With the possible approach of a civil war, Sanji goes undercover to Zoro's domain to obtain battle plans. Sanji has to seduce Zoro into letting his guard down, but it's not easy to do with someone you hate. They never got along as children, and they don't get along as adults. But their alpha and omega instincts could change how they feel about each other, even though Sanji has to betray Zoro in the end. Zoro is too focused with his sword training to care about omegas, but Sanji affects him in a way that's annoying. Can they stop the civil war from coming? Or will they take sides for the sake of pride and ignore their feelings for one another.

Chapter 1

The heat was extreme, and Sanji wanted to get out of the sun sooner rather than later. The camel he rode on was getting exhausted, and if he didn't find a place to rest soon, he might lose the animal. If that happened, then he'd be forced to cross the desert on foot. He reached into his pocket to pull a cigarette, finding that he only had two left. He would have to find a place to rest and roll more, or he'd be cranky by the time he reached the East Oasis.

The East Oasis is known as the richest of the provinces as well as maintaining the largest army. Their warriors were known as the best, but they were actually mercenaries, not official province soldiers. Sanji was a warrior himself, but currently, he was undercover for his home of West Oasis.

He was chosen by the High Priest to infiltrate the East Oasis Villa, seduce the mercenary leader, and steal any and all battleplans. There was a civil war looming over the country, and it would turn each province against one another. The leaders of the oases each want to be the king, so they can rule over the rest of the provinces. Sanji didn't really care if there would be a king or not, but the amount of gold he'd be paid would set him up for life. He was doing it all for the money.

The leader of the mercenaries he had to seduce was Roronoa Zoro, a man he had come to detest ever since they were children. They grew up in the same small village. Ever since they were children, they never got along, for what reason, neither of them knew or cared. They would fight and bicker often, though neither one ever won. They always ended up as a stalemate. They would find any reason to fight.

But one day, when they were both young men in their early teens, Zoro presented as alpha, while Sanji presented as omega. Sanji hated himself for being an omega, especially all the rules and predetermined etiquette that came with it (that he refused to follow). Luckily, Zoro left the province after he presented, which was before Sanji found out he was an omega. The mosshead idiot would have never let him live it down back then. It was embarrassing, and people often viewed omegas as weak. It was unfair. Omegas were to be docile, obedient, and even submissive. None of those were in Sanji's nature, and he never collapsed into the role of typical omega. Instead, he trained every day, long into his adulthood. He was able to beat down any alpha who challenged him. He had quite the line of alphas who wanted to mate and break him, but he easily beat them down. He never lost a match, and he always sent alphas crawling away with their tails between their legs.

He would often seduce an alpha who attempted to court him, only to trick the alpha into getting beat down. Alphas were always shocked when they lost to an omega. Sanji was tall and lean with athletic muscles, which turned off some alphas. But his rare blonde hair was a curse, as it brought the alphas sniffing around. He would never belong to an alpha, nor will he ever bear children or lose his omega virginity. Omegahood was not in his future. However, there was one part about being omega that he accepted, and that was cooking. He loved to cook. And maybe he'd be able to win over Roronoa Zoro with his food more than seduction. Maybe.

He would go undercover as a servant to work in the kitchens. Being a servant would grant him more access to Zoro, who was his primary target. The idiot alpha had the battleplans of more than one province, which is why he had to obtain them before the civil war broke out. The High Priest was certain of his victory, and Sanji was too.

But Zoro…the obnoxious, loud-mouthed, mosshead alpha sent a wave of disdain through his body. He hadn't seen the man in years. Zoro had left when he was fifteen, and a good ten years have passed. He wondered what the man looked like as an adult. Zoro wasn't that tall as a kid, and Sanji had always been a few inches taller anyway.

As the mercenary leader, Zoro was probably covered in muscle, but that didn't mean he was unbeatable. Sanji has taken down numerous buff alpha's with just his legs alone. His legs and flexibility were his primary source of fighting and defense. One time, he heard a particular alpha talking about him, of the 'yellow hair omega' with legs long enough to 'wrap around you twice.' Sanji swiftly took care of him with those same legs.

He wondered what Zoro would think of him when they saw each other again. Would they go right back to bickering like they did when they were children? That brought a smirk to Sanji's lips. In some odd way, he had missed their fighting, even though they were only children at the time. He knew bickering and picking a fight as adults would be different.

Finally, he saw the East Oasis and let out a sigh of relief that he didn't have to make a stop. The main entryway was open and he could freely ride through. The streets were busy and bustling with people and merchants. He decided to drop the camel off at a stable, took his travel bag, and continued on foot. Sanji stopped at a food stall to buy himself some meat on a stick and a cup of water. He didn't realize how hungry he was until he took the first bite of food. Afterward, he continued to the villa.

Once he was finally in front of the large villa, he was stopped by two guards that crossed their spears in front of him. Both were betas, due to their smell, but they were looking at him with all seriousness.

"What business do you have here?" Asked the first guard.

"I've come looking for work," He replied, lighting up his last cigarette. "I know the master mercenary."

"Oh, do you?" The other guard smirked. "And just who are you?"

"Just tell him that 'curly eyebrows' is here seeking work. I'm certain he'll let me in."

The guards had to tell another guard to inform Zoro of his presence. Sanji was still hot standing in the sun and wanted to go inside to cool off. His lower back and backside ached from traveling a great distance. He waited around but was becoming impatient. Just how long was this taking?

Then, another guard approached them and said that Zoro would see him. Sanji smirked and blew out a puff of smoke. He was in!

Zoro had just finished training in the battle yard with his men when he received word that his old enemy was here. Zoro had not thought of Sanji Vinsmoke in a very, very long time. The last time he heard of Sanji were some rumors he overheard among the elites. Curly Brow was an omega who fought like an alpha with his legs as a weapon. Those same legs, Zoro heard, were long enough to 'wrap around you twice.' Sanji had always been tall, and the two of them might just be the same size now. When they were kids, Sanji stood a few inches taller, but Zoro had grown up fast and quickly. He wouldn't have to look up at Sanji. Sanji was a pain in the ass for him when they were younger, and he couldn't wait to see what type of man the blonde had become. A new challenge, he hoped.

He got tired of waiting and headed to the front of the villa. The master of the province was away on business, and left Zoro in charge. He could meet Sanji in the main office room, which would probably be better. Zoro told a passing servant to tell the guards to bring the visitor to the office. The servant bowed and hurried to give the message. Zoro turned in the opposite direction and went to the office where he sat and waited.

He had some time to think about the past, when he and Curly Brow were kids. They never got along. Zoro could remember all their fights ending in a stalemate, which left Sanji as the only person he has never beaten. But Zoro found it odd that Sanji would come all the way here just to work at the villa. Why here, of all places, where his enemy was? Something wasn't adding up. Sanji working here would mean that he is the blondes' boss, and he wondered how Sanji would deal with that. Something wasn't right.

But he was surprised to learn that Sanji presented as omega. Presenting as omega must have been quite the blow to Sanji's pride. Zoro smirked as he pictured the image of Sanji being slack jawed and shocked that he wasn't an alpha. Since he is an alpha, that puts him above Sanji. But things like that, he didn't really care about. Sure, it was fun to see Sanji taken down a few pegs, but he never really got into all the alpha and beta and omega dynamics of things. He was too focused on training to become the best swordsman to care about the differences. Whether Sanji was an omega or not didn't mean anything to him. He was never a rule follower anyway, which is why he became a mercenary. He can be his own boss.

Finally, a guard came in and ushered Sanji inside. It was like a bolt of lightning struck them both at seeing each other after so long. The guard left the room, leaving the two men to stare at each other in icy silence.

Sanji was almost sick to his stomach when he felt the sudden connection between them. He had never felt the 'connection bond' before, and he didn't believe in it. It was supposed to be how an alpha and omega knew they were meant to be mated. It was all just lies and stories to tell in the songs and ballads…right? He thought the feeling was just a typical omega thing that he can easily ignore. But looking at Zoro gave him pause. The green-haired man was tall, as tall as him, with broad shoulders and narrow waist. The idiot's body was clearly built for battle and endurance. This Roronoa Zoro looked nothing like when they were kids, and that pissed Sanji off.

Zoro grit his teeth when he felt that same connection pass between them, and he knew it had to be wrong. He figured it was because he hadn't seen the man in so long, and that they were going to start fighting. Zoro quickly suppressed the feeling and crossed his arms over his chest. Sanji was as tall as he was, with those same long legs and flexible body. For an omega, he was well built, and no doubt can hold his own. Still, the big question was why is he here? It couldn't be just for work. It had to be for something else.

"What are you doing here?" Zoro asked, finally breaking the silence between them.

"Not even a 'hello'?" Sanji smirked.

Zoro scoffed. "I find it strange that you would show up here where I am."

"The High Priest of this province holds the power, not you," Sanji countered. "But if you must know, I came here to be a cook. I'm looking for work."

Zoro sat down in a chair and put his feet up on the table. "Of all the Villas, you come here? Have you missed me that much?"

"Don't flatter yourself," Sanji said. "Work is work, and I passed by the kitchen on my way here, and it needs me."

"Our kitchen is just fine," Zoro said. "We don't need another cook."

"You don't even know about gourmet food," Sanji countered. "You would eat anything no matter how it was cooked or what it looked like. You're a man of basic tastes, only because you don't know any better."

"So, your food is going to be better than what we have here?"

Sanji smirked. "That's the deal,"

"It's not my place to hire or not hire you. The High Priest is away right now, but he'll likely hire you as a cook. You'll need to be a cook in this kitchen, though. I can't put an omega in the barracks kitchen,"

Sanji narrowed his eyes. "And just why is that?"

"Can't you figure it out?" Zoro said flatly. "All my mercenaries are alphas and betas. You wouldn't last one day in that kitchen."

Sanji growled and gripped his fist in the air towards Zoro. "Are you saying I'm too weak to protect myself from alphas, mosshead!"

"Mosshead?" Zoro hadn't heard that insulting nickname since they were kids. He stood up right away and slammed his hands on the table.

"Don't be calling me by that name, curly brow! If you work here, that makes me your boss, as I'm in charge while the High Priest is away!"

"I don't take orders from anyone!" Sanji shouted. "I cook for the sake of cooking! I don't need to take orders from alphas, especially a mosshead idiot swordsman like you!"

Zoro pulled out one of his three swords and pointed it at Sanji. "Don't talk back to me, omega!" He knew that insult would get into Sanji's crawl.

"Then come at me and show me what you've got, idiot alpha!"

Zoro did charge at Sanji, but he didn't plan on hurting him. But Sanji was fast and used his leg to block the sword. Sanji ducked and spun his leg in a roundhouse kick to knock Zoro off his feet. Zoro acted quickly and jumped over the long leg. He brought the sword down, but Sanji blocked his swordhand. The two were now locked in a battle of strength, trying to push the other back and into submission while growling at the other. However, neither one of them was moving or budging despite their strength. They were evenly matched, again. They broke away at the same time, panting and gripping their fists.

To his annoyance, Sanji knew that he needed to land a job here at the villa in order to seek out and steal the battleplans. Battling Zoro was not the greatest idea, but he couldn't help himself. The man was just as strong as when they were kids, but he was strong as well. To think, after all these years, they still ended in a stalemate. He had almost forgotten that he was supposed to be wooing and seducing Zoro, not fighting him. This was going to be harder than he originally thought.

"You haven't changed much," Zoro said, putting away his sword.

"Neither have you. So, regarding the job as a cook, I'll head to the kitchen now to start cooking."

"And you're fine with cooking my meals?" Zoro asked. "Do I have to worry about poison?"

"I wouldn't stoop so low as to use poison," Sanji said. "I'm not here to kill you, I'm here to work. This place is the best of the provinces, or so I've heard. That's why I chose to come here."

Zoro waved him off and went to sit back down. "Do whatever you want," he said. "Just stay out of the barracks,"

"Don't tell me what to do!"

"Fine then! Do what you want, you shitty curly brow. If my fighters get out of hand because of you, I'm not coming to your rescue!"

"Like I would need your rescuing!" Sanji shouted back.

Zoro knew it was probably true, that Sanji could hold his own against alphas. But it was the number of alphas that lived in the barracks. Sanji couldn't take all of them on in a fight. Putting an omega in the barracks would be like dangling meat in front of a starving dog. He was an alpha who had restraint, but not all his men were the same. Technically, it was an alpha's job to protect an omega. But Sanji doesn't need protection, and surely not from him.

Sanji wanted to challenge Zoro again but pushed the need down. He had to start seducing Zoro, not fighting him. Of course, he'd much rather fight the idiot alpha, but he has a task to complete with a lot of money at stake. He had an idea, a thought, to get the seduction ball rolling.

"Would you be jealous of other alphas coming after me?" He asked.

Zoro raised a brow. "What are you talking about?"

"By keeping me in the villa kitchen, you're trying to protect me from the mercenary alphas. Are you that concerned with my well-being?"

"I don't care what you do. I gave you warnings, it's up to you whether you choose to listen to them or not. Your looks will be like waving a red flag in front of a bull."

Sanji smirked, he knew just how to respond. "So, you think I'm good-looking?" He boasted.

Zoro felt his face heat a little bit as he realized how that sounded. It was true about Sanji's looks; the omega male was handsome with that yellow hair and lithe omega form. Sanji definitely grew into his looks. Zoro blamed the feeling on his alpha instincts that he was slightly attracted to his old enemy. They weren't children anymore. They were adults now, and adults viewed the world and people differently.

"If you can beat me, then you can have me," Sanji said. "That's what I tell all alphas that challenge me, and I've never been beaten."

"Who says I want you?" Zoro countered. "I don't waste my time on omegas." He really didn't, but he couldn't deny the slight hint of desire he felt for the blonde. It had to be the whole 'opposites attract' thing that stories like to tell. Enemies to friends, or enemies to lovers. All were for the storybooks.

"You missed the point, mosshead. You can't ever beat me anyway, so you can't have me even if you wanted me."

Zoro tensed at that. "And what happens when I do beat you?"

"Then you can have what so many others seek but never claimed," Saying that to Zoro gave him butterflies in his stomach.

It was a wild thought, and Sanji couldn't believe that he was even thinking it. But if he had to be with an alpha, then he would want to be with Zoro. That thought turned the butterflies into a stomach ache. To give himself to Zoro, his enemy, would be to submit his body to the alpha. He was only supposed to seduce Zoro, not go any further than that. But his omega side was sending him different thoughts. Zoro was handsome in his own way, with hard muscles, tanned skin and dark eyes.

'Damn it all,' Sanji thought. 'I can't be attracted to him. He's my enemy! We don't get along!' It almost felt as if he saw Zoro as a worthy alpha. Again, more omega instincts and thoughts.

"As I said before, I don't bother with omegas," Zoro said. "If you want to go to the barracks, then fine. Be my guest. If not, then go to the kitchen here. Now leave me alone. I want to nap."

"You're STILL napping throughout the day? You haven't changed much since we were kids,"

Zoro already had his eyes closed and was snoring softly.

Sanji's curly brow curled even more with frustration. 'He seriously just went to sleep on me? That jerk! I should take this chance to kick him across the room!' But he decided to go to the kitchen instead of punching Zoro. After all, he had to remember that he was supposed to seduce Zoro to get to the battleplans. 'Focus on the money,' Sanji reasoned with himself. 'Focus on the money. It's all for the money.'

He left the office, slamming the door behind him. He heard Zoro shout 'hey!' from behind the door and Sanji smirked. So, he had a job as a cook; now he can start settling in. The first order of business is to roll more cigarettes before he becomes too cranky. Then, he would make a delicious dish for Zoro and bring it to him personally. It would be the start of the dance of seduction.
