superboy and Miss Martian."
"And who are you?" Gio asks.
"Name's Artemis now start talking. Why do we need to catch those things?" Artemis asks.
"Because they are the ones who kidnapped all those scientists. We've been trying to catch them and destroy their mutagen and supplies until some idiot ruined our surprise attack." Gio said as the turtles looked at Mikey.
"Wait what's Mutagen?" Aqualad asks.
"Help us stop those vans and we'll explain." Leo said.
"It'll take forever to catch them now!" Raph said.
"If you didn't have me." Kid Flash smirks.
"What are you guys talking about?" Gio asks.
"Get ready Turtle Boy watch a pro." Artemis smirks readying her bow.
As three vans were racing down the streets Kid Flash zoomed in and knocked on the window of one.
"Hey fellas sorry to say but I'm gonna need you to pull over." Kid Flash said as the Kraang look to him.
"Kraang dispose of annoying threat." Kraang said as another Kraang opens the side door and aims a laser at him.
"Uh guys anytime now." Kid Flash said when Mikey leaps in.
"Booyakasha!" Mikey said whacking the laser out of the Kraang's hands and landing on the roof.
"Okay that was cool." Kid Flash smiles.
"Right back at ya man." Mikey smiles when Kraang fired at him making him wobble.
Using her telepathy Miss Martian lifts Mikey into the air.
"Whoa thanks." Mikey said.
"No problem." She smiles when Aqulad slashes the tires of the first van while Superboy and Raph land on the second roof and rip it off.
"Parties over Kraang." Raph glares readying a sai.
"Pull over." Superboy said as Kraang fired but he leaps off and catches the car from the front causing the Kraang to fly out.
As the final van came racing in Gio reached into his vest and pulled out some caltrops.
"Really you use a vest?" Robin asks pulling stars out of his belt.
"Hey work with what you got." Gio said as they threw them and Artemis fired an arrow piercing the wheels causing the three vans to stop but when they go to catch them a canister of mutagen broke open and flew towards Artemis.
"Lookout!" Gio said tackling Artemis out of the way as the mutagen spills and lands on a Venus Fly Trap.
Groaning Artemis looks to see Gio on top of her.
"What the heck turtle boy?" Artemis asks pushing him off. "You trying to make a move on me or something?"
"Try saving your life. If that stuff touched it would mess you up." Gio said.
"Mess you up how?" Miss Martin asks when suddenly the flower grew and transformed into a giant evil Venus Fly Trap.
"Mess you up like that!" Donnie points.
"What the heck?!" Artemis said as the Kraang lined up on the other side.
"Eliminate the threat known as the turtles and the ones now aiding the turtles." Kraang orders.
"Incoming!" Leo said as they all drew their weapons and attacked.
As the giant Venus Fly Trap lashed its head at them Robin dodge and threw multiple smoke bombs making it shriek.
"Is this a normal day for you guys?" Robin asks.
"Sort of." Leo said slashing a Kraang droid away.
"Don't suppose anyone has any other powers?" Gio asks.
As the giant Fly Trap lashed at them Superboy stopped it with his bare hands.
Moving in Aqualad and Leo slashed at it multiple times making it scream before throwing them back and escaping Superboy's grip.
On the other side, Donnie was whacking the Kraang back when Robin threw throwing stars at them.
"So what is that stuff?" Robin asks.
"We call it ooze. We were once ordinary turtles before that stuff landed on us." Donnie said.
"So it turns anything it touches into mutants?" Robin asks with his back to him.
"Yep some good, some horrible." Leo said moving in slashing multiple Kraang in half.
Racing circles around them Kid Flash stole all the lasers from the Kraang. "Looking for these fellas?"
"Kraang, our weapons have been confiscated by fast human." One Kraang said.
"Agreed Kraang, Kraang suggests making our escape to regroup." Kraang suggests.
"Hey get back here!" Artemis said firing at them when the Giant Venus Fly Trap whacks away her arrows and stands in between them and the Kraang.
"Time for the big guns. Gio shell off!" Leo said.
Hearing that Gio grins. "Oh yeah." Reaching for the shield straps Gio drops the shield before he stretched. "Man that feels good."
As the Venus Fly Trap looked to Gio he dashed out of the way with an incredible but not speed.
"Whoa he's fast." Robin said.
"I'm faster." Kid Flash scoffs.
"Heads up bro!" As Raph tosses Gio his shield Gio leaps up to the Venus Fly Trap and uses it to hold its mouth open.
"Robin now!" Gio yells.
"On it!" Throwing multiple explosives down its throat it exploded destroying the plant monster.
"Whoo way to go bro!" Mikey cheers.
Landing down Gio breathes in relief before walking to pick up his shield.
"Aw man they got away." Gio said.
"Thanks a lot fellas." Raph said.
"Hey we saved your asses." Superboy glares.
"Yeah after you messed it up for us in the first place." Raph glares.
"You wanna go?" Superboy asks.
"Bring it on." Raph said as they were about to go for round 2.
"Guys, guys stop we have bigger things to worry about." Leo said.
"Agreed. Such horrible chemiclas cannot be allowed to be in the hands of those things." Aqualad said.
"That's why we're doing this. So the Kraang can't use it to hurt others." Donnie said.
"Making such a chemical to mutate anything is extremely hard. I bet that's why they took those scientists." Kid Flash said.
"Don't suppose you guys would wanna lend us a hand?" Mikey asks.
"Our mission was to look into the missing scientists and find the League of Shadow Ninjas." Robin said.
"But since we found you our mission is over. We must report back before we can do anything else." Aqualad said.
"Yeah I guess we can let it slide this once. We gotta get home too." Leo said.
"Our dad is gonna kill us if anyone sees us." Mikey said as the turtles walked to alley.
"Uh where you guys going?" Artemis asks.
"Home." Mikey said opening a manhole causing them to cringe.
"You guys live in the sewers?" Robin cringed.
"Yep if you guys ever wanna team up again give us a call." Mikey said leaping in.
"When I see you again expect a rematch." Raph said looking at Superboy before leaping in.
"See ya round." Gio said leaping in with Leo and Donnie.
"This is nuts." Kid Flash said.
"Tell me about it." Robin said taking out a communicator. "Uh Batman you there?"
"What is it Robin? Did you find the League of Shadows?" Batman asks.
"Actually that's the thing. We found ninjas but we were way off." Robin said.
"How do you mean?" Batman asks.
"Something big is going on here Batman. And I think you need to see this." Robin said.
"We'll be right there." Batman said.
At the base, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman look as Superboy drops a Kraang Droid in front of them.
"What the heck is that?" Wonder Woman asks.
"This is what's been kidnapping those scientists in New York." Superboy said.
"They call themselves the Kraang." Robin said as Batman examines it.
"It's not made from any metal on Earth that's for sure." Batman said.
"How did you guys find these?" Superboy said.
"Turns out your League of Shadows prediction was a bust." Superboy said.
"The real ninjas that you found were the ones trying to stop these things." Artemis said.
"I see." Batman said.
"Are there more of these things?" Wonder Woman asks.
"Tons of them." Miss Martian nods.
"This could be dangerous. We'd have to stop them immediately." Batman said.
"Batman with all due respect something much bigger is happening in New York and these new allies might be of use to us." Aqualad said.
"New allies?" Batman asks.
"They're like us. New to combat but very strong. If we agree to help them in their struggle perhaps we can work out a partnership to which they help us in return." Aqualad suggests.
"Yeah imagine how good our team would be with 5 ninjas joining." Kid Flash said.
"As weird as some of them were I actually think they could be useful." Artemis said thinking of the human turtle.
"What do you think guys?" Wonder Woman asks.
Both Batman and Superman pause considering this.
The next night, the turtles were running across the rooftops.
"Yeah can't catch me guys!" Gio said taking the lead.
"Not for long!" Raph said racing after him.
Leo and Donnie try chasing after him when suddenly they heard Mikey scream causing them to stop.
"What's wrong Mikey?" Leo asks.
"It's the coolest thing I've ever seen." Mikey said.
Walking over to him they saw he was looking at the Batmobile parked in an alley.
"Whoa." Leo said.
"That is one cool car." Gio said.
"It's beautiful." Donnie said.
"What do you think something like that costs?" Raph whistles
"My soul probably. Because I'd pay that." Mikey said.
"Sorry guys not for sale." A familiar voice said when four figures leap in revealing Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash and Batman.
"I'm gonna assume that's your car." Mikey said pointing at Batman.
"Hey guys what are you doing here?" Leo asks surprised.
"Ninja Turtles?" Batman raised an eyebrow.
"Told ya we weren't kidding." Kid Flash said.
"Uh hey is something up?" Gio asks.
"We wish to offer our services in helping you 5 eliminate the Kraang threat." Aqualad said causing them to smile.
"Really? Cool." Donnie said.
"But if you guys want our help you guys gotta prove you can help us as well." Robin said.
"How so?" Raph narrows his eyes.
"This is a team that operates in the shadows. Things the League can't risk doing as of yet. Your ninja training makes you 5 good candidates but no one is assigned to this unless I say so." Batman explains.
"In short if you guys can help us on our missions, we'll help you on your missions. You can even crash at our base from time to time." Kid Flash offers.
"Wait so you're letting us be Ninjas and Superheroes. We'd be Ninja Heroes!" Mikey smiles.
"If we think you four can handle it." Batman said.
"Oh man wait until we tell Master Splinter about this." Donnie said.
"He is gonna freak out." Leo said.
"Hopefully in a good way." Gio smiles.
"So what do you think?" Robin asks as they watch the 5 brothers cheer.
"They're young, hyper and different…they'll fit right in with you guys." Batman smirks.
