Chapter 7
Morning light shone into the large bedroom where Fizz and Ozzy were both asleep, the alarm clock quiet for once since neither one had set it, deciding to sleep in a little.
An idea that would have worked had a small child not jumped on the bed.
Oliver snuck into the room, knowing his dad was a heavy sleeper, but he was quiet as he knew his papa wasn't as heavy of a sleeper. Still, he climbed up and began jumping around happily, waking up both his parents.
Fizz groaned and snuggled closer to Ozzy, who woke up and smiled at seeing his son jump around. "Your kid's awake," he whispered to Fizz quietly.
"Before the sun hits the bed, he's your kid," Fizz whispered back, not moving from his spot on the larger being's chest.
A moment later, Oliver landed right on Fizz's back, making him let out an 'Ooomph!' of surprise and making Ozzy laugh heartily before he caught the child and lifted him up.
"Someone's just asked for some raspberries to their ticklish tummy," he said playfully as Oliver tried to squirm away, but began giggling, a new sound he could now make thanks to the therapist that had been working with him. He was working on making words, but he could make sounds now and a squeal of laughter left him as Ozzy moved the boy's pajama shirt up just a little and blew a raspberry right over the child's belly button.
Fizz smiled as he watched this, noting that his son wore the racecar pajama set that he had gotten for him. The pajama top and pants were covered in all kinds of racecars and Oliver had loved it. The boy continued squealing as Ozzy blew a few more raspberries into the boy's stomach before letting him up. "What's got you all energetic today, son?" The larger being asked.
"I was hoping we could do a morning movie, since you and Papa don't have to be anywhere," the boy said, looking hopeful.
Fizz chuckled as morning movies were actually something they all looked forward to since Ozzy had suggested it a few weeks ago. Ozzy heard both his favorite jester's stomach and his son's stomach growl and he smiled. "Breakfast in bed and a movie," he decided.
A servant pushed a large breakfast cart into the room and headed out, making the three look curiously at it before Ozzy noticed a note and opened it, smiling a moment later. "It's from Bee," he said. "How did she know we were going to have breakfast in bed?"
"Not sure," Fizz said with a shrug before lifting off the lid covering a plate and his eyes widened. "Oh, whoa. I think her personal chef made breakfast."
Ozzy looked and was surprised too. "Wonder what the occasion is?" He asked.
His phone rang and he answered it to see it was Bee and she was grinning. "Hey, guys!" She said. "Just calling to make sure you got breakfast."
"We did, thank you," Fizz said and Ozzy echoed him. Oliver waved at the camera, to which Bee waved back.
"Hey, kiddo!" She said, smiling. "Were they surprised?"
He nodded and Fizz and Ozzy turned to the child before looking back at Bee, everything clicking into place. "So that's how she knew," the jester said, giving his son a knowing, amused look.
Bee chuckled. "The little guy texted me the other day and was telling me about your guys' movie mornings and I asked him if you guys did breakfast in bed. When he said you all hadn't yet, I just had to help out my nephew," she said.
Oliver looked surprised that Bee thought of him so highly, but Ozzy wasn't surprised. "I think you've earned the title of aunt, Bee," he said.
"Oh, I can't wait to spoil him more!" She squealed happily, making the three smile. "Well, I've got a meeting this morning. You guys take care and enjoy."
"We will. Thanks, Bee," Ozzy said as the three settled down to eat and watch a movie. After a few hours, they all got up for the day, seeing it was nearly lunchtime. "Froggie, why don't you take Oliver to the amusement park for today?" He suggested. "I've got to look over a few things for work, but I don't know how long I'll be."
"The new shipment?" Fizz asked.
"Yes. Hopefully it'll be just for an hour or so."
"Okay," the jester said, looking at his son who looked excited to go to the park. "Go get ready, kiddo, and we'll head out," he said gently to the boy.
As Fizz was getting dressed himself, his phone rang and he saw it was Blitz. "Hey, Blitz, what's up?" He asked.
"Well, I figured I should let you know...you're an uncle," Blitz said.
Fizz nearly fell over in shock. "What?!" He asked in surprise before shaking out of his stupor. "You have a kid too?" He asked.
"Yup. Her name's Loona and I adopted her too," he said. "I was thinking she should know about her uncle and I thought maybe I could meet my nephew you mentioned the other day."
"Well, Oliver and I were going to go to the amusement park," the jester said. "If you guys want to tag along, I'm cool with it. Plus it'll give Oliver and Loona the chance to meet."
It wasn't long before the two fathers and their kids were at the amusement park. Loona looked a little bored before she saw Fizz coming up and he had a kid with him. "He's a dad too?" She asked.
"Yup, he is," Blitz said. "And if I'm not mistaken, that's your new cousin, Oliver."
Fizz smiled at them and hugged Blitz. "Hey, fellow dad," he said teasingly.
"Hey, knucklehead," Blitz joked back, smiling before gesturing to his daughter. "This is my daughter Loona. Loona, these are your uncle Fizz and I believe your cousin, Oliver."
The jester nodded and smiled up at Loona. "Hey, kiddo," he said. "Let me know if I go overboard, okay? I've never been an uncle before, so I'm still kind of new to it."
She smiled. "I've never really had an uncle before, or a cousin either," she admitted.
Oliver looked at her with wide eyes and she noticed. "Hey, squirt," she said with a nod. "You wanna go on some rides while our dads shoot the breeze?"
He nodded and began signing, to which she smiled. "Oh, cool, sign language," she said before signing back, making him light up.
Fizz chuckled before looking at Oliver. "Oliver, do you want to keep your hearing device in or take it off?" He asked. "It's going to be a bit loud in there."
The boy thought for a moment and then signed that he wanted to keep it on. Fizz looked up at Loona. "Oliver wears a device that allows him to hear and he can remove it if necessary. If he need to do that, can you hold onto it and keep an eye on him?" He asked.
"Sure thing, Fizz," she said, feeling a bit awkward at calling him 'uncle' right away, which he noticed and smiled.
"Hey, you don't have to call me 'Uncle Fizz' right away," he reassured her. "You're still my niece, kiddo, no matter what."
She smiled at him and Blitz smiled too as he and Fizz watched their children go into the park and Loona let Oliver choose the first ride. "I wonder if she took care of a child when she was younger," Blitz said, noticing how his daughter paid attention to his nephew and seemed to consider his feelings first.
"Maybe she did," Fizz said, also noticing and he noted the huge smile Oliver had on his face. "I think it's safe to say our kids will be awesome cousins to each other."
They watched Oliver point to a game and Loona took him over to it, but the person running the game was being a jerk to the young boy, who had hit the target, but the man still refused to give the boy the prize. "Look here, my cousin won that prize fair and square," Loona growled, trying to be civil. "You either give it to him or you're not going to like the consequences."
"What you going to do, dirtbag?" The man sneered. "Make the stupid kid give me a mean look?"
Fizz and Blitz both tensed and glared over at the man. "Oh, no one talks to my daughter and nephew like that," Blitz growled.
"No one talks to my son and niece like that," Fizz also growled, both going over to their kids and looking at the man angrily.
The man just smiled. "Run along now," he said. "The kid didn't win anything."
Fizz and Blitz were about to really get angry, but Loona touched their shoulders and indicated to Oliver, who was on the verge of tears. Both fathers decided that Oliver was their main priority and took the boy somewhere else to comfort him.
Loona, on the other hand, moved out of sight and thought for a moment before pulling out her phone, recalling she had memorized Ozzy's number on her dad's phone when the larger being had called not too long ago. She now dialed it and hoped he'd pick up.
Ozzy saw the unfamiliar number and was confused, but answered it. "Hello?" He asked.
"Hi, this is Ozzy, right? You live with my uncle Fizz?"
The larger being blinked. "Who is this?" He asked, noting the voice sounded young.
"I'm Loona, Blitz's daughter," she said. "I need some help."
Ozzy could sense something was wrong, "What happened, kiddo?" He asked.
"There's this worker at the amusement park that me, Oliver, Uncle Fizz, and Dad are at and Oliver played a game and he won, but the worker didn't want to give him the prize. Plus he called Oliver 'stupid'."
Ozzy's flames flared. "He called my son 'stupid'?" He asked to clarify, barely keeping the anger out of his voice. "What did he call you, kiddo? I can hear it in your voice that the worker was rude to you. Tell Uncle Ozzy what the man called you."
Something about his tone made her realize that like her dad, Ozzy was going into protective mode. "He called me a dirtbag," she said. "But I'm fine. Names don't bother me. Dad and Uncle Fizz took Oliver to another part of the park to comfort him. I think they wanted to teach the guy a lesson and I did too, but not with Oliver watching."
Ozzy nodded, seeing his niece was thinking about her cousin. "I'll be right there, kiddo," he said, arriving in moments.
Blitz got Oliver some ice cream and got himself and Fizz some soda, which the jester gratefully accepted and gave his friend a grateful look. "Thanks, Blitz," he said.
"No worries, Fizz," his friend said before looking at Oliver. "You feeling better, buddy?"
The child nodded, smiling gratefully at his uncle. Just then, a scream rang out and they looked up to see a burst of red flame that faded fast and the next thing they saw were Ozzy and Loona coming towards them, the girl looking very pleased and the larger being holding something.
"Ozzy," Fizz said in surprise. "When'd you drop by?"
"Just a few moments ago," the larger being said. "My niece informed me of an incident and asked if I could help out and I couldn't say 'no', especially since it was for my son."
Blitz looked at his daughter in surprise and she shrugged, trying to look innocent, but was smiling. He smiled back, seeing she had called Ozzy because she cared about her cousin.
Ozzy kneeled in front of Oliver and handed him the stuffed dragon plushie from the game he had won. "I spoke to that nice man and he asked me to give this to you," he said.
Blitz and Fizz immediately picked up on what Ozzy wasn't saying, but didn't say a word. Loona sent a recording of the standoff to her dad, who nearly spat out his soda at seeing it and quickly shared it with Fizz, whose jaw dropped before he began laughing.
"Remind me to never make you or Uncle Fizz mad, Uncle Ozzy," Loona said.
Both turned to her, stunned she called them her uncles. "I could never be mad at my sweet niece," Fizz said instantly, gently squeezing his niece's shoulder.
The families decided to stick around the amusement park a bit longer, word spreading quickly to the other workers and none of them dared to speak so ill of either Oliver or Loona. Blitz wondered if it was because of Ozzy's presence, but he wasn't going to complain. He then saw something that he and Fizz used to do all the time as kids. "Hey, Fizz, you up for some stunts?" He asked, pointing over to the activity.
The jester grinned. "Are you up for it?" He asked teasingly.
"Oh, you're on, clown!" Blitz said, running for the launchpad with Fizz behind him.
"What are those two up to?" Loona asked.
Ozzy smiled. "Just watch," he said, lifting Oliver up to one shoulder. "Want a boost so you can have a better view of your dad and uncle, kiddo?"
She was surprised, but nodded. "Okay," she said, letting him pick her up and place her on his free shoulder.
Blitz and Fizz were flying through the air, doing all sorts of tricks and it seemed they were trying to outdo each other, but then towards the end, Fizz grabbed Blitz's hand and they flew through the air like how they used to do when they were kids, both finishing in perfect poses, making the spectators clap in amazement.
Oliver was stunned, as was Loona. "I've never seen Dad do that before," she said in awe.
"I believe it's from their circus days," Ozzy said, smiling. "Looks like they still got it."
Both Fizz and Blitz were soon on the ground and they were laughing in a care-free manner. "Oh, man. I had almost forgotten what a thrill that was," Blitz admitted.
"I almost did too," the jester replied. "Think the kids enjoyed watching us?"
Blitz looked over at Ozzy and saw their kids up on the larger being's shoulders. "Judging by Oliver's dropped jaw and Loona's look of awe, I'd say yes," he said.
"Let's do it again!" Fizz said, dragging Blitz over to the start of the trapzee.
Everyone seemed to want to see more, so the two did all sorts of tricks, recalling back from their circus days, fully trusting each other as they flipped around in the air and again landed in a perfect pose at the end before Fizz grabbed Blitz and used the stretching ability on his legs to spring through the air, aiming for Ozzy, who saw them coming and grinned. "Hold on, you two," he said to his son and niece as the larger being adjusted his height to be a bit taller and he held out his arms, catching both Fizz and Blitz successfully. The jester was giggling like crazy and Blitz was grinning. Loona chuckled and Oliver was in awe, as were other spectators, who clapped and the two former circus performers stood up in Ozzy's hands and took a bow.
After a bit longer, Ozzy noticed it was getting late and Oliver was in Loona's arms, resting his head on her shoulder. Fizz and Blitz were looking a bit tired too, to which Ozzy scooped them up into his arms and looked at Loona and held out a hand. Smiling at her uncle, she accepted and let him scoop her up too, making sure she had a protective hold on her cousin as the larger being took them all to the palace. "There's guest rooms available for you and Loona to stay the night, Blitz," he said graciously.
"Thanks," Blitz said sleepily.
Loona was feeling a bit tired too and noticed Oliver was ready to fall asleep as well. "Think we're all about ready to go to sleep," she admitted.
To her surprise, Ozzy took her to one of the guest rooms and both he and Fizz gently tucked her into bed, to which she smiled. "Night, kiddo," Fizz said, gently squeezing her shoulder.
"Thank you for being so kind to Oliver," Ozzy said.
"He's a cool cousin," she admitted before seeing Oliver wave to her.
"You're cool too," he signed to her, making her smile before she fell asleep.
Fizz then took Oliver to put him to bed and Ozzy took Blitz to another guest room, the smaller being barely awake. He stirred a little as Ozzy tucked him into bed. "I'm glad you and Froggie are friends again, Blitz," he said. "And that my son has an awesome uncle who cares about him as much as Froggie and I do."
"No...problem," Blitz said with a yawn before he fell sound asleep.
Ozzy then headed to his and Fizz's room and found his favorite jester waiting for him. "Hey, big guy," the jester said with a smile.
The larger being smiled and hugged him before tucking him into bed and then falling asleep beside him, all five sleeping peacefully through the night.
