Chapter 1
"Yes, don't worry. I will be there in three days.", said Balalaika, before ending the call. She sat on the chair of her office and let out a quiet sigh. There was a new change of plans she needed to prepare for. She had to go to Moscow in three days to take care of some business and would be gone for a few days. Originally, her business trip was planned for the end of the month, where she would bring an important package, she needed to bring to her boss herself. However, the package would arrive two days before her original trip, by the Lagoon Company. Now, she needed to rearrange everything. A sudden knock on the door, interrupted her thoughts.
"Come in."
The door opened and a little girl entered the room joyfully. She was about 7 years old, and she was wearing a light blue dress, with long blonde hair just like Balalaika's. With a smile on her face, she approached Balalaika's office.
"Mila, my dear, come here. There's something I need to tell you."
"Look what I found, mama.", Mila told Balalaika, as she showed her a picture she was holding. It was a picture of Mila and her mother, Balalaika. It looked like Mila was a few days old and she was being held by Balalaika, who was wearing a military uniform. Balalaika had her daughter during her service in Afghanistan and was the most difficult time of her life. It was rough for the both of them. When Mila was a year old, their military camp was bombed and as a result she lost her left leg, she had to learn to walk again with a prosthetic, which was far from easy. Pictures from those times always gave Balalaika a bittersweet feeling.
"Aww, look at you! I can't believe how tiny you used to be.", she told her daughter, as a smile appeared on her face, "Listen here, my dear, I have a business trip that I need to go to, so this afternoon you will go to live with your grandparents for a few days."
Mila's joyfulness suddenly disappeared after that sentence. "Again?", she whined, "I hate it when you leave."
"Aw, sweetie.", said Balalaika as she stroked her daughter's head, "I know. But I'll be back in a few days. It won't be that long, I promise."
Despite Balalaika's attempt, Mila was still pretty upset that her mom was leaving. All of a sudden, a small smile appeared on Balalaika's face, as an idea crossed her mind.
"How about, when I return, I take a day off and do something together?"
Mila's joyful attitude returned after hearing this.
"I would love that.", she said with a smile on her face.
"Now, let's go prepare your bags.", said Balalaika with a soft smile on her face, while gently patting her daughter's back, "You're going to leave with Boris this afternoon."
Chapter 2
It was five thirty in the afternoon. Balalaika and Mila were exiting hotel Moscow and heading towards a car, where Boris was waiting for them. Balalaika had already taken care of her daughter's bags, by having some of her men carry them to the car. She suddenly stopped and kneeled down to her daughter's level.
"Alright dear. Now Boris is going to take you to your grandparent's place. I want you to be a good girl and behave, ok?", she said while patting the girl's head.
"Yes, mama.", the girl said with a smile on her face.
"And remember, your grandparents are quite old. They cannot cleanup after you all the time, so help them with the chores as much as you can, ok?"
"Yes, mama."
"Alright.", Balalaika sighed, "You have to get going now."
"Goodbye, mama.", Mila said as she hugged her mom.
"Goodbye, my dear.", Balalaika responded and kissed her head.
The little girl then run up to the car and got in. Boris then started the car and drove off. An unforgettable adventure was waiting for Mila, and she couldn't have seen it coming.
Back in the Lagoon Company Headquarters, things were surprisingly calm. Dutch was talking on the phone with a potential client, Benny was downloading some files and Revy and Rock were enjoying some pizza in the common space.
"And why do we have to deliver this to fry face? Why wont he do it?", Revy complained.
"He did business with Balalaika, and he screwed up. Most people wouldn't want to face her after that.", Rock tried to explain.
"What an asshole.", she sighed, "And when are we supposed to drop the bag off?"
"Well, Dutch mentioned that Balalaika has to leave for a business trip in three days. So, either tomorrow or in two days"
As Rock finished his sentence, Dutch entered the room.
"We have another job.", he said.
"Goddamn it.", Revy whispered under her breath, "What is it this time?"
"We need to transport some kid."
Chapter 3
Mila and Boris had arrived to her grandparents's house. It was small and had a garden, where Mila loved to play in. It was one of the only houses that were right outside Roanapur. The two got to the door and Boris kneeled down to talk to the little girl.
"Alright
