Hello! I'm Angel Cake and welcome! This was the first-ever fanfiction I began writing in 2019. It focuses on the ROMY ship in the X-men universe. I always thought it was a shame that they did not include Gambit and Rogue together in the movie verse so I wrote my own semi-rendition fused with x-men Evo and comics 616. so buckle up ladies and gents and I hope you enjoy it! -AngelCake (p.s I speak a little french but not advanced in any way so I apologize for any mistranslations)

It was a warm afternoon in Bayville, New York at the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. Marie or better known as Rouge was sitting on a white windowsill that looked out onto the yard below. Mutant children had been running around laughing and playing their games as Rogue watched wistfully. She felt alone, isolated, and yearning to be just like them, because even though she was surrounded by like-minded mutants she still felt as if she was different, separated by a sheet of invisible glass that encased her. Always watching but never being able to touch. It was always like that, everything around her could change, heck the world could end but she would always see herself as the same exact person. The untouchable Rogue.
It's just mah curse, it's just who I am. Rogue thought to herself.
She carefully picked herself up and descended down the stairs that lead to the kitchen. Opening up the fridge and pulling out a carton of orange juice and some jam. She then proceeded to grab a cup and pour the orange juice into it while popping a slice of bread into the toaster. While doing so,she didn't notice the 5'3 brown-haired man walk into the kitchen but immediately recognized the familiar smell of cigarettes. Rogue quickly turned around as her eyes widened at the sight,
"Logan!" she shouted, "You're back!" swiftly running up to give him a big bear hug.
To the average person, it would look insane to see the normally quiet and reserved Rogue smiling let alone hugging someone! But what they wouldn't know is the years of history the two had which had eventually evolved into a father-daughter relationship. They were very close and one of Logan's only soft spots was for the green-eyed and strong-willed 19-year-old.
"Hey kid," Logan said, throwing in one of his rare smiles. "
"You're back!" Rogue said grinning ear to ear.
Logan had been gone from the mansion for five months on what he called a "Special mission". Her happiness quickly morphed into annoyance though.
"Ah cannot believe you didn't even trah and contact us once! Do you know how worried we were?" Rogue half-shouted at him.
Logan looked a little bit guilty as his eyes averted to a very interesting wall and away from the fuming teenager.
"Sorry stripes, I was told I couldn't contact anyone or else it would jeopardize the mission. I had no choice but to keep quiet."
Not wanting to be mad at him since he had just come back, Rogue quickly let her grin break through again, "Fine but if you everah do that again I won't talk to you for a whole year!".
"Ok, stripes point taken" Logan responded.
"Look I have to go and talk to Chuck and update him on what happened he's not gonna be happy, but I'll talk to you later." He said while grabbing his black duffle bag and walking away.
Rogue smiled to herself this time and picked up her snack then walked outside to the gardens and found a spot where there were no mischievous mutant children running around. Pulling out her phone and popping her earbuds in, she closed her eyes and felt the warm soft music slowly lull her senses and forget everything.
"OH my gosh! Like Rogue what are you doing out here alone!"
Rogue's eyes immediately fluttered open to see the 18-year-old valley girl Katherine Pryde or better known as Kitty. Rogue darted up to see that it was already dark outside and she had some fallen asleep on the bench.
"What time is it Kitty?" Rogue said, looking extremely alarmed.
"It's like already 9'o'clock! You totally missed dinner and Logan has been looking EVERYWHERE for you! Even that jerk Bobby has been looking for you!".
Rogue slightly winced at the mention of his name, Bobby and Rogue had dated for a short period of time, but within that period he had cheated on Rogue a total of two times. Of course not including when he had kissed Kitty while she was distracted and after she'd immediately slapped then stated that he was already dating Rogue. He had reasoned that he'd already cheated on her twice so what was one more time? In which Kitty was outraged and quickly told Rogue, they were broken up by the next day.
"Also on that note, I still cannot BELIEVE you haven't like told Logan about that two-faced snake of a mutant Bobby!" Kitty exclaimed!
"Yeah yeah I know but Logan just got back today! Plus even though I don't like the guy, Logan might kill him, and ah don't want him to go to jail because of Bobby '' Rogue responded standing up and collecting her items while making her way back to the mansion.
Or you just don't want her to know that you're still hurt by his words, by what he said-
She quickly tuned out the voice in her head, focusing back on Kitty.
"That boy definitely deserves to be killed though! After what he did! Cheating on you not once but TWICE and with people outside of or school who didn't even know he was a mutant! I mean, of course, nothing against him being like a mutant but he didn't even tell them that he had a girlfriend already! Like what was he even thinking! You're wayyy too good for him Rogue and you are definitely gonna find a guy like TEN TIMES better than that popsicle stick." Kitty said, attempting to comfort her friend.
"Thanks, sugar that's sweet of you to say" Rogue responded with a small smile.
"Stripes, office now!" Rogue and Kitty looked up to see a furious Logan.
"Uh oh, sorry Rogue but I don't think I'll be able to help you with this one," Kitty said.
"It's ok Kitty, It's mah fault ah fell asleep in the garden anyways" Rogue responded while turning to Logan and following him upstairs to Professor Xavier's office.
Once they entered his office Rogue quickly figured out that Logan's source of anger wasn't because of Rogue, it was because of the professor.
"Hello Rogue," the Professor said, " I know that it's very late but I am assigning you to a mission".
At once Rogue became serious as she tuned on what the professor had to say.
"You and Logan will be tasked to recruit a vitally important mutant by the name of Gambit. All of his known information is stored inside this file" he said, handing-off a manila envelope with a red stamp that read *Confidential*.
"Some important details though, Gambit is a very powerful mutant so be sure to not threaten him or his family in any way. He is also part of a large crime organization called the Thieves Guild which true to its name is a large family of thieves who partake in illegal activity. They're currently in a feud with a rival organization called the Assassins Guild, so you must be extremely cautious. Time is of the essence so you will leave tonight" The Professor said concluding the meeting.
Rogue walked out of the room and instantly turned to Logan, "Are yah sure you wanna do a mission? You just came back and I could probably go by mah-".
Logan cut her off with a growl, "It's fine, it'll be over my dead body that I leave you alone with that cajun." Turning towards the direction of his room.
Well, they have history ahm gussin. Rogue thought, entering her room and beginning to pack for the mission.
An hour later Rogue met up with Logan in the garage.
"You ready kid?" He asked.
"Of course ah am" Rogue responded following Logan and getting onto her own motorcycle.
"Let's go then," He said and they drove off into the distance.
Somewhere far away though, a red-eyed mutant awoke, feeling as if a disturbance had occurred and that there was a storm brewing.
