"Well, that was interesting."

"Agreed."

Mob sat near the back, fidgeting. The stares on him made him uncomfortable, but he tried his best to ignore them. Ritsu glared at the unashamed onlookers, keeping them away as best he could without using psychic powers (per Mob's request).

"Nii-san, if you feel uncomfortable, I can make that woman send us back. We really have no reason to watch-"

"But we could see the future!" Reigen cut in, speaking in a low voice.

"I didn't ask you-"

"Please, stop fighting," Mob said quietly. "Just stop."

"I'm not averse to seeing the future, Nii-san, but I want you to be comfortable. And now everyone knows you're an esper."

Mob rested a hand on his head. "There's nothing we can do about that... but... I would like to see where things go. And that requires watching the past."

"So we stay?" Said Teru, listening in.

"Yes. For now, at least, we stay."

"So, is everyone ready? I'm going to play the musical intro," Kei called.

A chorus of 'Yes' es and nods came, so she pressed play again.

"Wow, I actually kind of like it."

"Catchy."

"Hey, does this have an actual song title?" One girl called to Kei.

Mob, Mob- what do you want?

Mob, Mob- why do you want?

Mob, Mob- who do you want?

"Um, okay, a little weird but altogether still cool."

Reigen frowned slightly and looked at Mob, next to him.

What do you want... How cryptic.

Move! Move! Just like Mob!

"Wait, can you rewind?"

"No."

"What was that? There was a line to his heart, and then- what?"

Reigen focused on the screen. "Your life is your own..." he mused aloud.

That's going to be important, isn't it?

Onscreen, Mob lifted his head, earth exploding around him, eyes pure white as buildings burst out of the cracked ground.

"Whoa-"

"God, that is so cool!"

"I wish I could do that."

No, Mob thought, surprising himself a little. No, you don't.

"Whew, that was cool!"

"Yeah, I really liked it- especially the ending scene. Wow!"

Kei smirked, imaging their reaction to the second one. She chuckled. That would be amusing.

Mob Psycho 100

Back at the Spirits and Such Consultation Office, Reigen put money in a small container.

"Man, you're a lifesaver. I never thought an evil spirit would really show up." He put the money in a safe.

"Here, your pay for the day," he said, giving Mob 300 yen.

"300 YEN?"

"THE MINIMUM WAGE IS 874 YEN!"

"That's illegal."

Reigen blanched, staying quiet.

"You're paying Nii-san 300 yen?"

"A-Ah, Ritsu, it's all right-"

Ritsu glared at Reigen, who sweated, keeping his lips zipped shut.

"Oh, thank you."

"And he just accepted it? HE DID ALL THE WORK!"

Quite a few of the teachers glared at Reigen's back.

Mob put the money away.

"That one was a lower-level spirit, so I really shouldn't be paying you more than half-"

"Cheapskate."

"-But I'll give you your hourly pay. Think of it as a bonus."

"Right."

"What, do you have a problem with that?"

"Who wouldn't?"

"Honestly, yeah. I'd have a problem with that."

"That's against the law," Berated one of the teachers.

"Oh, no. But, the spirit back there really was a lower-level spirit. It was so weak, you-"

Reigen cut him off.

"CALLED OUT."

"It's so obvious you're a fake. I just- what?"

"When you get to my level-"

"WhEn yOu gEt tO mY lEveL- shut the fuck up, you musty bitch."

Ritsu snorted in a horribly ungentlemanly way and had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing out loud.

"You get so strong that you end up melting everyone around you during a simple exorcism!" He said dramatically, sweating bullets. "That's why I asked you to take care of the little ones."

"Really, I'm not sure what you mean by melt-"

"Mob, you idiot!"

"That's mean."

"It's because you lack training! You need to learn everything you can from me to master your powers. They're meant to be used! Not doing so would be a waste! Working for me allows you to train while helping others. You're killing two birds with one stone. However, if you misuse your powers, you'll destroy yourself. That's why I'm teaching you how to control your powers so they don't go berserk."

"For all the good it probably did," someone muttered, and Mob looked down. What happened with Dimple and with Teru, and Claw...

For all the good it did.

Reigen put a hand on his back, firm and comforting. "Don't listen to them," he said quietly. "They haven't seen how much better you've gotten. At controlling them, that is." His voice was slightly awkward at the end, but Mob's eyes still shone at the compliment.

Mob looked at his master. "Thank you, Shishou."

Reigen gave him a small smile. "I meant it."

Mob walked by a fence, the sun setting. He looked at his hand and at the shadows cast on it.

"You promised me, didn't you? That you wouldn't use your psychic powers against other people."

The majority of the people in the room felt a sudden rush of gratitude towards Reigen.
