Guest reviewer: I'm sorry I didn't make it more clear, Moira extended the invitation for Felicity to come to the funeral. She just had Tommy be the one to contact her. She had so much going on that when Tommy asked how he could help she gave him Felicity's number and asked him to invite her. Hope that clears it up! Thank you for pointing it out.
The next several days passed with Felicity spending time with Thea, watching their favorite movies and doing each other's nails, during which Thea spoke about Oliver and what he would do with her, while Moira rarely came out of her room. Felicity didn't want to overstay her welcome and was packing up her suitcase when Thea came into the room.
"What are you doing?" Thea asked.
"I figured that you're probably getting sick of me and ready to do whatever it is you usually do on summer break." Felicity said folding her clothes into the suitcase. "Plus, I need to do some laundry, I'm just about out of clean clothes."
"Just ask Raisa, she does the laundry. And please don't leave yet!" Thea pleaded as she threw herself into one of the chairs. "Mom won't leave her room, Tommy's busy, and you're the only person I've been talking to and hanging with lately."
"Are you sure?" Felicity asked, "You must have friends that you normally hang out with." She had enjoyed the last several days getting to know Thea. She was a sweet girl who had a bright future ahead of her.
"Most of my friends are out of the country or away on their summer vacations, and the few that are here keep acting all weird." Thea groused. "Plus, it's kinda fun watching you try to fix all of the laptops that Tommy's friends keep bringing." Once word had gotten out that Felicity could get their electronics working without being chastised she had more work than she could handle and a pretty steady income.
"If you're sure." Felicity said slowly.
"I'm sure!" Thea said eagerly.
"Okay, I need to call my mom then and let her know." Felicity said as she started putting her clothes back in the room.
"Great! I'll let Raisa know." With that Thea scampered out of the room.
It felt good to be needed, but she did need to check in with her mom. She pulled out her cell and hit her mom's number, she answered after three rings. "If that's you Mr. Jackson you can complain all you want but I'm not doing anything wrong."
"Mom, it's me." Felicity said with a sigh.
"Oh, hi sweetheart."
"I told you to program my number in that way my picture and name will pop up when I call." Felicity explained for the hundredth time.
"You know I'm not good with technology. Are you headed back home for a while?" Donna asked hopefully.
"Sorry Mom. I'm gonna stay for a bit longer because they still need me here," she said apologetically.
"Hon they're rich, what could they possibly need you for?" Donna asked bewildered.
Felicity contemplated bashing her head in, "Mom, just because they have money doesn't mean that they have everything. Right now, they are still dealing with the loss of Mr. Queen and Oliver. As a result Moira is pretty much a recluse and Thea needs a friend."
"You're such a sweetheart! Did I tell you that you got a postcard letting you know that your next," Donna paused and lowered her voice, "lady doctor, appointment is in a couple of days."
"Mom, you don't have to whisper! I'll call and cancel it." Felicity said shaking her head.
"Don't forget to reschedule it. You have to make sure that you keep a close eye on my grandbaby!" Donna ordered.
"Okay, I won't forget, but have to go. Bye Mom." Felicity said as she rolled her eyes.
"Bye baby!" Donna called then she hung up.
Felicity sighed. She hated going to the doctor by herself, then a thought hit her, it was one of those three birds one stone situation. With a plan in place she walked down to Moira's room. After being granted permission to enter, she walked in to see Moira sitting in her dressing gown in front of her make-up table.
"Felicity my dear, please do come sit." She patted the chair beside her. "How are you feeling?"
"A lot better, thank you. Much less nausea and way more energy." Thea had made fun of the amount times that she had dozed off when they were trying to watch a movie. "But I do have a favor to ask if you don't mind. Could you help me find a good ob/gyn here in Starling since Thea asked if I could stay for a while? I'm due for my next visit in Vegas, but she wasn't my favorite doctor." It was a little white lie; there had been nothing wrong with the doctor, she had been fine.
"Of course!" A smile lit up Moira's face. "I'm friends with Jane Gallian she's the head of Starling General's neonatal department so she's bound to be able to recommend an excellent ob/gyn. Let me give her a ring." This was the most animated that Felicity had seen Moira since before the funeral, and after chatting on the phone for a bit Moira jotted something down on a notepad and bade her friend good bye. "She gave me the name of the doctor she personally would see and it's the same doctor that delivered Thea. Do you have any preference for an appointment date?"
Felicity shook her head, "Whenever the next available is will be fine with me."
"I'll get that set up for you and let you know when it is." Moira said.
Taking that as a dismissal Felicity thanked her and wandered downstairs. Hearing the TV she went into the drawing room to see Thea on the couch flipping through the channels. "Anything good on?" Felicity asked as she entered the room and sat down beside Thea.
"Nope, you'd think that with as many channels as we have we'd be able to find something good." She turned off the TV and turned to Felicity. "Want to take me out for ice cream?"
Mint chocolate chip ice cream did sound wonderful, but she was starting to notice that many of her clothes were no longer fitting her the best. "Not today, my pants are already getting to tight so I don't think that I need ice cream helping the baby."
Thea's eyes lit up, "We could always go clothes shopping."
Moira appeared in the doorway and said, "Thea, you have enough clothes. You can't possibly need anymore." She turned to Felicity and handed her a piece of paper with her neat and precise writing on it. "I was able to get you an appointment for tomorrow at one o'clock with Dr. Frazier. She's not the doctor that I saw when I had Thea, but she's in the same practice."
"Thank you, Moira," Felicity hesitated, wanting to really sell the act. "Do you think you would be able to come with me? I don't really know where the office is or my way around Starling. Plus, it will be nice to have someone with me who has been there before."
A small smile appeared on Moira's face, "Of course my dear."
"And then we can go clothes shopping!" Thea interjected. At her mother's withering look Thea pleaded, "It's not for me, it's for Felicity! With her starting to show, her clothes are getting too tight."
Felicity shrugged, "I have been meaning to go and look at some maternity clothes, but I just haven't made the time."
"Oh, and we can get lunch beforehand." Thea added getting excited.
"So, lunch, doctor's appointment, and then clothes shopping?" Moira asked.
Two heads nodded; Felicity held her breath hoping that Moira would agree.
"I do suppose we could do that." Moira said, "I'll let Taylor know we will be needing a driver for tomorrow." With that she walked out.
"Good job getting Mom out of the house," Thea said with a smirk, letting Felicity know she had figured out the plan.
The next day the three ladies had a nice lunch, and while Felicity and Moira went into the office for the appointment, Thea stayed in the waiting room researching maternity clothing stores. Felicity liked the doctor immediately and appreciated her answering all the questions that she had. When it was time for the ultrasound Felicity was excited at the prospect of seeing her baby again.
"If we get a chance to see the baby's gender, do you want me to let you know? Dr. Frazier asked. Felicity bit her bottom lip; she both did and didn't want to know. Picking up on Felicity's dilemma Dr. Frazier said, "I can wait to see if the baby will even let us see and then ask again, if that's okay?"
"That sounds good," Felicity answered, momentarily relieved.
Moira had stepped to the other side of the bed to better see the monitor, "I found out with Oliver, he wasn't shy in letting us know he was a boy. Thea on the other hand was a bit more modest. She wouldn't let us find out until I was about eight months!"
The doctor squirted the warmed gel on Felicity's lower abdomen and the whoosh-whoosh sound of the baby's heartbeat sounded in the room, bring tears to Felicity's eyes.
"Good strong heartbeat," Dr. Frazier commented. Moving the probe around she said, "baby's looking good, but you can't tell the gender yet as the back is to us." The doctor looked around a little bit longer then asked, "Would you like some pictures?"
"Yes," Both Felicity and Moira answered.
"I'll print two copies. But everything is looking great and we'll see you next month. If you have any questions, just let me know." While she had been talking she cleaned the gel off of Felicity's stomach and once she handed them the pictures they were ready to go. When they left the exam room Felicity headed to the desk to schedule her next appointment and to pay for this one. After scheduling the next appointment Moira held out her card to the receptionist, "Put the visit on this card."
"You don't need to pay for it," Felicity protested.
"That's my grandbaby that you are carrying, if Oliver was here, he'd insist on paying. So, I'm just doing what my son would do." Moira said steadfastly. "We are going to get you on the company insurance plan, and then we won't have to worry about anything."
"Thank you," Felicity said as they all walked out of the office.
Once they were in the car, Thea leaned up and gave the driver directions. Sitting back down she explained. "I found this super cute store called Oh Baby, and I think that you'll love it!" Thea said excitedly.
"How about we go to a thrift shop or consignment shop?" Felicity suggested. Mother and daughter looked at her with the same, puzzled expression on their faces. "I'm only going to be wearing the clothes for a few months, so I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that I can't wear forever."
Thea laughed, "Don't worry about that, Mom's buying."
"No, she already paid for the doctor's visit." Felicity protested.
"As I said before that's my grandbaby, I'm allowed to spoil him or her, which means paying for things for you." She paused a small smile on her face, "Plus it will be nice to see you in some brighter clothes." Moira said as Thea tried not to laugh but failed and started giggling.
"Fine," Felicity agreed reluctantly, just happy that Moira was out of the house and seemed to be in good spirits.
The shopping trip was a success. Felicity allowed Moira to pick out one outfit, but the store had a decent sized selection of clothes that she would enjoy wearing. And just like she said she would Moira picked up the bill without even letting Felicity see the total, which she knew had to be pretty expensive.
Thea and Felicity had both hoped that by getting Moira out of the house, she would start to leave the house more. Unfortunately, they couldn't get her to leave except for something that involved the baby. The second appointment came and went with the baby still not cooperating to see the gender. School would be starting soon, and Felicity was hesitant to schedule the next appointment, telling Moira that she would probably need to find a doctor in Boston.
"Why on earth would you need to do that?" Moira asked. "We can just send the plane for you so that way we get to see you and you get to stay with the doctor that you like. If you book it around a weekend, you can stay the whole weekend, instead of just for the appointment."
Feeling relieved Felicity agreed, she was still worried about Moira and the fact that she refused to leave the house unless it had to do with the baby. Even after Thea started back to school and Felicity started to pack up her room in preparation to go back to MIT, Moira still wasn't interested in leaving the house. Felicity was the one who usually brought Thea to and from school until one morning when they heard the doorbell ring. The three of them had just finished breakfast and none of them knew who it might be. Felicity was surprised when it turned out that it was Walter Steele from the funeral.
He strode over to Moira and said sternly, "Go get dressed we need to go to the office."
"But…" Moira started to protest.
"Would you please hurry up; I don't want to be late." He said impassively as if Moira hadn't said anything at all.
After looking at him for a few seconds Moira rose and turned to Felicity, "Would you mind dropping Thea off at school and picking her up afterwards?"
Felicity nodded and Moira left the room, both girls looked at him in awe. "Thank you, Walter." Thea said as she left to get ready for school. Felicity went to follow.
"You are looking radiant, Ms. Smoak." Walter complemented her.
"Thank you, Mr. Steele."
"Please call me Walter," he responded with a smile. "Now I believe that you need to get ready so that you can drive Thea to school."
Thea and Felicity came down the steps just in time to see Moira leaving with Walter. "That was awesome!" Thea exclaimed.
Felicity was a bit more reserved, but it was another step in the right direction. Feeling a weird sensation, like a fluttering in her stomach she looked down, and then back up in excitement. "I think I just felt the baby move!"
"Really?" Thea asked. "That's so cool! What does it feel like?"
The sensation had gone away, "I can't really describe it." She looked at her watch, "And if we don't hustle, you're going to be late for school."
"You know we could always just go out and celebrate Mom going and you feeling the baby move and skip school." Thea tried.
"No such luck kiddo." Felicity said as she led the way to one of the cars that the Queen family owned.
"Ollie would have let me." Thea said petulantly.
"Nice try, invoking the dead brother." Felicity said tartly. "Answer's still no." Felicity slid behind the wheel of the car she had been driving lately. When Moira had told her, she could borrow any of the cars in the garage she had thought that there would be maybe two or three, but to her surprise there were six cars to choose from along with a couple of motorcycles in the back. She would be leaving for MIT in a couple of days and would definitely miss this time with the family. At dinner that night Moira joined Thea and Felicity at the dining table instead of taking the meal in her room, and she asked about Thea's day and talked about how things were at Queen Consolidated. Thea was elated.
Going up to their rooms, Thea gave Felicity a huge hug. "I think I've got my mom back!"
Felicity wrapped her arms around the girl, "I'm so glad."
Letting go Thea asked, "So, how about a movie night?"
Glancing at her watch Felicity stipulated, "As long as your homework is done, and it's just one movie."
"I've got a bit more homework to do, but I can always finish that in the morning."
"Not while I am here!" Felicity stated, "School is important. You go finish your homework and I'll work on packing. Then when you're done come get me. I'll check over it and we can watch the movie and it's your pick!"
"Fine," Thea said dramatically, retreating to her room to get started.
Smiling, Felicity walked into her room, which was beside Thea's. She had most of her stuff packed, and it was easily twice what she had arrived with.
Going back to MIT was both exciting and a bit scary. She had doubled down on her classes this semester so that way she could have a lighter load after the baby was born. Stepping into her dorm room she finally felt like she was back. Moira had wanted her to get an apartment near campus and had offered to pay for it after Felicity had explained how expensive they were, but Felicity put her foot down. She liked living on campus and they had given her a family room this year so that way she would have a room all to herself and a place to put the crib when the baby got here.
The classes were difficult and Felicity used the monthly plane ride to Starling to do cram sessions. It seemed to be working because despite being tired practically all the time Felicity was still getting top grades in all of her classes. On one of the check-ups the baby finally decided to cooperate and they were excited to find out that Felicity was having a girl!
"Come on, can't we please go buy some clothes for the baby?" Thea pleaded after being picked up from school by Moira and Felicity who told her that she was going to have a niece.
"Thea, I don't want a huge pile of clothes that she'll never have the chance to wear. Babies grow so quickly; we definitely won't need sixty newborn outfits!" Felicity explained.
"And you will get items as well if you have a baby shower," Moira paused, then looked at Felicity and asked. "Are you planning on having a baby shower?"
Pausing for a moment, Felicity said, "I don't think so. The few friends I have at MIT are broke and more the type to give you a gift card, and beside for you guys and Tommy, I don't really know anybody here yet."
"We could throw you a shower and introduce you to everyone! I know the perfect caterer, and one of my friend's older sisters had a baby shower and they played the coolest games." Thea exclaimed excitedly.
"Thea!" Moira commanded, stopping her daughter's excited rambling. "How about you ask Felicity if she wants a shower."
"Not really, I'm not a big party person." Felicity said, but hating the look of disappointment on both Thea's and Moira's faces she came up with an idea. "But what if we do this? For my next appointment we can do a mini-shower. I'll have my mom fly in and it can be the four of us. You can do cake and presents and maybe a game or two."
Thea squealed in excitement, "Thank you! Can I invite Tommy?"
"I'm not really sure if he'd want to come, but sure invite away. Now for the important question. What are we getting for a snack, 'cause the baby wants food." Felicity said as she rubbed her bump enjoying the feeling of her little girl moving inside her.
When she called her mom that night with the news that she was having a little girl Felicity knew that all the glass in the immediate area had been broken by the loud squealing that came from her. "Mom, I think you broke my ear drum."
"I'm just so excited for you! My baby girl is having her own baby girl! You'll have so much fun with dressing her up and well, hopefully, she'll like hair bows more than you did."
Rolling her eyes Felicity continued, "I know you've been asking to meet the Queens and if you can get the weekend off next month, I'd like you to come to the appointment and then they are planning on doing a small baby shower for me."
Another loud squeal came from the phone, "Of course! Ohhhhh, are you going to pick me up on that fancy jet that they fly you around in?"
"That's the plan." Felicity said.
Another squeal came through the line, "This day just keeps getting better and better!" They talked about a few other things before hanging up.
Between schoolwork and preparing to welcome the baby, the next month passed quickly and before Felicity knew it was time for the baby shower weekend. Thea had been strangely tight lipped about what she had planned, so Felicity had figured that the girl had probably gone all out. Moira had called and apologized that she wouldn't be able to be there to pick her up from the airport and accompany her to the appointment, but had assured Felicity that they would have one of the family cars waiting for her. As a result, Donna went with her to the appointment.
Pulling up to the Queen mansion after her doctor's appointment Felicity was happy to see that there were no external signs of a huge event. Once the car came to a stop Thea burst out of the house carrying a crown and a sash. "Put these on." The teen demanded as she thrust the items towards Felicity.
"Hi Felicity, how was your trip? Did your appointment go okay? I've missed you." Felicity snarked at her.
"Sorry," Thea said looking slightly chastised. "I hope the trip and the appointment went well. I'm very happy to see you, now will you please put these on?"
"Fine," Felicity put the thankfully cheap looking tiara on her head. She wouldn't put it past the Queens to have real tiaras stuck in a closet somewhere.
"This place is amazing!" Donna Smoak gushed.
Felicity's head popped up; she had forgotten that her mom was with her. "Mom, I'd like to introduce you to Thea Queen, Oliver's sister. Thea, this is my mom, Donna."
"Hi sweetheart! It's lovely to meet you!" Donna exclaimed before wrapping Thea in a tight hug.
"Sorry, I forgot to warn you, she's a hugger." Felicity apologized.
"Nice meeting you too. Ms. Smoak." Thea said after Donna let her go.
"Just call me Donna. I can't wait to see the inside." Then turning to her daughter. "Come here Lissy, let me fix that. You can't go in there looking like that." As Donna fussed over her Felicity rolled her eyes, but let her mom fix the tiara and her hair.
Thea led them through the house and into the sitting room where there were balloons, streamers, and a couple of tables set up and everything in it was awash in shades of pink and white. One table had a plethora of gifts, while on another was a beautiful cake. The cake was also decorated in pink and white, but it looked beautiful with all the rosettes on it and the 'oh baby' sign on the top. In the room was Moira, Tommy, and, to Felicity's surprise, Sara Lance. In keeping with traditional baby showers Thea started them off with a game where they had to guess the melted candy in a diaper. Tommy sniffed so close that he got chocolate on his nose. The cake tasted as good as it looked, and Felicity was very happy that the presents weren't over the top.
Moira stood up, "Thea and I have one more present for you Felicity. If you'll join us upstairs." Thea was grinning ear to ear and just about vibrating in place. The group followed Moira up the stairs to Thea's room. "Open the door," Moira instructed with a smile on her face.
Felicity was confused but did as she had been instructed and when she saw what was inside she gasped in surprise. No longer was this Thea's room, instead it was a nursery that looked like it came straight out of a fairytale. Three of the walls were a painted a soft pink color, and the fourth had a mural of a fairytale landscape painted across it. The crib was white with pink sheets and netting wrapped around it giving it a whimsical look that Felicity absolutely adored.
"Oh! It turned out so good!' Donna said bouncing up and down and clapping her hands.
Felicity turned to her mom, "You knew!"
"Yes! Thea called me and the three of us put our heads together for the design." Donna said, grinning ear to ear. "It was so hard not to spill the beans!"
Overwhelmed by the wonderfulness of the room and hormones Felicity began to cry. "I swear these are happy tears. This room is amazing." Donna hugged her daughter, pressing a kiss on her head.
Moira stepped up beside them, "And when you pick a name for the baby, we can put it above the crib."
"Thank you," Felicity said as more tears made their way down her cheeks and she gave Moira a hug.
Not one to show her emotions, Moira simply smiled and patted Felicity on the back. " Let's go down and have dinner. I've had Raisa make your favorite meal." The group of six made their way to the dining room where Raisa had everything ready.
"So, any ideas for names?" Tommy asked, "I still think Thomasina is a great name for a little girl." Sara just about choked on the drink she had just sipped as she laughed.
"I've suggested some of our family's names such as Deborah, Esther, and Naomi. But Felicity didn't like any of those." Donna said shaking her head.
"My mother's name was Cathleen," Moira volunteered. "Robert's mother was Rachel."
"I haven't decided if I'm looking for a family name or not." Felicity said shrugging.
"I've got an idea," Thea said softly. When they all looked at her, she said, "What about Olivia? Her nickname can be Liv. Or it could be her middle name?"
"Olivia," Felicity tried the name out. "Olivia Queen." Everyone around the table smiled, "I think I found her first name." She looked down at her belly, "What do you think Olivia Queen, do you like your name?" She felt a hard kick in answer to her question. "Ooh, I think that's a yes! Now I just have to think about the middle name."
Sara said, "You can always go the Lorelei Gilmore route and name her after you."
"I don't think Olivia Felicity Queen flows very well." Felicity stated.
"No, but Olivia Megan Queen does," Donna said.
Smiling Felicity said it out loud, "Olivia Meghan Queen, that does flow well." She looked down at her baby bump, "I think we've found your name little one, Olivia Meghan Queen." Felicity felt another kick and announced, "I think she likes it!"
"And here I thought Thomasina Queen had a nice ring to it." Tommy teased.
"Hey Tommy, guess what?" Thea asked. "We actually do have an ancestor named Thomazine Fisher. I found that out when I had to do our family tree. I was able to trace our line back to her in the sixteen hundreds in France. Or was it England? I forget get which one."
Tommy laughed, "I remembered that assignment, I think I hired a genealogist to do the research work for me."
The group talked and enjoyed their food for a while longer until Moira was the first to leave. "You'll have to pardon me; it's been a long day and I'm not as young as I once was." She paused and then added, "Thea perhaps you'll join me for a bit."
"Yes Mom," was the put-upon teenager's response. The two rose and left the room.
"It's been a long day for me also," Donna said as she stood up. Walking over to her daughter she gave her a kiss on the head. "You stay with you friends, I can find my room, night!"
"Night Mom." Felicity called. "You guys want to go back in the drawing room? Baby wants another slice of that cake."
"I wouldn't mind another slice as well." Sara said.
"If you both are having more cake, you can't leave me out!" Tommy protested.
While they had been eating supper, the room had been tidied. All of the wrapping paper had been disposed of the bags stacked and the gifts organized. Once everybody had gotten their slice of cake Felicity settled in the corner of the couch with Tommy at the other end and Sara pulled up a chair in the middle.
"Sara, thanks for coming to the shower, I was a bit surprised to see you here though. I didn't think that you liked me very much." Felicity said, curious about Sara's response.
"Tommy was at our house, probably to make sure Laurel and I didn't kill each other, when Thea called to tell him about the shower. You seemed really cool, and it also helped that it pissed Laurel off, so win-win." Sara said as she shrugged and took another bite of the cake.
"How are you and Laurel doing?" Felicity asked.
"Getting along wise, not that great. If she stepped in front of a bus right now, I'd have a hard time caring. She can be a real bitch sometimes." Sara said shoving some cake into her mouth to prevent her from saying anything else.
"Hey, give her a break Sara. These last few months haven't been easy on her," Tommy protested.
"They haven't been easy on me either, Tommy. I loved him too," Sara looked away tears sliding down her cheeks. "and I never got the chance to tell him that or to see if what we had was real or if it was just him running from Laurel." Setting her cake down she wiped the tears off her face angrily.
Felicity reached out and took Sara's hand. "I'm so sorry Sara."
Sara sniffed, "I should be saying that to you with…" She let go of Felicity's hand and gestured at her protruding stomach.
Rubbing her baby bump Felicity smiled. "It's so weird for me, I didn't really know him or get to connect with him like you guys did."
Tommy smirked at her, "Oh I think you connected with him just fine, Smoak."
Felicity picked up a pillow and smacked him on the arm. "Is your brain always in the gutter Merlyn?"
"Yes, yes, it is." Sara answered for him as she picked her plate up, and grinned as she took another bite of cake.
"Just tell me if I am being too big of a busy body or it's too painful, but how did the whole you and Oliver thing start?" Felicity asked, looking at Sara.
A dark look passed over Sara's eyes, and she paused for a second before turning to Tommy, "Do you remember that party of yours that got raided by my dad?"
"Do I?" Tommy scoffed, "Of course I do. Robert had to come bail Ollie and I out of jail and in true Ollie fashion he didn't remember anything about it the next day." Tommy said and rolled his eyes, "Robert took our keys away for a month for that incident."
"A month?" Sara questioned, a knowing look on her face.
Tommy grinned, "Okay, so Moira got him to relent and give them back to us in about a week." A frown appeared on his face. "Why do you ask?"
"I wasn't supposed to be there, but I'd overheard the other students talking about it, so I snuck out that night." She turned to Felicity, "I had this huge crush on Ollie and Laurel knew that I planned on trying to talk to him that night. She told our dad and said that there was going to be drugs and underage drinking so that's why the party got raided. When Dad caught me at the party I was under parental house arrest for a month, and when I finally got to come up for air I found out that the amazing, wonderful, Laurel was dating Ollie. So down the line when we were at another party and my sister had just had another screaming match with a drunk Ollie and left, I decided to say screw it and I kissed him." She looked down and picked at the seam of her pants, "It wasn't my best moment and he looked so guilty at first." A small smile appeared on her face, "But when we spent any time together it was like the sun was shining on me, and he made me feel special and important. Not just the 'amazing Laurel's' screwed up little sister." She shrugged, "And I liked that feeling more than I cared about how my sister felt." Sara looked first at Tommy then at Felicity, "Please don't hate me." she said quietly.
"Sara, I don't hate you, it was just a really messed up situation and my stupid best friend made some really bad choices." Tommy looked away for a second, "I could really use a drink!"
"I think all we have is punch." Felicity said, gesturing to where the refreshment table was still set up. She leaned over and took Sara's hand, "Thank you for telling us, I know that must have been very difficult to talk about."
Sara nodded then brightened, "But in better news I just got accepted into nursing school! I'm going to be working on getting my RN degree."
"That's awesome!" Felicity, congratulated her,
"I knew you could do it!" Tommy praised.
"So, what are your plans?" Sara asked Felicity.
"Plans?"
"Like with school, giving birth, all that fun stuff."
"Oh, so right now the plan is for me to come back here for Thanksgiving. I tried to talk my way out of it because my mom and I have never really done anything for Thanksgiving since she would always work because, hello holiday pay! And people tip really well on Thanksgiving and Christmas! So anyway, Mom would usually bring home leftovers from one of the Thanksgiving spreads at one of the restaurants. But Moira and Thea said that they really wanted me here, and I can get in a checkup at the doctor's office." Felicity paused realizing that she had given way too much information.
"And" Sara prompted.
"Right. So, after I finish my finals, I'm on a plane here for a check-up and spending a couple of days, then on to Vegas to spend Hanukkah with my mom, and then back here to spend Christmas and New Years with the Queens."
"And me!" Tommy interjected.
"And Tommy," Felicity smiled, "Then Mom's flying in and hopefully Olivia will make a quick and easy entrance into the world."
"Amen to that." Sara said.
"As for school I've arranged to be able to start the classes online either from here or my dorm, and once she's old enough I'll have her in one of the daycares on campus."
"Sounds like a good plan," Sara complemented. "Are you planning on delivering vaginally and breastfeeding?"
Tommy covered his ears, "Hello! Guy in the room! I don't want or need to know these things! Why are you girls always telling me things I don't need to know!"
Sara leaned over and smacked him on his arm. "One of these days you're going to find Mrs. Merlyn and then you'll be able to impress her with all of your knowledge."
"To further traumatize Tommy, I'm hoping I can deliver vaginally, and I want to try to breastfeed. It's much cheaper that route than buying formula, and if the baby won't latch I can always pump and bottle feed using the breast milk. In the online support group that I'm a part of I've heard great tips, so fingers crossed."
"Can we please talk about something other than childbirth?" Tommy pleaded.
"Felicity, has anybody ever told you about the time Tommy rented out a stadium to host a strip kickball game with models?" Sara volunteered, with a twinkle in her eye as Tommy groaned. The three talked until it was well past midnight and by the time they left Felicity felt like she had made a new friend in Sara.
