Harry was finally getting the hang of some of the easier systems on the Caretaker's array. The green eyed mage had been exploring the station and trying to decipher some of the advanced technology's secrets. The Caretaker's species had the ability to travel between galaxies and to travel from one end of a galaxy to another in less than a minute. The sensor technology onboard the array was amazing to the eldest Potter. Basically the array sensors opened up wormholes to wherever the operator wished to scan with more conventional long or short range sensors. The wormholes could be manipulated in many ways.
Currently the sorcerer was using the sensor technology to scan several hours ahead of what Voyager's long range sensors could detect. This gave Harry an advanced look at what the Federation ship would be stumbling into. The immortal Potter picked up the wormhole Voyager was approaching hours before Ensign Kim or any other bridge officer would have detected the naturally occurring spatial distortion. An in depth analysis of the wormhole using the array's systems showed the distortion to be rapidly decaying. On top of that the wormhole was temporally displaced, meaning it was a tunnel between twenty years in the past at a point in the Romulan sector of the Alpha quadrant and Voyager's present time in the Delta quadrant.
Harry saw no reason to get the Voyager crew's hopes up for nothing. Without the warlock's intervention the wormhole would not help Voyager at all and in fact would likely depress the crew more. So the skilled sorcerer used the array's more advanced computer systems to make sure the alert about the wormhole and any corresponding sensor reading never reached Federation officer eyes. Voyager flew right past the wormhole that was useless for Federation purposes.
The magician learned during his evening meal with his friends that while he had been studying and then hiding the wormhole from discovery Kes had been busy convincing Kathryn that the Doctor deserved the same privileges as any other Federation citizen and member of Voyager's crew. The blonde Ocampa female had evidently been convincing enough because Janeway agreed to several of the Doctor's requests. At dinner the telepathic wizard could pick up the quite clearly broadcast inner musings of his Captain as she contemplated the apparent sentience and growth the Doctor was showing.
To regain Kathryn's attention the sorcerer brought up the subject of artificial intelligence as a topic of discussion at the dining table. There were many varied and interesting view points. It was just another fun evening in the Delta quadrant for the eldest wizard in existence and his friends.

One of the components of the navigational system broke down onboard the only Federation starship in the Delta quadrant. Unfortunately the component, a columnater, contained an exotic form of matter that normal ship board replicators couldn't reproduce. Harry convinced B'Elanna to let him take a look at the part. Using his wizarding senses the sorcerer determined that the containment field for the exotic form of matter had ruptured and deteriorated the normal matter sections of the component. First the Potter male used his telekinesis to put the exotic matter back into the space where the containment field had held it. Then the skilled enchanter used a modified form of the reparo charm to set the normal matter sections of the component to rights.
The modified reparo charm was part of a suite of spells that had been upgraded by the spell research college to deal with technology in the modern age. This same research college had discovered the way for wizard kind to function and use their powers around technology without blowing said technology up. These techniques were now taught in the standard educational curriculum on Potter's Moon.
Harry made sure to add an additional shielding system around the columnater exotic matter containment field generator. The perceptive scientist discovered that the part had been damaged in the transport from the Alpha Quadrant to the Delta Quadrant via the Caretaker's array. The wormhole generator technology the Caretaker used reacted strongly with the exotic form of matter in the columnater, overtaxing the shield unit. The additional shielding system would compensate for any future travels through similar wormholes. B'Elanna was very appreciative of her mate's efforts and made sure to show him how much she was pleased with him that night in the bed the couple now shared in the warlock's quarters.
B'Elanna and her boyfriend had been growing steadily closer as they gradually spent more time together. Much of their past still remained a mystery but that didn't bother either officer. They both enjoyed a little mystery in their lives. The duo often preferred to live in the moment. The long lived mage knew revelation would come with time and getting to know each other over the following years. Kes continued to grow closer to the couple as the blonde pilot trained the Ocampa female in the medical bay along with the holographic Doctor. Kes also grew more comfortable with how intimate B'Elanna and Harry could be. The couple usually hugged Kes at least once a day, either in greeting or departing.

Voyager's crew came across a class D planet with a system of asteroid rings surrounding it. The Federation vessel's scanners picked up a new element, the 247th known to the Federation. Harry was off duty at the time of the discovery and busy in his trunk lab tinkering with some of the technology from the Caretaker's array. So the magician was not assigned to the away team along with B'Elanna and Ensign Kim which was led by Chakotay to survey one of the asteroids.
The long lived sorcerer later learned that the away team found a cavern filled with class five humanoids, all dead. Under Chakotay's recommendation Janeway ordered the away team to not disturb the burial ground too much. So visual observations only were all that was allowed. Partway through the visual inspection a subspace vacuole opened up within the asteroid chamber. Voyager tried to carry out an emergency beam out but had to perform the operation blind because the vacuole blocked the sensors.
At this point Harry was alerted to the problem due to his sensor array targeted on his lover alerting the warrior that she was near a spatial anomaly. The sorcerer immediately tapped into Voyager's communications and learned that Harry Kim had not come back from the asteroid but instead the transporter had picked up a new body, this one recently deceased. The warlock headed for the infirmary to see if he could assist.
"How were you able to revive her?" Janeway inquired a few minutes later after she arrived in the medical bay.
"She died of a cancerous growth on her brain stem. With Mr. Paris' and Kes' help I removed the tumor and replicated new neural tissue. From there I used the standard Starfleet post mortem resuscitation technique for a class five life form," the Doctor explained.
"Why was she covered with this bio polymer the away team found her coated in?" Kathryn queried.
"The bio polymer was a bi-product of her tissue degrading. It's apparently natural to her species," Harry provided the answer this time.
"So the other bio polymers we found hanging in the cavern like spider webs were…," Chakotay began.
"Were probably the result of other bodies decomposing. In essence Commander you were strolling through dead bodies," the Doctor stated without any sign of emotion, not realizing how ill he was making the Commander.
Before the Captain even had to ask the blonde Pilot used a hypospray injection to wake the alien female.
"You all might want to back away. I am sure she will be quite startled," Harry suggested even as he dimmed the sick bay lights so they weren't blaring in the female's eyes. "Hello…my name is Tom Paris," the warlock greeted the woman in a soothing voice as she looked around at her surroundings in shock.
"I'm Ptera," the female answered. "Who are they?" Ptera questioned as she looked at the Doctor, Kes, Chakotay, and the Captain.
"They are friends of mine. You are safe," the mage assured the female while lacing his voice with a calming charm.
"Where is my brother?" Ptera asked.
"Ptera…you aren't dead," the wizard assured the revived alien as he sensed that she thought she was in the afterlife. "You are quite alive. We've healed your illness. You were transported away from your world. We will find a way to send you back."
The immortal warrior's calming charm seemed to do the trick as Ptera calmly asked questions and answered some queries from the Voyager crew. A further analysis of the asteroid system revealed over two hundred thousand of Ptera's deceased people on various asteroids. That was just the number that hadn't yet decayed. A subspace vacuole deposited a body roughly every two hours before dissipating.
Harry began to study the vacuoles in further detail. Kes was looking after Ptera in the meantime. Shortly after the ageless scientist began his analysis the ship was rocked as a vacuole opened up in Main Engineering close to the warp core and deposited a body. This was only the first body to appear on Voyager but most definitely not the last.
"This is odd," Kathryn spoke up from her own analysis of the vacuole events. "Every time a body appears some kind of neural energy is released and travels into the rings surrounding this planet. The energy is identical to the ambient radiation in the asteroid field."
Harry directed his telepathy to probe the asteroid field and was surprised to find millions upon millions of minds all interacting and thriving in the ring system. The sorcerer called Kes and Ptera to main engineering. The pair soon entered.
"Kes reach out with your mind and probe the asteroid field like I've shown you how," Harry requested of his friend.
The blonde did so as the others looked on curiously before announcing, "There are millions of minds living in that asteroid field. I can sense them all. Ptera's people appear to have evolved a way to survive in some form even after physical death."
"The afterlife," Ptera announced with a growing grin.
Just then the ship shuddered again as another vacuole appeared in the ship.
"The vacuoles are disrupting the warp core's magnetic confinement," B'Elanna announced.
"The vacuoles are attracted to the warp core," Harry informed his companions. "The warp core works by generating a warp field. The field contracts space in front of the ship and expands space behind the vessel. That spacetime curvature in the front is causing the vacuoles to gravitate towards Voyager. That's why the vacuoles have all formed between the warp core and the front of the ship. The back half repels them."
"I see where you are going with this," B'Elanna spoke up. "But we can't maintain an even inverse curvature around the entire ship. Starfleet has been studying that idea for years trying to perfect a shield using that method. Such shields would be damn hard to penetrate."
Harry didn't tell his crew mates that the people on Potter's Moon possessed such working shield designs. Instead the magician brought up a design on his computer.
"I've been working on it and I think I have come up with a way to do just that. This generator module will adapt our current warp field generator to project a bubble around us. We won't be able to go to warp in this mode but later on we can build a separate generator. The new module should only take a few minutes to replicate and install," Harry explained.
"Try it," an excited Kathryn urged.
A few minutes later the unit was installed. No more vacuoles formed inside Voyager.
"Well Mr. Paris do you have any more brilliant ideas to retrieve Ensign Kim and return Ptera home?" Kathryn inquired after she had finished examining the performance of the new systems on her console.
"I do," Harry answered, causing the redhead, B'Elanna, Kes, and Ptera to listen intently. "The vacuoles are short 'distance' wormholes that pierce the barrier between this dimension and the next. I've designed a modification to the transporter that will allow us to generate a warp like field and transport through it. This field will enlarge the natural wormholes that pervade our universe but only enough so that a transporter beam can get through."
"Then you can transport to Ptera's world to retrieve Ensign Kim," the science loving Janeway finished.
"Yes," Harry confirmed.
"I suppose you will want to be the one to go," Kathryn guessed.
"Yes I would like to go," the ageless male answered. "Harry is my friend."
"You will have earned the right if you can pull that off," Kathryn agreed. "You can use anyone you need to get that modified transporter module installed."
"I will have all the help required with B'Elanna's assistance," Harry assured his Captain.
B'Elanna let a small smile come to her lips at her boyfriend's confidence in her abilities. The truth was that even though B'Elanna was considered among her peers to be something of a genius she often felt eclipsed by her mate's brilliance. The green eyed Pilot's mind seemed to make connections that were beyond the part Klingon's grasp. But if B'Elanna asked nicely enough her favorite male would usually explain to her how he accomplished one of his astounding feats of thought.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Kathryn inquired of the handsome Pilot she had already come to think of as a friend in the short time she had known him.
The truth was as far as Kathryn Janeway was concerned that Tom Paris might be the best chance for Voyager getting home given the genius the young man had shown so far.
"I will be fine. I will be back with Harry before you know it," the wizard assured as he stepped onto the transporter platform with a nervous Ptera.
"You can begin the transport Ensign," Harry instructed the transporter operator, a former Maquis.
"I'm locking onto the coordinates you provided Sir," Ensign Seska announced. The coordinates were taken from scans of several vacuoles. "Initiating transport," Seska added a moment later as the wizard and other dimensional alien were shot through the wormhole that was enlarged but still too small for the human eye to see.
The two travelers arrived in one of the structures where Ptera's people went to die. The alien culture celebrated death as a journey into the afterlife or next emanation as they called it. The members of the different culture sometimes terminated their lives for the smallest reason and then had their bodies sent through the vacuole.
"Ensign Kim is this way," Harry announced while pointing in a particular direction and scanning with his tricorder.
Ptera followed the magician as he made his way towards his wayward friend. Halting just outside the closed door to another chamber, the immortal paused and signaled Ptera to be silent. The pair listened to a conversation taking place inside.
"It is simply not possible…we don't even understand how you arrived here," a foreign male voice announced.
"Then maybe I can figure out a way to get back. Let me take a look at one of those senitaphs," argued Ensign Kim.
"There is no time for that. Word about you has spread incredibly rapidly Harry…not only in the scientific world but in the community at large. There are many people who are nervous about what you represent. Some even see you as a threat to their beliefs about the afterlife. We need to take you to a more secure location. It's for your own protection," the other male explained.
The two listeners were suddenly confronted with an older male member of Ptera's species as the door into the chamber they were listening in on opened. The skilled battle mage wasted no time in stunning the male alien with a phaser.
"Tom," the Asian Ensign cried in relief. "How did you get here?"
"Oh you didn't think I wouldn't be able to find you in your little game of hide and seek did you Harry?" The Potter male teased. "We should probably hurry up and get out of here before any more curious members of Ptera's species decide the best way to study you is through dissection."
"You won't get any arguments out of me," Mr. Kim agreed.
"You'll be alright here Ptera?" The warlock inquired.
"Yes, thank you for getting me back Tom," Ptera assured her handsome savior.
"Tell your people what we told you about the neural energy living on around your planet in another dimension," the magician urged. As Ptera nodded the sorcerer grabbed his friend's arm and activated a subspace beacon which was the recall signal for Voyager to transport the pair back.
Moments later the two Earth born males were standing back onboard their vessel on the transporter platform.
"I knew you could do it," a smiling Janeway announced.
"Just how did you do it Tom?" Kim questioned.
"That is a long story. We will tell you about it over a cup of coffee," Kathryn suggested as she led the way out of the transporter room towards the mess.
Stories were exchanged over a caffeinated beverage. Janeway ended up giving Harry Kim a few days off to reflect upon his experiences. After hearing of the Asian Ensign's time spent on Ptera's world the sorcerer took a little trip back in time a few hours. Once the immortal male had visited a place he could generally apparate there. If the location was in another dimension it made no difference. Apparation after all was taking a shortcut through another dimension via a wormhole. The crafty eldest Potter visited the male who had befriended Harry Kim during the Ensign's short time in the other dimension.
The alien male, Hatil, was scheduled to die because his family didn't want to be burdened by him anymore. Harry healed Hatil before helping the alien relocate to live in the mountains with some friends. Any family that would kill off their relative to relieve their burden didn't deserve his company. The mage then warded the regions where the vacuoles connected against permitting the admittance of similar individuals such as Hatil. Only those who were suffering and had no other alternative would be allowed to use the vacuole facilities. With his work done the magician returned to Voyager.

The senior officers were called to the bridge when a distress call came through.
"Report Commander," Janeway ordered Chakotay as she stepped onto the bridge.
"The subspace distress signal is coming from a vessel bearing one two five mark one, distance two hundred thousand kilometers," Chakotay explained.
"Captain the sensors indicate there are five life forms onboard," Harry Kim announced.
"The vessel is altering its course to intercept us," Tuvok added.
"Go to yellow alert and slow to impulse. Hail the vessel Mr. Kim," Kathryn commanded. An image of a male in brightly colored clothes and some kind of wire head dress was projected onto the main view screen. "This is Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Federation starship Voyager. What is the nature of your emergency?" Kathryn inquired.
"We have no emergency," the alien male answered.
"But you are sending out a distress signal," Kathryn pointed out.
"Yes we are," the alien agreed.
"Why?" Janeway demanded.
"It is you who are in distress," replied the alien. "I am Gath Labran of the planet Sikarias. Please, let us welcome you to our system and show you the hospitality of our people."
"That is very kind of you," Kathryn began, preparing to decline from the tone of her voice.
Cutting the redhead off Gath announced, "If I could come onboard your ship I have gifts for you and a proposal I hope you will find irresistible."
After a moment's thought and positively brimming with curiosity Janeway ordered, "Mr. Tuvok, make the necessary arrangements to receive our guest."
As it turned out Gath's people had heard about Voyager from the natives of that part of the galaxy and decided to come sate his curiosity by meeting the Federation vessel. Gath offered to host the Voyager crew for a vacation on his home world. Janeway was convinced to accept. Voyager soon reached the Sikarian home world. Harry was among the first along with B'Elanna and Kes to transport down to a colorful marketplace. While Gath was keeping the Captain occupied Mr. Kim was hitting it off nicely with an attractive Sikarian scientist named Eudana. That night a feast was being held in the Voyager crew's honor.
While on the planet the skilled mage took a short hop back in time while under invisibility enchantments and gathered some intelligence, in the form of the entire Sikarian knowledge database. Like the many times the mage had gathered such databases before he used his telepathy to gain enough understanding of the species' technology in order to interface properly with their data storage systems. The Sikarians were quite advanced, on par with the Federation in many ways. Some Sikarian technology was superior to the Federation and some of the alien species' science was inferior to that of the Federation's understanding of the universe.
At the feast that night Harry was sitting between Kes and B'Elanna enjoying their company when he noticed his Asian friend sneaking off towards a transporter platform with Eudana. The telepath could sense that both the Ensign and Sikarian were attracted to each other but that Mr. Kim's inhibitions would get in the way. With a casual flick of his wrist the warlock sent an invisible lust spell at his friend and Eudana.
When the rest of the crew returned to Voyager Harry took another trip back in time to keep a watch on Kathryn. The Captain was still talking with Gath.
"And tomorrow night you must let me take you to the theater," Gath insisted.
"Oh my, I've lost all track of time. My crew is gone and I am the last one on the planet," Kathryn declared.
"I hope that is because you are enjoying yourself," the magistrate stated as he leaned in towards Kathryn.
"I am," the redhead agreed.
At that moment it looked as if Gath was going to kiss Kathryn. The sorcerer drew forth his power and cast his will skyward. The heavens split with powerful cracks of lightning and thunder, causing Gath and Janeway to jump in fright, breaking the moment. Harry telepathically directed Gath to make an excuse for duties he had to attend to elsewhere. Kathryn returned to her ship somewhat relieved that nothing had happened and also somewhat disappointed. The fiery redhead had been frustrated of late with dreams of her gorgeous Pilot with no way to relieve her desires but her own devices.
Ensign Kim returned to Voyager in a fantastic mood and not just because of the amazing time he had just spent making love to a beautiful female. As the Asian Starfleet officer's mind cleared he sought out his Captain and informed her of the platform which folded space. The attractive Kathryn immediately called together her senior officers to discuss the new revelations.
"The device you are speaking of is called a spatial trajector by the Sikarians. But this wouldn't work for us. The Sikarians use the quartz mantle of their planet as a focus for a field of neutrinos and anti-neutrinos. Federation technology isn't at the point yet where it can handle the anti-neutrino field," Harry announced to an amazed room of officers.
"You knew about this trajector?" Kathryn inquired in confusion.
"Captain…you know of my past. I tend to gather as much knowledge as I can wherever we go. I have all the designs and data on the trajector technology. I will upload it to the ship's database after this briefing is over. There is another aspect of the Sikarians I have learned about that you should all be aware of. The Sikarians are a very shallow people by our standards. They claim to gain pleasure by giving to others but this is just a way to make themselves feel good. The Sikarians are always motivated by pleasure. After a while they grow bored and move on," Harry explained to his companions.
Kathryn remembered who she was talking to. Tom Paris from his record was an astoundingly accomplished intelligence operative. Of course the handsome Pilot would be able to gather information about the Sikarians if he chose to.
"I too have also noticed the fickleness of their moods," Kathryn agreed while several other officers voiced their own observations of the Sikarians. "We will study the data you have on the trajector technology Mr. Paris and decide what to do from there."
"I can't believe you didn't tell me about the trajector," B'Elanna declared as soon as the couple had reached their quarters.
"I didn't want to get your hopes up unless I was sure it was going to work. I was planning on revealing it to you no matter what once I examined the data on it. I also just acquired the information and was examining it myself not long ago," Harry explained to his mate as he uploaded the data on the trajector into the database.
B'Elanna's expression softened as she fought down her Klingon aggressiveness and sat down beside her boyfriend.
"I'm sorry I got testy with you. I just thought the trajector was our way home," the gorgeous hybrid explained.
"We will get home, B'Elanna. You can be sure of that. Don't worry about snapping at me. I'm a big boy and can take it," Harry assured B'Elanna while pulling her into his lap.
"Mm….yes I can certainly feel how big of a boy you are lover," the dark skinned engineer asserted as she ground herself against her man's bulge.
The couple spent a few enjoyable hours working off their frustrations while the rest of the Voyager crew came to the same conclusion as the genius Mr. Paris had about the trajector technology. The new science had definite potential but without further experimentation adapting it to work with Federation vessels Voyager wouldn't be making any forty thousand light-year jumps anytime soon. After finishing collecting seeds from their hosts' diverse assortment of edible plants and bidding their new friends goodbye Voyager pressed on towards the Alpha quadrant and home.

Stardate 48658.2…
Voyager was currently orbiting an M class planet in its path where an away team was on the surface looking for any edible food to add to the ship's stores.
"Captain, I think there is another vessel out there," Harry announced after his advanced sensor array within his trunk alerted the mage to the other vessel's presence. "Mr. Tuvok could you run a lateral EM scan on coordinates eight one mark four zero."
"What do you see Mr. Paris?" Janeway questioned as the Chief of Security ran the scan.
"A reflection in low orbit when the object moves in front of the sun," explained the magician.
"Mr. Paris is correct. There is an ionization trail from another ship in orbit," Tuvok concurred. "The other vessel does employ some kind of masking circuitry that has affected our sensors."
"I've come across this before," Harry spoke up. "This is Cardassian technology," Harry declared which caused silence on the bridge.
"Cardassians…something isn't right here," Janeway announced. "Tuvok recall the away team. Mr. Paris, could I talk to you in my ready room?"
Tuvok added, "Captain I just sent out a polaron burst which revealed the ship design momentarily. It is a Kazon vessel."
"All the more reason to recall our away team," Janeway commented. "As soon as the away team is back onboard get us back on course," the Captain ordered Harry's temporary replacement at the helm before leading the way into her ready room. Once the door was closed Janeway questioned, "Was that Cardassian cloaking circuitry something you have encountered in your intelligence gathering?"
"Yes, which is why I knew to look for that particular flaw," Harry explained. "Obviously the Kazon didn't listen to whichever Cardassian gave them that technology to stay out of low orbit of any planets. The Cardassians have been using that technology to fool Federation vessels for some time."
"You think we have a spy onboard," the perceptive Kathryn surmised. "And you think the spy is Cardassian."
"Yes and it would make sense that the spy would be part of the Maquis crew that joined Voyager. The Cardassian was likely a spy hoping to gain Intel on their enemy. I can investigate this quietly Captain but I suggest you don't let onto Commander Chakotay what I am doing. He might accidentally tip off the spy," offered the Pilot.
"Investigate and I will only tell Tuvok," Janeway instructed before the pair rejoined the bridge crew.
In the pair's absence it was discovered that Ensign Seska was missing for a short period on the surface but was quickly located in a cave where she had ostensibly been picking mushrooms. There was a short firefight with several Kazon before the rescuing Chakotay and Seska were able to make it back to Voyager. The sorcerer wasted no time after his shift ended shortly thereafter in investigating the potential of a spy. As the one in closest contact with Kazon on the surface Seska was the magician's first choice.
Harry didn't dick around. The sorcerer simply apparated into Seska's quarters while invisible and stunned the female. If Seska wasn't the spy then the mage would obliviate any trace of his presence from her mind. But a telepathic scan revealed Seska to be the spy and quite a piece of work at that. Seska had traded the Kazon a food replicator module for influence with their leaders. The Cardassian female was trying to build a power base in the Delta quadrant. Seska was not unattractive in her current form which was genetically altered to hide her Cardassian nature. Chakotay had something of a relationship going on with the spy who was using her training to manipulate the Native American man.
The eldest Potter actually liked Chakotay so would do the man a favor. Roughly an hour spent in Seska's mind had a complete alteration in her personality accomplished by the skilled telepath. Seska was now devoted completely to Chakotay. Seska would keep all her training and memories but now would use those talents to aid Voyager.
After leaving Seska's quarters the warlock was called almost immediately to the bridge along with all of the other senior officers due to a distress call from a Kazon vessel. After checking as much as could be checked from a distance for traps the Captain ordered Voyager to the site of the stranded vessel. As an added precaution Janeway decided to include her well trained and accomplished Pilot on the away team.
The group transported onto a ship in disarray and immediately began running scans with their tricorders. Soon the Voyager team found quite a few Kazon bodies merged with the damaged ship's interior.
"What could do something like this?" B'Elanna asked in horror.
"A cascade failure from an improperly shielded replicator," Harry suggested to his lover.
"I am showing high levels of nucleonic radiation centered in that area," Chakotay announced while indicating an area around the bridge.
"That supports your theory," B'Elanna pointed out, agreeing with her mate. "But the Kazon don't have replicator technology."
"You are right…but that doesn't mean they didn't try to acquire it, hence why we have this incident. There is a force field protecting us from the radiation," Harry pointed out as he walked to another part of the bridge and located a still breathing Kazon.
The skilled enchanter cast a spell on the barely alive Kazon which made the male alien appear dead to tricorder scans. The warrior mage also made sure the injured alien wouldn't feel any pain by putting the dying male into a deep coma.
A live Kazon would complicate things for Janeway. The Captain would feel the need to try to save the thieving alien. Harry would make it easier for the redhead by concealing the existence of any survivors. Of course judging from the Kazon's injuries the red skinned alien wouldn't be living for long without intervention. Most of the alien's blood was fused with matter from the replicator. It was just unfortunate that Seska had informed the Kazon about the replicators onboard Voyager in order to have a bargaining chip for the building of her power base in the Delta quadrant.
"This console has a trace of a neosorium composite," B'Elanna announced as she indicated a ruined device. "I have only heard of the Federation using that technology. This would be your replicator Tom," the hybrid suggested.
"That console is in the shielded portion of the bridge. We can't get to it easily without flooding this area with radiation," Chakotay pointed out.
"This ship is in possession of stolen Federation technology and there is nobody left alive. There could be recordings of their experiments with this apparent replicator. I say we set the self destruct on the ship and leave this space," Harry suggested.
"I am inclined to agree but we will go back and present our findings to the Captain and await her orders," Chakotay announced.
The away team transported back onboard their ship and presented their findings to Janeway. The Captain concurred with her Pilot's assessment and ordered Tuvok and Chakotay to set the self destruct. The blonde sorcerer stayed behind in the Captain's ready room once the other two officers had left.
"Did you have something else to add Tom?" The redheaded woman inquired of the handsome male.
"Yes, I managed to recover communications logs from the Kazon vessel's computer. I found communiqués between Ensign Seska and the Kazon selling them technology in exchange for influence with their leaders. When the Kazon wanted to know why she would betray her crew Seska revealed that she isn't actually what she appears to be. Seska is a Cardassian spy who has been genetically altered to infiltrate Chakotay's Maquis operations," Harry explained.
"Chakotay will be devastated," Janeway observed as she digested the startling news.
"Not necessarily. I know certain…reprogramming techniques which will make sure Seska's allegiance shifts to the right source," Harry suggested. "Give me a few hours with her and nobody will ever have to know about her past or this incident with the Kazon. She will be a loyal member of Voyager's crew and you will have another intelligence operative in your list of resources."
"You have done what you have promised up until this point Tom. I trust you with this. Do what you need to do. We simply don't have the facilities onboard this vessel to deal with a Cardassian spy when a significant portion of the crew was at war with her people," Kathryn said, agreeing with his plan.
Voyager was soon on its way back towards the Alpha quadrant while the Kazon ship was atomized via its self destruct. After finishing pretending to reprogram Seska, the sorcerer headed back to his quarters only to find Kes on his bed clutching her knees and shivering.
"Kes…what is wrong?" Harry demanded as he jogged forward and pulled the frightened young woman into his arms.
"Neelix…he…he's haunting me," Kes stuttered out.
The sorcerer extended his senses out of his body throughout the Earth based vessel and located the spirit Kes was so disturbed by. Harry had hoped the spirit had moved on in the time since Neelix's death.
"He said I had betrayed him. He said that I had run straight into your arms after he died," Kes sobbed into the Pilot's shirt.
"Shh…shh…it's alright Kes. You know in your heart that you didn't do any of that. You just rest and I will make sure you aren't bothered again by any ghosts from your past," the ageless wizard soothingly told the young beauty while enchanting her into a sleep and laying her on his bed.
Once Kes was resting comfortably; Harry apparated straight to her new quarters. The blonde Ocampa female had given up her old quarters which had memories of Neelix and had taken up quarters next to the green eyed Pilot's room.
"Hello Neelix," Harry greeted the ghost calmly.
"Paris," the jaded spirit of Neelix declared with a sneer. "Come to rub it in that you stole Kes?"
"No, I've come to ask you to move on and let Kes do the same. For god's sake man…you barely knew her. I knew you were possessive but to haunt her…," the warrior trailed off not wishing to continue arguing with the spirit.
Harry was growing more impressed with Kes' physiology as time progressed. The fact that the telepathic young woman had been able to see the ghost let alone hear him was quite an accomplishment.
"I won't let her forget how she betrayed me," the ghost promised with another sneer that didn't fit on the normally jovial Neelix's face.
"I am sorry you feel that way," Harry announced before waving his hand and sending a binding spell at the lost soul.
Neelix wailed in his energy cage before the magician added a silencing spell.
"You are going to learn to forgive and forget before you can finally rest in peace Neelix," promised the sorcerer before starting to chant while summoning his immense power.
Some minutes later a golden glow which had slowly been building around the caged spirit culminated in a bright flash before clearing away, leaving a more solid looking Neelix.
"What did you do to me?" Neelix demanded.
"I have both cursed and blessed you in a way. Until you can learn to let go of your corporeal existence and realize that matters of the flesh are no longer your concern you will be forced to go from Vidiian to Vidiian. Those Vidiians you encounter who haven't participated in the harvesting and murder and who are mostly still innocent will be healed of any illness they have suffered under the Phage. Those who are the other extreme shall perish, turning into ash when you pass through them. I have granted you the power to heal or destroy Vidiians depending upon which type you encounter. Your soul, your very essence was used to power this spell. If you take too long to let go of your woes then your energy will fade from this side of the veil of death and your spirit will automatically go to the realm my people call limbo. You should actually thank me. If you can let go of your mortal vices you will pass onto paradise. If you don't move on willingly you will go to limbo. Other beings risk the third option, a realm of eternal torment," the powerful immortal explained.
The College of Life and Death Energies (formerly known as Necromancy) had been busy in the last several centuries and had come up with some very useful spells, especially soul magic.
"You can't do this to me," Neelix wailed.
"I'm afraid I can," the warrior wizard replied before banishing the soul cage and watching as Neelix was compelled to travel towards Vidiian space.
Neelix likely wouldn't have enough energy to cure all of the infected Vidiians but he could help a significant number. If the spirit was smart and he caught on quickly he would go towards the infected he could sense were good. This would work to let go of his mortal life much faster and give him a better chance of reaching paradise in the afterlife. The sorcerer went back to his quarters to comfort Kes. It was just another interesting day on the starship Voyager.

Voyager detoured slightly from its journey home in order to investigate some intense photonic energy readings coming from a nearby proto-star. Harry naturally scanned the proto-star with his Caretaker derived sensors and located the cause of the readings quickly. Kes and the green eyed Potter were in main engineering to observe the investigatory process being carried out by Janeway and B'Elanna.
"Captain could you hold off for a few moments in order for Kes to try something before you transport samples onboard?" The Pilot requested.
"I don't see why not. But what do you want Kes to try?" Kathryn questioned.
"Well it occurs to me that we could avoid a lot of mishaps with alien species if Kes scanned whatever we are investigating with the telepathy I have trained her in," Harry suggested.
"That sounds like a good idea. You may do as Tom suggests Kes," the Captain consented.
Kes closed her eyes and reached out with her mind towards the nearby proto-star. It only took the blonde Ocampa moments to locate the consciousnesses of several energy based life forms.
"I am detecting several energy based life forms in that star. They are only adolescents. This species comes to this star to help nurture their young so that the adolescents will grow faster," Kes declared.
"I am detecting some kind of energy construct that just appeared Captain," B'Elanna announced. "But the energy construct is gone now," the Chief Engineer added a moment later.
"They are moving off until we are gone Captain. I think they sensed my mind and are a rather xenophobic race," Kes explained the best she could from the limited contact she had.
"I am just glad we didn't accidentally transport any of their young onboard. Thank you for suggesting the precaution Tom. And thank you Kes for performing the task," Kathryn told the blonde female and her favorite young man. "I think perhaps from now on we should make this telepathic check a standard procedure if that is alright with you Kes."
"I would be happy to help avoid trouble Captain," Kes reassured the commander of Voyager.
"Well then, I will get us back on course," Janeway declared before leaving for the bridge while the skilled Potter scientist and the two remaining females began examining the readings they were able to take of the energy beings.
Harry had much more detailed sensor readings recorded thanks to his Caretaker technology derived array. The more advanced readings would make an interesting gift to B'Elanna when she eventually learned of her mate's true nature given how much enthusiasm the Klingon human hybrid was showing for the subject of the energy beings.

Stardate 48734.2…
When Tuvok and Chakotay's damaged shuttle flew back to Voyager on autopilot with the two injured officers onboard the pair was immediately transported to sick bay.
"They have each taken a blast to the head by some kind of energy discharge," the Doctor informed Janeway as soon as she came in the door of sick bay with her Pilot right behind her. "Mr. Tuvok has a serious concussion but the injury is nothing I can't handle. As for Commander Chakotay…all of the bio-neural energy has been extracted from his brain."
At hearing this Harry inquired, "Kes, have you followed our new protocol and probed their minds?"
"No, I wanted to wait until you got here," Kes answered.
"Then do so now…I will be here with you," Harry encouraged his student even while his attention focused elsewhere when he sensed another presence in the room besides those physically apparent.
The magician focused his power into his eyes and quickly isolated the vision of Chakotay floating in the air, struggling to maintain his form. Chakotay's essence had been disembodied and the Commander had not yet learned how to stabilize his form enough to become visible to the perceptive mage without the use of enhanced vision.
"I am afraid that I am not sensing anything in Chakotay's body," Kes declared.
"Move on to Tuvok," Harry prompted while nodding his understanding.
As Kes prepared to probe the Vulcan, Harry prepared to assist her as he sensed a malevolent presence emanating from Tuvok.
"Tom…help," Kes cried almost immediately as the being possessing Tuvok attacked the blonde.
Harry bolstered Kes' power with his own mind, using his considerable experience with the mind arts to push back the assaulting entity. After several moments the being inside of the Vulcan was expelled from the Security Officer's body. The warlock guided Kes on how to attack the disembodied entity and expel it from Voyager. The battle of wills lasted almost a minute as Kes struggled to control her power. In the meantime Tuvok had woken up.
"What happened, Tuvok?" Kathryn questioned her old friend.
"We completed our away mission. On the way back to Voyager we encountered a dark matter nebula. As we began the routine analysis discovering such a nebula prompts some type of energy beings who called themselves the Komar attacked us. They lived in the nebula and fed off of bio neural energy. The entities tried to feed off of Commander Chakotay and I. At that point I lost control of my body as one of the beings possessed me. They thought to use my body to take Voyager into the nebula so that they could feed off of our entire crew," Tuvok explained.
At that point Kes and Harry were finished with the Komar entity.
"Kes, scan the room for other Komar. But this time focus extra hard like we have practiced for scanning deeply," Harry urged.
Kes nodded before beginning her scan. It wasn't long until the blonde telepath detected Chakotay and informed her mentor. With the warlock's help Kes managed to rejoin Chakotay's essence with his body.
"That is an experience I never want to go through again. Thank you Kes, Tom," Chakotay declared as he opened his eyes.
"I concur and thank you," Tuvok agreed.
The two telepaths simply nodded their heads in acceptance of the thanks.
