Chapter 5: Tenious arrangements

It was still in full red alert back on Earth as Chi-Chi Krillin, and Tien, were scrambled with whatever training units and RRF soldiers they had as well as putting out requests for aid from the red ribbon army and fellow hive cities. This was unprecedented and if a full on invasion was to occur they were going to need every single weapon aimed in a direction.

With the exception of two hive cities and Athos which was still recovering from its devastation. Fortunately with the Red Ribbon leading the Olympus Hive city they had enough sway to keep the others in line.

Politics were taking the front line as Chi-Chi with the RRF had been the biggest stick to keep the splintering human factions in line. Her killing of multiple saiyans and low casualty numbers showed the world that there was a spark of hope and kept the necessary resources flowing into Capsule Corp. It was why it had its higher standards of living, remained secretive and allowed to be autonomous as those above ground took the assaults of saiyans.

But with Chi-Chi's near complete defeat by an enemy that was clearly stronger than anything before it brought into question why they were suffering if they couldn't be protected.

'Because when faced with complete annihilation its best to bicker and fight amongst ourselves' Chi-Chi thought disgustedly as she wore a complete insulated rebreather gas mask covering with an air purifier on her back connected with several black tubes from her front and over her shoulders.

Standing just off to the side of Krillin and Tien and the Lt. Colonel Schwartz as several regiments of Red Ribbon hunter killer tanks armed with massive plasma cannons were aimed squarely at the spot directed for the ship to land per the hailing messages.

There were even massive colossus cannons that were 38 inch naval style guns loaded with thermobaric warheads aimed this way, this was every single gun that could have a chance at killing a saiyan was pointed this direction along with a surprise from Doctor Briefs who had moved several asteroids the size of semi trucks into orbit to be thrown down as a just in case.

They had been scouting satellite probes looking to find rare resources in their solar system and bring them to earth but could be used as de facto weapons in a pinch with devastating effects.

So they were all waiting, "What do you think the odds of this are?" Krillin asked, standing next to Chi-Chi as they watched the small burning orb in the sky make its way downwards towards them.

Chi-Chi just tapped her mechanical arm against her flesh. "Slim to none that we live through this."

The others didn't say that she was probably right. They could attempt to nuke it from orbit but the radiation could poison the atmosphere further leaving the world with mere months to sustain life instead of the few decades it had until given time to heal once more.

So here they all stood out here with Schwartz addressing the three fighters they had left, "You three know what to do if everything kicks off, by time and start the evacuation if this kicks off. Grab what members of the RRF with you and leave anyone that is not going to survive behind. That is a direct order understood by all." This included him, he wasn't in a position to survive this hellscape should anything pop off but he also had to show leadership, cowering in the bunkers of Capsule Corp were only going to earn further ire and condemnation from his men without taking any kind of risk himself. In addition to that he had to show that he was willing to be cooperative with other cities and their leaders, that they knew him, saw him, and could have some level of trust.

"If it means anything you have been an honorable man to serve with." Tien commented as he let his hands fall down to his side watching as the massive ship grew more and more, the fireball it created breaking through the atmosphere and beginning its slow descent.

"All of you as well, and to all of those who couldn't be here in our last moments… I pray they are waiting for us on the other side." The Lt Colonel put on his field cap and drew out his service pistol. It was a token gesture but he wasn't going to remain a frightened soldier.

Still the fireball grew and grew, lighting up the air as it made its slowed descent. Someone popped the obvious question to Chi-Chi. "What about-"

"He will stay with Mrs. Briefs and her family. No one else will know about my son. I left a recording for my baby boy to tell him how proud his mother is, and that he was always the light of my life since I had him." She didn't break her mask despite the pain of her voice to speak about her soon to be ending life. "I know that if humanity lives on he'll take care of it. He can be stronger than his weak mother. He will be a force that protects and avenges us all."

Only Krillin and Tien could attest to the child's incredible strength, but all except several knew that her son was a half-breed saiyan. It was his greatest power and biggest curse for he would never be seen in any favorable light otherwise. Still he was ten times stronger than any man, and given a few more years of growing he'd be easily stronger than her without training and do what she would fail to do today…

With a tremendous thud the large spacecraft finally made its touchdown. Several massive thrusters using huge impact arms took the brunt of the landing as it had slowed down enough to only have the force of a small bomb some several hundred yards away, Chi-Chi being the only one with hair let it be whipped backwards as the rest stood there resolute in the upcoming fight.

Several moments later a large rampway extended downwards towards the ground striking hard into the ground tearing up dirt and rock until a large door split and allowed the contents inside to exit.

But as everyone's finger was on a hair trigger they watched as a figure approached the ramp. It was female and not… a saiyan. Her skin was a light pale blue, cloven feet like that of a goat touched the ground with a slight bend backwards reverse jointed before resembling normal legs. Dressed in a pure white lower gown that fit snugly to her waist with light golden accent trim rings keeping it place. But swiping behind it was a blue tail only a foot or two in length bare of fur and with a tip-like edge attached to her backside. From there rising up a blood red top covered a large chest which was more humanoid and a delicate feminine face with darker blue shaded lips and faint glowing purple eyes, but even more pronounced than that were an ivory pair of horns from the side of her head, curled backwards with an ornately braided pure white hair.

Obviously she was not at all expected and that eerie silence followed as an unexpected and brand new alien race stood in front of them wasn't probably planned for.

But Chi-Chi wasn't going to stand back and be intimidated, even with her gas mask on she approached the strange blue skinned woman without fear or pause. Walking right up to her, with the horned woman being maybe an inch or two taller than her. The two had a stare down as Chi-Chi's brown stared into the light purple back at her.

"You are not afraid, but neither are you reckless. I can appreciate that.

"Our arrival is one that is up to you as your people's representative to decide. There are only a handful of races that were able to join us on our flight from our world. A world that was quickly beset upon by a group of saiyans who labeled us all as heretics and traitors to the oh so glorious saiyan empire…" She said her voice filled with sarcastic nobility. "I am the leader by simple default, I am a former countess as my world no longer exists. But my title was not without merit, but for my name you may call me Leocht." The pale blue hand reached out in the human gesture.

Chi-Chi didn't hesitate and grasped the firm hand although there was nowhere near the strength one would expect in this dignified leader. "A former princess of fire mountain, you can call me Chi-Chi." Each of them giving a firm handshake to the other.

The purple eyes seemed to brim almost amused. "I can tell by your introductions you are judging my strengths and merits. Not something I can disagree with but my strength is not in the physical as there is one aboard who possesses that strength that a world would need… but I fear that your people would take his appearance as a declaration of war." The ex-countess cast a glance past her towards the others in her party she had stepped in front of. "Explanations would be trivial, might you gather those you trust and join me inside to meet with the rest of those who would be suited for proper introductions and then begin proper negotiations." Withdrawing her hand she turned and bid with a glance to follow her.

Considering this wasn't an all out saiyan slaughter then she should be happy this was the current situation. She looked back at them. "Schwartz you'll probably want to hear this, and grab one of the Red Ribbon representatives and keep the rest on stand by."

The Lt. Colonel agreed and made a quick call as Chi-Chi walked up the smooth steps into the belly of the ship.

It was a few minutes later and Chi-Chi stood with the Lt. Colonel and Major Black of the Red Ribbon in front of a small gathering. One that was filled with several alien species, a Lamia style alien with humanoid features but reptilian body, some slug like creatures covered in all manner of electronic devices, but with Leocht were two very unwelcome guests that stood behind Leocht.

The blue skinned alien woman could already tell the animosity was spiking and held up a hand. "Do not let their presence concern you. They are just as much exiles and unwanted as I and your people are in the eyes of other saiyans." Drawing back her hand she gestured to one saiyan beside her, a graying older man. "This is Paragus, father of this other strapping saiyan Broly. Both of them were dumped on a planet to die by the planet's current ruling monarchy for possibly being a threat. Paragus lost part of his eye for standing up for his son, and Broly is a bit more reserved but a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. If you were to measure his power he is that of an elite warrior, far greater than any 3rd, second, or even first class saiyan."

Alarm bells immediately shot off in the three earth representatives with the knowledge privy to the few of them. Their world was invaded by mostly third class saiyans but apparently standing in front of them was a saiyan that would break apart almost any other saiyan, including the one who nearly shattered Chi-Chi in a single punch would be nothing but dirt before him.

Hostility or hostile actions were not going to be permitted in the least unless in an absolute bid for survival. Chi-Chi let her ability to sense his energy reach out and while both of them were indeed as strong as saiyans this one was clearly holding back as there was no roiling energy that they were known for. He was a giant, well over six and a half feet tall. Long black spiky hair that saiyans were known for, his chest and stomach were covered in scars with the traditional saiyan tail around his waist. "But you have nothing to fear from either of them unless you try to kill them."

Schwartz took a slight step forwards, "But what reason should we have to trust you? We know nothing of you, your kind, and our love of saiyans is clearly well documented considering you decided to keep them hidden from us or that you are even in control of those two whose race has tormented our planet for almost a decade."

"I second those concerns, not that based on your boasting you could wipe us off the planet with those two at your side so why all of this?" Major black said as he watched as Leocht adjusted herself in a large armchair between the two saiyans, more acting like her bodyguards.

"I could, but I'm not one for violence. I have my personal abilities that make me a threat even to one such as Broly but in any sort of physical fight I would most certainly lose. However, to answer the blunt part of your question this is merely a break for us. Our ship needs maintenance and supplies and your world is not a fan of the empire we are trying to stay away from. Given that fact I would assume that there could be some type of agreement made between our two sides, not an alliance but a truce of sorts until we are able to depart and with your world a years travel between that and the planet of Vegeta-sei that would be enough time for us to complete whatever work that may be needed for now."

The three human representatives gave each other a side look, but before they offered a response the older graying saiyan Paragus spoke up. "My race is brutal, barbaric, and savage to a fault. However, power and corruption still dominates all races. The royal family is the strongest and most corrupt, they tried to murder me and my son as we were a threat to their empire. We do not wish for future conflict as we've lived far worse than anything your world has endured and we do not wish to enact any needless suffering moving forward. We know more than any how cruel our kind can be, while we can not ever offer assurances of complete trust we ask for the same truce. We will seek no conflict as long as it is not brought to us. Me and my son bear enough scars from this pointless hatred of our own people."

Schwartz gestured for the Major to join him. "We will contact our respective parties and give our answer, but we will not pursue any violent action against you."

Leocht shifted her leg and rested her hand against her knuckled fingers. "Very well we shall allow it but as a display of our own strength. Let me grace you with a taste of my own power." Her light purple eyes flashed a brilliant violet. The glow dazzling those who had not seen it before. But as to what that power was? A brilliant light show was immediate panic outside as a chorus of voices over the radio shouted about vehicles and objects levitating in the air and not a few inches, massive vehicles, and reinforced bunkers built for this very occasion were being lifted up from their positions by an unseen force. Hundreds if not thousands were ready to begin firing but without orders to do so as the three inside were still speaking with them they did not begin to attack though the desire to do so was clear until just as easily as the chaos started they were all set back down with the same almost seamless effort and the bright glow of Leocht's eyes faded. "I am a powerful Psionic, my mind and mental abilities can manipulate many things with the barest effort on my mind. I could crush and bend steel without even batting an eye. Quite possibly I could crush saiyans with my mind but I've not tried… So Please think about your options with your superiors. We will await your answer."

Chi-Chi was hesitant to speak up, she had felt some of that power spike from this alien Leocht. She was not a foe to be underestimated of course the two saiyans that were in her company were also nothing to be ignored either.

Which was the greater threat would be hard to pin down at the moment.

Still as she walked out Chi-Chi removed her mask, capsulizing it as the other two had already departed and headed to their assigned camps in the area and began the process of trying to decide what to do.

Of course Krillin and Tien were not in the political field and came looking for their own update on the present situation. "That was some power that came out of there, just who or what was that? It lifted up people and equipment all over the place and then set them back down." Tien asked, having felt that rush of energy flow out from the ship and into the open air like a tidal wave. It was just raw and unbridled energy that was different from just pure ki.

"That would be the fem fatale woman you all saw. Her name is Leocht, and by her own proven metric a massively powerful psionic." Chi-Chi could still feel the lingering effects from such a display but that wasn't currently on her mind. "But she's not the one to be concerned about, and keep this quiet, but there are two rogue saiyans on that ship and co-operating with her and other aliens."

"No way!" Krillin was completely shocked. "Just what are they doing, this has to be some kind of trick, I mean they came here since we've killed other saiyans, it just has to be why they are doing this now."

It wasn't an entirely unpopular or unexpected idea. I mean why else would anyone come here? What would be the point? There hadn't been any other alien races making their presences known except the saiyans but now a ship full of new species just arrives and takes up hold… like that? No, a person would have to be insane to follow that logic so blindly.

"Well even if that is the case, the saiyan with her she claims is one of the strongest of their kind and given that he is holding back his power I'd believe her." Chi-Chi admitted knowing that there was going to be all kinds of problems if they got into a fight. "He probably would be able to snap his fingers and blow us all away, but I'm sure that Leocht woman is probably keeping him in check somehow." Given her pompous attitude and lack of fear the goat looking woman was someone the saiyans onboard respected or feared, she personally was leaning towards the former as they didn't ever seem to show fear even when faced with death in battle.

So the power brokers of the planet made their decision and Chi-Chi along with those in her company were to sit by and wonder if things were going to go from bad to worse as the parlay remained in place.

It was almost several hours later that a decision was passed down.

A truce was brokered. Unsteady, but what would only more enemies offer humanity at the moment.

But the several powers were sent to the place where they could be studied and observed more than any other. Broly, Paragus, and Leocht became Chi-Chi's neighbors along with a massive hundred megaton nuclear device. The price of brokering a deal with powerful forces.

With the most awkward dinners she had ever participated in her life. The family of Dr. Briefs. The red ribbon representative Colonel Violet, Colonel Schwartz and his adjutant, with Chi-Chi, Krillin, and Tien also sitting at a large banquet table. With Chi-Chi directly across the massive saiyan Broly, beside him Leocht, and his father.

Of course the table was joined by two smaller frames who were on their best behavior, that of Gohan who was busy eyeing the food and missing the entire tension of the situation. But also Bunny Brief's pseudo adoptive daughter Videl who wasn't crying but instead staring wide eyed at Leocht who seemed to notice the little girl's visible attention and gave her a warm motherly smile causing the girl to look away embarrassed.

The hostess was none other than Panchy, wife of Dr. Briefs who took every opportunity to bring back some measure of the debutant of west city and wow her guests in any way possible. Old reserves of family wine stored away for such rich gathers were offered, special guest food reserves brought out and avoiding the pre packaged food that the masses were eating were passed up for entirely frozen, recently thawed and smoked foods, along with new greens from the fresh botanical gardens set up.

"Oh, delightful it is to have company once more, first I have a scalped salad, freshly grated parmesan, dashed with dressing, and shredded bacon and garlic and newly diced peppers." Bunny pushed a few buttons on the table to reveal a more than suitable salad entree for the guests. "Please I do hope you enjoy and do not worry I have plenty of food to come, and do enjoy this fine red wine. It's a fifty year old vintage and just about time to be enjoyed." A machine popped the bottle and poured multiple glasses from the bottle and were evenly spread out by levitation technology to those gathered. Being the host Mrs. Briefs was the first to take a sip and give a smile of approval as she sat beside Videl who was guided to grab a fork to start eating her fresh greens.

Leocht took the lead from her side of the table, picking up the glass with her fingers and bringing it to her mouth to give a light sip. Chi-Chi saw the purple glow brighten almost with approval as the woman gave a smile, noticing that her lips were painted with the lightest shade of dark blue. A light rim on the glass as she set it down. "So very much appreciated. It is a fine tasting wine." Leocht spoke nodding her head towards their host.

"Delightful! Please enjoy, but of course you must tell me if anything is remiss and it will not be repeated and-"

"Honey, please I'm sure everything is wonderful as it always is with you. Please enjoy yourself as well." Dr. Briefs said calming his anxious spouse despite being equally nervous about everything. He hid it well, a man that was used to handling pressures beyond a simple dinner date were nothing when compared to the science and technologies he was tinkering with. Although the gravity of having two full blooded saiyans and an alleged psionic sitting mere feet away for a meal weren't exactly comparable.

Leocht bid the two saiyans to eat with a nod of her head as she sipped more of the wine offered to her. Her gaze shifted from Chi-Chi towards the other side of the table where Colonel Violet was sitting. The military garb was different as she had her makeup, looks and well done. She was a very attractive woman and one skilled with persuasion and hand to hand combat, but nowhere near the level of that Chi-Chi.

"I'm afraid we have not met before, please might I know your name?" Leocht set her glass down as she turned her chair, although it was evidently without her feet as she kept the same pose slowly turning it sideways.

"Forgive the lack of introductions. I am a liaison Colonel Violet to the Red Ribbon army. We have an established alliance with those of Capsule corp and work with other cities for the defense of our planet. I am to be the bridge for any questions or requests that would be made to our organization. Please ask and I shall see what aid our forces can provide."

Leocht slightly leaned forwards, the woman's inquisitive stare only growing as she looked the woman up and down. "You are holding yourself well, but might I ask if your leaders are willing to wholly co-operate alongside my allies? You see there are only three of us that hold the positions of power within our small ship of refugees but I am the mouthpiece, Paragus is the strategist and Broly is the hammer to which worlds fall underneath. Would so many in your organization be willing to let go of those hatreds for my two trusted allies? Can you assure me that there will be no issues moving forward?"

"Of course not, no one acts without the direct orders of our commander Red. We live only because of his vision and training."

'Spoken like a zealot.' Chi-Chi thought with an eye roll, she didn't wholly trust the red ribbon army. Although their technology had been useful for her current arm and the development of further cyborg arms and parts of current weaponry used by forces around the world.

There was still some lingering animosity as the Red Ribbon army had once been a massive military force bent on forcing Earth to bow to its people, it wasn't until half the world was slaughtered did the idea of human unity come to those who fought for them back into their minds. Yet Chi-Chi wouldn't show her hostility openly given that they still supported her and Capsule Corp for the time being. Being in a similar situation as to where they were now of the enemy of my enemy.

'I suppose it's a little ironic we are even in this position.' but as much as she wanted to focus on the animosity she looked to Gohan who was busy licking his bowl clean, literally. Her son's appetite was practically unending. "Enough." She said reaching over and grabbing the bowl from his hands. He gave her a frustrated grunt, showing he was still hungry. "There will be more." She told him.

"Ah I prepared for Gohan's appetite, here you go." Panchy said sending a few more bowls of rice and steamed vegetables which he liked to his side of the plate which he began to devour.

For the first time Paragus opened his mouth to speak beyond a grunt of acknowledgment. "Is that your child?" The graying saiyan looked carefully at the boy and what he assumed to be its progenitor.

"Yes, he is mine."

" Is-" He was stopped as Leocht held up a hand to him.

"I believe personal questions should be addressed till later, I feel that the point of this gathering is more than a simple exchange of pleasantries. I'd ask that we speak more on the terms of business than on things that are not within our control."

Chi-Chi wasn't going to try and reproach that sitting across from saiyans wasn't exactly comforting either, but if there were any that could figure out that her baby boy was a hybrid offspring it would be the race that forced it upon her.

"Please forgive his rudeness, Miss Chi-Chi. Your son will be off limits for conversation, although I would like to address Dr. Briefs as the pseudo leader of this area."

"Dr. Briefs is not a leader but his resources, and scientific mind is our representative. We have several others who act on behalf of his city diplomatically." Schwartz said, trying to steer the conversation away from anything that might slip out. The lead scientist of Capsule Corp was a man of science first, family man second, followed by a politician and diplomatic leader. "If you have any questions to speak about involving other groups our organization can help with that."

"Hmm," She eyed the military officer with a slight hum before setting down her glass of wine. Her purple eyes shifted ever slightly. "Very well then I shall refrain from further diplomatic talks with the host family. But might I ask our lovely hostess a few questions…"

[***]

The rest of the evening came and went, the obvious control of Leocht over the saiyans showed immeasurably. But disheartening to that was the obvious growing distrust in the hive cities of Earth. Sure the Red Ribbon and Capsule Corp were allies for now, but that was probably due to resources plain and simple. The fact that now the saiyans were housed within Capsule Corp…

Father looked to son in the corridor of the quiet hallway. With their own party leader still doing her best to wow, wine, and dine those in attendance. Humans were beset by those of beauty, both foreign and domestic; it was why they were not saiyans. For power was the true mettle of a species and only after suffering a harrowing defeats time and time again by their race did they begin to balance the real priorities as a collective.

"You felt it as well boy?" The aged saiyan warrior said as he looked at his spawn.

He nodded his head slowly in response, his head looking in the direction of one of those two notable powers.

"I will look into the child, I do not understand how or what their purpose is in harboring our young but you will investigate her." Again he was met with another nod. "She complies or becomes a hindrance and you know what one must do to anything that threatens our progress." The father gave his boy a sharp glare before abruptly turning to look into the visible hybrid in their midst while his son handled the woman claiming to be its mother.

The encounter came as Broly moved with an unseen speed by anyone on Earth. "You hide your strength well, but even more that of your child." A voice spoke as Chi-Chi went through her Katas in the training room.

One she did not know and one that had appeared without her even being able to sense it. But the underlying flows of energy could only be one person. Still she didn't show any change as she slowly moved back up into her pose and turned towards the saiyan known as Broly.

The two stared at one another, soft brown looking into a sullen black. His appearance unchanged since their evening meal. He was everything that was revolting about their race in Chi-Chi's eyes with the only one being his eyes. They were that of a man beaten down, not the confident and arrogant ones that had tormented her that night and in her dreams following.

The uneasiness in the air persisted until Chi-Chi finally spoke. "What do you want?"

"Answers… I saw it, my father also saw it. You have a saiyan child. Why?" Broly took a slow dragging step towards her.

"My son has nothing to do with you and even if I am far weaker than you. I will do my best to take you out like what those of your race put me through."

Broly took another step, "You sired a half-breed. Our people wouldn't let you do that unless…"

There wasn't a moment of hesitation as Chi-Chi threw the first punch, but Broly caught her fist without even so much as blinking as he brought it down with the barest of effort. "What are you to them?" She swung again, he moved, spinning her mechanical arm back behind her and catching her throat in a rear choke with his massive arm that felt more like steel than a limb of flesh and blood.

He picked her up and off the ground as Chi-Chi tried to flare her ki and break free. "I can crush you right now if I want… Are you a part of their experiments? Are you working with them to sire more warriors?"

Struggling to breathe, and rapidly coming to hate her previous thoughts about those who had come here. The woman manged a sparse and weak, "Fuck you."

It made Broly's lip twitch in amusement, "No begging or pleading. Good. Now speak." He released just a fraction of her throat so air could move without her continual strangulation.

"I will kill every single saiyan no matter what it takes! I don't care if I die!" Chi-Chi wasn't going to let them get away with this. Her eyes were straining red as she tried to focus her energy into her mechanical arm. Trying to build another explosive outcome but the saiyan holding her only laughed.

"That will not kill me, you will kill yourself and if you provoke any action like that my father will do what has to be done within this place and you can't threaten Leocht, her powers are not to be underestimated she will manipulate the other humans and use them up like so many other fodder races before." He taunted her as Chi-Chi still struggled to break free.

"Oh dear… you boys really like to play your games." A voice sighed annoyedly from the air. A purple projection flared to life inside of the room just in front of Broly and Chi-Chi. It was ethereals but bore a striking similarity to that of the goat horned representative. "Let her go." Was ordered.
