*-Rudeus-*
It had been 1 month since Aurora and Cyrus were born. I had gotten Phoebe's permission to give Aurora one of the Minikyus and with Aurora's permission I revealed to Phoebe about Aurora being a reincarnate. Aurora wears the Minikyu 24/7, and Phoebe promised to make her a full fledged Kumu for her fifth birthday. Aurora wanted to keep her reincarnation a secret from the others so we didn't tell anyone else, but she said that we could tell the other reincarnates. When mom or the others asked about the Minikyu I told them it was to help me monitor Aurora's anxiety, and help prevent her little episodes.
I had also been practicing making ambient magic into physical material, and made myself some clothes. I had a turquoise coat and pants, with a cyan shirt that matched Yo. The coat had 4 pockets. 2 coat pockets in regular position where you would see any other coat pockets, and 2 pockets above those. There were also pockets on the inside of the coat.
Also the pockets were all bigger on the inside than outside. The outside pockets were 3x larger inside, and the inside pockets were 5x larger inside. I hadn't managed to make a storage dimension, so I was having to settle for making the inside of my pockets bigger.
That wasn't the only thing I was practicing though. I was trying to better understand how my eyes function. My eyes were black instead of white and the irises were purple and cyan. The pupils were gold. Whenever I used my eyes for magic different parts would glow. When I used soul seeing magic the cyan iris glowed, when I used space magic the purple iris glowed, and when I used them for healing magic the gold pupils glowed.
The eyes weren't particular good at healing on their own, but if I used them and a healing spell at the same time the healing output increased. If I added Ko to the equation then a beginner healing spell could hold the strength of an intermediate level healing spell the way mom described them. Enough to cure life threatening wounds. It also didn't seem to be limited to healing magic. I could use it on the wood in the house, and sprout branches with flowers on them. I decided to refer to it as life magic. According to mom they seemed to always be glowing. I tried to figure out why and realized that I was constantly leaking life magic around me. This caused the ground around our house to be extra fertile... as well as the women. After some trial and error I managed to get it under control.
I still couldn't understand why the healing spells I cast were so ineffective. Mom said that intermediate level healing spells could heal life threatening wounds, but when I cast them they barely worked on mom and Cyrus.
I had just placed Aurora down in her crib, since she fell asleep, when mom knocked on the door. I opened it and put my finger over my lips, and pointed to Aurora. She nodded and moved aside so I could leave the room.
"Rudy, your father and I want to talk to you about something. It's not like you're in trouble or anything, but it's rather important."
"Yes ma'am."
Mom led me downstairs and sat at the table next to dad. I sat across from them and watched as they glanced between each other. Mom started the conversation.
"So Rudy, you really like magic, yes?"
"Mhmm! It's one of my favorite things."
"Well your father and I have been talking, and since you've shown magical talent. We were wondering if you'd be interested in having a magic tutor?"
I was gonna answer mom, but dad quickly butted in.
"What do you think of swordsmanship, Rudy?"
"Swordsmanship? I find it interesting if that's what you mean. Even if I have Ko acting as my leg I won't be able to utilize sword skills properly though. But it would also be useful to know the skills and how they work, so that if someone used them against me in battle I could think of ways to counter them."
"I see. Well as Zenny said we've been talking, and will get you a magic tutor. If! You do these three things. You learn swordsmanship, even if you yourself can't use it, you continue to help with your little siblings, and you help your mother with work at the clinic. Magic tutors are expensive, and with the birth of twins Zenny hasn't been able to do full days of work. Because of this some of my guards have been unable to complete certain tasks because of injuries that they couldn't get healed. Do these three things and we'll get you a magic tutor."
I could feel my eyes shine as I got excited.
"So your telling me that to get a magic tutor all I have to do is learn sword skills, spend time with my siblings, and get hands on experience working as a healer? Yes please!"
Paul raised his eyebrows, and mom smiled smugly.
"See? Told you he'd like the idea."
"Yeah yeah."
Mom clapped her hands together and looked at dad.
"Now! When should we go put in the request! We gotta leave as soon as possible right?!"
"Woah Zenny calm down! I'll put in the request when I go do my monthly report. That's in two days."
Mom was hugging dad and smiled as she giggled to herself.
"So when do I start helping mom at the clinic? And what about Aurora? She won't like being separated from me for a majority of the day. Is it safe to bring her to the clinic?"
Mom and dad separated and whispered to each other. They both nodded and mom spoke up.
"She will come with us to the clinic. The only things there that could hurt her are kept in the storeroom, and besides. We've got Yo and Ko to help watch her when we're busy."
"True. So when do I start?"
"How about tomorrow?"
"Sounds good!"
For the rest of the day mom and I spoke about what I'd be doing while at the clinic. She said this would be a way to help her and practice my healing magic at the same time. She said something was wrong, because the spell I used to heal her and Cyrus was supposed to be strong enough to cure life threatening wounds, and yet each time I used it the spell only healed the wound a tiny bit.
When mom told me about pay I felt bad about doing her job and taking her money. Eventually we came to the agreement that I would keep half the payment for any work I did. I wanted her to have it all, but then she went on about child labor and I gave up.
The next day I had Yo carry Aurora like a floating stroller, and mom and I left for the clinic right after breakfast. We didn't pass by a lot of people, but the few we did gave Aurora and I odd looks. Mom would introduce us to them, and they'd immediately swap from "What the heck is that" to "Good day my Liege" mode.
Once we arrived she gave me a tour to let me see the layout of the place. There were two entrances. The front door was kept unlocked anytime the store was open, and the back door could only be opened by a key that only mom had. The front door led into a reception area where people would wait to be checked on, and the back door led into mom's office which doubled as the storeroom.
Beside the counter in the reception area was a door that led to a hallway. On the right side of the hallway was three doors. Each led to a small bedroom with a bed, a nightstand, and a chair. The rooms were meant for patients who were in to bad of a condition to go home. Like an injury to bad for mom to heal, or a sickness she couldn't heal with detoxification magic.
Two doors were on the right side of the hallway. One led to a nicely sized room with a large chair in the middle. I was shocked to see that the chair could be turned and even laid back. That was the patient's chair and 3 other chairs lined the wall by the door.
The other door led to a small bathroom. It was that simple, nothing special.
At the end of the hallway was a door which let to mom's office/storeroom. Inside was a desk with a small amount of paper on top, and the other side of the room was lined with shelves of herbs. It also held a large bronze contraption that kind of looked like a boiler or furnace. Mom said that it was something called a magical implement. It used dead herbs to keep the clinic at the perfect temperature for the herbs on the shelves to not die out. I thought that something like that must have been expensive and it was apparently the only thing mom bought for this clinic was the magic implement.
Whenever mom and dad first moved here an old man came and talked to mom. He was the village healer, but he was dying of an unknown illness. His wife and children had been killed in a monster attack during a hunting trip, so he had no one to pass his clinic to. Not wanting the place to be torn down, and knowing how important being a healer was to Buena, the man gave mom the clinic for free. All the furniture and things came with it as well, so all mom had to do was pay a merchant in Roa to get her the boiler. It cost most of her adventuring money but she says it's worth it.
Mom took inventory of the herbs and threw the dead ones into the boiler. We sat down behind the counter.
"So now we wait until we receive customers."
"What do we do while we wait?"
"Well normally I just sit here and twiddle my thumbs, but now I have Rudy to keep me company. What do you wanna talk about?"
Mom rested her chin in her hands, and smiled at me.
"Hmm. What injuries do you think we'll be seeing most?"
"Around this time of year? Since it's harvest season we should expect accidents with farming equipment, or creature attacks. Since a lot of crops are being moved monsters and wild animals are gonna attack carriages and farmers. Then there's always the chance of a soldier or guard getting injured on patrol."
"I see. What are the prices for healing services?"
"It's 1 large copper for a beginner level spell, and 2 large coppers for an intermediate level spell. Overnight stays are 1 large copper per night, and each herb that we sell has its own price, but we only sell herbs whenever we overbuy, or if a customer is bedridden and unable to leave their home to come here."
As mom finished her explanation I saw 2 souls approaching the clinic. I focused my sight and saw one was older, somewhere in his late 60s, and the other was about midway through their teens, so 15 or 16. The younger one's soul was flickering indicating that they was injured.
"Two customers. One injured. They'll be here in about 10 seconds."
"Rudy we just opened up. The farmers have barely gotten into the field, so I'm afraid you'll have wait a bit longer for some business."
The front fort opened to show a boy with a gash in his leg. Both him and the old man helping him were wearing overalls.
"Davey, and Mr.Tortimer? What happened? Please this way. Come Rudy."
Mom opened the hall door and the old guy started explaining what happened.
"Well since it's the first harvest season that Davey and Teresa are old enough to participate in, we were plannin to start bright 'n early. We were gonna get to Roa before the other farmers and let the kids keep their share of any crops they could sell. Unfortunately Teresa was a bit too excited and swung her scythe a bit too wide. She caught Davey right in his leg."
"I told you Pa. She's to crazy to be wieldin' somethin' that sharp."
Both spoke with what would've been called a southern drawl back on Earth.
"Now let's see."
Mom slowly folded up Davey's pant leg and examined the wound.
"Well that's good. The overalls made it look much worse. It's a clean cut, and not deep enough to leave any lasting damage. The overalls soaked up the blood so the wound looked larger the it was."
Mom looked up and smiled at the boy.
"Say. Davey? Would you be okay with it if my son were to try and cure your wound? He's been practicing healing magic, and I was hoping he'd be able get some experience working here."
Davey looked at me and grinned.
"So long as I get patched up I don't care. Show me what ya got little man."
I walked over and placed my hands near the wound. Mom knelt down and started whispering instructions to me.
"Now this is a small wound so you're gonna want to use a beginner level spell. As you say the incantation try to imagine the wound healing and closing. Got it?"
"Yes ma'am. Let this divine power be as satisfying nourishment, giving one who has lost their strength the strength to rise again! Healing!"
I saw the veins in the palm of my hand glow red, and green light shined from my hands, but I could see that the light was much dimmer than when I healed Mom and Cyrus. Unlike that time however Davey's wound closed over and healed completely. He didn't even have a scar. Before when I was healing Mom and Cyrus I didn't have a clear picture of what I wanted the spell to do. I was so focused on getting the incantation right, and making sure nothing happened to make the wounds worse. Even after I started using the spell silently I was too focused on not passing out to get a clear image on what I wanted. I tried casting silently later, but I wasn't able to recreate it.
"Well would ya lookie here. Seems Buena's gotten itself another certified healer, 'ey? 1 large copper right?"
Mom smiled as she nodded to Mr.Tortimer. Davey was moving his leg and foot and was smiling and laughing as he saw the wound was completely gone.
"Little squirts more like a tidal wave!"
"You got that right."
Mr.Tortimer reached into his breast pocket and pulled out 1 large copper piece and 4 small copper pieces.
"The extras a tip since he's little. Gotta give kids encouragement to work nowadays!"
I smiled and put the coins into my bottom right pocket.
"Thank you very much Mr.Tortimer!"
"No prob kiddo."
"Goodbye, Mrs.Zenith!"
Mr.Tortimer and Davey left with a wave and mom and I sat back down at the counter. I reached into my pocket and stared at the coins trying to figure out how to give mom half. Seemingly reading my mind mom spoke up, and provided an answer for my predicament.
"Keep the money for now, and you can give me your half at the end of the day. You know Rudy, most kids would be eager to keep that money. Why are you so keen in giving me some of it?"
"Well I was supposed to help you with your job to help you get more money, but if I took the money then it's like I'm taking your money, and that's not good."
"I suppose I can see where your coming from."
I looked over and could see that Aurora had ended up falling asleep.
Mom was happy that I was here to keep her company, and was also happy being able to give me tips on healing magic.
Mom was happy, and I'll do anything I can to keep her happy.
We were starting to close up after working all day. Lilia dropped by with Cyrus earlier on and gave us lunches. Mom was currently checking the herbs and making sure there were no pests in the building.
Mom split the money she made between her money and the clinic's money. She kept 60% of it since the clinic didn't usually require a lot of maintenance. The boiler fed on the dead herbs, and mom grew most of those herself. The furniture and overall structure was well put together as well, so it was rare for things to break.
I was counting and splitting mom's money out for her while she did inventory. About halfway through the day I tried to cast the spells silently like I did during the twins' birth. I failed before, but I was better rested, and had more experience with the spells this time. It took some time, but I managed to do it. Right after a bunch of injured guards showed up.
Counting Davey we had 17 customers today. Mom said it was because she had been closing earlier than normal, so some of today's customer were waiting for one or two days because they missed the times she was open. Mom treated 11 of the patients and I treated 6. Mom used 5 intermediate level spells and 7 beginner level spells. She ate what looked like tiny glowing crystals halfway through the day. When I asked what they were she said that they were mana crystals. They are made in monsters when they die, and their mana gathers and hardens in their chests. By eating a mana crystal a person could refuel on mana if they were low. They were rare and expensive though, so she only had a very small amount, and only ate some when she was just about to run out of mana. That explained why she would come home tired on especially busy days. She was refueling her mana pool, but wasn't giving her body any rest.
Most of the patients mom took were injured by a monster called a terminate boar. It was a kind of monster that formed when a boar soaked in the forests dense mana long enough. This one had duel wielded trees like clubs, and the guards couldn't beat it until dad showed up and killed it. Mom let me heal the guards with minor injuries. I didn't like the way one of the guards was looking at her though. When he was all healed up he tried getting mom to lower the price. He had some nasty injuries that required 2 intermediate level spells to fix, and when mom refused he laid his arm over her shoulder. When I told him to stop he scowled me. I could see that mom was uncomfortable, and so were the rest of the people in the room. I took care of him.
Most of the other soldiers even gave me tips. They called me a cute little mascot.
'Sorry, do I look like T*ny T*ny Ch*pper to you?'
Mom ended up making 17 large coppers, and I made 6 large coppers on spells and 8 small coppers in tips. I wrote down mom's amount, and the clinic's amount on the paper she gave me. It was a bit messy, but you could read it easy enough.
Dad came through the front door and waved at me.
"Heya Rudy! How's your first day at the clinic?"
I split my half with mom's money. I put the two coin stacks into two bags, and put one in a locked box under the counter.
"It was great! Mom gave me a tip on where I went wrong with my healing spells before, and now they work like normal. I can even cast them silently now!"
"Silent casting? I didn't know that was possible."
"Mom didn't either. She was pretty shocked when I healed all my guard patients without saying a word."
Dad nodded and then looked at me sternly.
"Say. There was one guy who came back from the clinic complaining about getting beat up by a kid. When I asked some of the other men who were with him they said that he tried to pull something at the clinic, and that the kid there beat the crap out of him. What's that about?"
"Oh. That guy. He was upset about the price for his healing, and when mom refused to change the price he started touching her. Sooooo. I used Yo, Ko, Space magic, and Life magic to hold him in the air, squeeze him, crush him, and temporarily turn him into a flower, because I can do that apparently. He payed and didn't complain."
Paul started looking angry.
"He touched Zenith?"
"Yep."
"How?"
"He laid his hand over her shoulder and started sweet talking her, and it made her uncomfortable. So I dealt with him."
"Riiiight. Well if he tries making trouble again don't let him off to easy. No one messes with Zenny and gets away."
"Agreed."
Dad and I smiled to each other, and mom came in from the back holding a small paper.
"Alright. We still have enough herbs, so we don't need to buy any, and the ones we have shouldn't die for at least 4 days. The clinic opens every other day, so I don't have work tomorrow. How about we go to Roa together to put in that request for the tutor?"
Mom smiled as she looked at dad. He simply nodded back.
"Yep. Once he starts learning magic I'll start teaching him sword skills as well!" Dad proclaimed and stuck his thumb at himself.
"Alright. Now let's get home. I want to see my little Cy!"
'So they'll be leaving tomorrow for Roa. I was tempted to ask if I could go as well, but I didn't want to leave the babies alone with Lilia. It wasn't that I didn't trust her. I'm sure she's up to the task. It's just that Aurora isn't old enough to travel right now, and if we were separated she'd fall back into constant crying. I didn't want Lilia to be stressed out by that.'
"We'll be back tomorrow evening. Love you Rudy! And you to Cyrus and Aurora!"
Mom knelt down and pecked my cheek. She did the same for Aurora, who was being held by me, and Cyrus, who was being held by Lilia.
"See y'all later!"
Dad waved as he loaded a bag onto the cart. Apparently he had saved up some monster parts from the terminate boars and other monsters that showed up in the forest, and was gonna sell them on this trip, while mom wrote out the tutor request at the guild.
"Be safe!"
I waved out as they started riding away. Looks like it's just me, Aurora, Cyrus, and Lilia for a day. Mom was worried about the babies food, so we ended up making bottles. Well I made the bottles out of magic, and then made a box that was always cold so the milk wouldn't expire. I also made a hot box so that we could heat them up when it was time to eat. She only provided the milk, but that was the most important part.
The boxes sat in the corner of the kitchen. Cyrus looked a bit sad as mom and dad left. I walked over and booped his nose. I spoke to him in Japanese.
"Don't worry. They'll be back soon."
He looked at me for a second, then looked at Lilia, or should I be specific and say her breasts. And then reached down towards me. I had Yo cover my arms so I'd be strong enough to hold each baby with one hand. I also used gravity magic to make them lighter.
"Well it seems that the twins are quite fond of you Young Master."
"Ya know you could just call me Rudeus."
Lilia shook her head. "That would be rather unprofessional of me. I'm afraid I can't."
"But you call Pin by her name." I huffed as I said my statement.
"She is not my master's child."
"There's no winning this is there."
"Unless you order me to, I'm afraid not Young Master."
I sighed.
"Fine. Im gonna go to the living room and play with the twins."
"Alright. I do hope you mean to use different toys. I believe that the ones you used to use would be rather dangerous."
"Of course I'm gonna- Were you poking fun at me?"
Lilia turned away and cover her mouth. I could barely see a smile behind her fingers.
"Why of course not Young Master. That would be highly unprofessional."
"What ever you say."
I went and sat on the floor in the living room. I had Yo and Ko move and inflate. I made them into bean bag chairs to lay my siblings on. As I sat the babies down I heard Aurora's voice in my head.
'What were you guys talking about?'
'I was trying to convince Lilia to call me by my name instead of Young Master.'
'She actually calls you Young Master?'
'It's a part of her duty as a maid.'
'Huh. Weird.'
'To each their own.'
"Bah!"
As Aurora and I had our silent conversation Cyrus popped in. He was raising his hands and was making circles in the air.
'Well I'm tired. I couldn't get any sleep last night because of Zenith and Paul's "session" last night, so I'm gonna nap.'
'Nighty night!'
'Night.'
As Aurora drifted off to sleep I pulled a Minikyu out of my pocket. I had gotten Aurora's help before hand to activate it without tying it to an owner. I held my hand out for Cyrus and he looked at me silently. He slowly reached his hand out and gave it to me. I slid the Minikyu onto his hand and it shrunk down to fit him.
'Yo! Can you hear me Cyrus?'
'Is that you? Dude with white hair and weird eyes?'
'Well yes it is. And also that's a rather rude way to address your big brother. Well little brother depending on how you look at it.'
'Huh? What do you mean little? And is this telepathy? How strong are you?! As if you needed more OP abilities!'
'Well the telepathy isn't really my ability. It's the Minikyu on your arm that's letting us talk telepathically.'
'Like the one my twin has? Is she a reincarnate to?'
Aurora didn't want anyone else knowing about her reincarnation. I was allowed to tell Phoebe, Raion, Pin, and Kuroi, but that was only because they were my close friends and fellow reincarnates.
'No. It's letting me watch her anxiety and fear levels. The person who makes Minikyus and Kumus is a master in fear magic. Aurora has one to help me be there before she starts having one of her episodes.'
'I see. And what is a Kumu?'
'A living thing made out of fear. It's a sentient weapon that can also be like a pet. They can change shape and size. Minikyus aren't sentient, and can only change size by small amounts. You can also use Kumus to send messages or call each other.'
'Really? Sounds pretty strong.'
'They are. Especially when their creator uses them.'
'And whose that?'
'One of my friends.'
'Was it the one with the red hair that showed up and gave mom blood?'
'No that's Raion. He's an expert in blood magic. Phoebe is the one who makes Kumu.'
'Neat. Got any more crazy powerful friends?'
'The only other two are Pin and Kuroi. They recently became gods, so they're training to learn what all they can do now.'
'Gods. You're friends with gods?'
'Yep.'
'So you've gotta be like crazy powerful, right?'
'I mean I don't know where my magic level would scale in this world, but in the old one I was being trained to become a god. In fear of losing their power some of the other gods rose up and killed me and my friends before we gained our titles. Pin and Kuroi still got theirs because their teacher was a double agent.'
'So there were five of you, and you were all killed. Did you have a leader?'
'Right before we entered the room we died in we held a vote for who would be the leader.'
'Wait wait wait. Let me guess. You won?'
'It was the shortest vote I'd ever seen. They all voted for me. Said I was the strongest. We saw what good that did us.'
'The strongest... Big brother? Please teach me magic?!'
I looked a little shocked as I looked at Cyrus. His hands were balled into fists, and his eyes were sparkling. It almost gave the illusion that he too had magic eyes, but as someone who used to have literal stars in their eyes I knew it was just him being excited.
'I'll teach you, but you're gonna need to grow older first. For this world's magic you need to speak an incantation before you can cast it silently, and for Earth's magic you need a lot of mana. But I think I can help you train up your mana pool for now.'
'Really! Okay how do I do it?!'
I took his hand and let out some mana. I imagined them as fishing lines pulling fish towards them. I saw my veins glow red and small purple lines of mana drifted out of my fingers. They reached into his hand and pulled out a small red blob. It was tiny, almost microscopic. It was about a quarter of Cyrus's mana.
'What was that?'
'I pulled out some of your mana. Try recreating the feeling. By draining your mana pool it will have grown in size the next day. Try to keep some extra for now. At night when mom and dad start their activities you can expose of the last bit of your mana and pass out, so you don't have to listen.'
'I see. I'll keep that in mind.'
Cyrus held his hand out, and started shaking. His face grew wrinkled with concentration, and I saw two white balls float away from his hand. They were bigger than the microscopic ball I took, but the mana was far less compact and was leaking into the air. They were about the size of a baseball. The small orb I took still wielded the same amount of mana as before and hadn't leaked at all.
'I think I did it? It didn't feel the same as when you helped though.'
'You did it. It's just that I compacted the mana down to a microscopic level. When you did it the mana started leaking and was larger in its area size.'
'Microscopic? And how'd you do that?'
'Well I... I just... How do I put this without you being able to seeing it? I could try and see if I can alter the Minikyu, but I'm gonna need Phoebe's permission for that. Do you want to keep your reincarnation a secret from the others or would you rather me not tell anyone?'
'Honestly? I didn't live a real good life before. I wasted it away locked in a room, and I'd rather it be left unknown. If you're saying that letting them know that I was reincarnated would help my magic studies though...'
'I could only tell Phoebe if you want. And I would only tell her that you were reincarnated, I wouldn't give her the specifics. If I get her permission to experiment on a Minikyu then I can try to make that one let you see mana. I just don't know how long that'll take.'
'Okay. And you trust her?'
'I've trusted her with my life and with my deepest secrets. There is no one I trust more than Phoebe.'
'Alright, you can tell her, but no one else. Please.'
'Alright give me a sec.'
I cut my link with Cyrus and removed his Minikyu. I mentally reached out and called to Phoebe.
'You called?'
'Yep. So I'm gonna get straight to the point. Turns out my other little sibling, Cyrus, is also a reincarnate. Please don't tell the others, he doesn't want anyone to know. I was wondering if I could get your permission to maybe try and experiment on a Minikyu? I'd pay you back of course.'
'Alright. How much?'
'I'll give you a favor.'
'Deal!' As soon as I finished my statement Phoebe answered.
'Also. Any discoveries you make I want you to report them to me. I made the Minikyu after all.'
'Well of course. Thank you very much Phoebe. I assume you remember the rules of a favor?'
'Of course. Can't bring back the dead and you can't change people mentally. Other than that there are no limits. Correct?'
'Correct. I know I've said it a lot, but I truly mean it. Thank you Phoebe.'
'Your welcome. Now why don't you go. Wouldn't want to keep your little brother waiting, would you?'
'Alrighty. See you later!'
'Talk to you later.'
I cut my line with Phoebe and looked back at the Minikyu in my hand. I started floating up and it hovered above my hand. I started examining everything about the Minikyu. How it's mana flowed, how it had lines of mana constantly feeling around itself to absorb ambient mana, and how it fed that mana to its "battery."
I started tinkering. Putting space mana here, shifting fear mana a little here, overloading the battery with life mana, and eventually I got the Minikyu 2.0. Though it was hard to call it a Minikyu anymore since it was more like a small Kumu. But it wasn't like a Kumu either. It had its spherical shape, but it kept shifting. Like it was trying to take a different shape. I looked towards Cyrus who had a face full of eagerness as he looked towards me. Well I could only assume it was eagerness. He was still a baby. I noticed out the window that it had been at least a few hours.
I held out my hand and the small Kumu descended towards him.
*-Cyrus-*
My big brother held his hand out to me and the tiny slime floated towards me. I reached up and it sat in my hand.
'What form shall you give me, master?'
A feminine voice rang through my head as the slime looked at me.
'Um... is this the slime?'
'The Kumu, but yes. Master what form shall I take?'
'What forms can you take? I thought my brother said you can't change much except a little bit of size manipulation?'
'The life giver has given me much mana to work with. Extraordinary magics like this are foreign to our kind, since our creator isn't well versed in space and life magics. We can boost the powers of the spells they cast, but casting them on our own is nigh impossible. When we do it is nothing more than a speck of what our masters are capable of, but now it could be possible to grow on our own. If you wish I can take the shape of an animal, or even a more humanoid appearance if you wish. My form can be changed to whatever you wish, however the life giver asks that you make it discreet so that the others of this household are left unaware of my existence.'
Discreet huh?' Well there goes my hope for a subservient waifu.
'How about a cat?'
The 'Kumu' shifted and became the size of a kitten. I looked up towards my brother and saw him staring into space the same way he was earlier. He was probably talking with that Phoebe lady he mentioned. He glanced down and smiled at the kitten. He reached down and pet its ears, and then he waved his hand and the light around us rippled. It closed into his palm and became a small clear marble. He held it in front of the Kumu and it absorbed it.
'The life giver gives me more gifts! What a joyous day this is. Given life, a master to serve, and even more gifts of magic! I am truly living the best life that one could wish for!'
'Um. What did he give you?'
'He fed me an invisibility spell. I can now choose who can and can't see me, however no matter what since you are my master you can see me, since he is the one who cast the spell he can see me, and my creator shall also be able to see me.'
'So you won't be seen by my twin, or by the maid?'
'Correct. I can tell you everyone's names if you wish. I have access to the knowledge of the life giver and my creator.'
'Sure. Lay them on me.'
'Your mother's name is Zenith, your father is Paul, the maid is Lilia, your twin is Aurora, your brother is Rudeus, and you are named Cyrus. Those are the names of everyone who lives in this household.'
'Zenith, Paul, Lilia, Aurora, and Rudeus ey? Certainly some odd names. Well except for Paul. That's a pretty regular human name. And I guess Lilia too.'
I was mulling over what the Kumu told me when I suddenly heard Rudeus's voice.
'So. Have you named her yet?'
'Gah! Some warning before you pop in like that.'
'Sorry.'
'It's fine. But no I haven't named them yet.'
'I see. Well mom and dad are gonna be in for a shock when they get back.'
'Why's that?'
'After I told Phoebe about what happened to the Minikyu she decided to come here immediately and see it for herself.'
'Oh? So we get to meet Phoebe?'
'The creator is coming?!'
'Yep. You sound quite chipper little lady.'
He reached down and pet behind her ears again. Yeah I'd have to make her into a cat girl at some point.
'How long until Phoebe gets here?'
'I'd say maybe... 6 or 7 hours. She should be here before dinner actually. I'll need to inform Lilia to make extra food.'
Rudeus floated upwards and went upstairs. Since we were speaking telepathically we continued our conversation.
'Got any recommendations? I've never been that good at naming things.'
'Hmmm. Do you intend to stick with a feline theme?'
Absolutely!
'Yeah.'
'How abooooout, Tora?'
'Isn't that "Tiger" in Japanese? Won't others get suspicious?'
'We'll just say that I named her. Easy peasy. Besides it's not that bad of a name. Is it?'
'No no. It's good. I was just worried about my cover being blown.'
'Alright B*tman. So Tora? You like it?'
Tora started jumping around me. As in they were jumping on the air above me.
'My master and life giver have given me a name?! I'm so happy!'
'That's enough to make them happy?'
'Well think of it this way. There are only two other Kumu with real names. Mine which is Yoko, and Phoebe's which is Akumu. Ugh. Where is Lilia? I can't find her-... I'll be back in a second. Kay?'
'Um okay. I'm gonna play with Tora I guess.

I waited in the hallway as Lilia wrapped up her business. Why did I feel so inclined to watch? I'm not particularly interested in that kind of stuff so why was it so... intriguing? I looked down at my right arm as I felt heat course through my hand.
As if it were carved into my hand, the symbol of lust shined against my hand. It was his influence. Asmodius. It's said that being in a sin's domain can make you more susceptible to its influence. But the effects were unknown for when you interacted with a sin directly. No one was brave enough to try, and those who did often died. Except for one man that is. Ares.
The man who fought with the sin of wrath for 10 years straight. His body grew and his mind slowly dissipated. That is until he was pulled from his rage by a certain goddess of beauty. With Aphrodites' help Ares was able to control his rage and turn it into strength. Earning him the title god of war.
I was in constant mental contact with Asmodius for 3 months. It seems that now it started taking its effects. I wandered around the hall until Lilia exited my parents bedroom.
She widened her eyes for a second when she saw me, but instantly put her stoic mask back on. She was holding the sheets and blanket to my parents' bed, and just under her hand I could see a wet spot she was trying to hide.
"What can I do for you Young Master?"
"Ah right." FOCUS! "Phoebe and Mars shall be joining us for dinner. I made a breakthrough with a Minikyu so she's coming over to experiment with me, and Mars has to come since that's the only way the king will allow Phoebe to leave the capitol."
"Alright. I shall make the necessary preparations. Will they be staying here?"
"They cleared it with Raion, so Mars is going to be staying in Roa like he did before, but Phoebe was wondering if she could stay here."
"Of course. The guest room shall be ready for when she arrives."
"Actual would it be okay to have the blankets brought to the living room? We need space, and likely won't fall asleep until we pass out from mana exhaustion."
"It will be done."
"Thank you. Ah! Sorry for holding you up. Here let me help some."
I pointed and made the blanket and sheets much lighter.
"Thank you Young Master. This will help greatly."
"No problem, but you should hurry. That's only going to last for about five minutes."
"I see. Well thank you."
I moved to the edge of the wall, and Lilia walked past me. She brought the sheets outside and started washing them.
I went back downstairs and checked on Cyrus and Aurora. I knew Aurora was still asleep since her anxiety levels would've risen without me being there when she woke up, so really it was just to check on Cyrus. I saw that he was waving his hands around and Tora was floating around him.
'Seems your having fun.'
Cyrus turned over in his bean bag and looked at me.
'Yeah. Torah's awesome! Thank you, for helping me like this. I was a bit worried having a brother again. I didn't exactly get along with my previous ones.'
'Well I'm happy to help. And if you ever wanna chat with someone I'm always available. Well maybe not always. I'll be getting a magic tutor soon, and I'll still be helping mom with the clinic, and I'll be learning sword skills from dad, so I'm actually gonna be really busy.'
'You busy right now?'
'Not really.'
'Wanna see what Tora can do?'
'Absolutely!'
With a grin I sat next to Cyrus and we started theorizing and testing everything Tora could do.
About 7 hours later when Lilia was preparing dinner there was a knock on the door. Both Phoebe and Mars had arrived, and Phoebe immediately dragged me to the living room, and started quizzing me on what I did to Tora. I told her of course, that was the deal. Shortly after the explanation was given we started experimenting on real Kumu. We started with a spare we had on hand.
"So you used space magic here, and then life in the core?"
"Yeah." I put my hand over the Kumu's core and filled it with life magic. It rose and slowly molded itself into different forms.
"Um. Let's see. The Minikyu did the same thing soooo. Be a cat."
The Kumu shifted and grew legs and a tail. It grew ears and whiskers and it's fur puffed out of its body.
'Greetings creator. Greetings life giver. I am overjoyed to have been created by you today.'
Unlike Cyrus's Minikyu, which sounded feminine, this one sounded more masculine and refined. Like an old butler of sorts.
'Well doesn't he sound like a refined gentlemen.'
'Fascinating. So this is what your life magic can do. Now what to name him. Alfred?'
'Hmmm. Walter?'
'We're both just gonna think of cartoon or anime butlers aren't we?'
'Probably. We could let him choose.'
'True. Alright Mr.No Name what do you want your name to be?'
'Your truly allowing me to name myself? I'm honored. If I may, I am quite the fan of the name Edmund.'
'Edmund? Nice.'
'Classy! Edmund it is.'
Phoebe started petting Edmund.
'So what do we do? I assume we're going to do this operation on our Kumu, but I don't want to just leave him now that he's gained true knowledge.'
'Mmmm. We could give him to Aurora.'
I looked over at Cyrus who had fallen asleep during our tests. Just as I did for his I shifted the light around us and shifted it into an invisibility spell, and fed it to Edmund.
'Alright well that solves that. Know, Yoko or Akumu next?'
"Ms.Phoebe. Young Master. Dinner is ready."
'Food next!'
'Always a glutton.'
After dinner Phoebe and I started the operation on Akumu.
After the operation Akumu melted and Phoebe was deciding on what form to give Akumu.
I'm the end Akumu morphed into a small girl with bandages covering the top half of her face. Her skin was as pale as snow. She wore pink robes decorated with Sakura petals, and had long black hair. Removing the bandages revealed multiple bright pink eyes.
"I give you the new name Yuki. How do you feel?"
'I feel wonderful creator. I am eternally grateful to you and life giver. I pray for your success.'
Phoebe waved her hands and got a slight blush on her face. Yuki looked confused and then seemed to realize something.
"Gah! Now hold on a sec!"
'Sorry master. It seems I overstepped my boundaries.'
"It's fine just... don't. Okay."
'Understood.'
"Thorn think you could do the invisibility thing, please?"
"Sure."
The invisibility spell was something I tried out of pure curiosity for Tora. I wasn't sure it would work, but in the end it worked like a charm.
Just as before I gave Yuki an invisibility spell.
"Then there was one. Well two technically, but you know what I mean."
"Yep. You ready Yoko?"
Yoko floated over and plopped down beside me. While Phoebe was picking Yuki's new form I had Yoko put the twins in their cradles. Aurora's had been moved down here to avoid any late night cry sessions, and Mars used his own Kumu to travel to Roa after dinner.
"Let's do this."
After careful crafting and introducing space and life magic into Yoko. It started rippling just as the others had.
'Hello master. Giver of life. Which form shall I take to best suit your needs?'
Yoko definitely sounded like the sly type. Like everything they said had an extra meaning. Like someone pulling a prank on you and you didn't know it yet. They were mischievous, and I knew just the form to fit that.
'How about a nine tailed fox? Like the Kitsune from Japanese mythology.'
Yoko spun like a wheel and popped like a balloon. Though despite the fact that it should've been loud, there was no sound when the bubble popped.
"So how do I look?"
Standing before Phoebe and I was a 6 foot tall humanoid nine tailed fox. They wore a cyan coat and baggy purple pants. The coat was fluffy around the edges and had multiple pockets inside and out. Similar to my own. Both their voice and the form didn't indicate a gender. Just physical existence.
Though it wasn't their form that Phoebe and I were surprised by. It was the fact that they talked. Before we started these operations Kumu were only able to express themselves by grunting like animals, and forming themselves into letters. After the operations the Kumu were able to speak telepathically, but Yoko was the first to actually speak.
"Is something the matter? I could take upon a friendlier appearance if you'd like."
Yoko waved their hand and shrunk down to a more animalistic nine tailed fox. Their proportions were more catlike now. They jumped up and laid across my shoulders.
"If you are worried about your leg or scarf master there is no need to worry. I've got you covered."
Yoko jumped back down and their body split. It morphed into a cyan scarf and golden leg just as it had before, but now Yoko still stood in front of me except they was now made of blue fire. The same fire souls were made of.
"They can speak."
"Yes they can."
"And they still can shift like before. Fascinating."
"So... what's a fitting new name? Hmm."
"Actually if it's okay with you master I quite like the name Yoko. May I keep it?"
I exchanged a glance with Phoebe who just shrugged her shoulders.
"Sure I guess."
"Thank you very much. I shall leave you two be then."
Yoko morphed into their small fox form and jumped into Yuki's lap. Yuki pet him and they slowly drifted off to sleep.
"Welp. Looks like it's just the two of us now." Phoebe said as she slowly scooted closer to me.
"Yep. It's gotten quite late, or should I say early. It takes longer to do those operations than we thought."
"Yeah." Phoebe wrapped a blanket around me. I couldn't help but notice how she was wrapped in here with me. "Hey Thorn?"
"Y-yeah?"
"You remember a while back when I wanted to ask you a question?"
"I do."
"Well. I've been... thinking, and... I like you. As in I like like you. So... do you... wanna try going out sometime?"
Phoebe looked at me. Her face was dark red and her eyes were flicking across my face nervously. I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing. My dreams were coming true. I could feel a smile stretching across my face.
"Phoebe. I'd love too."
Phoebe's face lit up as she pulled me into a hug.
"Yes! Thank you! I've been terrified thinking about this all afternoon!"
"Ya know you could've asked sooner. I've felt the same way for a while, but I've been to scared to gather the courage and ask."
I laid my head on Phoebe's shoulder.
"We're gonna have to wait a bit longer to do anything though. I can't exactly take you out for dinner till we've grown more."
Phoebe laid her head on mine.
"Can't you age our bodies up to our actual ages? Or make us new ones?"
"I mean maybe, but I'd rather get a better understanding of my abilities first. Take the Kumus for example. I used life and space magic to give them higher intelligence, new life, and the ability to express themselves. I'd have to use space magic to create the body, and I'd have to use life magic to make it work. But what if that created another conscious and we had to fight it for control? I need to isolate what makes the conscious, and make sure that couldn't get into the bodies, others we could get trapped and would be forced to watch someone live our lives. I just-"
"Okay, Thorn? I love you, but it's too late into the night to be going full science mode. Wanna sleep like this?"
"Yeah. Those invisibility spells were taxing. I don't think I could move even if I wanted to."
"Alright then. We'll rest like this. Goodnight Thorn."
"Nighty night Phoebe."
As I closed my eyes to fall asleep I couldn't help but notice the smiles spreading across Yuki and Yoko's faces.
*-Lilia-*
I woke up the next morning and left my room to prepare breakfast for the others. I took two of the milk bottles out of the cold box and placed them in the heating box made by the Young Master.
He was only 3 and a half years old, and yet he was already making revolutionary creations such as these. He told me that he could make these bigger so that we could preserve meat and other foods. Truly the Young Master was a genius rivaled by few. In all honestly I wouldn't be too shocked if he left to go explore the world sometime soon.
Looking into the living room I saw that young master Aurora had awoken and was staring towards the wall. I followed her gaze and found the Young Master and Ms.Phoebe cuddled up to each other. The blanket around them had fallen, and showed the two holding hands as they slept. I walked over to put the blanket back over them, but stopped whenever Ms.Phoebe woke up and covered them herself. She looked at me as I bowed, and she smiled as she brought her free hand to her lips. She snuggled into the Young Master's chest and returned to sleep. Looking around I saw a small animal resting in the air. It looked similar to a fox however this one was Snow White, and had nine tails with blue and gold markings all over its body. It didn't take a genius to realize that it was the results of the experiments done by the Young Master and Ms.Phoebe.
I checked on young master Cyrus to find that he was still asleep. I went back to the kitchen and started laying everything out to make some breakfast. The Young Master had gifted me some papers with recipes on them, and had placed ingredients I had never seen before in another cold box by the wall. There was another box, but this one didn't feature any specific temperature. Instead it was larger on the inside. Apparently the Young Master could only put one enchantment on a box, so this would help preserve the ingredients that didn't require the cold or heat, such as spices, which he supplied a plenty.
He even provided me with new pots and pans, and a "stove," as he called it. I turned a dial, and what seemed to be a magic circle produced a small flame. I tried telling him that he didn't need to give such lavish gifts to a maid such as myself, but he told me that if I didn't want to accept it as a gift, then I can accept as new work tools. Apparently I would now be able to create new dishes like I'd never cooked before.
I decided to start with a recipe called "Scrambled Eggs." It was labeled as an easy recipe, so I decided to try it.
I started the stove and placed the designated pan on top. I got the listed ingredients ready and started cooking. It was simple to make as all the steps were listed out. The Young Master told me that while I learned these he was going to be making a cook book. Ms.Phoebe was right when she called him a glutton it seems.
I ended up making 7 scrambled eggs. I found that I was having so much fun cooking that I ended up making to much food. I placed the scrambled eggs onto a large plate and placed them in the hot box to keep them warm. The Young Master said it warmed anything put in it up to a specified temperature so I wouldn't have to worry about them getting burned.
I went back upstairs and found young master Cyrus awake in his crib. He hadn't seemed to notice me yet. He waved his hands around in the air and giggled, as if he were watching something amusing happen. I walked over to his crib and picked him up.
"Good morning young master Cyrus. Did you sleep well."
Young master Cyrus immediately laid his head on my chest and started giggling. I was starting to suspect if young master Cyrus may have been possessed. I'll have to ask the Young Master about it later. It'll be rude of me, but I cannot risk something bad happening to the Young Master or young madam Aurora. I brought young master Cyrus downstairs and saw the Young Master and Ms.Phoebe awake and speaking to each other. I couldn't understand them however. They weren't speaking the human tongue, but it wasn't the language the Young Master spoke to the twins in.
It sounded like running water. Like your in a bath and you wave your hand underwater, and the water splashes against the tub. I didn't even know that humans could make that noise. Though it was probably knowledge that they held from their previous lives. Maybe that could be what's happening with young master Cyrus? Was he to a reincarnate?
"Oh! Good morning Lilia."
"Good morning Ms.Lilia."
The Young Master and Ms.Phoebe both greeted me when they noticed me.
"Good morning Young Master. Good morning Ms.Phoebe. Did you sleep well?"
The two blushed as they nodded their heads.
"That's good. I shall set the table for breakfast. I'm afraid I got caught up and ended up making to much. So I hope you eat as much as you'd like."
I sat young master Cyrus in the crib with young madam Aurora, and set the food on the table. I set two plates on the table with forks, and placed my plate and fork on the counter for later.
"Thank you very much Ms.Lilia!"
I looked towards Ms.Phoebe and saw she was beaming at me. The Young Master was behind her smiling widely at the food. His eyes were physically sparkling.
"You're welcome, and there is no reason to call me Ms.Lilia. I am a maid. I shouldn't have such pleasantries."
"That's not true! You've helped Thorn a whole bunch since he reincarnated here. I was just lucky enough to be born a princess. Or unlucky I should say. Because of my rank as princess, and my title as a miko I can barely ever leave the capitol."
"I see. That's a shame then. It seems to make the Young Master quite happy whenever your here, and he always gets quite sad when you leave."
"Dah! Lilia?!"
"Aw. Does Thorn get all sad when I leave?"
Ms.Phoebe hugged the Young Master as he looked down and blushed. Then something odd happened. His irises changed. Both in color and in shape. They turned dark pink and became heart shaped.
"Thorn? Are you okay?"
Ms.Phoebe noticed and started examining his eyes.
"Y-yeah. What's wrong?"
"Well Young Master. Your eyes are..."
"Yuki can I get a mirror please?"
I don't know who this Yuki is, but Ms.Phoebe held her hand out and a mirror, made of what seemed to be ice, appeared above her hand. It reflected the Young Master, and his blush turned to a deep red as he saw his eyes. He covered them with his hands.
"Tiny traitors!"
Ms.Phoebe couldn't seem to help, but laugh a little at the Young Master's reaction. The fox from before hopped onto the Young Master's shoulders. He started petting it, and it breathed what looked like purple fire onto the Young Master's face. I found that I wasn't the only one supposed as Ms.Phoebe recoiled as well.
"Thorn!"
"Wait! I'm okay."
The fire dispersed and what looked like glasses now sat on the Young Master's face. Though they were different from my own. The lens were perfectly circular and black.
"Nice work Yoko. Tea shade sunglasses. Nice."
The Young Master returned to petting the fox which laughed as it rested its head on its paws.
"They look good on you, but I wish those eyes could look at me more."
"Well now you'll never know when I'm looking at you. For all you know I could just be watching you all the time now."
The Young Master took Ms.Phoebe's hand and kissed it. Ms.Phoebe tried flustering the Young Master, but her plan backfired. She was now a blushing mumbling mess being held in his arms. At times like these you'd see their real ages poking through.
I made the two of them plates and sat them next to each other.
"Breakfast is ready."
"Thank you!"
"Th-Thank you. Ms.Lilia why don't you eat with us today? I'm worried that Thorn may eat everything before you get a plate."
"I'm agreeing with Phoebe on this one. I'm not gonna stop eating till the food runs out, so I say that you eat with us."
"If that's what you wish then."
I must say I did quite a good job. The eggs were delicious. I had a total of two eggs, Ms.Phoebe only had one, and the Young Master had the last four. After I finished my breakfast I fed the babies their milk. They both seemed to be in a sour mood for some reason, but I managed to feed them both without either of them crying.
"Just got a message from Mars. Mrs.Zenith and Mr.Paul will be traveling here with him, so they will be returning in about half an hour."
Phoebe informed me of the Master and Madam's approach as I exited the house to collect their bedding. I made their bed and by the time I finished cleaning the dishes they had returned home.
"Where's my little Rudy?"
The Madam came bursting through the door and pulled the Young Master into a big hug. She then seemed to notice Ms.Phoebe who was currently sitting on the couch holding young madam Aurora. At first young madam Aurora was against it, but after Ms.Phoebe sang her a foreign song she warmed up to her.
"Gasp. Aurora's letting you hold her now too? This just isn't fair."
The Madam then started sulking as she held onto the Young Master.
"It's okay mom. Maybe she just needs time."
"Yeah Ms.Zenith. Sometimes you just need time."
"I suppose I can wait a little longer. Now where's Cy?"
"Bah! Goo!"
Young master Cyrus spoke up from his spot on the couch.
"There's my Cy!"
The madam picked up and held onto young master Cyrus who smiled as he laid on the Madam's chest.
"Well at least one of the babies are happy to see me."
"She'll warm up to you eventually mom. Don't worry."
"So long as I have Cyrus and Rudy I guess I can wait."
"Well, since Mars is here it would be best for us to get back to the capitol. I didn't inform the king of our departure. Hehe."
*In the Capital of the Asura Kingdom, Ars*
In a city far from the village of Buena a teenage girl wanders the streets of the capital city of Ars. Or so it may seem, but that teenager is no teenager at all. Adorned in a brown robe with a white under coat, carrying a large staff in her right hand and a suitcase in her left, and her long hair braided back in two parts. The 36 years old migurdian woman named Roxy Migurdia goes door to door in the noble's area looking for someone who wishes to hire a powerful water mage.
She had graduated from the Ranoa University of Magic at the top of her class, and was ranked as a Saint-class water mage. She had been traveling as an adventurer since then, but was now looking for a more stable source of income. Hopefully in the form of her dream job. Magic tutoring.
'It's been over two months and I can't even find a single person who has a job for me. They turn their noses and yell at me to get off their property just because of my hair color. Yeah I'm a demon sure, but not all demons are evil! I'm just a poor women looking for a job. That knight turned my letter of recommendation away at the palace too. Maybe Ars just isn't meant to be. That's it! If I can't find a place to work by the end of the day then it's back to the adventuring life for me! It's pretty boring since most of the requests around this region are just delivering packages or finding stray animals, but that's life for you.'
Roxy continued to go door to door and got rejected each time due to her hair or her size, most of the time for both. But eventually she found her self at the second to last house of the block. An extravagant manor with a lush garden path leading to the entrance.
Roxy approached with gold coins shining in her eyes.
'Now this has to be it! Whoever lives here in a manor this big has to have at least one kid interested in learning magic. Okay here we go.'
Roxy steadied her breathing as she knocked on the set of large doors. Or was she just small? Not the time.
The doors creaked as they opened and a butler stepped outside.
"And you are?"
'You've got this! You've introduced yourself to hundreds of nobles already! It's not like your life of riches and sweets ride on this introduction or anything!'
"I am Roxy Migurdia. I am a Saint-Class W-water mage and am looking for someone to teach as a student."
'Crap! How did I stutter at Water of all words! Now they'll think I'm just some incompetent kid playing pretend like some of the other nobles did.'
"I see. Please wait here a moment."
'Wait what. He's not turning me away or shunning me? I still have a chance!'
After a couple of minutes the butler returned.
"The master would like to speak to you about your request. Please follow me."
"Yes sir right away!"
'Crap! Stop it Roxy! You're being to desperate.'
The butler led me through a bunch of rooms and hallways. It was like a maze in here. Eventually we got to what seemed to be a meeting room. There were two entrances. The one I entered from and one on the opposite side of the room. Standing with two at each entrance were guards with swords on their hips. In the middle of the room was a long rectangular table. Separated by the table were two fairly large couches. Seated on the couch on the other side of the table was a, to put it simply, grotesque man. He was morbidly obese and had a bald held that reflected the light coming in from the windows. Based on how he his chest was moving you'd think that breathing was exercise for him.
"H-hello sir. My name is Roxy Migur-"
"Please please. My butler already told me who you are and why you're here. Please, come sit."
"Oh. O-kay."
I took a seat on the couch opposite of him.
"My name is Darius Silva Ganius. Though the people of this city know me as the Prime Minister. So then. Roxy~. I'm gonna get straight to the point. As I'm sure you're aware, there isn't a single noble in this city who'd even think of hiring a demon to teach their children. I am one such noble, though my reason is a little different. There's two actually. One, I don't have any. And two, I've received a message from God himself to kill you. So I'm afraid today will be your last. It's a shame to. No matter how much I begged them they wouldn't allow me to take you as a slave. Oh a Migurdian woman would be perfect. Never aging for as long as I live. Always staying the same. You're so timid to. You would look perfect chained to my bed."
'... What the FUCK is this guy talking about?! God wants me dead and he'd rather take me as some kind of sex slave?! Gah this is disgusting! It's not abnormal for a noble to be a little pudgy or to have some secrets that sneak past the law, but this is a whole other lev-'
My thoughts paused as I could hear all four guards unsheathing their swords.
'Shit shit shit. Wait what am I doing? I'm a mage! Use magic!'
I raised my staff and started chanting.
"Supple spirit of water and princess of streams that flow through the earth, sweep away all things with your hidden inner might. Splash flow!"
"Huh?!"
Darius fell back in his couch as I unleashed a torrent of water magic. The guards were slammed against the walls and all the glass in the room shattered. Quickly picking up my suitcase I jumped out the window and ran through the yard. As I get out of the garden I could faintly hear that man screaming.
'Thank goodness I was still on the first floor.'
"Guards! Guards you incompetent fools! Go catch that women unless we face the wrath of the very Gods! Now go!"
'Crap this bad! I gotta get out the city! I just assaulted the Prime Minister! Of course I did! With my luck I wouldn't be shocked if they caught me before I got out of the Noble's district.' I was running through the streets and got through the nobles district. I was almost through the adventurers district whenever men on horses started chasing after me.
I chanted and shot water balls at them, but got stopped when a bunch of guards arrived at a fork in the road. I was surrounded. I was about to cast another splash flow, but then everything just froze over.
"Are you alright Miss?"
Above me standing on a rooftop was a girl with bandage covered eyes. In her arms was a small child. Assuming they were human I'd guess 3 years old.
"U-um. Yes, b-but I need to leave. They'll send more people after me."
The girl jumped down and slowly floated to the ground. The girl in her arms spoke to me next.
"Your magic is quite powerful. May I ask what you do for a living?"
'Whoever this is is clearly stronger than me. I'll just play along for now.'
"Oh um. Well I'm a Saint Class water mage, ma'am. I am an adventurer, but after the prime minister tells the guild about my assault it's likely that my license will be revoked. I came here hoping to find a t-tutoring job, but well. You can see how that went."
"Wait you punched Darius?! Hah! I've wanted to punch that pig ever since I first saw him. What about other forms of magic?"
"Well I'm advanced in the other attack magics and I'm intermediate in both healing and detoxification. I was the top student in my class in the Ranoa University of Magic, so my education is top notch. W-why do you ask?"
"Well do I have an offer for you then. I have a... friend over in the Fittoa region interested in learning magic, and water magic actual tends to be his favorite. If you go to the Citadel of Roa and accept the job offer to tutor him, then I can promise to make it worth your while."
"Um I appreciate the offer, but I don't even know your name."
The girl giggled as she looked directly at me. I felt a chill pass over me.
"Phoebe. Fourth princess of the Asura Kingdom."
"P-princess?!"
"Yep. You can consider tutoring him payment for keeping Darius at bay."
"T-thank you very much! I'll leave for the Fittoa region right away."
"Wonderful. You'll be looking for a job listing from either Zenith Greyrat or Paul Greyrat. And don't worry about Darius. I'll make sure he doesn't send anyone after you."
I managed to arrive in Roa after a few weeks of travel. I guess Phoebe kept her word when she said she'd make sure no one came after me. I passed through the gate and made my way over to the adventurers guild. I looked on the bulletin board, and just like Phoebe had said. I found a request looking for a tutor posted by Zenith Greyrat. I accepted the job, and was about to stop at an inn to rest. I was gonna rest now, so I could leave early in the morning, and when I got to Buena I'd be well rested and my mana reserves would be topped off. That ship sailed however, when I left the adventurers guild. I saw a boy, about five years old, standing on a rooftop with a menacing slime like creature floating around him. He was wearing a blood red mask, so only his shining red eyes were visible. He was staring directly at me, so I bought a carriage ride and started making my way to Buena immediately.

'I think I just met that Tutor you told me about.'
I sent a message to Phoebe, and felt a link connect to her Kumu.
'Oh? The blue haired girl? What do you think?'
'I was pretty far away from her, but I could sense her aura. She's strong. Not strong enough to beat us, but I can sense her potential. She has a lot of room for growth. Definitely the smart type. Maybe Thorn will end up teaching her a thing or two.'
'Truly? Guess I found Thorn a good tutor then.'
'That you did.'
I turned away and made my way back to the manor. Father said something about having hired me a sword instructor. I was excited to finally end my butler training.

The carriage pulled up to the outskirts of Buena. I stepped out and started walking towards the village. I was told a big fenced in house owned by the Knight of the village is where I'd be staying. 5 silvers a month, and food and board are provided? That was a killer deal if I'd ever heard one.
I was about half way across the village when I spotted a house matching the description I was given. Not many of other houses were two stories tall with a fenced lawn and garden. But that's not what peaked my interest. Shooting up into the air behind the house was a giant ball of water. It was a spell I was quite familiar with. I had just used it a couple of weeks ago to assault the prime minister of Asura after all. Splash flow.
"Well this is going to be interesting."
With Roxy arriving in Buena Chapter 5 comes to an end. Kumus' are evolving and Raion and Rudeus are both getting tutors. As said earlier at one point in the chapter Rosey Reincarnation can now be read on Archive of Our Own. Any NSFW content can be found there. See you all next week!
