Maya then, while still holding her phone, took her bottle of DXM out of her backpack. Yfke then started the call, and Maya picked it up.
"Heeeeey, Maya!", Yfke said, sounding and looking already a bit high.
"Hey, Yfke!", Maya replied. "So... shall we begin?"
"Hell yeah!"
Maya then positioned her phone on the back of the table, sat down on her chair, and held the bottle in her hand.
"Wait, before you start chugging, hold on!", Yfke said before slowly picking up a blunt and a lighter.
"Going with the good ol' J, huh?", Maya asked as she opened up her bottle of DXM and sniffing it. Predictably, it smelled like orange.
"Yeeeeeah, it's my fave!", Yfke replied. "Well... cheers!"
"Cheers!"
Maya then took a sip off her bottle while Yfke lighted up her blunt and began smoking it. Maya's syrup tasted like a regular artificial orange flavor, nothing too sweet nor too sour. She managed to gulp the entire bottle down in seconds.
"How's it taste like?", Yfke asked.
"It just tastes like orange.", Maya replied. "Not bad at all! Now, we wait!"
Maya and Yfke then began discussing random things. Around an hour later, however, Maya began feeling different. She felt a wave of warmth all over her body, and her body also felt very heavy. She felt detached from her surroundings and from her body, almost like she's watching the world from a computer screen. She began hearing everything a lot clearer, from the chirping sound of the crickets outside to the background noises of Yfke's side of the call.
"Woah, Yfke...", Maya said. "I'm starting to feel it..."
"You are?", Yfke replied. "Turn the lights off, you might see something really funky!"
Maya then picked up her phone and began walking towards the light switch. It felt extremely weird to walk, like she was a robot with very heavy metal legs.
"Yo, you're already doing the robowalk!", Yfke said while giggling.
"Yeah, I certainly feel like a robot right now!", Maya replied, also giggling.
Maya then reached the light switch and turned off the lights. She looked around. It looked like there was a thin cloud surrounding her room, and some green lights were popping in and out of the gaps of the cloud. She kept looking around for a while, absolutely mesmerized by what she was seeing.
"Ayo, what are you seeing?", Yfke asked, her voice seeming like it was surrounding Maya.
"There's a cloud all over the room, Yfke...", Maya replied, somewhat struggling to form her sentences. "And... YOU are the cloud, man..."
"Am I the cloud?", Yfke asked.
"Yeeeeah, you are the cloud..."
Maya then turned the light back on, the sudden influx of light feeling like a flashbang grenade going off on her. After her eyes became accustomed to the light, she stopped seeing any clouds. She then laid down on her bed and held her phone upwards, facing Yfke directly.
"So, how are you feeling?", Yfke asked after taking another drag off her joint.
"I am... TRIPPING!", Maya replied, now struggling a lot more to speak.
"What are you seeing above you?", Yfke asked.
"You... look like you're... floating above me...", Maya replied. "Like you're in a helicopter... or a spaceship... something like that..."
"That's craaaaaazy...", Yfke said before hitting her joint again. "Try putting on your headphones and listening to some music."
"But don't you need... turn off... call, for... music?", Maya asked.
"Nah, you can do both just fine!", Yfke replied. "Trust me, it's super useful when annoying people call you."
Maya then clumsily walked up to her backpack and got her headphones. She plugged them in and wore them. Immediately, the background noises on Yfke's side surrounded her, and they seemed to have depth. Maya opened up her Spotify and began browsing for music to listen to. She thought for a while, and, feeling like tripping out really hard, she settled for Deftones.
"Hey, I'll listen to Deftones.", Maya told Yfke.
"Deftones?", Yfke asked. "I think I've listened to them before... yeah, they're really trippy. Go ahead and tell me what you feel!"
Maya then pressed play and put her phone on her bed, next to her. All instruments felt like they had depth, and she felt like the band members were surrounding her, one instrument being played at a different place in her mind. She also felt like her mind was traveling the universe, going to unexplored places outside of what we can observe. Her body felt a tingly sensation, like she was experiencing actual love and nostalgia at the same time. She had a huge smile on her face and was pretty much paralyzed, enjoying every single millisecond of the music. She almost could not hear Yfke's side of the call at all due to how focused she was on the music. Every time another track came up, it was like Maya was traveling to another part of the universe, and was experiencing all sorts of different beautiful sensations. She kept going on like this for the whole album, and snapped out of it when it was over, suddenly feeling a non-unpleasant form of nostalgia for what she had just experienced. She unplugged her headphones and picked up her phone, going back to her call with Yfke. First thing she saw was Yfke with a bong in her hand, looking absolutely smashed. She noticed Maya.
"Oh, heyyyyyy...", Yfke said. "Done listening to music...?"
"Yeah...", Maya replied.
"What'd you experience...?", Yfke asked.
"The music...", Maya replied. "It took me to... other parts... of the universe... like I was in a spaceship... visiting beautiful parts... of the universe..."
"Sick! Did you feel, like, nostalgic, by any chance?"
"Hell yeah! I still feel it..."
"That's... cool!"
The two then talked about random, often deep stuff for a couple more minutes, before Yfke began feeling sleepy.
"Hey, Maya... I think I needa go to sleep...", Yfke said.
"Oh, alrighty!", Maya replied. "Have a good night!"
"Nighty!"
Yfke then hung up the call, leaving Maya by herself. She turned off her room's lights, seeing clouds again, and began listening to music again. She went through all of her playlists, front to back, tripping out while enjoying the music. After that, she looked at the time, and realized that it was already past 3 AM. Even with that, she still did not feel like going to sleep at all. She thought of drinking some moonshine to fall asleep, but instantly dropped the idea after remembering about the dangers of mixing substances, just taking a small drink after starting to feel herself shaking again.
She then stayed up all night, scrolling through social media, playing games, and watching videos. By sunrise, although she was not high anymore, she still felt very pleasant sensations, and really enjoyed seeing the sunlight slowly invade her room and illuminate it. In the morning, suddenly, Epke messaged Maya asking her about her day. She told him about going to the beach, but did not say a word about tripping on DXM, feeling like he'd be upset that she did it with Yfke and not him. She also sent him some pictures of Portimão that she snapped while on her walk with Mymy, all of which he found beautiful.
Suddenly, someone knocks on Maya's door. She quickly rushes over.
"Yes?", Maya asks.
"It's me!", Coco replies. "Do you want to go have breakfast with us?"
"Sure thing, hold on!", Maya replied.
To be continued...
