Chapter 43- The Sorcerer's Apprentice Verse Part 1

The first thing I noticed when I arrived in my new body was the annoying sound of an alarm clock. With a thought the alarm clock was disintegrated into oblivion before I sat up in my tiny bed.

"Oh hell no…this just won't do," I mused to myself as I found my new body was severely scrawny and all around inadequate.

Curiously I lifted up the waist band of my boxers and checked out my most important tool in any universe.

"Some things never change," I stated with a satisfied air. "Dobby," I called before my long time friend appeared with a near silent pop.

"Yes master Harry Potter sir," asked my house elf excitedly.

"Today while I'm out I want this apartment cleaned from top to bottom. Also I'd like some breakfast. From my new memories I know there isn't much good in this place. Make sure to fix that today. Aristotle will provide you with a debit card for this universe," I instructed.

"Yes Harry Potter sir," Dobby answered before popping away.

I noticed a bulldog in the corner of my room. I'm not a big dog person but that could be because of Marge and her attack dog. Stepping in front of the mirror I found this body just wouldn't do. With a thought and a bit of my power I watched as my physique morphed to match the one I'm used to.

"Damn Dave are you taking steroids," Bennet, my roommate, asked as he walked out of his room a few minutes later to find me eating the breakfast Dobby fixed for us.

"No…but I have been trying these new growth stimulator rays I've been developing as a side project," I answered as I made up something on the fly.

In this universe I'm a nerdy Physics major.

"Well it sure works man…Happy birthday by the way. You're up early," Bennet observed.

"Professor Heiderman wants me to give a presentation to his physics 101 class," I explained.

"What teaching long division to English majors," Bennet asked in disgust.

"I know it's like the Peace Corps but it's Heiderman's class," I lamented.

"Hey bio nerds are getting drunk tonight," my almost equally nerdy friend said happily before doing his happy dance in his seat across from me. "And we invited cheerleaders from Princeton."

"Smart cheerleaders…will wonders never cease," I said with a grin while hoping Cordy would never hear the words I just spoke.

"So are you saying you aren't going to go out on your birthday," Bennet questioned.

"I need to finish the Tesla coil project if I want to graduate," was my reply.

"Dave…are you familiar with the gray wolf," Bennet asked as he stood and went over to the refrigerator where he removed a picture of a gray wolf.

"Not again," I muttered as memories of this story surfaced.

"The gray wolf is a pack animal. He must find a mate. He must hunt and he must participate. You're going to get booted out of the pack, alone, eaten by a hungry bear," Bennet informed me as he sat in front of me.

"Bennet my friend I am the alpha now. No bear will ever touch me," I assured him as I stood and walked to my room where I dressed quickly.

Before I left my clothes turned into the newest and hottest fashion in black to make me look as good as I normally do in most universes.

The classroom, a half hour later…

"Shit," I muttered as the door opening caused a sheaf of papers to blow all over the floor.

The papers jumped to my hand as I bent over and passed my hand over them. Nobody noticed the summoning spell. Noticing another paper up in the seats I climbed up and picked it up. As I stood I noticed the attractive young student before me.

"Everything ok down there," she asked.

"Most definitely," I agreed as I blatantly checked out her stocking clad legs while letting loose a bit of my aura. "Wait a second…Becky Barnes," I asked as I recognized the girl my counterpart had as a childhood crush before he was laughed out of his old school after an encounter with a magic user in which he foolishly tried to explain the magic he saw to the muggles.

"Yeah…how did you know," Becky asked as a blush slowly rose on her cheeks at being recognized by such an attractive man.

"Dave from fourth grade," I prompted.

"Dave Felber…oh wow you have grown," Becky responded with a smile as she took my checking out of her as permission to check me out.

I was very glad that morning that I had decided to make myself more appealing to the opposite sex.

"You've come a long way from Arcana…Arcana," trailed off Becky as she couldn't remember the rest.

"Arcana Cabana," I finished with a bit of an embarrassed grin.

Arcana Cabana was owned by the magic user who ended up getting trapped in some kind of magical urn as he fought another magic user as far as I could tell. I made a mental note to go check out the site later to see what really went on. Unfortunately my counterpart had been traumatized by the event enough that he cried in front of his whole class who mistook some fluid that was spilled all over the crotch of his pants for piss. Needless to say being thought to have pissed your pants while on a field trip sticks with a kid.

"So did you transfer or something," Becky asked.

"Yes, yes I did. Now I'm going to go teach the class now and maybe I'll catch up after," I answered with a smile before doing as I said.

I felt the demonstration with the small Van Da Graph generator was weak so used some illusion spells to amp up the effects. I wowed the class and I could tell Becky as well with my displays. It certainly helped keep their attention. Becky must have remembered my invitation to catch up afterwards because she waited just outside the classroom as I locked up.

"That was the most exciting Physics 101 class I've ever had. I never thought I'd hear myself utter those words," Becky told me with a grin as I turned and we began to walk.

"Does that mean you are having difficulty with the class," I asked curiously.

"Yeah…my brain doesn't think physics," she replied with a cute grin while stealing glances at me.

"Well if you need help I'm available most anytime. It's part of my job as a TA," I informed her as I smoothly conjured and handed her a business card I made up on the fly. "So what does your brain think," I questioned as we walked through the rain.

I didn't let the water bother me as it only made me look more natural.

"Music mostly…I work here," Becky explained as we arrived at the nearby radio station. "Oh no…our antenna," gasped Becky as a bolt of lightning struck the antenna for the station.

"Maybe I can help," I offered before following Becky inside.

"Anything you can do would be much appreciated," Becky said gratefully before turning to the students already working at the college station. "What's going on," Becky asked.

"Hey gorgeous," greeted the current radio jockey. "The whole mixture is toast and Freddie called in sick."

"Where's your antenna equipment," I interrupted.

"I'll show you," Becky answered with an anxious expression on her face before showing me to the outdated equipment.

It only took me a few seconds to find the problem as my nanites invaded the equipment and assessed the damage from the lightning induced power surge.

"The good news is you're still transmitting but the bad news is your return loss is way too high," I muttered mostly to myself as I adjusted the equipment to compensate. "You should be good right about now," I stated just as the broadcast went right back up.

"Thank you," Becky said after she got done making these cute amazed sounds.

"It was my pleasure Becky," I told her as I stood and stared into her brown orbs.

"Dave…I think I'd like to hear more about your physics sometime," Becky informed me nervously.

"I'd like that," I agreed before making arrangements to have dinner with her.

Later at the lab…

"You actually asked a girl out," Bennet asked in shock.

"Don't act so surprised my friend. Chicks dig the new me," I answered calmly as I adjusted my counterpart's Tesla coil equipment.

"I can see that," Bennet answered.

"Get out of here before you get electrocuted," I instructed my friend with a roguish grin.

Turning on the radio to Becky's station I heard her sweet voice over the speakers.

"It's a miracle we made it on the air tonight," said Becky. "This show may not matter but the music does. This is Becky Barnes WNYU radio hoping there's music all around you," Becky finished before a song began to play.

As the song started I activated the coil mechanism. Bolts of electricity played in tune with the music and it gave me an idea. The power requirements were quite large to arc these massive bolts across the room into the cage in the center. That was why my lab is located in an abandoned sub station near the railway.

"Aristotle I want all of the alloys in this equipment replaced with superconducting material and here are the other improvements I want made," I began before dictating to my replicat shadow exactly what I want done.

Aristotle would be my only companion and shadow for this universe as I decided I need a universe off from any of my other wives for the moment. Each man or in this case god needs his space from his wives.

As soon as I entered my apartment a short while later I sensed the evil presence waiting in the shadows. I played dumb until he revealed himself. Opening the refrigerator I saw the report magnetized there that I did on Napoleon many years ago but lost when I last met this magic user.

"I thought B- was generous," Maxim Horvath spoke up from the shadows. "I've recently been released from a ten year sentence during which the only reading material available to me was your so called report on Napoleon Bonaparte from your school bag. Your analysis was obvious, your prose was weak," criticized the counterpart of Sheik Amar in this reality as he sat at my kitchen table.

"You must feel really big about yourself Horvath…criticizing a nine year olds work," I asked with a cool façade while opening a tiny wormhole behind my back to summon the ring I even now sensed reacting to Horvath's presence. It was the ring given to me by the other magic user, Balthazar Blake, who I last saw battling this man. I imagined Balthazar wouldn't be far behind.

"Where's the grimholde," Horvath asked. "That doll you took from the shop. The doll held something very powerful, something very important to me. You had it last. I want it back."

"Wow you certainly are going to a lot of trouble to find your collection of ridged dildos. I had a peek at that doll and you somehow managed to fit a lot of dildos inside that larger dildo shaped container. Somebody is a kinky sorcerer," I taunted with a small smile twisting my lips in a mocking manner.

"Where's the grimholde," Horvath growled in rage as he stood and summoned a nearby kitchen knife into his hand. "I'll cut the truth out of you."

A loud crack echoed in the apartment as Horvath clutched the hand holding the knife even as I watched the bullet wound begin to heal.

"This is New York asshole. Everybody packs protection," I taunted before deciding to leave the apartment with extreme haste.

It was not yet time to let Horvath know my true power. Toying with your food was so much more fun. I doubt I'd get another shot with a gun before Horvath employed countermeasures. It was only surprise that allowed a gun to work this time. The sorcerer had been around for the invention of firearms so most likely knew how to shield against them.

"Get him," I heard Horvath scream from my apartment just before a conjured pack of wolves came running out.

I was quickly out of my apartment and running up a flight of stairs with the wolves hot on my heels. The turnstile onto the train platform would have slowed me down so I simply phased right through. The wolves growled at me through the bars as I looked back at them. They soon proved their intelligence by pushing through the door on the other side. As I crouched down behind the platform I sensed Balthazar approaching from the sky. Running down the tracks the wolves gave chase. Pulling my gun once more I turned while running backwards and put a bullet in each of their heads. I watched as Horvath only had time to scowl at me before he sensed Balthazar as well. He didn't even fully turn before he was clipped by the talons of the massive flying eagle Balthazar was riding, animated from a steel statue.

"Where's the doll Dave," Balthazar asked as he set down riding the giant bird.

"Shouldn't you deal with him first," I asked calmly as I put my gun away while pointing at Horvath.

Balthazar turned to see Horvath standing once more and getting ready to fire a spell from his wand. Balthazar threw a spell that resembled an impedimenta curse from my home reality.

"Alright get up here now," the sorcerer urged me as the train approached.

I jumped up onto the bird behind Balthazar as said sorcerer flung a piece of paper into the window of the train driver to block his view. As soon as I was on the bird took flight. Balthazar set down on top of the skyscraper where he borrowed the bird from. I jumped off just before Balthazar. The bird settled back into place before becoming a statue once more.

"So you were real after all. I half expected I imagined you," I told Balthazar as the sorcerer began to pet a pigeon.

"Yes I'm real Dave. It took me the last ten years to get out of that urn. Now listen well Dave. That doll is called a grimholde. It is a prison for the most dangerous Morganians in history, each one locked up in a layer of the doll. Horvath wants to free his fellow Morganians and destroy the world. This must not happen," Balthazar explained.

"No shit," I replied smartly.

"The truth," began Balthazar as he stood and approached me while ignoring my smart ass reply. "You have a very special gift. You need to see that. I see you kept the ring," Balthazar spoke as he held out his hand and summoned the ring from my pocket into his hand.

"I sensed its importance," I told him. "Now I suggest we go find this grimholde and save the world," I told Balthazar with the confidence that comes with having saved many worlds multiple times before.

"That's the spirit," Balthazar exclaimed cheerily before walking over and stepping onto the ledge that was the back of his steel bird.

I sensed as he gathered his power and cast a powerful spell that caused lightning and thunder to appear over a far part of the city.

"Behold my grimholde tracking device. A biometric pressure spell displaces the atmosphere above the doll," announced Balthazar in a way a physics major could at least comprehend.

There was far more to the science behind "magic" but the science of this time hadn't yet reached a point to explain such things.

The ground a short while later…

"If we can track the grimholde then so can Horvath," Balthazar explained as we walked down a tunnel into an impound garage.

"I'll have to call you a tow," the security guard on duty stated as he accepted Balthazar's papers while looking over at the old car that the sorcerer owned.

"That won't be necessary," Balthazar assured the man as he walked over to his vehicle.

"Yeah but this car has been impounded for like ten years," argued the guard.

Balthazar ignored the man and climbed inside before opening his hand and starting the car with his power.

"She missed me," my magical guide said with a smile.

"I'm going to give you the basics, strictly sorcery 101. Put on the ring," ordered Balthazar as we drove through town a few minutes later. Quickly slipping on the ring I felt a powerful connection form before my mentor continued with his explanation. "You've heard how people only use ten percent of their brain. Sorcerers can manipulate matter because they're born with the ability to use the entire power of their brains, which also explains why molecular physics comes so easy to you."

I didn't bother asking about the validity of his scientific explanation because he was oversimplifying things and likely didn't understand it all himself.

"For now all you need is a basic combat spell, making fire. What causes molecules to heat up?"

"They vibrate at an extremely high frequency," I answered.

"Everything we see is in a constant state of vibration, thus the illusion of solidity. If we take that which is solid and have it burst into flames we will the vibrations to go faster. Step one- clear your mind," Balthazar explained as he inhaled deeply while passing his open hand over his face. "Step two- see the molecules. Step three- make them shake," Balthazar finished before waving hand at a parking ticket a meter maid was placing under a wiper blade across the street.

I watched the ticket burst into flame with the variation of an incendio spell.

"Also keep it subtle. Civilians mustn't know magic exists…that would be complicated," Balthazar instructed as he began to drive.

The tracking storm led us to China town where there seemed to be a festival going on.

"This is it…I'll get the grimholde. Keep an eye out for Horvath," Balthazar instructed as we arrived in front of a building before he went inside.

I kept an eye out for Horvath like Balthazar instructed but I also kept an eye on him as I observed through the walls of the building and listened with hearing that could use a wormhole to listen anywhere. Wormhole spying is a much more effective method than using extendible ears. I watched as Balthazar met what appeared to be an old Asian woman before he asked her about the doll. When he spoke to her in another language the "old woman" praised him for speaking mandarin.

"That was Cantonese Horvath," chided Balthazar after he kicked his opponent across the room into a glass paneled door hard enough to kill a normal person.

Horvath morphed back into his male form.

"The grimholde where is it," demanded Balthazar.

"An old associate of mine speaks impeccable Cantonese," was Horvath's reply as a sorcerer formed out of confetti behind Balthazar's back. "He lived about two hundred years ago…know him? Sun-Lok…oh you do…you locked him inside the grimholde. Woops opened it," Horvath taunted as he held up the piece of the grimholde.

Balthazar turned just in time to catch the dozens of deadly needles on his duster before hurling back an energy blast, knocking Sun-Lok out through the window. Unfortunately Sun-Lok landed right in front of me. Sun-Lok stood and stared at me before cracking his back.

"Hello you ugly fucker," I taunted the Asian Morganian.

"Dave…you should run," instructed Balthazar as he appeared in the window.

I decided to humor Balthazar for the moment because in any logical world I shouldn't have the power to defeat the sorcerer yet. Plus it was fun to toy with Sun-Lok. I took off running into the crowd as I felt Sun-Lok gathering his power behind me. I narrowly avoided running into one of the celebrators as I watched the energy connect with the dragon costume in the middle of the parade. I watched the dragon become real as it roared at me. Balthazar caused a confetti storm to obscure the sight of the dragon from the panicked crowd. Running into a nearby building I was soon chased by the beast as it crashed through the nuisance in its path.

"Bad dragon," I scolded after I turned and kicked the large creature in the maw long enough to stagger it and cause it no small amount of pain.

The beast reared back and roared before continuing after me. I ran through the narrow halls of an apartment building as the dragon smashed its way through at a slower pace. When I made my way onto a fire escape outside of a window I summoned my trusty old friend to my hand before dangling above the window. A swipe of the infinity blade severed the magical creature's head. A cushioning charm on the ground beneath me made the landing of the fake dragon performers a much less painful one. Aiming my ring at Sun-Lok I gathered a bit of my power, making the jewel glow a bright green, and hit Sun-Lok with a ball of hot Fiendyfire. The sorcerer died as he turned to ash. I made my way back down to the street after banishing my sword back to its storage space.

"You look like a porcupine," I told Balthazar as I walked up to him and saw all the needles sticking out of his duster.

"Where did you get the sword," Balthazar asked curiously.

"I don't know…I just wanted it there and it was in my hand," I answered easily.

"Conjuration…you might be more of a natural at using your powers than I thought," Balthazar mused as the cops chose that moment to show up with sirens blaring.

Balthazar transfigured our clothes into police uniforms as we walked up to the officers.

"What happened? Did you see what happened here," asked a chubby officer.

"You know what…bottle rocket meets paper dragon in this big Asian festival and lit it up like a birthday cake," Balthazar answered in an annoying tone of voice.

"We got swamped with calls saying there was a real dragon," the round cop informed us to which Balthazar busted up laughing.

"Between you and me cap I think some of these folks were hitting the Saki pretty hard," Balthazar said with a laugh.

"Carry on," the captain instructed before going over to inspect the burned out dragon costume frame.

"So now am I going to learn some real magic," I asked after we climbed into Balthazar's car.

"We'll need a place to work, somewhere under Horvath's radar," Balthazar answered.

"I know the perfect place," I answered.

My lab…

"This was originally a subway turnaround. They let me work down here because some of my experiments are a bit dangerous," I explained as we walked down the metal staircase into my lab. "My professor has a hookup so nobody is supposed to know we are down here."

"Oh I didn't have a chance to give you this before. You're incantus," Balthazar presented as he held out a small book.

"Compact," I spoke at the sight of the shrunken book.

"Pocket addition," explained Balthazar as he began to unfold it many times until it was the size of a large tome. "The incantus is our textbook on the art, science, and history of sorcery; including our recent history as well. See…there you are," pointed out Balthazar after he opened the book. "Before we put Horvath back inside the grimholde we must first turn you into a sorcerer…which begins now," instructed my mentor as he took off his duster. "Step back," continued Balthazar as he telekinetically cleared a space.

The lights dimmed as I felt the sorcerer gather his power. He held his arms out before swinging them down in a wave at the floor while green flames erupted in a high circle around him. Large runes burned themselves into the stone floor in the shape of a ritual circle.

"This is the Merlin's circle. It focuses your energy and helps you master new spells. It is where you will learn the art. Step inside and you leave everything else behind. Once you enter there is no going back," spoke Balthazar in a serious tone.

I strode through the flames and felt them lick at my power. They did not harm me as I stood before Balthazar.

"I am Balthazar Blake, sorcerer of the 777th degree and you are my apprentice," he informed me.

"Yes master," I answered with a slight bow of my head.

This ancient sorcerer has a lot to teach me. He learned many of the spells I only mastered through reading from the sources that crafted the original incantations. He mastered spells that were lost to the magic users of my time. Balthazar would help me perfect those energy constructs.

"Your ring is not just a piece of jewelry. It projects the electrical energy of your nervous system into the physical world. Without his ring a sorcerer is powerless. The only other thing a sorcerer needs is a nice pair of pointy shoes," Balthazar explained as he tossed me a pair of rubber shoes from outside the circle. "Your rubber souls block the current. Plus it helps you look classy."

I slipped the shoes on without complaint while tweaking their size with my powers to fit comfortably. Glowing runes appeared in the bottom of the shoes to make them a bit more protected in my hazardous lifestyle.

"Your ingenuity and your heart will give you an advantage over Morganians," Balthazar explained as I now sported a baseball catcher's uniform to protect me while I practice creating the plasma balls, one of which was glowing bright blue in my master's hand. "They rely only on the power of their magic. But if you're up against the wall there is only one weapon of choice…the plasma bolt," Balthazar finished as he turned and projected the energy into a nearby object, destroying it.

As I began to practice I made it seem like it took me a while to even form the energy. I didn't want to be too perfect or Balthazar would suspect something. Eventually I formed the energy in varying degrees of strength. During my many hours upon hours of practice Balthazar would read to me from the incantus. I had already scanned the book and committed it to memory. The powerful computers on my orbiting cruiser were already breaking down the spell components and reorganizing them into new spells. I no longer really need spells but they are easier for the younger gifted to master their powers, like my children. While a lot of my children are grown by this point not all are. Some of these spells I've never even come across.

Several days later…

Balthazar caught my fireball after I projected it at him in a pocket of space devoid of air.

"The best way to defend against fire is a vacuum sphere," explained my master. "Here now you," the sorcerer instructed as he blew on a small ball of fire; causing it to launch towards me.

I caught it in a vacuum sphere while pretending to struggle with the energy construct. So far I've managed to keep my master from being suspicious as he pushes me hard to learn new spells.

"Excellent, excellent, excellent," Balthazar praised as he approached me with a smile.

"Thank you my master," I replied humbly.

"What's wrong with your Tesla coil," Balthazar asked as he walked past and raised his hand. "It seems to be firing on its own," Balthazar continued as he activated the machine and sent a bolt of lightning at me.

I was forced to absorb the energy while I pretended to get knocked on my ass by the increasingly powerful bolts of energy. Eventually I mastered them before Balthazar taught me how to direct them from myself like I've known how to do for some time.

"May I ask what's so special about this bench," asked Balthazar as we ate a while later on a bench near the college.

"That's what is so special," I answered as I nodded towards Becky emerging from her shift at the radio station.

"No, no, no," said Balthazar. "There's no time for that and too much at stake," Balthazar censured.

"Balthazar…all work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy. Besides my emotions help me…they fuel my power," I argued.

"If Horvath catches you out on the street you'll die," was Balthazar's reply. "Is she worth that? Think about it Dave."

"Yes she's worth that. I've already started seeing her and we have really connected. I brought you here to explain that," I informed Balthazar before running up and walking Becky home.

"So I caught your show last night," I informed my blonde haired bombshell of a companion as we walked down the stairs into the subway.

"Oh…what'd you think," asked Becky.

"It was amazing. I've never actually heard of any of those bands which is a good indicator that their cool," I joked causing Becky to laugh.

"I'm glad someone was listening…and even more so that it was you," she added.

Just then some asshole jumped out at us with a knife. In a lightning fast move that Becky could barely follow I reached out and grabbed the wrist on the arm that was holding the knife before squeezing until we heard bones crack. I pulled the asshole forward and kneed him in the balls. As he clutched his nuts in pain with his free hand an elbow to the temple rendered him unconscious on the arm.

"How did you do that," Becky asked in awe as she stared at me with wide eyes.

"A beauty like you motivates a man to do amazing things," I replied as I stepped closer to Becky.

She stared up into my eyes as I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers. I felt Becky's mouth vibrate with a moan as she came in my arms due to my aura. Becky definitely felt that spark whenever she was with me.

"Now beautiful I will see you tomorrow so I can help you study for your midterm," I told the breathless female as we broke our lip lock. "I believe this is your train," I added as her train pulled up but would not leave without her as I was holding it in place with my power.

"Thank you Dave…you have no idea how much what you just did means to me," she informed me with bright eyes. "He would have taken my grandmother's bracelet," she added to give me some idea of the importance of the precious bracelet on her arm.

Becky held onto my hand for as long as possible as she walked onto the train before finally letting her fingers slip from mine as she stared at me with affection shining in her eyes.

"Love is a distraction," Balthazar stated as he tried to sneak up behind me. "Sorcery requires complete focus," he added when he didn't get me to jump like he expected. "Let's go thunder and lightning…there's more to learn."

My lab…

"Now focus on control. Set me down slow and steady," Balthazar instructed as he read a book while sitting on a chair I was levitating with telekinesis while two chairs revolved around him.

"Dave it's Becky," called out Becky after she knocked.

Without losing concentration due to the ability of my mind to multitask I gently lowered my master to the ground.

"Dave get back here…we have important work to do," censured Balthazar as I ran up to get the door.

"Hello beautiful," I greeted.

"Hi," answered Becky with a smile.

"Dave," called out Balthazar. "Is that company I here," asked my master as he walked up the stairs.

"Becky this is Balthazar…he's an old family friend," I explained.

"Dave I'm confused…I thought you and I were staying in together," Balthazar said.

"No remember Balthazar you told me you have an appointment with your psychiatrist," I answered as if he were slow.

"Yes and maybe after I'm done I can pick up your anti itch cream," Balthazar replied before walking out.

"We've got this semi-antagonistic relationship going on," I explained to Becky as she barely suppressed a laugh.

A while later…

"Ok that's enough studying for now Becky. You did very well," I praised Becky. "There's something I want to show you."

"What are you building," asked Becky curiously as she ran her hand over one of the Tesla coils.

"I'm building Tesla coils in order to generate plasma. I found something kinda cool. Now step into my cage please," I asked with a teasing grin.

"It's definitely the first time anyone has said that to me," she teased back before stepping inside the small cage.

"Hold onto this bar with both hands please," I asked as I dimmed the lights and activated the control sequence. "Enjoy the show," I whispered into Becky's ear, sending a shiver through her body, as I too grabbed onto the bar.

Becky jumped with a small shriek as lightning bolts began to jump onto the cage we were in while music began to play. Each note was generated by the lightning vibrating through the air, sending out sound waves.

"Oh my gosh," exclaimed Becky in awe. "How is this possible?"

"The coils are firing at such a high frequency that the sparks literally create sound waves as they fly through the air," I explained.

When that song ended I played another one for an amazed Becky.

"You were listening," she told me as she looked at me. "I played this song the other night. It's beautiful Dave."

"Not nearly as much as you," I answered with my most charming grin before leaning over and kissing Becky.

Becky and I had a blast playing through various songs as I activated the feature which actually changed the color of the lightning bolts while adding several other special affects with a holographic emitter. Becky was laughing and giggling the whole time as the bolts connected with our cage.

The next day…

"This is me," Becky told me as we arrived at the door to her yoga class.

"So do you want to meet up later at my lab…say eight o'clock," I asked.

"Yeah that would be great," Becky told me with a grin before leaning up and kissing me sweetly.

I was in the bathroom taking a piss when this poof in shoes that clicked like high heels walked in.

"So you're the one," asked the wannabe sorcerer.

"The one what," I played dumb as I zipped up calmly.

"The prime Merlinian aye," he answered as he walked towards me, his heels clipping all the way. "You don't look like much."

"And you look like a poof," I answered.

He turned and kicked his foot as he telekinetically activated the hand dryer.

"Can't have anyone hearing your girly cries right," he told me with a grin.

He slammed me against the wall when I allowed him to and pushed me up until he held me there with a telekinetic grip which I could break if I wasn't finding this so amusing.

"What do you way a buck twenty," he asked as he walked a few feet away. "I'll tell you what…give me your best shot," he suggested as he held his arms out wide. "Get the ring out and put it on," he added as I did just that.

The Morganian was expecting a magical attack. What he did not expect was me running forward so fast he could barely follow and dropping him with a hard kick to his family jewels. As he dropped I grabbed him around the neck in a sleeper hold until he was unconscious.

"Oh for crying out loud…do I have to do everything myself," asked Horvath as he walked into the room.

"Hello Dave," Horvath greeted in a sinister over the top voice as he walked towards me while I let his stooge drop to the ground. I played scared as he backed me into the wall with the jewel on the tip of his wand glowing blue. "I'm going to kill you," he threatened as he stood less than a foot in front of me. "Where's the grimholde. Where is she?"

"She," I asked.

"Oh he hasn't told you has he…who is inside," asked Horvath. "You put your faith in the wrong man. "Tell me…have you ever been in love?"

"Yes," I answered simply.

"Imagine what would happen if you lost her. You'd be no better than the rest of us," Horvath told me right before I kneed him in the groin as well.

This time as he dropped I grabbed his head and brought his face in contact with my knee. As he lay on the ground clutching himself I bent down and picked up his cane like wand. An evil grin came over my face as I saw the round jewel on the end. With a wave of my hand Horvath's pants vanished as he lay on his front. My telekinesis unerringly guided the jeweled end home in the wand owner's evil ass. Horvath's screams would have filled the building if it weren't for the silencing charms I put up. I calmly walked out of the bathroom and was met by Balthazar.

"I see you can handle yourself," Balthazar said with a grin.

My lab a short while later…

"So what's the prime Merlinian," I asked curiously as we walked down the stairs to my lab. "And who exactly is in the grimholde?"

"Morgana," answered Balthazar. "Morgana…she was making preparations for The Rising," Balthazar explained as he showed me several pages in the Incantus. "…Something that would enable her to enslave mankind by resurrecting dead Morganian sorcerers. She's in the last doll."

"And the relevance to the Prime Merlinian," I asked.

"Merlin had three apprentices. I was one of them," Balthazar answered; something I already knew. "He cast a spell to keep us from aging until we found the sorcerer who would inherit his power," Balthazar said as he looked at me. "And his dragon ring," he added as we both looked at the ring. "Some part of you…no matter how small must share the same blood."

I found it fitting because in several realities I've lived in I've been the heir to Merlin. So it wasn't too far of a stretch that I would be the same in this one.

"Merlin said the only one who will ever be able to destroy Morgana once and for all is the Prime Merlinian," said Balthazar.

"Alright then…saving the world again…so business as usual," I spoke calmly. "Let's get to learning something more potent. Somehow I don't think my current skill level will suffice."

"Now that's the one I've been searching a thousand years for. You are going to set me free," Balthazar said happily.

I understood how immortality could actually be a curse without someone to share it with.

After a brutal magic lesson I sat down on the stairs.

"How will I know when I've reached the stage when I'm ready to face Morgana," I asked curiously.

"The Prime Merlinian will become so powerful within he no longer needs his ring to cast magic. When you're ready to do that you're ready to take on Morgana," Balthazar answered.

If he only knew I was ready now.

"What's that," I asked as I looked over his shoulder.

"The schematic for a fusion spell…the merging of two souls into one body. I've only ever seen one sorcerer successfully pull off human fusion," explained my master.

"So you're going to practice on Tank," I concluded as I looked at the dog.

Apparently possession wasn't that common in this reality.

"Balthazar Becky will be here in ten minutes. Could you please go somewhere else for now," I asked.

He looked hard at me for a moment before replying, "You've worked hard tonight. As a reward I'll give you your time with your girl but when I come back you better be focused."

The place was a mess and I still had to clean up. While I'm in this reality I have tried to use magic native to this universe just in case Balthazar figures out what I'm doing. It would be a lot easier to explain away trying out a new spell from the Incantus instead of suddenly being able to do foreign magic. Remembering a spell from the Incantus I cause the cleaning supplies to become animated before going off to clean myself up.

When I came back from cleaning up I found the lab flooded with the cleaning utensils going wild. Becky knocked right at that moment apparently deciding to be a bit early tonight. With a shrug I apparated over the door and opened it up.

"Hi," Becky greeted me with an excited smile.

"Hey beautiful," I greeted as I leaned forward and stole a kiss. "Becky I think it's time I let you in on a little secret," I told her.

"What is it Dave," asked Becky curiously as I took her hand and led her down the stairs.

"I'm a sorcerer," I answered as I waved my hand to the animated mops.

"As in magical sorcerer," Becky asked in shock.

"Yep," I answered before waving my hand and causing everything before us to halt before the mess disappeared.

"This has to be some kind of hologram or illusion," Becky argued.

"Nope I'm afraid not," before I pulled her to me and apparated us a mile above the city.

"Dave," Becky screeched while clutching tightly to me.

"So do you believe me now," I asked.

"Yes Dave…yes I believe you! Now please take me to the ground," pleaded my date.

With a pop we were back on the ground.

"So when I had an orgasm of some degree every time we kissed…that was one of your magic powers," Becky asked curiously.

"Yep," I answered with a grin. "So are you ok with all of this," I asked.

"Yes," cried Becky excitedly before kissing me hard once more, shuddering through an extra special orgasm.

"So where do you want to go for dinner tonight? The world is your oyster…literally. We can be anywhere in an instant," I suggested.

"Hmm…how about Venice," suggested Becky with a grin that showed off her very white smile.

"I know the perfect place," I told her before wrapping her in my arms and flaming us across the world to a restaurant that is a favorite of my wives in many realities.

Later…

"Dave…I so want you right now," Becky purred hotly into my ear as we were rowed through one of the Venice water filled canals in a gondola. We just came from a very romantic dinner where I answered all of Becky's questions.

"Your wish is my command my lady," I told her before we disappeared to a little private island I set up as a getaway in this reality.

Well Aristotle set it up but it was at my orders. We appeared in the master bedroom of the house I had built there.

AN2:

I should have the second part up in a few days. Just as an FYI I believe it's the next verse where I switch back to Third Person, Past Tense. I have come to hate first person with a passion. So from then on out it will be third person. I'm currently working on converting the entire path series to this format but it is very slow going, even with the help of my fantastic beta Pyrgus. I'd like to thank him for putting up with my many mood swings. Without him I doubt I'd get half as much writing done. Also Javacap for providing someone to bounce ideas off of.

If you didn't notice on ficsite and hpfanficarchive I have posted an omake for Oma's Choice which Jacobds suggested I write. It's a very smutty 3800 word omake which Harry/Fleur action.
