Fic that I'm doing for a supporter. The first chapter is short and just a taste of what's to come. He has, however, shown interest in commissioning longer chapters in the future. For now, think of this as a preview.
As the summary indicates, this is a Peggy Sue Ruby fic where she went back in time and is trying to get the optimal ending for everyone. And make sure she rizzes Jaune in the process.
Future chapters will likely be M rated and have some smut, so those will be posted a week early for supporters, same as 'Surviving Women'.

Here he was: Beacon.
Jaune stepped off the airship with his head held high and a smile on his face. This was it, he thought. All those weeks preparing, getting fake transcripts, and telling his parents the perfect lie about what he was doing in Vale alone. If Mom, Dad, and the rest of his sisters knew what he was doing in Vale they would've freaked the heck out. Him, trying to be a Huntsman with no training besides some ad-hoc lessons he got from remtube videos.
But he wanted...he needed to do this. He'd heard the stories about his great-great-grandfather, great-grandfather, and grandfather after him. Warrior and heroes one and all. Dad didn't keep up the family tradition, choosing to settle down instead as the head of a winery in his hometown of Domremy. Jaune respected the man for it - he raised eight kids and made sure they wanted for nothing - but he couldn't imagine himself living that life. At least not yet. He wanted to live up to his ancestors first.
He took a deep breath and looked on at the sight of Beacon. He'd seen pictures, of course, but it was nothing compared to seeing it in person. This was where he'd spend the next four years...assuming he passed, that is. His transcripts got him through the door, but he heard there was another test. The Initiation, apparently. It was to make sure that you didn't just get in through blind luck or, you know, fake your transcripts.
So really, he wasn't doing anything wrong here. If he didn't deserve to be in Beacon, he'd fail the Initiation. If he did, then he'd pass.
Jaune had barely taken a few steps across the bridge when an explosion rang out ahead of him. The blonde winced and covered his face, ignoring how he almost stumbled from the force of the blast. He looked to the source of the explosion and saw a a crater with two shadowy figures through the smoke. One of them was gesturing and yelling while the other was sitting on the ruined bridge.
"You clumsy dolt! Do you have any idea how much Dust that was?!" A loud, sonorous voice yelled, "Nothing to say for yourself? Fine then. Just stay away from me lest I decide to make you pay back all the Dust you've just ruined!"
The figure stepped out and Jaune caught sight of the most elegant person he'd seen in his life. Snow white hair, pale skin, and an equally white dress with smatterings of red. She was probably the prettiest girl he'd seen, though he shouldn't have been surprised. Huntsmen and Huntresses were well-known for being the physical peak of their generation. Anything less and they wouldn't survive the Grimm.
Jaune looked around the bridge and blinked at the sight of everyone ignoring the other figure still left in the crater. Did...Huntsmen just not care about explosions less than twenty feet from them? Should he keep moving too? He shook his head. No, he had to try and help. That was what Huntsmen were supposed to do, right? Help strangers in need?
Jaune nodded to himself and walked over to the crater. The smoke had dissipated now, allowing him to see who the other figure was. Short black hair with red tips, pale skin, and silver eyes. She wore a gothic-looking dress and a red cloak that looked like it belonged more to a cosplayer than a fighter. Then again, he wasn't surprised. Besides looking good, Huntsmen had pretty unique fashion senses.
"Uh...are you okay?" he asked the younger(?) girl. She looked younger, but she was at Beacon, so she had to be 17.
"Wait, where am I?" She looked around in confusion for a bit before she gasped and looked up at him, "Wait, am I at Beacon on the first day?!"
"Um...yeah, you are." Jaune nodded awkwardly. How strong was that explosion that she forgot that?
"Haha, yes! Yes! It worked!" She stood up like she hadn't just been blasted by an explosion and raised her arms in the air, cheering like she'd just won the lottery, "I knew it would work! Eat it, Weiss!"
"Are you okay...?" Jaune asked. Please tell him he didn't meet a crazy person.
"Oh, I'm better than okay! I'm here at Beacon! Woo!" She jumped and suddenly hugged him. Normally, he wasn't exactly fond of being hugged by random strangers, but the girl's weird energy was infectious. That and she was cute...what? He was a teenager, "Everyone doubted me, but I knew it'd work! And now I'm here at Beacon! Ruby Rose is here, everyone!"
"Uh...good for you?" Jaune waited for her to let go of him. She didn't, "So, could you maybe...let go? You're kinda hurting my arms?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, you don't have Aura yet. My bad." She stepped back and stuck her tongue out.
"How do you, uh, how do you know that?" He'd tried getting his Aura unlocked before coming here, but he had no luck. Visiting Huntsmen were all too used to bright-eyed youths asking for their Aura to be unlocked and the Militia weren't strong enough to unlock somebody else's Aura. Hey, they could barely use their own. He was hoping to get another student or, last case resort, a teacher to unlock his. Maybe say something about how his Aura broke cause of a fight and just wouldn't come back. That sounded sensible.
"I can just tell." She winked, "Want me to unlock it for you? Won't take a minute!"
"R-Really?! Y-Yeah, please!"
"Alright. Hold my hands." She reached out both hands, which he took without hesitation. Her palms were soft though her grip was surprisingly tight, "Close your eyes and feel the power coursing through you."
"O-Okay." He closed his eyes.
"For it is in love that we find purpose. The bonds we forge give us the strength to stand against the darkness. We fight together as one as I release your soul and, by your side, fight with thee."
He...didn't know how to describe what came next. Power and energy, but not like the times he got a runner's high or that one time he drank seven whole bottles of energy drinks on a dare. It was true strength, strength that couldn't be gained even if he'd spent years training his body to its physical peak. His very soul seemed to glow brighter, and when he opened his eyes again, he saw Ruby looking up at him with an expression of utter adoration.
"Wow, that was...thanks, Ruby." Jaune smiled.
"No problem!" She let go of his hand and then suddenly twisted till she was at his right side. Both her arms were wrapped around his arm, "Come on, we should go to the auditorium before we're late!"
"Sure, um...you know you don't have to hold my arm, right?" Were Huntresses just grabby?
"I know, but what if you get lost? Then we'll be late! It's easier this way!" She nodded forcefully.
"If you say so..."
Jaune let Ruby lead him to the auditorium. This...wasn't bad, he thought. Sure, Ruby was kinda touchy, but she'd awakened his Aura without asking for anything and she was super friendly on top of it. Honestly, he was pretty lucky, all things considered. Maybe they'd even get to be on the same team. He heard that all the students went in teams of four while they were in the academy.
"Ruby, there you are!" Someone called when they entered the auditorium. Another blonde with muscles that put his to shame walked up to them then stopped when she saw where Ruby's arms were, "Woah, what's happening here, Rubes? Found a boyfriend already?"
"Sure did!" Ruby stuck her tongue out again.
"Wait, what?" Jaune looked at her.
"Wait, what?" The blonde - Ruby's friend, by the looks of it - looked absolutely gobsmacked.
"You told me to go and find friends, right? Well, I'm gonna hang out with him now. Go hang out with your shadowy friends." She made a shooing gesture and dragged Jaune over to another part of the auditorium, leaving the other blonde to stare at them like a gaping fish, "Heh, she thought she was so smart the first time. How's it feel now, Yang?" Ruby muttered.
"Huh?"
"Oh, n-nothing! It's nothing!" Ruby held his arm tighter and beamed up at him, "Come on, let's listen to the headmaster's speech!"
The (not-so) encouraging speech from the headmaster came and went and they were quickly told to go get their sleeping bags ready. Jaune changed into his onesie and set his sleeping bag down. He'd barely managed to lie down before Ruby put her sleeping bag right next to his and plopped down on top of it.
"Hey, Jaune!" she chirped.
"Hey, Ruby. Uh...not sleeping with your sister?" The blonde girl - Yang, apparently - was her sister. Weird, they didn't look anything alike. She looked more like his sister than Ruby's,
"Nope," she said, popping the P, "Come on, let's get some sleep! We need to wake up bright and early for Initiation!"
"Right..."
A dreamless sleep came and went, and when Jaune woke again it was with Ruby cuddled up to his chest with his arms wrapped around her. How did she...? He shook his head. They slept pretty close, she probably just moved around in her sleep or something. He looked down at the sleeping redhead and felt his heart flutter. Woah, she looked really cute. Way cuter than any of the girls back home.
Ruby's face scrunched and she let out a soft yawn. Cute, "Mornin', Jaune~"
"Morning. We should get ready."
"Alrighty!"
She hopped up to her feet with Jaune following. After a quick change of clothes, he went to where his locker would've been, "Number B32..." He looked around and saw his locker in front of the screaming girl from before and a tall red-headed girl who looked like an old Mistrali warrior. He was about to ask if he could move past them to get to his locker when another voice cut in.
"Hey, sorry! Coming through!" Ruby said, getting in between the pair. The redhead looked surprised while the white-haired girl quickly became annoyed, "Ugh, it's you. What do you want?"
"Jaune's locker is between you two. Don't you know it's rude to block people, Weiss?"
"I...that is, well." 'Weiss' harrumphed and crossed her arms, "And how exactly do you know my name?"
"I'm a big fan of all your songs! Mirror, Mirror is my favorite!"
"Oh, well...at least you have good taste in music." Weiss huffed, though she looked less annoyed than before, "Perhaps we can continue our conversation at a later time, Pyrrha?"
"Perhaps." Pyrrha's smile was stiff.
"Maybe we can be on a team together!" Ruby called out as the two left. She turned back to him, "Come on, Jaune, get your stuff! We don't wanna be late!"
"How...did you know that's my locker?"
"Huh? You told me yesterday." He did? Jaune didn't remember, but Ruby sounded so sure when she said it. He must've just forgotten, "Come on let's go!"
"I'm coming!"
Initiation ended up being catapulted into a forest full of Grimm and becoming the first person you made eye contact with. Well, Huntsmen definitely didn't do anything by half, that was for sure. He'd thanked the Gods that Ruby unlocked his Aura yesterday. He did not like the idea of being launched into the forest without it. It'd be a miracle if he survived the landing.
Not that he had to worry about that either. Jaune was in the middle of his arc when a red blur suddenly grabbed him and safely took him to a nearby clearing. Jaune gasped at the sudden shift in movement and groaned when he was dumped on his butt unceremoniously on the grass.
"Wha-"
"Hey, Jaune!" Ruby grinned down at him, "Guess we're partners!"
"Uh...yeah, I guess we are." Jaune nodded and stood up shakily. Well, it could've been worse. Ruby was a friend, as weird as she was, "We should find those things that the headmaster told us to get."
"Chess pieces."
"Did he say chess pieces?"
"Yep. You probably just weren't paying attention, silly." She tapped his nose and walked ahead, giggling all the while. Jaune laughed under his breath in turn and followed her. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad.
Initiation ended up being...well, it was a complete curbstomp. Not from him, as much as he wanted it to be, but Ruby. They got to talking before meeting up with Weiss and Pyrrha and she told him that she was 15 years old. 2 years too early to attend Beacon, but apparently she almost stopped Roman Torchwick. Couple that with her grades and the headmaster let her in as a bonafide prodigy.
Jaune would've been lying if he said he wasn't jealous, but he knew it was wrong. Ruby worked for all her skills, he couldn't get mad at her for that. And despite being a prodigy, she was so nice and supportive. Jaune really had gotten lucky.
Though, it was kind of a bummer that he, Weiss, and Pyrrha didn't get to do much of anything. Weiss bragged about her personal tutors and she bragged for Pyrrha that the redhead was some kind of tournament champion from Mistral. None of that mattered when Rugy mopped up the Grimm before they could swing and then cut a Nevermore in half in under a minute.
She really was a prodigy...
Soon enough, he and his three new teammates stood in the auditorium as the teams were called.
"Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao Long, Lie Ren, and Nora Valkyrie. You are henceforth known as team BYRN (Barn) led by Blake Belladonna," the headmaster announced.
The group ahead of them walked on stage. Blake, the girl with the dark hair and an even darker bow, looked offended for some reason.
"Ruby Rose, Jaune Arc, Weiss Schnee, and Pyrrha Nikos. You are henceforth known as team RASP (Raspberry) led by Ruby Rose," the headmaster announced again. Ruby grinned while Weiss looked somewhat annoyed. Even if she wanted to complain, Ruby's performance spoke for itself. She didn't even need a team with how skilled she was.
Ruby and Jaune made their way back to their room. Pyrrha said she had to talk to her manager while Weiss huffed and puffed and said she needed to make a call. Ruby shrugged them off and said that they'd meet them in the room later.
"So...congrats on being the leader. You earned it," Jaune said when they arrived at the room.
"Heh. If you say so." Ruby's smile hadn't dropped since Initiation started, "What about you, though? We need to get you up to snuff."
"Yeah..." Jaune frowned and rubbed the back of his head, "Listen, about that-"
"Oh, it's no problem. I can train you after classes. By the time I'm done, no one will know you faked your transcripts!" Ruby's bright smile did nothing to quell the sudden spike of anxiety and fear in his gut. Wait, how did she... "Oh, but you probably shouldn't be telling anyone about that. Weiss is a sweet girl, but she's still kind of a brat right now. She'll definitely tell on you if she found out you faked that."
"I...don't know what you mean, Ruby." Jaune shook.
"Sure~ you don't." Ruby winked and turned around, unpacking her luggage on the bed next to his, "Oh, and maybe we can visit Saphron when the first break comes! Has Adrien been born yet?"
"I...what?"
"Sorry, dumb question." Ruby shook her head and kept unpacking, her face hidden from view. Jaune's frown turned into a look of utter horror. She knew about his transcripts and Saphron? How? He hadn't met her before today! He'd remember! That meant...was she a stalker?! That explained it. She knew about his plans and about his family. She must've stalked him and saw how he got the papers.
Oh gods, oh gods! What was he gonna do now? Was she trying to blackmail him? No, she hadn't said she wanted anything, and it wasn't like his family was the richest. But then why mention his transcripts and sister? Was she trying to tell him that she could blackmail him if she wanted? Maybe. He'd read a lot of comics. He could practically hear the 'shame if something happened' warning in her tone.
Jaune took a deep breath and clenched his fists on the bedsheets. Okay, he could do this. He wouldn't give Ruby any reason to expose his transcripts or go after his family.
"Hey, Jaune! Think we should push our beds together? That way we can cuddle!"
...
This was gonna be a long four years.
Poor Jaune. Then again, anyone would be freaked out if a stranger suddenly started talking about things they definitely should not know. Ruby might be the strongest Huntsman in Beacon right now, but she still has a terminal lack of rizz.
Like I said, a second chapter will come if the support commissions it. Maybe we can see from Ruby's POV.
