The villagers cheered and thanked the Cy-rangers, the Rescue Rangers and the Pet Army for saving their lives and their beloved Forest Village again.
"Thank you so much, all of you," Mayor Woolly said.
"You're very welcome," the two Cy-Rangers and the Rescue Rangers said together.
The Pet Army said 'You're very welcome' to the mayor in their own barking or meowing language.
"Now that those villains are gone," he said, "can you tell us your secrets about how you succeeded in scaring them away?"
"Yeah, how did you guys do it?" Dale asked.
"You helped us do it too, stupid," Chip said.
"Did I? How?"
"Well, you know those rocks that rained from the clouds? Well, here's how they got rained." Cy-Had got out a remote and pressed the yellow button on it.
Then something rained down from the sky. The villagers got a little nervous, but they stayed after Cy-Toad told them to and she assured them that nothing bad was going to happened from this thing.
"Behold the Tornado!" Cy-Had cried. Once it was down enough, she made it hover just outside the village and then she pressed a green button on the remote. Then the vehicle opened its hatches and out came more raining rocks.
"And while that distracted Brenda and her Earth Army," Cy-Toad said, "our Rescue Ranger friends here and I managed to get their gardening tools from their tool sheds and hide them before unlocking the chains of our friends and then giving the tools to them so they were prepared to fight and now you know the rest and that's how we scared them away."
Once again, Mayor Woolly and her villagers applauded them for their bravery.
"Thank you," Cy-Toad said. "Thank you. But there's something important we must tell you immediately." She waited until the villagers stopped applauding and waited to let her speak. "Thank you. Now, I know that that Forest Protector has saved your lives and your village many times before from Brenda and her Earth Army and that we saved you on the two last attempts, but our friends out there are getting better every time. You heard what Brenda said. She and her army will be back and we won't stand a chance next time. I know that we have been successful before, but I don't like the sound of what she said."
"Why would you?" Dale asked. "She's evil. Why should we like anything she says or –"
"Shut up, Dale, and let her finish," Chip snapped.
"As I was saying," Cy-Toad continued, "I'd loved to celebrate with you guys again, but right now we must remain alert and focus on the defences of your village. Do you understand?"
The villagers nodded.
"Okay, then. Here is we must do. Continue the way you were doing the defences. This time, neither I nor my Pet Army will leave this village, I promise you that."
"And I won't leave," Cy-Had said, "and neither will these Rescue Rangers."
All the Rescue Rangers nodded to that.
The villagers cheered.
"Okay, okay," Mayor Woolly said. "You heard our heroes. Let's get to work."
And soon everyone got to work.
While the villagers were maintaining their defences, the Cy-Rangers, the Rescue Rangers and the Pet Army gathered around Gadget as she showed her blueprints of more defences if they needed them.
"These are the best ideas I can think of," Gadget said.
"And they're good ideas," Cy-Had said.
Everyone agreed.
"You've still got it, Gadget, love," Monty said.
Zipper nodded his head.
"Yeah, you've still got it," Dale said. "Still got what?"
"Her brains and her mechanic talents," Dale," Chip said. "Just like how you've still got your stupidity and goofing off."
"Oh, yeah?" Dale snapped.
"Yeah!" Chip snapped.
Then they started to argue in their highest squeaky voices that no one could understand. Then they stopped when Cy-Had got between them.
"Boys, we have enough problems here in this village as it is," she said very firmly. "Now, do you want to make things better or worse?"
The chipmunks stopped arguing. "We want to make things better," they all said together.
"Good," Cy-Had said.
"How long will it take to build these, Gadget?" Cy-Toad asked.
"If all goes well and if I can get all the help I can, everything should be built three hours max," Gadget said. "Oh, and your feedback is always welcome."
"We will give you honest feedback, Gadget," Cy-Toad said. "We promise. Now, that's sorted out, let's get back to work. Pluto, Fifi, Figaro, follow me."
"Aren't you guys going to help us build the defences, Cy-Toad?" Cy-Had asked. "Or help me repair the Speedy Cloud? The sooner these things get sorted out, the better of a chance we'll have against Brenda and her Earth Army."
"Don't you have you own team to help you?" Cy-Toad asked. "My team and I have enough on our own plates looking after the villagers and their defences as it is. It's not all about you and your inventions and gadgets, Cy-Had."
Cy-Had just gave her a hard stare.
Cy-Toad sighed. "Fine. Give me a call if you really need my help, but if you do, it had better be very, very, very, very, very, very, very –"
"Have you finished?" Cy-Had asked.
"– very, very, very, very, very –"
"Okay, I get your point! Stop!"
"– very, very, very, very urgent."
"Fine," Cy-Had angrily said. "Come on, guys. Let's make a start on Gadget's inventions."
As each team followed their own leaders, the Rescue Rangers and the Pet Army were getting the impression that these two Cy-Rangers didn't like each other very much.
"Do you ever wonder why they don't like each other?" Dale asked.
"Come on, Dale," Chip said. "We don't have time to wonder about stuff like that. The sooner Gadget's inventions get built and the Speedy Cloud gets fixed, the better everything will be for everyone."
Dale was about to open his mouth again, but then he stopped to think before he said anything. He tried to think of something to say – smart things to say, not stupid things to say – but he couldn't and he decided to help the other Rescue Rangers to build Gadget's inventions and help to fix the Speedy Cloud. Besides, he was very happy that the Rescue Rangers were together again.
After checking that the village's defences were well prepped and the villagers volunteering to defend their village was still okay and the rest of the villagers were okay, including Dinah who was still bandaged up but still making a good recovery, the Pet Army approached Cy-Toad and barked or meowed their apologies to her for failing to protect the village from Brenda and her Earth Army in her absence.
"It's all right, guys," Cy-Toad said, stroking them. "I'm just very proud of what you all managed to achieve. Really. If you didn't do what you did, this village and our villager friends wouldn't even still be here at all. So don't feel bad about what you did. Feel proud of yourselves."
The pets did feel better. They licked Cy-Toad.
"Okay, guys. Now, that we're all in a better mood, how about we get back to work?"
The pets agreed and they did.
