A/N: Oh boy! New chapter. And oh boy some questions!
To Arguable: I have heard of the game! But I haven't played it. So maybe it's the same with Seth. You can say the Idea of Seth's Music was an inspiration for his heart to be the source of it. (After looking it up) Honestly, now that I've seen a bit of it, you could be right. I will have to play the game later and see. But thank you for the recommendation. Hope this answers your question, if not I will update it later.
To Guest: That was my original plan to use all of the songs. But now I don't feel like I would be using all of them, we will see when I get there. I'm not going to lie, some of the song placements are going to be confusing, but I will see what I can come up with. Hope this answers your question, if not I will update it later.
Thank you for the questions and now back to the story!
Chapter 27: What is this situation I'm in?!
"..."
"..."
This is awkward. We have been like this for the past five minutes, yet Arslan hasn't even spoken a word to me. You might also wonder why I'm not the one starting the conversation.
Well...
I glanced down in front of me. There I had my hands on top of a table and in front of that was a knife sitting there. For some reason, Arslan decided to pick it up once we entered the kitchen. She told me to take a seat and once I did, she placed it right in front of me.
Yeah, I don't think now was a good time to do something dumb on my part.
"..."
"..."
I look back at her and see her eyes just keep staring at me.
God If she is going to hit me just hit my head first. That way I don't feel the next punch after.
Sigh... Come on Seth you dealt with way worse before. You dealt with students fighting you, dealt with the White Fang, Fought Pyrrha a bunch of times, and to top it all off, fought your Mother when she was trying to test you. I think you can handle some girl that hates you! So Sit right up, plant your feet, and TALK! TO! -
"So tell me exactly what happened here?"
"She Speaks!" I raise my hand with joy. But I put them down when I see her narrow her eyes at me. "Ehe... Sorry."
"Answer the question, Sapphire."
"Well... We were minding our own business." I see her reach for the knife and quickly grab her hand. "The group called the spiders entered your Grandmother's restaurant and asked for ransom money. But your Grandmother told them no, well they started to trash the place. So Bolin Reese and I decided to go and help out. And well... We kind of made a mess of the place. We were getting surrounded but then you showed up and we finally put an end to the whole mess. And that's all that happened." I quickly summed up what had occurred here to her to defuse the situation I was getting myself into, and I could tell it worked.
She stopped reaching for the knife and just kept staring at her hand. I looked at where she was staring and quickly let go, bringing my hand back to me waiting for her response.
...
...
"..."
Aw come on we just started talking and now you are just gonna stay quiet! Arslan! Talk to me!
"I see. So they attack this time around. This is getting bad."
"This time around, what do you mean?"
She looks back at me and narrows her eyes again.
"This doesn't concern you Sapphire so I suggest you stay out of it."
"Okay, that's fine. So here is my question to you. Why am I here? I doubt it was to get any info on what happened because you could have just asked your grandmother or one of the others. So again. Why. Am. I. Here?" I narrowed my eyes at her this time but seeing that I had my sunglasses on it was hard to tell from her point of view.
"My challenge that I gave to you, I wish to-"
And like that, she lost me. Honestly, I just stopped paying attention to her once she said those words to me. Like for real, what the fuck! You drag me to the back of this restaurant to get some info that you could have gotten from anyone else. But your secret goal was to have a fight with me!
Girl, get your priorities straight!
Honestly, this was just a waste of time. I'm getting out of here and...
Wait... Waste of time. What time is it?
I reach for my scroll and check to see the time.
...
...
...
It's nine o'clock, almost ten!
That means the first day of the tournament should have ended by now.
...
...
...
Shit! I need to find Lionheart to get Qrows number!
I get up from the chair and begin to leave.
"Hey! Where are you going?! I'm still not finished talking to you!" I heard Arslan talk behind me but I explained to her that I had to go.
"I'm leaving, I need to find the headmaster fast before the day ends. He has something important for me. We can talk late-"
As I began to reach the door I felt something on my left arm. Turning to see what it was, I saw Arslan's spear and bandage around it, I raised my head toward her and saw her holding it from her end.
"I said we are not done talking Sapphire." She begins to pull me towards her and this grabs me by surprise that I get pulled in her direction.
"WAHHH!"
Okay, she is crazy beyond helping. Sigh... I need to have a word with Pyrrha about her and why I was mentioned.
Regaining my footing I began to turn around and catch myself before I fell toward her. But that only made me hit the side of the table which made me push said table towards her.
"So you finally attack me."
"Bullshit you started it! I was only trying to catch my- WOAH!" I ducked under one of her kicks and began to back away.
"Fight me!"
"You are crazy! Why are you like this!" I block more of her attacks.
"Fight ME!" Arslan said while sending a barrage of punches my way.
Okay, this was getting me nowhere. I parried one of her attacks and sent a palm strike toward her stomach sending her back. With that being my chance I run out of the kitchen.
"Get back here Sapphire!" I heard Arslan yell behind me but I just ignored it.
As I pass through the door I am met with Bolin Reese and Granny Lee just looking at me wondering what was all the commotion back there.
"Seth? Is everything-" Bolin started but I just began to run to the exit.
"No time now I need to run! I got something big right now!" I said to them as I got close to the exit doors grabbed my weapon and left the building. But I also heard my name being called out from behind me.
"Sapphire!" I knew who it was but I did not want to turn around a see her reaction.
"You can't escape me! I'll chase you to the ends of Remnant!" Arslan screamed her goal and began to chase after Seth. Also leaving her grandmother's restaurant.
Back inside said restaurant. The group of three were shocked to see what had just occurred in front of them and two of them just turned their heads to the only one who actually knew Arslan.
"So is that normal for her Granny Lee or..." Reese said with a confused expression on her face.
"Oh no, this one is new for me as well. I'll say whoever that young man is, he really made an impression on her." Granny Lee told the two with a smile on her face.
"I don't think that was a good thing though. Reese, we should probably go and help Seth. Knowing him he might make things worse." With that Bolin got up and began to walk towards the exit.
"Alright. But how bad can it be."
'Run, boy, run! This world is not made for you'
'Run, boy, run! They're trying to catch you'
Man, I wish I could play that song right now but seeing that I was already being chased down I need to think of a plan fast! Okay, think Seth, once I make it to the school grounds I'm going to have to blend in with the rest of the crowd, I really need to find the headmaster fast and try to escape this girl.
Speaking of girl. I turn my head and yep she is still chasing me, and by the look of it she is gaining up on me. I run past a few people trying my best not to bump into them or try not to hit anything so I don't lose speed. Honestly, at this rate, I should be close to the school and there I can maybe lose her.
I reached inside my jacket and debated if I should use one of my flash grenades, but seeing that there were more civilians here rather than competitors I felt like I would get in more trouble with a stunt like this. I won't be able to flash my way out of this one.
At least the good thing was that I could see the entrance of the school.
'Yes! Almost home free. Come on Seth push it to the limit!'
Getting closer and closer to the doors I was going to use all of my strength to push those doors open and quickly close them so Arslan wouldn't follow. Now I ran as quickly as I could, seeing that I was so close to it. In 5...4...3...2...1... Lets-.
SLAM!
...
...
...
I began to slip off the door and fall to the ground in pain.
"OW! Why... Is the door locked!" I began to rub my face trying to not feel the pain in my nose and face.
'Why is the door locked? This can't be right the door should be open to all.' I get back up from the ground and put my hand on the handle, I try to push the door yet nothing happens. I even pulled on it just to be sure and yet nothing.
"Okay this is fine surely I can just enter from another entrance and then I can-" I felt something around my waist.
'Oh for fuck sake.' I quickly held on to the handles of the door and felt myself getting pulled by the force behind me.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Will you stop pulling me!" The tugging soon stopped and when I tried to turn around I was met with Arslan right in front of me.
I was about to speak but Arslan just slammed a hand right next to my head. Making me stop whatever I was about to say.
...
...
...
I see her face get close to mine and for some reason, I turn my face away from her.
She leaned in and said.
"Fight me." In a low and annoyed voice.
...
...
...
Sigh... This girl.
You know if this is going to continue on I feel like this will be the only way for me to get rid of her once and for all. I turn my head to face her. "Fine. Just let me talk to the Headmaster first and then we can fight. Okay?"
I see her nod her head and begin to back away from me. She then grabs me by the hand and begins to drag me away from the school.
"Wait! Where are you taking me?" I tried to pull my hand free but I felt her grip get stronger with each pull.
"I know where the Headmaster is at. I will take you there." With that out of the way she just keeps pulling me in the direction of where the headmaster was located.
I hope this is true because I just want to get this day over with already.
All this is just for a number. I hope this pays off in the end.
We just continue to walk away from the school and into the streets of Mistral.
...
...
...
"Seth?" Someone said to themselves as they watched the scene that had occurred just now.
"This is the place?" I question.
"You know you ask too many questions, Sapphire."
" 'I' ask too many questions?!"
"Yes, this is the place. He's inside."
I turned my head and saw that both Bolin and Reese nodded their heads in agreement.
They were able to catch up with us the moment we started to walk in their direction, they both looked confused about the turn of events, but I had to explain to them what was going on right now. So they just followed us to this place. I could tell that Bolin was trying his best not to laugh but a stern look from Arslan and me, made him shut up fast.
The place in question was a ramen place.
Pretty weird to be honest here but sure let's go with it.
"Alright let's get this over with." I was about to head in but stopped when I felt I wasn't going anywhere. I turn to look at Arslan.
"What?"
"You mind letting me go now?" I raise my hand to show her still grabbing it.
"What happends if you decide to run away?"
"I'm not."
"Hmm." Arslan looked at me almost like she didn't believe me.
"I already made a promise to you, so I will keep my word that I will fight you. So you can let go."
It takes her a good second but eventually, she lets go of my hand.
"You better keep your word, Sapphire."
Man, this girl might have some trust issues, than I first thought. Well whatever the case is, I'm sure she will figure it out.
Entering the Ramen shop I saw that it was mostly empty with the exception of the person behind a table. Walking toward him, he sees me. "Welcome, just one?"
"Actually I am here to see if Headmaster Lionheart was here."
"He is." He points to a door. " However he is having a meeting with someone right now so he might take a-"
The door that he pointed at opened and out walked.
'Holy Shit! That is one tall Mother-!'
OW!
A very tall man walks out, He has short dark brown hair, is very muscular, and looks middle-aged. The man was wearing a green coat with a black undershirt.
But something that got my attention was that he looked very calm.
ACK!
Ow, my head is starting to hurt again.
I closed my eyes and saw this man attack some kid. I then see him stab himself with what looks to be dust crystals in his arms. Soon he begins to pin down some girl, shocking her.
Calm down, Seth. I placed a hand on my chest to keep my breathing calm, but it was not helping at all.
This feeling... It's the same one I had with Lionheart. Every part of my body is telling me to attack this guy. But I don't know this person. Who is he? And why am I panicking?
"Are you alright?"
I open my eyes again and see the tall man right in front of me.
'Stay calm Seth Stay calm.'
"I... Yes sorry sir, I just got a headache."
"Do you need something?" He looks at me.
I am so thankful for these sunglasses because they are really helping keep my eyes covered from him.
"I... I am here to speak with mister... I mean Headmaster Lionheart. Is he here?"
"Hmm. He is, we are just done talking. I'll be taking my leave now." He begins to walk past me and heads towards the exit.
'Damn just relax everything is fine.'
"By the way." I heard behind me. " Are you planning on becoming a huntsman kid?" The tall man asked.
...
...
...
"I am." I answer.
...
...
...
"Hmm... Good Luck." With those final words, he left the ramen shop. Leaving me in a state of panic and scared for some reason.
Who was he?
"Mister Sapphire? What are you doing here?" I looked up and saw the Headmaster was beginning to walk out of the room he was in.
Whatever these feelings are. It is not going away.
"I'm here for that number sir."
I just want this day to end.
Waking up I felt like the dream I had was something that came out of a show. I dreamt of a girl stopping some robbers and then going for the big boss. Then getting selected to become a trained professional. Well, that's all I remember. Dreams are weird.
But at least one good thing about dreams is.
I reach for my scroll and look at it and the number that I had acquired yesterday.
They can come true.
'I should probably call him later, it is still early.' I looked at the time and saw that it was nine in the morning.
I honestly thought that the Headmaster was going to be a problem yesterday. After I found him, he was really willing to give me Qrow's number, and told me that he was waiting for me but I never showed. I apologized to him and told him Mistral was a big place.
A lie but he really didn't need to know the truth.
And after I got it, I thanked him for his cooperation.
However, the moment I left the ramen shop, Arslan looked like she was ready to begin our fight. But thankfully Bolin and Reese were able to convince her that it was already late and we could have our fight tomorrow.
Honestly at this point, I can probably take a train back home and not worry about her anymore. But something told me she was not going to give up that easy and that thought actually scared me.
Well, not much to do now but relax and enjoy my day.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
I raise my head and turn to the door.
'No fucking way dude.'
I quickly got up, put on some pants, grabbed Favillae and began to walk toward the door.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Slowly getting closer to the door I prepare my weapon.
'Please gods don't let it be her!'
I grab the doorknob and begin to turn it. Opening the door I was met with green eyes.
"Pyrrha? How did you find-"
I get cut off once she pushes me aside and begins to enter my room.
'Oh, she looks upset for some reason.'
I close the door and lock it then I put Favillae down and turn to see Pyrrha standing in the middle of the room I was staying in with her arms crossed. She was wearing her combat gear and looked like she was ready to fight.
Okay Seth it's fine, just be a good host and offer her a drink.
"You need something?"
Damn it!
"Where were you yesterday?" She told me while keeping her back face to me.
...
...
...
"I was... I was hanging out with Bolin and one of his friends. After their match, we just went to go and eat. Why?"
"So all day you went and ate?"
Okay, why was I being interrogated right now?
"Well, we had a little run-in with a group. And we kind of made a mess of a place. So we were there all day... Are you upset?"
She finally turns to me and I can see her smiling, but this was no smile that she usually gives. This was her showbiz smile, her fake smile.
"Oh no, I was just wondering that's all."
"I see... Well, how did you know I was here?"
"I met Bolin earlier today and he told me where you were staying, he was with someone else, a nice girl with Green hair."
"Oh, that was probably Reese. Yeah, she is really nice."
"And has Green eyes." Pyrrha whispers to herself.
"What?"
"Nothing... So what are your plans today?"
"Well, I got a fight, so that's later."
"But, you are not competing." She asked in confusion.
"Well... I met Arslan."
...
...
"Oh... You did? Well, that's nice..." I can see her eyes beginning to look away from me.
"Yeah, and for some reason she has the most determined mindset on fighting me. Do you know why that is?" Now it was my turn to cross my arms.
...
...
...
"I have no idea, Seth. Ehe." She begins to look away trying her best not to look guilty of something.
"What do you mean 'Ehe!' Pyrrha she is crazy!"
"I'm sorry!" She looks at me with an apologizing look.
I just rub my face with annoyance.
Sigh... "I just want to know when this whole thing happened. And when did I become a rival to you?"
"Well, you know how she is right?"
"I have seen it first hand. Yes."
"Well, it happened around a year ago and it was the only way to get her off my back. She was trying each time to prove herself that she was my rival. But then... I mention you and well... She took offense to that. Honestly Seth I never thought you would be returning to Mistral so I just thought you two would never meet. But trust me, Seth, she really is a nice person once you get to know her. She is just a little..."
"Crazy? Fight hungry? Intense!?"
"Yes."
Well, at least that answers some questions for me. But still.
"Well, thanks to you I have to fight her now."
"Really? Why?"
"I made a promise to her."
"And how did that happen?"
"Trying to find the headmaster yesterday and well she caught me in a rock in a hard place. So she helped me out and well, yeah... But on the good side of all of this, I have my ticket to get into Beacon now!"
"Really! That's Grand!"
"Yep! All I have to do is call this guy and hopefully, he can help me."
"That's wonderful news. So have you made the call yet?"
"Not yet it's still early so maybe in a few hours I'll call him and see what he can do. But for now, I was planning on resting a bit and enjoying my day."
"Or... We can explore more of Mistral as well."
I mean sure we can but... I looked at her and saw that she was excited to explore Mistral. I mean she has been here more than me I'm sure she has seen it all by now.
Sigh..."Fine, we can explore. Just let me change and get my stuff. This was my last night after all." I moved to get my Jacket and my backpack.
"Why is this your last night?"
"Well... I had to pay for food to a bunch of people who forgot their Lien so yeah." I put on my jacket and put on my sunglasses.
"So where will you be staying?"
"No idea. But that's future me problem. Alright, I'm ready to go." I move to go to the door but Pyrrha calls my name.
As I turn I see her standing close to me and does something that I was not expecting.
She gets so close to me that it makes me take a step back, making me hit the door, and then she slams her hand right next to my head. For some reason, I turned my head away from her seeing that her face was close to mine.
Talk about deja vu.
"Yes let us go." She told me and when I turned to face her. I saw that she took a step back and was smiling for some reason.
"Ye...Yea lets go." I remove my back from the door and open it then I see her step out.
...
...
...
Sigh... Too many questions, not many answers. This day is going to be weird.
Stepping out of the room I see Pyrrha waiting next to an elevator.
"So tell me what happened yesterday?"
"Well, do I have a story to tell you."
You know I might not be the brightest person when it comes to somethings, but I could always tell when someone was upset. And right now walking next to Pyrrha I could tell she was really upset. Why you may ask.
Well, don't look at me, Like I said 'Somethings'. I'm not a mind reader.
"Soooo. When is your match?"
"Tonight."
Okay, so we are playing one-word answer then. Thats fine.
"Are you upset with me?"
"Yes." Shit.
"You want me to leave you alone?"
"No." Thats good!
"Want to get some food?"
"Perhaps." Two out of three! My win!
Walking around Mistral Commercial District is really nice but not having a good time with your friend is kind of sad. Maybe I should have invited Bolin and Reese with us. Then this whole walk could be less awkward.
As we continued to walk we kept on seeing more shops that were packed with people. And trying to find a place to eat was getting a little bit tedious.
"It's pretty packed compared to other years."
"I'm surprised you are not getting stopped every second to take pictures."
"Please don't jinx us, Seth. On the other hand, finding a place will be hard to do."
"Well I know one place but..." I kept looking around for any hope. But no luck.
"Is it bad?"
"Oh no. By far it's the best place I have ever been in. However, I'm hoping she is not there."
"Well lets go then."
Well, not much I can do now. Seeing that my options were gone, I guess we are going to Granny Lee's Tea House. I pulled out my scroll and decided to send a text to Bolin and see if he wanted to hang out with us. The more the merrier.
After a ten-minute walk, we finally arrived at Granny Lee's place and once we stepped inside we saw that it was mostly empty with the exception of a few people and Granny Lee herself behind the bar stand.
Hearing the door open Granny Lee turned to us and was surprised to see more people enter. But was happy to see who it was.
"Should I bow?" I hear Pyrrha ask next to me.
"Yea. She is very traditional." I told Pyrrha and turned back to Granny Lee who was approaching us.
"Good to see you again young man."
"Good to see you as well Granny Lee."
"Ma'am." Pyrrha next to me stepped in front of me and took a bow to her. But then I saw Granny Lee pull out a cane from one of her sleeves and took a swing.
BONK!
"FUCK!" I begin to rub my head.
"The first one is free. The second one is a strong one." She told me as she put her cane away and turned to Pyrrha, "You do not need to bow, we don't do that here."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Don't be, please go take a seat and please keep your weapons away."
We decided to take our seats by the back of the restaurant. Once we did we began to talk about what just happened.
"So is that?"
"Yeah it's normal, saw it yesterday and it was way funnier when it happened to the others," I told her while I kept rubbing my head.
God, she is way stronger than I first thought.
So here we were in Granny Lee's Tea House just enjoying our time, talking, eating, and reminiscing about the time we had, and how in just a few months things would change. It's scary to think that we are so close to becoming huntsman in training and will be attending Beacon soon. Will we be on the same team? Will we meet new people? Or will we become separated by all the new experiences that we will see?
Well, only time will tell. And the future is a mystery to all of us.
...
...
...
You know, now that I think about it, it almost looks like we are on a-
"Yo Seth! We just arrived!" I turned and saw Bolin at the entrance of the building with Reese and-
'Oh, you have got to be kidding me.'
With them, I saw Arslan standing next to them and once she saw me I just knew this was going to get annoying fast.
"You called them?" Pyrrha ask.
"I thought we could use the company. But I was not expecting her to show up with them." I looked at Pyrrha, "Sorry." and apologies.
"No... it's fine Seth the more the merrier, hehe."
We see them come close to us and before we can all greet each other Arslan is already heading my way.
Oh boy.
"So when should we start?"
Son of a. It's fine. It's fine.
"Later, let's just relax for now, and then we can fight."
It takes her a moment but eventually, "Very well." She turns and looks at Pyrrha and nods to her and Pyrrha just waves her hand to her. She then begins to walk away and head toward her Grandmother.
Sigh... Disaster avoided for now.
I turn and See Bolin and Reese take a seat in front of me, meanwhile, Pyrrha decides to move and sit next to me.
I turn to Bolin "So why did you bring her?"
He begins to rub his neck and looks away from me, "Well she kind of overheard me talking about how you invited us here and decided to accompany us here. Whoops."
...
...
...
'God damn it, Bolin.'
After a good while, Granny Lee came to our table and took their order and we continued to eat and talk. But one strange thing that did happen was after their food had arrived courtesy of Arslan.
Arslan brought her own food and sat with us to eat. Now don't get me wrong nothing wrong with that, but she was sitting really close to me for some reason. And it was what was happening around me that was getting really weird. And it all started with something that Bolin said.
"Reese I think this is going to be my new favorite show."
"I wonder how many seasons we are going to get of this?"
What the hell are they talking about? I turned to see Pyrrha's reaction and for some reason, she was trying her best to eat and act normal, but she was sitting really close to me as well. The same could be said about Arslan, she was scooting really close to me as well now.
Where have I seen this before?
I think having two people this close to me was really getting to me because I really don't like close spaces. This is also the reason I never liked crowded places. So I had to excuse myself.
"Um... I need to make a call. I'll be back!" With that, I drop under the table and roll out of it making me feel more comfortable than I was originally was.
I grab my scroll and step outside of Granny Lee's restaurant.
"Okay, it's already past ten so I'm sure Qrow should be good by this time."
Well, here we go.
I press on his number and put my scroll on my ear.
...
...
...
...
...
...
'We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service.'
...
...
...
I hung up and tried again.
'We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service'
I try again.
'We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or-'
I hung up and tried again.
'We're sorry, you have-'
I tried and tried again but I had no idea how much time had passed.
This could be the wrong number he gave me. He could have changed his number a long time ago. This was my last chance. And now it's gone. No there has to be another way. Maybe someone I know... Okay, scratch that.
"Seth is everything okay? You have been gone for a good ten minutes." I heard behind me Pyrrha's voice but I didn't turn around.
...
...
...
"Seth?"
"I failed," I said with a low voice.
"What?"
"My last chance... I failed. I won't be able to go this year to an Academy."
