Max Steel: Rebels - Heroics Short
It was late at night on the planet of Lothal, a world in the Outer Rim Territories and under the control of the Galactic Empire. When the world first joined the empire, the entire planet was in economic disrepair and was promised security and prosperity under the Empire's control. Since then, the Lothalites had yet to see some of that promised prosperity from the Empire taking control of the planet's industries. However, the growing discontent of the people would emerge rather interestingly, not in the form of mere rebels or insurgents.
Looking down at the Imperial Garrison Base from one of the rooftops was what appeared to be a man wearing a blue, white, and black armored suit. On the suit's chest was a glowing 'M' with a similar 'M' shaped visor on the helmet. The man was looking down at the base, taking note of the number of Stormtroopers patrolling the area. Along with the Stormtroopers were some AT-DPs, Speeder Bikes, TIE Fighters, and some Troop Transporters.
"I almost feel bad for them," sighed the man, knowing that these bucket heads didn't really stand much of a chance against him and his partner.
"I know, but then again, they are oppressive imperialists, so that takes most of the sting out of making their nights a living nightmare," replied a voice through the man's helmet, the 'M' on his chest flashing as the individual spoke.
"Ghost to Max Steel, we've reached our rendevous points, are you in position?" said a new voice through the man's comm. link. A woman's voice by the sound of it.
"Max Steel here, just givingurb the bucket heads a few more seconds of peace before we ruin their night," replied the man, now identified as 'Max Steel' as his partner, a small drone that disconnected from his suit's chest in a flash of blue energy. The drone had short arms, no fingers or thumbs, and a single glowing blue eye.
"Also, tell Specter-5 to take it easy with our ship, we just got it and would rather not have the paint job ruined," commented the drone as he joined the conversation.
"Like you're one to talk, Steel," said another woman's voice with a scoff, "I seem to recall what happened when you tried piloting the Ghost."
"Excuse me for not having opposable thumbs or fingers, missy!" retorted the drone, now identified as Steel, indignantly.
"Cut the chatter Specter-5, same goes for you, Steel," interjected the first woman, her tone sounding tired, "You and Max get in, create a distraction, and Specter-5 will come in for extraction."
"Hope the others get what we need," said Max as he began doing some stretches, "You ready, Steel?"
"You have to ask?" Inquired the robotic drone, as it hovered in front of Max Steel. The young man crossed his arms as he got ready.
"Go Turbo: Strength!" Shouted Max as he uncrossed his arms at the same moment Steel's arms locked into position, forming an 'M' shape. The robotic drone then slammed into Max's chest. His entire body lit up with a bright cyan blue, the suit Max wore breaking apart into hundreds of small hexagons as energy flared around him. A moment later, the pieces began to reform around Max, creating a larger suit. This new suit was about 3 times larger than the Base Suit Max wore and was more robust and beefy.
"Let's make some noise, Steel!" shouted Max as his boots began glowing with blue energy. He then leaped off the roof of the building he was on and towards the Imperial Garrison Base, the energy he was generating gave Max an extra bit of power in his jump. As he was in the air, Max Steel brought his hands up and clenched them into fists as energy began forming around them. As he crashed back down to the ground, the hero slammed both his fists down, causing a small shockwave of blue T.U.R.B.O. energy to erupt, blasting a patrol of Stormtroopers off their feet.
As soon as Max Steel made his entrance, alarms began blaring into the night sky, "Well, we have their attention," noted Max humorously as he saw more Stormtroopers begin to scramble to defensive positions with some AT-DPs supporting them.
"You gotta admire their bravery," commented Steel as Max charged forward as the Stormtroopers opened fire on them. '
However, the blaster bolts from the Stormtroopers' weapons barely slowed Max Steel as he closed in on a few imperial soldiers. Pulling his fist back, more T.U.R.B.O. Energy engulfed Max's fist as he landed an uppercut on one of the Stormtroopers, sending him flying back. The hero kept throwing punches at the troopers of the Empire, each one sent flying. It was then an explosion near Max Steel drew his attention to the AT-DPs that had started firing at them.
"You know what I love most about Imperial Walkers?" Inquired Max, grinning behind his helmet.
"The overly exposed and narrow legs," stated the Ultralink, knowing exactly what Max had in mind. The drone disconnected from Max's chest in a blue flash of energy, also taking Max out of Strength Mode and back into the Base Steel Suit. Locking his digits into the duo's iconic 'M', Max grabbed Steel's arm and charged some energy into him.
"Turborang!" shouted Max as he hurled the Ultralink like a boomerang, the alien robot spinning fast enough to essentially become a blade of T.U.R.B.O. Energy.
While Steel was not a fan of this move, he couldn't deny it was effective at times, especially when dealing with multiple targets. Sure enough, this was the perfect scenario as Steel cut through the thin and, honestly, very weak legs of the Imperial Walkers. A second later, Steel had sliced through the legs of at least four AT-DPs. The walkers all collapsed, one after the other as Steel flew back to Max.
With more of the Empire's assets taken care of, more Stormtroopers would be sent to fight them.
"We have enough attention yet?' Asked Steel in a dizzy tone, his single eye was replaced by a spiral swirl, his way of displaying dizziness.
"Almost," replied Max as he noted more Stormtroopers approaching, "but let's try to wrap this up soon."
Crossing his arms in his chest, Max got ready to change Modes "Go Turbo: Speed!" In a bright flash, Turbo Strength Mode's bulky frame lit up bright before it broke apart into hundreds of small hexagons. A moment later, the pieces began rejoining into a smaller form, this one far sleeker and streamlined with streaks of green here and there.
Without wasting a moment, Max Steel shot off like a rocket, faster than anyone in the galaxy could even match. The Stormtroopers tried to shoot the hero, but with his speed, their already poor aim was made even worse. The young hero sped around the entire compound, either stealing the Stormtroopers blasters, punching them, or otherwise running into them, Max Steel was making a serious commotion.
"Ghost to Max Steel, objective secured, get ready for extraction," said the woman from earlier, letting Max know his and Steel's diversion was a success.
"Copy that Ghost," acknowledged Max Steel as he looked up to the sky and saw his ship flying down, "Specter-5, I trust that's you behind the controls?"
"Boarding ramp is opening, just need you to get up here so we can leave," replied Specter-5.
"Just when things we getting fun," sighed Steel with a little disappointment.
"Sorry guys looks like we gotta call it a night," said Max, addressing the Stormtroopers who were still conscious, "It's been fun."
"No, it wasn't!" Groaned one Stormtrooper, to which Max just chuckled as he crossed his arms once more.
"Go Turbo: Flight!" The hero shouted as Steel slammed into his chest. Body lighting up once more, pieces of the suit breaking apart before reforming into the aforementioned Turbo Mode. This Mode was obviously designed for flight, having four wings with jets along the wing blade, a central thruster on his back, with maneuvering thrusters on his arms and legs.
Once the mode had fully formed, Max Steel took off into the air and began heading toward his ship. The ship in question was a rather large one, specifically a C-ROC Gozanti-class light cruiser. It had five engines and a blue, white, and black paint job. The larger ship's engines were producing a bright blue glow as it passed over the Imperial Garrison Base. As Specter-5 said, the boarding ramp was open and Max flew right on in. Once inside, the ramp closed and the ship's engines roared as it sped off from the area, a VCX-100 light freighter following closely behind it.
It went without saying that having his very own spaceship was a personal childhood wish Max always had, but what he didn't expect was the circumstances under which he would get the ship. Inside the cargo ship, Steel disconnected from Max's chest, the usual bright flash of cyan blue light followed and Max was back in the base Steel Suit, however, the main difference between now and earlier was the lack of a helmet. Underneath the mask was a young adult, looking to be in his late teens, he had brown hair, a caucasian skin tone, and bright blue eyes that almost seemed to glow. Under the mask was Maxwell McGrath, a human-Takionian hybrid, stuck in a galaxy far, far away, fighting in a rebellion to free the galaxy he and Steel are in from an oppressive empire.
Inside the ship's cargo bay was Max's Turbo Car and Turbo Cycle, the car had been given an upgrade from Berto. Now, it has a silver and black paint job, a sleek design, lower to the ground, chunky tires with additional headlights on the front tires, a central cockpit with seating for two, and lastly Max Steel's Logo on the front grill of the vehicle, just about the grapple launcher.
"All things considered, I think that went well," commented Steel as he and Max went around the Turbo Car and headed for the elevator in the middle of the ship.
"Let's hope the supplies we managed to get can do some real good," added Max as the duo entered the elevator.
Using the elevator, Max and Steel went to the upper deck of the ship where the cockpit was located. When it came to size, Max's ship was much larger than the partner ship he and Steel worked with to help fight the Empire. However, the size also meant a lot more walking around. As they were making their way down the length of the ship, Steel split off towards a common area where a couch, TV, and some other furniture were located.
"You go on ahead, I'm gonna catch up on some Law & Order: SVU," said Steel as he flew over to the couch and settled himself in the center, grabbing the remote as he switched on the TV.
"Hera's gonna wanna hear from you too," pointed out Max as he stopped just outside the cockpit.
"Eh, I'll tell her later, not much to report on our end other than the usual cause mayhem and be a huge distraction," counted the Ultralink.
"True," shrugged the young man as he entered the cockpit.
Inside the cockpit, there was a young woman, who looked to be about 17 herself, with an olive skin tone. Her short hair was dyed a light shade of blue which faded into a teal at the ends. She also wore pieces of armor on her shoulders and chest, and a helmet was placed near her feet. At the moment, she was piloting Max's ship away from the Imperial Base.
"Nice flying, Sabine," commented Max as he took his seat in the co-pilot's chair.
"Was there ever any doubt?" replied the young woman as she glanced over at Max, , her brown eyes meeting Max's blue ones.
"Yes, there was!" Shouted Steel from the common area, causing Max to snort in amusement while Sabine rolled her eyes.
"Anyway," said the hero, coughing into his hand as Sabine guided the ship to their rendevous point with the Ghost so both crews could debrief each other on what they managed to get from the base they just raided, "I assume we got what we were coming for?"
"Zeb, Ezra, and Kanan retrieved the package during your distraction," replied Sabine as she checked a view instruments on the ship's dashboard, she then gave Max a knowing look from the corner of her eye, "Would have been more fun if I had been there."
"We're rebels, Sabine," scoffed Max with amusement as he leaned back in his chair, "We aren't that cruel."
"Still, wish I had been there," replied the woman as she placed the ship into autopilot and turned her chair to face Max, a smile on her face.
"I'm sure our next op will have us blow something up," promised the young hero as he sat up and turned his chair to also face Sabine fully.
"I'm going to hold you to that," Sabine stated as she leaned a little closer to Max, the hero doing the same.
Both teens leaned in close and gave one another a loving kiss. Being in a Rebellion, they had to enjoy the moments they had together when they could, because they never knew when they were gonna be called into another mission. Though if Max was being honest, he never expected himself or Steel to be brought into such a massive conflict. Especially when it started with a call to N-TEK regarding Miles Dread utilizing pieces of Makino's ship and portal technology.
