Disclaimer: I own nothing of any recognized characters or universes within. If I did Rachel Weisz would have been in the third movie of the mummy series or there wouldn't have been a third movie. And her costume would have been designed to show a lot more skin. Yum.

Females bonded to Harry Potter in this universe:

Evelyn 'Evy' Carnahan O'Connell is played by Rachel Weisz

Anck-su-Namun is played by Patricia Velásquez

1926, Cairo, Egypt, Earth…

Harry came to awareness to find himself being wrestled out of a door into a barred cell that was in a courtyard in an Arab prison in Cairo. He was shoved against the bar and hit in the kidney by one of the guards. Harry ignored the blow as he stared intently at the beautiful woman who stood before him, her arm looped through the arm of a man who Harry's senses told him was her brother.

"This is the man that you stole it from?" Evy asked her brother Jonathan.

Harry picked up the names of the siblings from their surface thoughts but looked at nothing else. The disgusting prison warden Gad Hassan stood off to one side of the siblings.

"Yes, exactly. So why don't we just go sniff out a spot of," Jonathan began to say but was interrupted by Harry.

"Who are you?" Harry demanded. "And who is the beauty with you?"

Evy blushed as Jonathan said, "I'm…I'm Jonathan. I'm just a local sort of missionary chap spreading the good word and all that."

"Now I recognize you. You stole something from me," Harry said even as Jonathan drew closer.

Harry had assimilated his counterpart's memories by then and with perfect recall knew this Jonathan had stolen an object containing a map to Hamunaptra. Hassan began shouting across the courtyard at that moment and excused himself.

"About that," Evy said as she stepped even closer to the bars than her brother. "Could you tell us where you got that object?"

"Hamunaptra," Harry replied.

Evy's eyes lit up with excitement in a way that reminded Harry of his wife Hermione.

"How do we know you aren't full of shite?" Jonathan asked as he stuck his face right up to the bars.

Harry punched Jonathan.

"That's for stealing from me," Harry said even as a guard hit him in the back.

"You are saying that you have actually been to Hamunaptra?" Evy clarified as she too stepped over her groaning brother and stuck her face close to the bars, trying to whisper so as not to be overheard.

"Yes, I give you my word," Harry assured with sincerity.

Evy believed the handsome but unkempt man. There was something about him that intrigued her.

"Could you give me detailed directions on how to reach Hamunaptra? Unfortunately the map we found in your puzzle box was vague," Evy said.

Harry gently grabbed Evy by the back of the neck and pulled her lips to his for a kiss that saw an orgasm explode from her nether lips. Evy moaned and gasped even as Harry was hit again by the guards. Harry backhanded the first guard in the face knocking the man out cold.

"Get me released and I will personally take you there," Harry promised as Evy's eyes cleared somewhat of her expression of rapture.

Harry allowed himself to be drug away by the guards. A short while later he found himself being led up to the gallows. Prisoners stood behind bars on walkways overlooking the gallows. Harry's superb hearing allowed him to tune the prisoners out and listen to the conversation between Evy and Hassan.

"I will give you one hundred pounds if you will not kill this man and turn him over to me," Evy offered Hassan.

"I would pay that much just to see him hang," Hassan replied.

"Two hundred pounds," Evy offered.

Evy was appearing entirely too eager but then again she did think Harry was about to die by hanging.

"No," Hassan said.

"Three hundred pounds," Evy tried as the noose was tightened over Harry's neck.

"Any last requests pig?" The guard tightening the noose asked.

"Five hundred pounds," Evy tried.

Hassan paused the process at this point and asked, "And what else? I'm a very lonely man."

As he said this Hassan put his hand on Evy's knee. Harry decided Hassan's death would be very painful. Evy smacked Hassan's hand away and the prisoner's began laughing at the warden. Hassan responded by screaming for the execution to continue in Arabic. Evy stood and screamed no in protest. Harry dropped through the trap door and hung there comfortably by his neck. He proceeded to snap the bindings on his wrist and then gripped the rope pulling himself back onto the platform to the shock of all those who watched.

"Hassan, I suggest you take the beautiful woman's money before I decide to show you just how much I have enjoyed my stay here," Harry said in a dangerous tone. "In fact, I think you should come along on our journey. You don't want to miss out on finding the city of Hamunaptra which I know the location of."

At that moment one of the guards tried to club Harry in the back. Harry caught the descending arm by the wrist and tossed the man attached off the platform and fifteen feet away. It wasn't an asburd display of strength but it did prove Harry was stronger than was normal.

"Let him go," Hassan ordered.

The Next Day, Cairo Docks, Bank of the Nile…

Harry overheard Evy asking her brother, "Do you really think he is going to show up?"

"Yes, undoutedly. O'Connell may seem like a cowboy but he is most likely like the rest of his breed. They abide by their word," Jonathan answered.

"I find him to be something of a scoundrel," Evy said while thinking something different. "I just wish he wasn't so delicous."

Evy's thoughts were projected so loudly Harry couldn't help but pick up on them even though he hadn't been looking.

"And who might that be?" Harry asked as he chose that moment to make his presence known and causing the two siblings to turn to look at him.

Evy did a double take as she saw him looking all clean cut and well dressed.

"You look much better than yesterday," Evy couldn't help herself but to point out.

"You look just as beautiful as yesterday," Harry assured Evy.

"Mr. O'Connell," Evy began.

"Call me Rick, Evelyn. You don't mind if I address you as Evelyn?" Harry asked.

"No," Evy answered. "But I wish we knew each other well enough for you to call me Evy," she thought. "I would like an honest assurance that this isn't some kind of shenanigan. I want to know that we are really going to the locatino of the lost city of Hamunaptra."

Harry took a small step closer to Evy and looked deep into her eyes.

"You know I am telling you the truth Evelyn. We are going to Hamunaptra. Just stick close to me. This journey can be very dangerous. And then once we get there it can be even more dangerous," Harry cautioned.

Evy was distracted by the gaze of the gorgeous rogue before her.

The moment was broken by Jonathan saying, "Perhaps we should both stick close to you, Rick."

"Evelyn, I have your bags," Harry announced as he picked up her bags and walked up onto the river boat.

Harry sensed the arrival of Hassan. The man's essence just oozed with his distasteful nature. But Harry knew Hassan would die on this journey. If some outside force didn't take care of Hassan then Harry would intervene. For that reason Harry could tolerate Hassan's presence on the expedition.

Later that night on the boat…

Harry came out onto the deck of the boat to see a group of Americans playing poker with Jonathan.

"O'Connell, we could use another player," said Corey Daniels.

Daniels was a dark haired American. Also seated at the table was another dark haired American wearing glasses named Tuc Burns and a blonde American named Stephen Henderson.

"I'm not into poker," Harry answered.

"How about a good honest bet then," Daniels suggested. "I will bet you $500 our group will arrive at Hamunaptra before your group does."

"What makes you think we are going to Hamunaptra?" Harry asked although he already suspected the answer.

"Your friend Jonathan here told us," Henderson said as a new hand of cards was dealt.

"Well that sounds like a wager worthy of my interest. You have your bet," Harry challenged earning a grin from the three card playing Americans.

"Sir, I would ask you what makes you so confident," said Dr. Terrence Bey.

Bey was the Egyptologist working with the three Americans currently playing poker.

"I could ask you the same question," Harry put back on Bey.

"We have a man on our team who has actually been where we want to go," Burns answered.

"Gentlemen, we have an early day tomorrow. Goodnight," Harry said while clearly giving Jonathan a look to keep his mouth shut.

Harry went off to find Evy. He found the woman sitting at a table on a secluded section of the deck reading a book. Harry set his bag of gear down gently and Evy looked up at him over the pages of her book.

"Good evening Mr. O'Connell," Evy greeted.

"I insist you call me Rick," Harry said. "We've discussed that once before."

"Sorry. I find the need to address people who irritate me formally," Evy said.

"What have I done to irritate you?" Rick asked.

"Oh just by behaving like all other men over there drinking, gambling, and smoking," Evy answered.

"I was not smoking or gambling but I will admit to agreeing to a little wager with Henderson's group. I was mostly just making sure your brother wasn't revealing too much," Harry explained as he unrolled his leather cash of weapons.

"Are you planning on going to war?" Evy asked as she eyes all of the weapons in the case.

"I saw some pretty nasty things the last time I was at this place. I believe in being prepared. Why are you wanting to go to Hamunaptra? A woman such as you doesn't seem to be in it for the treasure rumored to be there," Harry said.

"My brother is in it for the treasure. I'm in it for a book or two," Evy answered.

"The book of Amun Ra…the Book of the Dead," Harry said.

"You're familiar with it," Evy said with considerable surprise.

"Yes. I know the legends," Harry confirmed. "Is that book what got you interested in Egyptology?"

"You're very perceptive, Rick," Evy complimented. Evy swallowed and then asked nervously, "Why did you kiss me?"

Looking into Evy's eyes he answered honestly, "Because you are one of the most beautiful women I have ever met. Lips like yours deserve to be kissed frequently."

Evy stared intently into her companion's eyes and licked her lips. She leaned forward slightly as did the handsome man before her. Before anything further could happen there was a sound from behind a nearby crate along with the movement of a shadow. Harry growled and went over to see an old acquaintance named Beni Gabor. Beni had deserted Rick's regiment the last time Rick had been at Hamunaptra.

"Oh…what a surprise Rick…my good friend is alive," Beni said.

"Hello Beni. Now I know who the Americans have guiding them. I'm amazed you aren't trying to leave them in the middle of the desert," Harry said.

"Unfortunately they only paid me half until I get them to their destination," Beni answered.

"Evelyn, if you would be so kind as to return to your cabin I will be along shortly to wish you a good night. I don't wish to have you see what I am about to do to this man," Harry requested.

Evy nodded and then left. Harry swore there was a sway to her hips. As soon as she was gone Harry tossed Beni over the side of the boat. As soon as Beni was gone Harry retrieved his weapons and headed towards Evy's cabin. Harry sensed Evy was in trouble as he reached her cabin. He kicked open the door and found her being held against the wall with the hand of a scarred man in a black cloak around her throat. The man Harry recognized as a Medjai was holding a knife in his other hand prepared to harm Evy.

"Rick," Evy shouted in alarm.

Harry shot the Medjai holding Evy once in each arm while managing not to hit Evy. At the same time the porthole to Evy cabin was opened and another Medjai, this one holding guns, looked in. Evy had run behind Rick as soon as the shots had started flying. They backed down the hallway as Harry laid down cover fire. He wasn't trying to hit anyone.

"Evy," Jonathan shouted as he came running down the hall.

"I forgot the map and the key," Evy said in sudden realization.

"They're right here beautiful," Harry assured as he produced the artifacts in question.

"How did you get those? I didn't see you get close," Evy pointed out.

"Magic," Harry answered with a wink. "Let's get out of here."

"Fine by me," Jonathan agreed.

The trio made their way on deck. On deck the fight had caught the boat on fire. Passengers were jumping into the river. Several of the black-cloaked Medjai were firing at Harry's position. Harry leaned around the corner without fear of being injured and put deadly accurate shots into the hands of each of the enemy firing on his position. He didn't kill them but they would have trouble ever squeezing a trigger again.

"Evy, can you swim?" Harry asked.

"Yes, of course," Evy agreed. "Why?"

"Because we need to swim now. Jonathan, into the river," Harry directed as he wrapped helped Evy over the side and into the river.

Evy dropped into the cold water and kicked to stay afloat even as her two companions jumped into the water as well. Harry helped Evy and Jonathan to get to the shore. He didn't assist Hassan but the little bastard followed anyway.

"We've lost everything we need," Evy lamented. "All of the tools, equipment, and all of my clothes are gone."

"Unfortunately not all of your clothes are lost," Harry said as he eyes Evy's form up and down in her soaking wet white nightgown.

"Rick," Evy whispered somewhat scandalized.

Just then the quartet heard Beni shout from across the river, "Hey, O'Connell…it looks to me like I've got all the horses."

Harry put his fingers to his lips and let out a piercing whistle that carried clearly and loudly across the river. All the horses on the opposite bank spooked and took off before those trying to rangle them could react. Many of the straps the wranglers were using snapped.

"Look again Beni," Harry called while not bothering to point out that Beni was on the wrong side of the river. As Beni threw a temper tantrum Harry said to his companions, "Let's get moving. I know where we can get supplies."

"What made those straps break holding the horses?" Evy questioned as the group started walking.

"Maybe it was magic," Harry suggested.

Evy wasn't sure if Rick was joking or serious.

As Harry and Jonathan finished negotiating for four camels in the village nearest to where the ship had gone down Evy approached dressed in the dark local clothing style with a veil that partially covered her face but which was see-through. Evy smiled at Rick as she noticed him staring at her. It was obvious from his expression that he liked what he was seeing. She felt the same. The group soon took off on their camels with Harry leading the way followed by Evy, Jonathan, and Hassan.

"Camels always make me unhappy. They are filthy, are spitters, they smell, and they bite. They disgust me," Jonathan complained even as Hassan spit behind him.

"I think they are adorable," Evy said happily.

"You just described Hassan, Jonathan," Harry joked. Hassan chose to ignore their guide and started singing in his native tongue. "Try not to focus on those negative emotions, Jonathan. Your camel may sense it and treat you poorly as a result."

"Noted," Jonathan answered.

The quartet of camels trecked on and on through the desert. The heat and sun would have quickly sapped the strength of the mortals but Harry was feeding them low levels of energy as fast as they lost it. Evy received a cooling charm applied low enough that she didn't really notice it. Hassan got very little energy but it was enough to keep him going. After dark Harry sensed a group of Majai leaders watching their progress. He didn't let it bother him.

He was more concerned with the beautiful Evy who had fallen asleep on her camel. She was mumbling adorably in her sleep as she drifted over to him and partially leaned against him. Harry made sure the dark concealed his actions before he flew a short ways off of his camel and onto Evy's behind her. He used his flight powers to keep his weight off the camel so that the beast wasn't overburdened. To anyone looking it might have appeared he had hopped to Evy's camel had their gaze been capable of penetrating the darkness. Evy laid her head back against him and snuggled into his embrace.

Hassan and Jonathan were also falling asleep and Hassan was snoring quite annoyingly. Harry had the brief urge to suffocate the bastard then and there but overcame it. The warden's end would be so much worse. Jonathan used his riding crop to smack Hassan in the face. Harry grinned. Jonathan was good for a laugh sometimes.

Harry's group approached a stretch of desert early the next morning before the sun had truly risen. Beni's group had managed to arrive at roughly the same time despite their setbacks. There were many more people in Beni's group. Some were on horses and some were on camels.

"Good morning my friend," Beni greeted.

"Why are we just sitting here?" Daniels demanded.

"You'll see shortly," Beni replied.

"Remember we have a bet O'Connell," Henderson added.

"Nice camel, O'Connell," Beni said mockingly.

Harry chose to ignore Beni and advised Evy, "Watch the horizon. The sunlight will reveal the way."

As the sun came over the horizon Harry sensed the activation of a ward off in the distance. The first rays of sun triggered the revelation. Harry sent a silent signal to Evy and Jonathan's camels even as he spurred his forward. The beasts obeyed the god amongst them and surged forward faster than they had ever moved before. They felt full of energy and life as Harry fed them with his power. The other group tried outracing Harry's group but they proved insufficient to the task. Evy grinned at Harry as she kept up with him. Waking up that morning to find herself in his arms had been amazing.

As they raced through the ruins of a low wall she felt a thrill of excitement shoot through her at the discoveries they could make. They raced up the path by several obelisks and through a higher wall. Harry led the group over to a camp at the back of the ruins further from the entrance. Beni's group set up closer to the front of the ruins.

"This is a good place to camp," Evy agreed as she saw the statue of Anubis. "According to what we know the legs of that statue of Anubis should go deep underground. And the Bembridge Scholars have speculated that a secret compartment will be below that statue which contains the book of Amunra."

"Evy…I have something for you," Harry said as he produced a bag and handed it to Evy.

Evy opened the bag to find what looked like all of her tools she had brought along.

"How did you get this? This should be at the bottom of the Nile," Evy exclaimed.

"Magic," Harry said with a wink and a grin.

"Thank you," Evy said gratefully before smiling at the man she was interested in.

Harry then walked over to the opening into a chamber below in which a rope had been lowered through. Harry disregarded the rope and simply dropped through the opening.

"Rick," Harry heard Evy shout. A moment later Evy was peering down into the chamber to see Harry standing there holding a torch looking perfectly fine. "How did you do that?"

"I wasn't kidding when I said magic," Harry answered. "Come on down."

Evy quickly shimmied down the rope until she was standing in the chamber. She quickly stepped closer to Rick to get a better look at him and determined he appeared fine. Evy was quite confused. While her mind pondered this new mystery she walked over to one of the mirrors positioned around the room and wiped it clear of the dust and cobwebs. She rotated it until the sunlight reflected between it and the other mirrors in the room, lighting up the chamber.

"That is a pretty neat trick," Jonathan said.

"This is a preparation room for mummies," Evy said excitedly.

Harry led the way further into the chamber and down a passage that led off of the preparation room. Not far into the passage the group was startled by the sound of skittering insect feet. Harry knew what it was and wasn't alarmed. Evy took comfort from his confidence.

"What was that?" Hassan demanded.

"Bugs," Harry answered. "The fire will probably keep them back."

After several more minutes of walking the group reached the legs of Anubis.

"The secret compartment should be hidden here," Evy said.

Just then the echoes of voices playing off the corridor from the opposite direction became discernable.

"It's the other group," Harry assured.

The other group came around the corner a minute later with guns drawn.

"You scared us quite good O'Connell," Henderson said as he lowered his gun.

"Yeah…this place is a bit unsettling," Harry replied. Harry didn't glance at Evy but his voice projected into her mind warned, "There are magical protections on your secret chamber here…defenses that will harm anybody who violates them. I could disable them but would prefer not to toy with them in front of an audience. How about we let these idiots trip the defenses and we can then procure whatever they find after. I don't feel bad about that because we were here first."

Evy was quite startled to hear Rick's voice in her mind but didn't visibly react. She was beginning to believe him about magic.

"Ok," Evy agreed while hoping he could hear her.

"Do mind the curse gents," Harry said aloud.

"Yes, let's be off," Evy agreed as she walked down another corridor.

Jonathan and Hassan hastened to catch up.

"Why did you just let them take your site Evy?" Jonathan demanded.

"Because it was cursed," Evy answered.

"But you don't believe in curses," Jonathan pointed out.

"I'm starting to," Evy rebutted while glancing at Rick.

"Come on…I know somewhere else we can dig from below the statue," Harry suggested.

A few minutes later Evy, Jonathan, and Harry minus Hassan arrived below the statue of Anubis. Hassan was off looking for treasure. Harry began the task of digging up towards the feet of Anubis through the ceiling. He used his power to make sure the top of the tunnel didn't collapse down on his companions as he did so.

Jonathan and Evy were both quite impressed with the strength and speed Rick was displaying as he ripped into the ceiling without bringing it down. Part way through Evy saw him wince. She was immediately concerned.

"Did you hurt yourself?" Evy asked.

"No…I just sensed the wards activating above. Several of the natives just died horribly," Harry explained.

"Oh," Evy said uncertainly. A question came to her mind. "Could you have prevented it?"

"Well yes…by overpowering our friends upstairs and sending them packing. Or I could have disabled the wards with a bit of work. But that would probably involve mucking about with time or at least their minds for them not to notice," Harry answered. "I don't like showing my powers to people I don't know."

Evy wasn't sure what she found so surprising. The mucking about with minds comment was unsettling enough but the casual mention of manipulating time was a whole new type of strange.

"What are you?" Evy asked.

There was no revulsion in Evy's tone, only curiosity.

"I'm a wizard," Harry answered.

"Like a wand waving Merlin?" Jonathan questioned half jokingly.

"When you reach my level the wand becomes unecessary," Harry answered.

When the siblings realized he was serious Evy asked, "Why doesn't the world know magic is real?"

"Because in modern times most practitioners have learned to keep their magic within their own communities. Modern religion has seen to that with the whole witch burnings fiasco," Harry answered.

Harry wasn't sure that what he was describing was how it was in this universe but he wasn't planning on bringing up his extra-universal origins at the moment.

"Alright…but even if it takes a bit of work shouldn't you save those men?" Evy asked.

"Evy…let me explain something to you," Harry said after letting out a sigh. "On this planet there are so many people dying and being born every day that it would be impossible trying to save them all. I would go insane trying. Then there is the fact that there are an infinite number of almost identical versions of that person that exist in the multiverse."

"The multiverse?" Jonathan said questioningly.

Harry explained to the siblings what the multiverse was without explaining he came from there.

"Put in that perspective I am beginning to see what you are trying to explain," Evy said.

"I try to save those that are personally interacting with me and who I like," Harry explained. "But others not so much." He then looked up and examined the ceiling. "I think we are just about there."

Harry vanished the last layer of stone holding the sarcophagus he had spotted through the matter in place. Harry caught the sarcophagus telekinetically and gently lowered it to the ground.

"Oh my…a sarcophagus," Evy said in surprise. "Whoever is in here must have been either someone of great importance or did something very naughty."

Harry vanished all the sand off of the sarcophagus and Evy began examining the inscriptions.

"Does it name the bloke?" Jonathan asked.

"The sarcophagus says He-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named," Evy answered.

"Huh…I knew a guy like that once. Nasty bastard," Harry mused.

"Look…a place for a key," Evy declared while indicating a star shaped opening. "And I think I have the key," she added while rushing over to her belongings and retrieving the key Harry had rescued from the sinking boat.

Before Evy could do anything more than fit the key Hassan's screams came from down a tunnel.

"What is that?" Jonathan demanded.

"Hassan dying," Harry answered while peering in the direction of the screams. "He appears to have had a run in with a scarab which is tearing up his brain." Harry cast a temporary silencing charm on the opening to the chamber. "He'll be dead in a few moments. I just cancelled out the sound."

"How could you know what happened to him?" Evy questioned.

"I can see through solid matter if I want to," Harry answered. "That's how I knew the sarcophagus was here."

Evy blushed at the implications while Harry threw her a lopsided grin.

"You really must not have liked Hassan," Jonathan mused. "But I can't blame you. The bloke did try to have you hanged."

"I think I would like to call it a night for now," Evy suggested.

"Sure…just let me throw up a few wards to make sure the other party doesn't disturb this place," Harry answered.

Evy watched in fascination as her companion placed enchantments around the room. She didn't realize it but he placed a temporary charm on her eyes which allowed her to see his magic. When they reached the rope at the entrance they had used to access the underground tunnels Harry levitated Jonathan up top before wrapping his arms around Evy and floating up top with her.

"Is there anything you can't do?" Evy questioned after they set down on the ground.

"Stick around Evy and you might just find out," Harry suggested. "Now that you both know about me I think it is time we stayed in some nicer accomodations."

Harry gestured and a nice looking tent appeared.

"It's a tent," Jonathan pointed out.

"Go inside," Harry urged.

The siblings went inside and found themselves in a spacious wizard's tent.

"How is this possible?" Evy asked in wonder.

"Magic," Harry answered with a grin. "This is a wizard's tent. Pick a bedroom."

Just then Harry heard the sounds of horses approaching and peered off towards the front of Haminoptra.

"What is it?" Evy asked.

"A group of Medjai appear to be approaching and they look ready for battle," Harry answered.

"What are Medjai?" Evy asked.

"Read this pamphlet on them," Harry said as he conjured said pamphlet and handed it to her. "But stay here. The wards will protect you. I will just nip out and run the Medjai off."

As soon as Harry stepped out of the tent the Medjai came riding in shooting and using their swords. The other party fought back with guns but a lot of the guides began falling to blades and guns. Harry observed the fighting for a couple of minutes without intervening. The Medjai wouldn't even notice the wizarding tent and anything immediately surrounding it given the wards on the tent.

Harry reached out his mind telepathically and sent into the mind of the Madjai leader heading the raid, "Ardeth Bay, leave the foreigners now."

"Who is this?" Ardeth responded mentally as he paused in his attack.

"I think you know," Harry answered.

Harry let Ardeth believe a divine being was contacting the Medjai.

"Enough," Ardeth called aloud to his men. "We will leave now. This was a warning. You must leave this place."

Harry returned to the tent where he found Jonathan and Evy well on their way to getting sloshed on a well-aged bottle of alcohol they found among Hassan's gear. Harry decided to join them.

Jonathan was passed out in his room. Harry and Evy were in front of the tent. Evy wanted to learn how to fight so Harry was showing her how to throw a punch and how to dodge an attack. This task was made quite difficult by Evy's inebriated state.

Harry caught Evy as she fell after attempting to throw a punch at him and helped her to the ground.

"Ok. I think that is enough of that for tonight," Harry said. "So what made you want to come to Egypt?"

"My father was a famous explorer who loved Egypt so much that he married an Egyptian woman, my mother," Evy explained haltingly.

Evy showed a picture from her locket of her parents as she talked, getting quite close to Rick. Evy leaned forward and pressed her lips to Harry's. The kiss was rather needy but Harry liked that. Evy ran her hands along his chest. She so wanted Rick right then.

Harry kissed Evy back and banished some of her intoxication. He didn't completely return her to sober but he made her sober enough that she wouldn't pass out, forget anything, or regret her decisions in the morning.

As the kissing grew more passionate Harry helped Evy to her feet and coaxed her towards his bedroom. Her hands roamed tearing at his clothes. Together they managed to work both of their outfits off.

The lovers curled up in bed and fell asleep in each other's arms.

Evy awoke the next morning to the wonderful feeling of being in her lover's arms. Then the headache hit her from all the drinking.

"Oh…ugh," Evy eloquently said.

"Here," Harry said as he laid his hand on Evy's forehead and banished her headache along with all effects of the hangover.

"You're quite handy to have around," Evy told her partner as he stared down at her.

Evy had turned onto her back. She leaned up and kissed him sweetly. Evy wasn't sure why she had told Rick she loved him so quickly but last night she had truly felt it. There was a kindness in him that she greatly admired mixed with a strength unlike any she had witnessed before.

"Mm…keep that up and we won't be getting out of bed today," Harry warned after the kiss had ended.

"Would that be such a bad thing?" Evy questioned sensuously.

"No, not at all," Harry answered. "But Jonathan might wonder where we are."

"Please…he'll be sleeping for a good number of hours after last night's drinking," Evy replied. "We have plenty of time to enjoy ourselves."

"There is no twisting of my arm required," Harry assured.

The couple came together once more.

Harry levitated the sarcophagus into an upright positioned leaning at a slight angle against the wall.

"I'm so excited," Evy declared as she approached with the key. "I have always wanted to uncover buried secrets such as this. Ever since I was a little girl."

Harry smiled warmly at her.

"I love it when you so such enthusiasm," Harry told her.

Evy grinned. Her grin turned thoughtful as she noticed something that caught her attention on the sarcophagus.

"The sacred spells were chiseled off. These sarcophagi were made often enough to have them in stock in case someone died. The sacred spells were standard on all of the sarcophagi of the period this one was made in. But to chisel them off like this…that would mean the man put in the sarcaphagus was condemned not only in the mortal world but in the afterlife too," Evy explained.

"I'm really curious to learn what he did," Harry mused.

Harry could of course just look into the past or even take a trip into the past but what would be the fun in that. Jonathan took the key from Evy and turned the lock. Harry took Evy's hand and pulled her next to him out of the way of the sarcophagus lid. When it fell away the mummy's upper body shot forward somewhat as trapped gases escaped.

"The decomposition was slowed," Harry observed.

"I've never witnessed a mummy that looks like this," Evy added.

Harry took a scan and glanced at the sarcophagus lid.

"He was put in the sarcophagus while he was still alive," Harry announced.

"How do you know that? Some sort of spell?" Evy questioned.

"Yes…but also look at the fingernail marks he scratched into the lid of the sarcophagus," Harry explained while he pointed at the lid on the floor.

"There is a message scratched into the lid," Evy added. "Death is only the beginning," Evy translated.

"Well he isn't wrong about that," Harry mused.

With Harry's abilities they soon located quite a few scrolls which detailed the accomplishments of the mummy in question, High Priest Imhotep. Imhotep's crimes were also listed. Imhotep had fallen in love with the mistress of Pharaoh Seti I, Anckh-su-Namun. Imhotep and Anckh-su-Namun had partaken in a forbidden afair. When the pharaoh had found out the two lovers had murdered him.

That was not the only interesting discovery that day. Indeed the next discovery was also quite exciting. Harry took Evy off while Jonathan took a nap and led her through twisting passageways in the underground structure without getting lost.

"Where are we going?" Evy asked.

"It's a surprise," Harry replied. "We're almost there."

When the couple entered a dark chamber Harry sent lines of flame out from his fingertips lighting the torches in the chamber.

"Oh my," Evy whispered as she stared at all the priceless treasure and artifacts. "This was the pharaoh's treasure room."

"Yep," Harry answered with a grin.

Evy went over and picked up several gold coins and a small statue.

"This is amazing," Evy said. She stood back up and turned to face her lover with a thoughtful look. "We will never be able to get this out of here without the other party taking it from us. Could you maybe put wards up around here to keep them out so that we can come back and get it a little at a time?"

"I can do even better," Harry assured as he pulled what looked to Evy like a small deck of cards out of his pocket.

Harry set his trunk down and expanded it with a wave of his hand. He opened it and gestured for Evy to look inside. Evy did so and saw that like the tent she was staying in the trunk was larger on the inside than the outside. The space inside the trunk was absolutely humungous. Already there was gold and jewels floating in the center of the expanded space as far as the eye could see. Evy swallowed nervously and stepped back from the trunk. Harry gestured and the treasure in the room began flying into the trunk. When the pharaoh's treasure room had emptied Harry caused the sand to rise up and transfigure into an identical treasure.

"Is this real?" Evy asked.

"No," Harry answered. "The treasure will turn back to sand a few days after a person takes it."

"Could you make it real?" Evy inquired curiously.

"Yes," Harry confirmed. "Money will never be a problem for me."

"That is good to know," Evy mused. "You wouldn't happen to be able to find the library in this place would you?"

"Why yes I could," Harry confirmed.

As Harry led an excited Evy to Hamunaptra's main library she had another thought.

"Just how much of this place can you conjure up a convincing duplicate of?" Evy questioned.

Harry smiled at Evy and replied, "I think I had better make you your own trunk."

Later that night after a day of translation and exploration Harry and Jonathan were sitting by the fire when several members of the other party visited them. Evy was walking back from a walk she had taken. Harry wasn't worried about her because Aristotle had a replicat watching over her. Plus Evy was as durable as any goddess after her bonding even if she didn't know it.

"O'Connell, what do you think these fancy trinkets will fetch us back home?" Henderson asked while he, Daniels, and Burns sat across from Jonathan and Harry on the other side of the fire. "We just wanted to congratulate you fellows on finding a nice gooey mummy."

"Maybe if he is dried out you could sell him for firewood," Daniels suggested.

Evy returned at that moment.

"I found scarab skeletons in Imhotep's sarcophagus," Evy announced. "He must have been eaten alive by them. The ancient Egyptians placed upon him the Hom-Dai which is the worst of all the curses they could put upon him. In my research I couldn't find any time this curse was actually performed. This is because though the victim suffered greatly if the victim was ever resurrected he would have great powers. He would bring with him the ten plagues of Egypt."

Daniels, Burns, and Henderson looked uncomfortable. Considering they were carrying the canopic jars which contained Imhotep's organs Harry couldn't really blame them. They were trying to deny the existence of curses. Having Evy explain this particular curse so vividly made that hard to do.

OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP

Harry knew the instant Evy got out of bed. He mentally watched her as she liberated the book of the dead from the sleeping Egyptologist Dr. Chamberlain. When she returned with the book and proceeded to unlock it with the same key used on Imhotep's sarcophagus Harry stopped pretending to be asleep.

"I can make a copy of that to give back to Chamberlain," Harry suggested.

Evy grinned appreciatively at her partner and said, "I do so love you." As she opened the book she asked, "Do you think this book really works?"

"Some necromantic rituals are real. I don't have a firm grasp on Egyptian magic but I can tell when the spell is being performed if it will work. If you want to read from the book and anything bad happens I promise you I can keep you and Jonathan safe," Harry answered.

Harry didn't mention that after having absorbed Hades' powers that any death based magic Harry was pretty good at working with. He could sense the necromantic energy coming from the book. He didn't specifically look too hard at the book because he wanted to be surprised. When you were as powerful as Harry you got your thrills from whatever possible (well not whatever but from different things than regular mortals).

Evy opened the book and began reading from the first page, "Amun-Ra, Amun-Dei. It speaks of the night and the day. Su-e-ah, ha-ra-muk-tur, sin-mos-ibak-baia. In-mak-piktuai-sit suia. Ya tu eh ya tu eh ya tu eh."

There was a horrible shriek as Harry felt the necromantic energy expand out from the book.

At the cry Chamberlain woke up and yelled, "No! You must not read from the book!"

A rumbling sound could be heard in the distance and everyone began waking up in both camps.

"What the hell is that?" Jonathan asked as he came running out of the tent.

"A plague of locusts," Harry said casually as he helped Evy to her feet and summoned the book of the dead into his hand.

Chamberlain's group took off for the underground passages.

"Come on," Jonathan shouted as he began to run after the group.

Harry took Evy's hand and caused the locusts to pass harmlessly around them as the insects bounced off an invisible shield.

"Don't be afraid. I will protect you from any harm," Harry assured.

Once down in the tunnels Evy asked, "Which way?"

"Let's take a shortcut," Harry suggested. "Grab onto me."

Evy wrapped her hand around her lover's waist as Jonathan clasped his arm. Harry phased them down through the ground into a lower tunnel and over to the left. As they became solid again a mound formed in the sand in front of them.

"That doesn't look good," Jonathan said.

"No, it isn't," Harry agreed. "Run that way."

As scarabs began bursting out of the ground the trio darted in the direction Harry had indicated. Evy ran alongside her mate and noticed he was grinning.

"Why are you smiling?" Evy shouted.

"This is rather exhilarating even knowing we can't die," Harry answered over the sound of the scarabs screetching.

"We can't?" Evy asked.

"No," Harry assured.

"What about Jonathan?" Evy asked.

"He can still die," Harry replied. "But I will try not to let him."

Harry gestured behind them and a barrier of fire briefly flared into existence to slow the scarabs down. They came out onto a ramp leading upwards and part way up Evy and Jonathan stepped up onto a ledge against the wall. The ledge seperated the ramp from the stream of scarabs racing beneath. Harry jumped out into open air and floated there. Evy and Jonathan were leaning against the wall when a secret passageway opened up and they fell back through.

Harry was only moments behind them in entering the secret passageway. He slid down following Evy and Jonathan. Harry touched down to find Evy and Jonathan approaching Burns who had his back turned to them.

"Evy come here," Harry instructed as he peered into the darkness.

Burns turned at that moment to reveal his lack of eyes and tongue. The mummy Imhotep stepped out of the darkness sporting Burns' eyes and tongue reanimated.

"Anck-su-namun," Imhotep said while he stared at Evy.

Harry produced an elephant gun out of seemingly nowhere and proceeded to blow Imhotep's left leg off.

"I'm afraid your brain has rotted too much Imhotep. Evy isn't your dead girlfriend," Harry assured even as he saw Henderson and Daniels had entered the room to see the tableu.

Henderson and Daniels had helped Burns to his feet.

"I suggest we leave," Jonathan urged.

Everyone decided to leave as Imhotep crawled towards his leg while glaring hatefully at Harry. Harry led everyone out of the underground passages with no unplanned detours. They were met up top by eight Medjai holding guns aimed at the ready. Chamberlain was knealing in front of the Medjai clutching at the duplicate book of the dead Harry had made.

Ardeth Bay revealed himself by pulling down the black face covering each of the Medjai wore and said, "I told you to leave. Now you may have brought a curse down upon all of humanity that will kill us all. For more than 3,000 years we have feared this creature."

"If your ancestors had just killed him instead of doing something so stupid you wouldn't have had to fear him," Harry replied. "Let's not point fingers. These idiots may have tripped the curse," he said while nodding at the other group. "But your people are the ones who cast the curse."

"Leave now while we try to find a way to kill him," Ardeth said.

Harry took Evy's hand and led her towards the camp site. It didn't take him long to pack up their tent and then they were leaving Hamunaptra.

Fort Brydon, Cairo…

"Oh my…that is nice in a bed isn't it," Evy said as she tried catching her breath.

"Mmm…yes," Harry agreed as he cradled his nude lover against his shoulder.

The couple had just made love after returning from Hamunaptra. Evy had been fretting over Imhotep so Harry had decided to distract her.

"So what are we going to do about Imhotep?" Evy asked.

"Evy…for future reference please wait at least half an hour after sex before bringing up another man," Harry requested.

"Sorry," Evy said.

"If I wasn't so secure in my masculinity I could develop a complex," Harry joked.

The mental laugh of a replicat was picked up by the god quite clearly.

"A sex god with an inferiority complex concerning his prowess with women," Aristotle declared.

"Quiet you," Harry sent at his replicat even as Evy leaned up and kissed him.

"I am sorry," Evy assured after the kiss broke.

"To answer your question it might be easier to take out Imhotep after he has restored his body," Harry mused.

"How would that be easier? Won't he be more powerful then?" Evy questioned with considerable confusion.

"Yes and no," Harry answered. "He will have access to more power but his invulnerability is stronger until that portion of the curse is complete. Right now he is in a state in between reborn and dead. Beings in intermediate states like that are always trickier to cast magic upon and deal with. Call it a quirk of magic."

"I will take your word for it. So how does he become fully reborn?" Evy asked.

"Well he essentially has to suck the life force out of those who became part of his curse by taking his canopic jars," Harry explained.

"Are you saying Mr. Burns, Mr. Daniels, Mr. Henderson, and Dr. Chamberlain all have to die for Imhotep to be reborn?" Evy clarified.

"No," Harry replied.

"Now I'm even more confused," Evy announced. "What are you saying then?"

"There are ways to give Imhotep what he needs to continue the curse without those four having to die. There are several ways in fact. I've met beings that feed off of life force in a similar way that Imhotep will have to feed off of those four. These beings I met were known as the wraith and could also reverse the flow of life force. I could duplicate their method and supercharge the life force of the four in question. Or I can create synthetic duplicates of the four in question and supercharge these synthetics which I call golems with life force. I actually like that second idea better. That way none of the four are in any actual danger," Harry explained.

"That sounds like a fascinating process," Evy mused. "Can I watch you make duplicates of them?"

"Sure," Harry agreed.

Harry suddenly looked off in the distance as if staring at something only he could see.

"What is it?" Evy asked.

"Imhotep is here…he is with Burns," Harry announced.

"What can we do?" Evy asked worriedly.

"I can save him but you need to stay quiet," Harry instructed. Evy nodded her agreement. "Keep your hand on me."

Evy touched her lover and followed him as he walked through the wall. They walked several rooms over until they arrived to see Mr. Burns, Beni Gabor, and a being wearing a cloak and a mask Evy assumed was Imhotep. The three in the room obviously couldn't detect Evy and her lover. Harry walked up to Burns and laid his right hand on the man's shoulder. Burns still didn't detect Rick. Then the wizard began waving his hand around in a complex motion. Evy wasn't sure what he was doing. Evy was so distracted by what her lover was doing she didn't pay much attention to the conversation between Beni and Burns. But she paid attention when Imhotep took off his mask and grabbed Burns around the neck and then literally began to suck the life out of Burns.

Evy could only watch for a moment as Burns screemed and turned into a lifeless corpse appearing long dead and decayed. She covered her eyes but before she did noticed as Imhotep's flesh regenerated. Harry took his hand off of Burns even as Jonathan, Henderson, and Daniels arrived in the room. The three new arrivals pulled guns and began firing without stopping into Imhotep. The mummy ignored the mortal weapons and advanced on the three men.

"Aristotle, get him," Harry directed.

The replicat currently in the form of a saber-toothed tiger uncloaked at the same time his creator and Evy did. The replicat roared and leapt at Imhotep. The sheer mass of the replicat threw Imhotep across the room. Aristotle's flight abilities saw him throwing Imhotep out threw the window and into the street below.

"What the hell was that?" Henderson demanded.

"A friend of mine," Harry answered.

"I'm so confused," Henderson said.

"I can wield magic," Harry admitted.

"And how," Evy muttered to herself.

"What did he do to Burns?" Daniels whispered in horror.

Harry glanced at the apparent corpses and waved his hand over it. A sleeping and very much alive Burns was revealed with a restored eyes and tongue even as Aristotle leapt back into the room.

"He did not appear to want to stay and fight sir once he realized I was a cat," Aristotle sent to his master.

"Imhotep fled when he knew my friend Aristotle was a feline," Harry announced.

"Cats are the guardian of the underworld. Imhotep is undead," Evy pointed out.

"Indeed," Harry agreed.

Harry woke Burns. Burns looked around for a moment in confusion then realized he could see.

"What happened?" Burns asked.

"Imhotep tried sucking the life force out of you. I simply put enough life force into you in addition to your own to make him think he had succeeded. While he was doing that I also restored your eyesight and tongue. It was not a pleasant process for you so I don't recommend trying that again. I used an illusion to fool everyone into thinking Imhotep had succeeded," Harry answered.

Burns stood up and began to shake Harry's hand profusely.

"You are right in that it was a very bad experience. But thank you for saving my life," Burns said.

Just then the sounds of screams and explosions could be heard from outside. Everyone crowded around the window except for Harry and Evy and looked out. Evy was holding Harry's hand and he activated her ability to peer through solid matter as one of his wives. They could both see the rain of fiery rocks impacting all over the fort.

"Keep anyone from dying," Harry instructed his replicat companion who had cloaked again in the confusion.

"Dispatching more replicats," Aristotle replied.

"Let's head to somewhere we can get more answers," Evy suggested.

Museum of Antiquities…

Evy was intent on heading towards where she hoped to find the museum's curator. Her former boss would hopefully be quite knowledgeable of Imhotep and the lore of the curse Imhotep was placed under.

The group arrived in one of the exhibits near Dr. Terrence Bey's office to find Dr. Bey and Ardeth Bay conversing. The group behind Evy and Harry drew weapons when they spotted Ardeth.

"Easy guys," Harry urged as he waved them off. "I don't think he means us any harm right now. He could have attacked us back at Hamunaptra. It seems you were unsuccesful at taking out Imhotep."

Harry idly noted that Dr. Bey was this universe's counterpart to Sha're's father Kasuf. Harry was quite fond of Kasuf.

"Please enlighten us on your relationship with this man," Evy requested while gesturing at Ardeth.

"I will," Bey agreed.

The group of Americans moved to take seats among the exhibit pieces. Before Bey could protest Harry waved his hand and conjured seats. Dr. Bey and Ardeth appeared quite stunned.

"Are you a god?" Ardeth asked hesitantly.

If one of the old ones was walking among the mortals of Earth once more then things were more serious than the Medjai had believed.

"No. I'm a wizard," Harry lied. "Please proceed with your explanation."

"Ardeth and myself are part of an ancient secret society which has existed for more than the past 3,000 years to guard the City of the Dead. We are sworn at the commencement of manhood to do all that we can to stop the High Priest Imhotep from being raised from the dead," Dr. Bey explained.

"Because of you we have failed," Ardeth stated.

"You could have recovered the book that made the resurrection possible and safeguarded it," Evy pointed out.

"Our ancestors knew of many magical protections on Hamunaptra such as scarab enchantments. It was hoped that in addition to our attacks that the book would be safer where it was," Ardeth explained. "When we attacked a voice spoke into my mind and told me to leave you in peace. I had assumed it was god."

Ardeth looked curiously at Harry as he spoke.

"It was me," Harry confirmed. "You know what they say about assuming."

"No…I do not," Ardeth replied.

"To asssume is to make an ass out of you and me," Harry answered.

Ardeth appeared perplexed for a moment before he got it. His response was neutral while the other Americans sort of smirked.

"I'm rather worried that he thinks I am his dead love Anck-su-namun," Evy said aloud.

"I do not believe he thinks you are Anck-su-namun," Ardeth replied.

"It is most likely he wishes to use you in a ritual as a human sacrifice in order to resurrect Anck-su-namun," Dr. Bey explained.

"His powers are growing," Ardeth declared while looking through the skylight to see an eclipse forming.

"He isn't the only powerful one," Harry said as he raised his hand.

A beam of light that shifted between all the colors of the rainbow shot from Harry's hand and began coalescing in the air a few feet away. The light took the shape of a woman. After half a minute of intense light the brightness faded until standing before the group was a perfect copy of Evy. Evy stepped forward and examined her golem duplicate. There was no intelligence in the golem's eyes.

"This is remarkable," Evy said. "But how will this fool Imhotep? She doesn't look like she has any intelligence to her."

"That is because you aren't touching me. When you are touching me I can merge your mind with the golem so her responses mimick your own. You will be able to control her," Harry explained. "Nobody that I do not allow will be able to perceive you while you are near your golem and touching me."

"Any chance you can do something like that for us? We would prefer not to get our lives sucked out," Henderson suggested.

"Yes. But because you can't really feasibly maintain contact with me I think we can make your golems a little simpler. Your golems only need to come into play for the last minute or two before Imhotep sucks them dry. Your response would be to try to shoot him and then die terribly. I can record those responses into the golems and enchant them into an object so that when you trigger the enchantment the golem takes your place and you become inpercetible. The golem gets sucked dry and Imhotep goes away," Harry explained.

"Sounds great," Daniels replied.

Harry spent the next few minutes working the enchantments he had explained. He enchanted wrist bands with the golems for the two men. In truth he could just create a neural link between the golems and those they were meant to represent. But imposing limitations on his magic like this maked him seem more believably mortal instead of what he truly was.

"Why are you helping Imhotep regain his full status?" Dr. Bey asked as he watched the wizard work.

"Because he will be easier to kill in that state than this half dead half alive state he is in now," Harry answered.

"What about the Egyptologist, Dr. Chamberlain?" Ardeth questioned.

Harry peered out into the city and swept his gaze across until he found the man.

"Imhotep is hunting him as we speak. It won't be long until Imhotep catches Chamberlain," Harry answered. "You all go back to the hotel. Evy and I will go save Chamberlain. Burns, I've made you inpercetible to Imhotep because he thinks you are dead. But you only remain that way as long as you don't activately attack him in an inperceptible state. Don't try to draw attention to yourself. In fact it might be better if you stay away from your friends until after he has attacked them."

As Harry spoke he summoned one of his racing brooms out of his trunk and it appeared floating above the floor.

"You can't be serious," Evy said with a grin.

Harry gestured for her to climb on. She did so and he climbed on behind her. Harry put his arms around her onto the handle between her legs. The invisible saddle charm conformed to her shape. The couple lifted into the air as Evy grinned widly. Then they shot through the ceiling phasing right through the solid matter.

OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP

It didn't take long for Imhotep to go after Henderson without Harry near the mortal. Golem-Henderson worked perfectly as a decoy for Imhotep. Meanwhile Harry and Evy found Chamberlain. The man was running through the streets of the Fort scared of his own shadow.

"What are you?" Chamberlain asked in a quaivering voice as he beheld Harry and Evy flying down on a broom.

"Your one and only chance of staying alive. Imhotep will attack you soon. We need to get you protected," Harry stated.

"Please, I'll do anything," Chamberlain replied.

"Just stand there," Harry directed.

Harry created a Golem-Chamberlain and sent the real Chamberlain off to be with the real Henderson and Burns. It didn't take long for Imhotep to find Golem-Chamberlain and suck the life force out of the golem. Harry and Evy watched for a short time while invisible to Imhotep's eyes before they shot off heading towards the hotel.

"Take us back to the museum instead. I think I know a way to surely kill Imhotep," Evy thought while trying to project her thoughts at her lover and hoping he could hear her.

"Alright," Harry sent back before altering his course of flight. "I will have the others meet us there."

OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP

"How did we end up back here?" Jonathan asked when Evy and Harry touched down in the front entrance of the museum.

"I brought you here. Evy thinks she knows how to end Imhotep," Harry answered.

"How?" Ardeth questioned.

As she headed towards the main staircase leading up to the upper floors Evy explained, "The legends say that the black book known as the book of the dead is capable of bringing people back from the dead. The gold book, the book of the living, can according to legend kill beings even ones such as Imhotep. I think the instructions on where to find the book are up here."

The group paused as they heard many voices monotonously chant, "Imhotep. Imhotep. Imhotep."

Harry, Evy, Ardeth and the rest of the group looked out the main window to see a crowd carrying torches approaching the museum. Boils and sores were present. Harry could sense the mind controlling magic flowing through the crowd.

"They are slaves to Imhotep," Ardeth announced.

"Let's hurry to those instructions," Evy urged. She led the way to an ancient piece of stone with writing on it. She and Dr. Bey immediately began examining the stone. "The Bembridge scholars thought the book of the living was within the statue of Anubis. Obviously they were wrong and that is where we found the book of the dead. But I think maybe they just got reversed which means the book of the living is located within the statue of Horus."

"Evy…I have a feeling now is a good time to activate your golem decoy," Harry urged. "You too Daniels."

Evy concentrated on her bracelet and suddenly her golem duplicate which had been stored inside her bracelet appeared. Evy and Daniels would be imperceptible to Imhotep.

"Let's get to the car," Harry urged. "Don't be alarmed if they catch up with us. We need to make it a convincing fight."

The group made it out to the car. Jonathan had gone ahead to start the car so it was ready for them. As they were getting in Beni showed up at the door to the museum.

"Imhotep," Beni shouted.

Imhotep appeared at the window of the upper floor of the museum and let out a roar as he saw his prey escaping. Harry raised his gun aiming at Beni and blew Beni's left pinky off with pinpoint accuracy. Jonathan drove away as Beni screamed and clutched at his hand. Beni reminded Harry a lot of Peter Pettigrew. A mob of torch wielding natives came running out of the museum after the car but Jonathan was driving away too fast. The streets of the fort were empty until the car encountered a group of mind slaves blocking the entire narrow street.

"Floor it Jonathan," Evy encouraged her brother.

Jonathan mashed his foot down on the peddle and the car shot towards the crowd. Some mind slaves bounced off and some jumped onto the car and tore at the passengers. There were so many of them. The passengers fought back knocking many mind slaves off but more jumped on along the way. Several of the mind slaves managed to pull Daniels-Golem out of the car.

"One decoy down and one to go," Harry sent to Evy.

Evy was floating invisibly on Harry's broom above him as the car moved. Her golem was sitting next to him in the car highly visible. Evy thought her lover was controlling the broom. She didn't realize her own power was energizing the broom's flight charms. Jonathan lost control of the car and drove it into a water barrel. The group jumped out of the car even as a crowd raced at them. They were cornered. The crowd of mind slaves surrounded Harry and his companions. The mind slaves chanted the name of their master.

Shortly after a passageway opened up in the mind slaves and Imhotep followed by Beni came through.

"He has fully regenerated," Dr. Bey whispered.

"Come with me, my princess," Imhotep said in Hebrew so Beni could translate. "It is time to make you mine for all eternity."

Evy corrected Beni's mistranslation through her golem while Harry stared intently at Imhotep. The mummy was fascinating to the god. Imhotep was unlike any undead Harry had encountered before. Egyptian necromancy was very powerful, at least in this universe. Imhotep had no idea he was standing before a god.

"Take my hand and I will spare your friends," Imhotep said while holding out his hand to Evy.

Golem-Evy stepped forward and took Imhotep's hand.

"I agree to go with you," Evy answered.

Beni retrieved a key from Jonathan to open the duplicate book of the dead he had managed to get his hands on.

As he got Evy far enough away Imhotep called to his crowd of mind slaves, "Kill them all!"

"Time to go," Harry said while gesturing at an entrance to the sewers. The cover to the entrance lifted off and the opening enlarged. "Everyone down there."

Dr. Bey drew his sword and made it obvious he intended to fight however futily while everyone else went where Harry told them to.

"I will die like a true Medjai," Bey declared.

"You will be doing that another day if at all," Harry assured. "If you don't go yourself you will be stunned and levitated down that hole. Go."

Considering that method of transport indignant Bey said, "Very well."

Harry watched his real lover float down into the sewer on the broom and followed after her. He levitated the cover back into place and sealed it magically.

OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP

Harry and Evy flew on a broom invisibly next to the magic carpet that carried Ardeth and Jonathan. The others had decided to stay behind. The flight was relatively slow because Harry and company were keeping pace with the sand cyclone generated by Imhotep which carried Golem-Evy and Beni.

"Is he actually the sand or is he in there in human form?" Evy inquired of her lover.

"He is the sand," Harry answered. "Watch," Harry directed while he again activated Evy's abiltity to see through matter.

He also activated her ability to see energies humans normally couldn't targeted to a specific spectrum of magic. Evy watched as the sand saturated with magic coalesced and took up the shape of Imhotep as the sand cyclone stopped on the plateau before Hamunaptra.

"That is pretty impressive. I have to admit that much," Evy suggested.

"To me it is interesting, not necessarily impressive," Harry answered. "How about we let Imhotep know we are here. It will be more fun that way."

Harry stretched out his hand and projected an illusion complete with sounds showing an airplane carrying Ardeth, Jonathan, and Harry piloted by a retired Royal Air Force pilot friend of Rick's. Imhotep stretched out his hand and caused a stand storm to rise up that stretched the width of the plateu. The sand storm chased down the plane while Harry took himself and his companions out of phase. Imhotep's face formed in the front of the sand storm and swallowed the plane. Harry let Imhotep believe he had killed the competition and Imhotep went into the city of the dead.

"Was that impressive?" Evy asked her lover.

"Not really. No," Harry answered.

Evy silently wondered what it took to impress her boyfriend.

OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP – The Mummy – OP

Despite his belief that he had killed his opponent Imhotep collapsed the passageway down to the ritual chamber behind him. Harry waited until Imhotep had cleared the area and cast a spell to repair the passageway. His empathy continued to pick up on the amazement of his companions.

"What are these, ornamental carvings?" Jonathan asked as he spotted scarab shells on the walls.

"Those are enchanted scarab containers. Don't touch them. They are set to trigger and release the scarab within if they sense body heat without the correct energy to neutralize the trigger ward," Harry warned.

Jonathan pulled his hand back as if it had been burnt. He had come close to touching what had already killed so many visitors to Hamunaptra.

"Noted," Jonathan answered.

Harry's head snapped towards the ritual chamber before glancing along the wall.

"There was a trigger ward set to go off if anyone got even close to the scarabs. It wouldn't trigger the scarabs but it did send a low priority alert to the city's ward master office. Imhotep took over the city's wards when he entered. He knows we are here," Harry explained.

"That is not good," Evy said.

The quartet had to pass through the treasure room on the way to the ritual chamber. When they came out into the treasure room and Harry lit up the chamber his empathy picked up on the emotions pouring out of Jonathan. Harry hadn't thought the man had possessed the emotional depth to produce those emotions.

"I think we need to stay here a little while," Jonathan suggested.

"No, Jonathan," Evy told her brother.

"We don't have time to play around," Harry added even as a cloth wrapped arm punched out of the ground.

Mummies, priests under Imhotep, began bursting out of the ground. Harry summoned the Infinity blade to his hand. Harry gestured with the blade and a lance of fire shot out and bisected a group of the mummies. He sent a wave of force at another group. His companions opened fire with their weapons. There were so many mummies pouring into the treasure from other passages.

"Time to go," Ardeth said.

"That way," Harry directed while pointing down one particular tunnel. "I'm taking up the rear."

Harry sent a lance of fire out of his blade which cut down another group of mummies.

"Fine by me," Ardeth agreed as he saw how effectively the wizard faired against the priests of Imhotep.

After traveling down the tunnel a short ways the group came out into a chamber which held the statue of Horus. Harry sent a blasting curse at the ceiling of the tunnel they had just passed through which collapsed the passage. Harry gestured at the base of the Horus statue and the case containing the book of the living broke free. Harry telekinetically freed the book and sent it into Evy's arms.

"Damn but you are useful to have around," Jonathan commented.

"I think we need to take a shortcut," Harry suggested before gesturing at an alcove and causing the wall to blow open into a passageway behind.

Harry led the group through the hole. The group arrived in the ritual chamber just in time to see Imhotep raising his ritual dagger to sacrifice Golem-Evy.

"Imhotep," Harry called while holding up the book of Amun-Ra.

"The book of Amun-Ra," Imhotep said.

Imhotep put down the ritual dagger and walked towards the group.

"Ardeth, Jonathan, free Golem-Evy and take care of those priests around her. I've got Imhotep," Harry assured as he stalked down the staircase he had been standing at the top of while Imhotep approached the base of the stairs.

The high priest had an arrogant smirk on his lips when he realized his opponent's plan. Imhotep pulled his fist back to strike Harry and drove it forward intending to destroy the human with a single enhanced strength strike. But Harry caught the punch by Imhotep's fist and held the mummy in an unbreakable grip. Imhotep stared in shock at his hand before looking at Harry. Harry grinned at Imhotep before backhanding the mummy with his right fist so hard Imhotep flew across the ritual chamber and smashed against the far wall.

"Rashi-mu-lu-kashka," Jonathan shouted after reading off of the cover of the book of Amun-Ra.

After the command had been issued ten mummy guards complete with shields and weapons marched into the room in formation. Jonathan and the others had freed Golem-Evy and dealt with the priests.

"Kill him," Imhotep shouted while pointing at Harry.

The guards leapt at Harry. Harry struck the first aside with his Afinity blade and dodged a second's strike. Harry could have dodged the rest by moving at super-speeds but instead he hit them with a telekinetic blast and drove them back. Imhotep made to move after Jonathan. Ardeth engaged several of the guards. Golem-Evy stepped in front of Imhotep and delivered a spin-kick to his forehead that sent Imhotep tumbling back. Again Imhotel appeared stunned at this development.

The real Evy had taken the book of Amun-Ra from her brother in the meantime and was busy translating the remainder of the incantation Jonathan had started. Evy called out the command and the guardians fighting her lover stopped.

"Thank you," Harry told Evy before striding over and knocking Imhotep back across the room. The high priest had just climbed to his feet. Evy began looking for the incantation necessary to end Imhotep. "There is no hurry, luv," Harry assured. "I can do this all day."

Harry was perfectly calm and serious.

"I found it," Evy declared. "Cadish-mal, cadish-mal, para-dus, para-dus."

Imhotep stared at Evy in horror as she read the incantation. But his attention and that of everyone else in the chamber was drawn to the top of the staircase entering the chamber. A horse-drawn chariot came riding through that entrance. The chariot, its driver, and the horses were glowing blue specters of sorts. Harry could sense the power these specters held in this universe as a death god. The chariot driver rode right through Imhotep and the high priest's immortal essence was pulled from him. Imhotep was now mostly human. He didn't yet realize it though. Imhotep charged Harry once more thinking the spell Evy had just tried hadn't worked. Harry backhanded Imhotep and the high priest shot through the air. Imhotep landed in one of the pits which contained a darkly glowing substance similar to a Stargate event horizon. Only this substance only had one possible connection point, with the underworld.

If Imhotep had still had his immortal powers he could have survived the portal. But without his immortal powers Imhotep's remaining life force was sucked out of his body much like when a wraith devoured its prey.

Harry sensed what was about to happen at that moment. Beni was still alive in Hamunaptra and was about to trigger one of the traps that would see the city being virtually destroyed. Harry had his orbital cruiser extensively scan the city and create a duplicate of the entire structure in a pocket dimension. Harry then switched the two cities. He left the portal liquid with Imhotep's body in the duplicate city location and all of the enchanted black scarabs. He didn't want a bunch of nasty scarabs running around the city. He figured that someday the original city would make a nice gift for Evy when he eventually revealed his true heritage to her. Harry used his abilities to transfer the self-destruct enchantment to the duplicate city.

The city began to react as Beni activated one of the self-destruct triggers. Passageways started to close up. Harry summoned the magic carpet into the chamber even as Golem-Evy disappeared.

"Hop on," Harry ordered.

Harry left duplicates of the Book of Amun-Ra and the book of the dead in the duplicate city because he had a feeling that in the future they would provide more adventure. The carpet flew through the corridors of the self-destructing city at great speeds. Whenever a passagway threatened to close too soon Harry would hold it open with his telekinesis. The carpet flew up out of the city even as the pillars and stone structures on the surface collapsed. When they had cleared the area they turned and watched as huge amounts of sand and stone shifted throwing a cloud of sand high into the air.

"This magic carpet is very useful," Ardeth said.

"Here…you can have one of your own," Harry said as he drew a small carpet out of his pocket and enlarged it.

"Thank you," Ardeth replied. "How do I use it?"

"You will get the hang of it," Harry assured. "The carpet will show you the way."

Ardeth inclined his head and said, "My people are in your debt. May Allah smile upon you always."

"I think our paths may cross again someday," Harry assured.

Ardeth climbed onto the carpet and held on. Nothing happened for a moment but then the carpet shot off while picking up speed with every passing moment. The sound of Ardeth shouting with joy could be heard in the distance.

"You saved my life," Evy told Harry quietly. "Again," she added.

Jonathan's attention was suddenly elsewhere.

"I will continue to do so," Harry assured. "Your life is very important to me, lover."

Harry leaned down and pressed his lips to Evy's. The kiss turned deeper. Aristotle eventually sent Jonathan back to the Fort via transporter after modifying the man's memories to think Harry had sent him back on another flying carpet. Harry and Evy would take their time getting back.

Author's Note 2:

I was not planning on publishing this chapter for some time to come but I created an event on my Facebook group where I asked my readers to help me with a contest. If they reached my goal of 881 likes then I said I would post this verse. The contest involves liking picture #6 in a Christmas Stocking Contest on the Facebook group for Gregg Orthodontics. That stocking was made by my girlfriend's mother and I very much want her to win. I created an event on my FB group but only about a fourth of those I invited responded because I don't think people respond to events that often and FB will no longer allow me to message everyone in a group. This is all explained in a post on my Facebook group.

My goal of 881 likes was not reached in a 48 hour period. Hopefully more people get this message. If my goal of 881 likes on picture #6 is reached by the end of the contest on December 18th I will post the second half of this Path chapter (covering The Mummy Returns movie). Please do not like any of the other pictures because that would rather defeat the point.

I appreciate all of your help. The link to the Gregg Orthodontics contest is in the event on my Facebook group or if you Google Gregg Orthodontics Facebook it's the first hit (in Ashland Ohio) and scroll down a bit for the Stocking Contest post made on December 4th.
