Stardate 51813.4…

Harry detected the signal sent over the specific signal band he had given a particular operative coming from a cloaked vessel located off of Voyager's bow. Hogwarts easily saw through Kellin's cloak. Harry sent Kellin docking coordinates onboard Hogwarts and teleported over to the docking bay himself. Kellin de-cloaked her small craft when she entered Hogwarts' more powerful cloaking field. Kellin got out of her ship after shutting it down while looking at Harry hopefully.

"Harry," Kellin said hopefully. "Do you remember me?"

Harry smiled warmly and opened his arms to the Ramuran woman. Kellin smiled and rushed into his arms.

"I told you I could never forget you," Harry replied.

"I know but I have never encountered a being that could remember one of my kind before," Kellin replied. "I had hoped but I couldn't be sure."

"Well now you have. Come, let us take a tour of my ship. Let me show you Hogwarts," Harry suggested as he took Kellin's hand.

Kellin met Rain, Hermione, T'Pol, and the rest of Harry's other mates living onboard Hogwarts during the tour.

"I knew you have many female companions. I just didn't realize it was this many," Kellin admitted.

"Are you repulsed or having second thoughts?" Harry asked.

"Not at all," Kellin hastily assured. "I fell in love with you. I can get along with them but they don't matter to me. You do."

Kellin stopped their walk and drew closer to him. She pulled Harry's mouth down to hers and kissed him. Harry could tell what part of his ship she wanted to see next and teleported them to his bedroom.

Harry detected a Ramuran vessel under cloak scanning Voyager searching for Kellin. Her government employed Ramurans like Kellin as searchers to track down and bring home any Ramuran who tried leaving their home planet. These searchers would erase any evidence of the target's presence. Ramurans naturally emitted a pheromone which removed them from the minds of those they met shortly after meeting the Ramuran. This pheromone also made Ramurans hard to scan. Kellin was safe from the searcher onboard Hogwarts.

Stardate 51978.2…

Three days previously Voyager had picked up a transmission from what appeared to be Starfleet Command. The transmission was encrypted and garbled with some exotic energy readings consistent with travel through universal barriers. After confirming that Earth's Starfleet Command in their own universe hadn't sent the transmission Voyager's crew determined that the transmission likely originated from an alternate universe.

Harry Kim and the Delaney sisters had gone on a mission to a trading colony in Voyager's route home. There were some things it turned out were very sensitive to the radiation encountered by unshielded Transwarp travel. Therefore Kathryn elected to trade for these items at the trading colony. Harry was busy with something when the trading party arrived back on Voyager but he heard about it later from Kathryn. HK's universal translator had gone offline and an alien male named Arturis had assisted. Arturis' species had a gift for languages that they could pick them up with just a few phrases. They were essentially biological universal translators. Arturis had asked for passage to a star system in Voyager's route. Kathryn had agreed to repay Arturis for his assistance with all of the trade negotiations. After learning of his ability with languages Kathryn had asked for Arturis' assistance with translating the message from the Alternate Starfleet Command.

Arturis was quickly able to decode part of the message which included a set of coordinates. Harry got his first look at Arturis just as Voyager reached those coordinates. Arturis came onto the bridge with Kathryn.

Arturis was humanoid but with an abnormally large bald and oddly shaped head.

"I am picking up a vessel," Tuvok announced as he put it on screen. "The Warp signature matches Starfleet's design history," Tuvok added moments later.

"There are no life-signs onboard," Harry informed his crewmates.

"Take an away team and secure the vessel," Kathryn instructed Tuvok. "Arturis, may I call on your talents again to try to further decrypt that message?"

"Of course," Arturis agreed.

Harry and Tuvok were on the away team and went with Chakotay. When the away team transported to the other vessel's bridge it appeared much like a Starfleet bridge layout but was somewhat different. Tuvok walked over to a console and began exploring the ship's computer.

"NX-01A appears to be the ship's class designation," Harry observed as he spotted the labeling on one of the computer terminals.

"This is a new type of hull geometry," Chakotay commented.

"If this ship did traverse the barriers between realities that would make sense I suppose," Harry mused.

"The ship is called the USS Dauntless. As Lt. Paris pointed out the registry is NX-01A," Tuvok announced. "The launch date is 51472."

"That means assuming its Earth is located in the same point in space relative to the counterpart in our universe that this ship has managed to travel 60,000 light-years in three months," Chakotay noted.

"The ship has an auto-pilot but I am getting an error warning on the navigation system," Harry explained. "It looks like the ship was meant to jump to another reality and then jump back to its home universe at a different location in spacetime. I've heard the theory before. It is easier to warp space via the layers between universes than it is to do it in universe. The ship would be able to travel much faster at such a further layer than the normal warp we use. It would get around the problem of radiation we encounter at unshielded Transwarp."

What Harry was talking about was hyper-space travel. Given the figure Chakotay had just figured out this ship was a relatively slow hyperspace vessel but much faster than some of the old Goa'uld craft from tens of thousands of years ago.

"We should get a look at this ship's engines," Chakotay suggested.

The group made it to the engine room and found a completely different engine configuration. The ship shuddered as they arrived.

"The transition to this universe seems to have damaged some of the particle field generation elements," Harry announced after a quick scan.

"That isn't antimatter," Chakotay observed. "What is it?"

"We call it Transitronic Energy," Harry answered. "Highly classified sections of our own Starfleet are experimenting with it now. It appears the alternate Starfleet was further along in their experiments."

"It appears the alternate Starfleet named the drive a Quantum Slip-Stream drive," Tuvok explained after accessing the nearest console.

Just then the engine powered up and the Dauntless shot into Slip-Stream with almost no warning.

"Energy from the Quantum drive is being routed through the main deflector," Harry explained. "This vessel has a much bigger deflector than Voyager to take the extra power requirements."

Harry typed quickly at his console and inverted the Slip-Stream's quantum field until the Dauntless dropped back into normal space.

"Obviously Starfleet didn't work out all of the bugs before they sent the ship out," Chakotay suggested.

"Indeed," Tuvok agreed. "We have traveled over fifteen light-years in less than a minute."

OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP

Two days at high Warp saw Voyager catch up to the Dauntless. In that time Arturis and Kathryn had recovered more of the message.

"Slip-Stream technology is experimental and high risk," Admiral Hayes explained through the static riddled decrypted transmission. "It has come a long way in the past year. We have conducted 47 trial runs. All were successful but each flight only lasted five days. In order to reach Earth you would have to remain at Slip-Stream velocity for a full 3 months. Everything you will need is on the Dauntless. Safe Journey. We hope to see you soon."

"Now from what Tom has been able to ascertain the Dauntless was not meant to transition fully into our universe. It was meant to remain at a layer out of phase with the dimension we normally inhabit. So obviously it has a glitch that wasn't encountered in the five day journeys which their tests didn't reveal," Kathryn explained.

"But couldn't we just remain at Slip-Stream for five days and then drop to normal space again for a while and repeat the process in five day jumps until we got home?" HK questioned.

"We couldn't," B'Elanna answered. "It would have to be the Dauntless. Voyager's hull geometry and deflector aren't designed to withstand Slip-Stream stresses and to handle the power output the Dauntless is."

"And that ship is rather spare in what it has. There are no replicators, holo-decks, and only one transporter," Harry added.

"Short term there appears to be no cellular damage from a very short duration jump and I have to think that Starfleet wouldn't send it if they detected any problems in 5 day jumps," the Doctor pointed out. "But we don't know what effects a 3 month journey would have. I recommend we test first and try later."

"I am in contact with Starfleet about this matter," Kathryn said. "They advise nothing should be done until the problem that brought the Dauntless fully into our universe is fixed. They are considering sending a holo-shuttle to work on it."

"Couldn't we tow the Dauntless in our warp field and work on it in route?" HK suggested.

"Doing so would slow our travel considerably," Seven pointed out.

"B'Elanna, Tom, while Starfleet is thinking about this I want you to take an engineering team over to the Dauntless and see if you can't correct the problems it is having with its navigation systems. I will ask Starfleet to send a holo-engineering team to help modify Voyager as much as possible to try to access Slip-Stream. I'm not sure what they can do about our hull geometry but they may be able to beef up our deflector. I'll talk to them about it."

The meeting broke up after that directive.

Kathryn found the whole situation with Arturis a little too convenient and asked Harry to telepathically examine the alien's mind. Arturis as it turned out had natural defenses based off of his neuro-physiology against telepathic examination. If Harry pushed too hard conventionally he would destroy Arturis' mind. He could send in nanite probes to copy Arturis' mind but Kathryn did not know that. Seven was at first experiencing anxiety about returning to Earth to be an individual among billions of individuals. Harry managed to calm her down and reassure her she would always be with him.

Tuvok and Harry were called to the Dauntless engine room by HK when HK discovered something strange.

"I was scanning this anomalous power reading when the bulkhead just seemed to fade like static and it changed. Behind it is what appears to be alien technology," HK explained.

Harry and Tuvok began scanning with their tricorders.

"Particle synthesis…rudimentary but fascinating none-the-less," Harry mused.

What the device did was essentially conjured whatever the programmer wanted.

"How does that work?" HK asked.

"This device can conjure matter much like a replicator but it is different. The matter conjured is of a much greater variety but this technology requires an intrary field to maintain the conjured state. The tricorder scan destabilized the intrary field," Harry explained.

"I am not familiar with an intrary field," Tuvok said.

"Classified research," Harry answered.

"Tuvok to Captain Janeway," Tuvok said while triggering his com badge.

"Go ahead," Kathryn prompted.

"We have discovered alien technology in the Dauntless. The Dauntless is not what it appears to be. I believe your suspicions about Arturis were correct," Tuvok informed Kathryn.

"Where is he now?" Kathryn asked.

"On the bridge with Lt. Torres," Tuvok answered.

"I will be on the bridge with a full security team within minutes. Go to the bridge but do not tip our hand," Kathryn instructed.

"Acknowledged," Tuvok replied.

Harry and Tuvok entered the bridge moments later to find B'Elanna and Arturis standing side by side at the helm of the Dauntless.

"B'Elanna, don't give away you know but Arturis isn't what he appears. I'm going to come up and kiss you. Play along and draw my phaser when you are embracing me," Harry sent telepathically.

"Ok," B'Elanna agreed. Harry approached the helm and B'Elanna turned to face him with a smile. "Hello, lover."

Harry kissed B'Elanna and she drew herself against him. She drew his phaser out of the back of his waistband. Kathryn transported in at that moment with the security team. All had phasers drawn and aimed.

"Evacuate the repair team," Kathryn instructed.

"Yes, Captain," B'Elanna stated before leaving.

"Why did you fabricate the message from the alternate Starfleet and draw us here, Arturis?" Kathryn demanded.

Arturis leapt towards the helm instead of responding and pulled off a panel to reveal a lever. He went for the lever but several phaser beams leapt out and hit him. He staggered for a moment but didn't stop. Two security offers tried jumping Arturis but he physically threw them off. Harry stepped forward and grabbed Arturis by the alien's left wrist. Harry swung and launched Arturis into the nearest wall with the sound of bones snapping. It was obvious Arturis was mortally injured.

"Why did you do this, Arturis?" Kathryn asked as she walked over and stood nearby the injured alien.

"Your deal with the Borg for safe passage doomed my people to assimilation," Arturis choked out.

"He speaks of our deal with Species 8472," Seven pointed out.

"Your anger is misplaced," Kathryn replied. "If Species 8472 would have won against the Borg they would have wiped out every living species in our galaxy."

"You lie," Arturis rebutted before hacking up blood.

Moments later he was dead.

"Let's see if we can find the burial customs of his people in the ship's computer," Kathryn said after several moments of silence.

OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP

After sending off Arturis' remains the Dauntless was retrieved by a holo-crewed transwarp shuttle to be taken back to Earth for study. Some modifications to Voyager saw the vessel being able to use Slip-Stream for only a few hundred light-years before the stresses induced by Slip-Stream to Voyager's different hull geometries became too much. Starfleet and Voyager's crew would research work-arounds.

"Where am I?" Arturis asked as he appeared on a planet.

"You are in a different universe than the one you were born in," Harry said.

Arturis spun and spotted Harry before saying, "You! You killed me."

"You don't look so dead to me," Harry mused.

Arturis examined his body noticing for the first time that he felt fine.

"Why am I here?" Arturis asked as he calmed himself down.

"I brought you here because your situation was a tragedy. Your reaction was misguided. You lashed out against the wrong person. In this universe your family was not assimilated but the version of you who was born here was. He sacrificed himself so that your family could get free in the ship you tried luring my crew into," Harry explained.

"Where are they?" Arturis asked hopefully.

"Their ship has landed over that ridge," Harry said while pointing into the distance.

"Why would you help me after all I tried to do?" Arturis questioned.

"Because I don't like seeing beings suffering," Harry answered. "You were a good person when you had your family with you. I understand loss can make people go a bit insane sometimes. Try to find yourself again. Goodbye Arturis," Harry said before teleporting the man away over the ridge in the distance.

Hermione appeared at Harry's side and linked arms with him.

"That was a great thing you just did for him," Hermione noted. "Nobody back on Voyager even suspects you faked his death."

"Maybe I will tell them someday," Harry mused. "But I wanted things to play out relatively close to how they would have played out had I not been here."

"I thought you didn't look into the alternate timelines anymore," Hermione said questioningly.

"I didn't until after the incident was over. Aristotle looked before-hand," Harry answered. "Come on. Let's go home."

Harry and Hermione teleported back to Hogwarts in their own universe.

Stardate 52095.3…

Harry sat in bed between his mates thinking about the recent past. Voyager had just come out of spending two months within a dark region in space filled with no light. It turns out the void hadn't been as dark as Voyager's crew had first thought. The region had been filled with an indigenous life-form (the Marsati) which was being poisoned by another species known as the Malon. The Malon were using a spatial vortex (sort of like a short range Xindi class wormhole) to transport toxic waste into Marsati space. The Malon freighters were too powerful for the Marsati to handle on their own.

Voyager's crew had at first offered the Malon representative, a being named Emck, technology that would see the toxic byproduct they were dumping being recycled and therefore not being needed to be dumped. But Emck was too caught up with his own profits and refused to transmit this technology back to his home-world. So Harry's response was to gain the coordinates of the Malon home-world, jump through the vortex, and transmit the technology anyway. Emck had not responded well and the resulting battle had ended up with Emck's freighter being destroyed and the vortex into Marsati space being collapsed.

During that time spent traveling through Marsati space Voyager's crew had been very bored because there was nothing for them to do outside of the ship. Their sensors couldn't see very far before total blackness encompassed them. Harry had made it a priority to take the time to get reacquainted with all of his mates and just spend some time enjoying their company. A lot of sex had been involved of course…almost more than their secretly immortal bodies could take. But they had never complained.

Harry watched all of his lovers sleeping around him. It was still early yet. He reflected upon the beauty he was surrounded by.

"You have so many of us yet you keep on acquiring more," T'Pol sent as she materialized and floated invisibly above the bed facing her husband. Only he could see her. "Will you ever stop?"

"I don't know. My desires…my urges…they drive me to acquire more mates. I feel at some point I will slow and only acquire select wives a great deal of time apart. That will probably be if my expansion into the multiverse slows," Harry answered.

T'Pol nodded and said, "It is in your divine nature then. I am trying to understand your nature. Many of your wives are. I have conversed with my counterpart in your other universe. She has helped me understand somewhat. Even with all that you have given us in your database there is still so much to explore. And there is so much information in that database that it will take many life-times to fully consciously skim."

"You could have wished me to come to you onboard Hogwarts or anywhere you had visited and I would have come. Yet you chose to come here. Why?" Harry asked.

"I wanted to observe you with them…those who you haven't told your true nature yet. It gives you enjoyment to be mysterious. I find it strange but your enjoyment of anything makes me incredibly happy," T'Pol admitted.

T'Pol sensed over the amazing bond she shared with her husband his desire for her which was always a constant in their connection spike. His eyes glowed a little. She felt his will draw her down on top of him. His will and aura kept the others from noticing as he began making love to her. She felt as if she was some celestial object caught in the gravity well of a massive object. She could not escape yet she did not wish to. It was still early yet. They had time.

Harry piloted Voyager's newest shuttle the Delta Flyer towards the developing proto-nebula that was on Voyager's route back to Earth. Normally Starfleet would have handled this exploration with a transwarp shuttle and a holo-crew. But this proto-nebula was emitting an interesting type of radiation which destabilized the transwarp shuttle models Starfleet had been using. Starfleet engineers were trying to compensate but they probably wouldn't get it done in time to witness the birthing event that was important in the first place. So Voyager's crew was asked to stop over and check this event out.

The Delta Flyer had been built by Voyager's crew during their time in the Marsati void. It had been a project Harry and B'Elanna had wanted to work on. Harry glanced over his shoulder to see the Doctor, B'Elanna, and Seven with him.

"I love this new shuttle," B'Elanna declared.

"Well you should considering you helped design it," the Doctor pointed out.

"It does take care of class 2 claustrophobia rather nicely," Harry agreed.

"What is class 2 claustrophobia?" Seven asked.

"That was what Starfleet cadets called class 2 shuttles," B'Elanna answered. "Fast, maneuverable, but they weren't built for comfort."

"They would stuff half a dozen cadets into one of these for weeks at a time," Harry added. "It was most unpleasant."

The Flyer shuddered as it drew closer to the forming nebula. And then the reddish formation point expanded into a beautiful nebula.

"That does look pretty amazing," B'Elanna said as Harry brought the shuttle to a stop from a distance.

"Oh shit…we need to back off," Harry said as he brought the shuttle around and headed back towards Voyager. The shuttle was rocked despite the small version of the Promethium drive it was equipped with. "Voyager, beam us out. This sucker is putting out some radiation I have never seen before."

Voyager quickly complied. When the away-team materialized in the transporter room Chakotay was there to greet them. Immediately the Doctor's mobile-emitter sparked and his image flickered.

"Transfer to sick bay, Doctor," B'Elanna ordered.

She caught his mobile emitter before it fell.

"Doctor to Lieutenant Torres," the Doctor said immediately from sick-bay. "Can you repair my emitter?"

"If we can't then we will just build you a new one," B'Elanna assured.

Harry left the transporter room in order to remotely pilot the Delta Flyer back to Voyager. Harry was working on analyzing the readings of the nebula from the Flyer when the red alert went off.

"Bridge to Seven of Nine, Lt. Paris, Lt. Torres, and Captain Janeway," Chakotay said over the com.

"Go ahead Commander," Kathryn prompted.

"Ensign MulCahy just found some type of Borg technology forming in the science lab where he left the mobile emitter," Chakotay explained.

"We are on our way," Kathryn answered.

Tuvok and a security team met this party at the Deck 8 science lab in question.

"I don't know what it is," MulCahy informed his crewmates. "I stayed outside once I realized it was Borg."

"You did the right thing, Ensign," Kathryn assured.

Harry, Seven, and B'Elanna led the way in with scanners out. Tuvok had a phase rifle at the ready though it probably wouldn't do a lick of good.

"It appears to be similar to a Borg maturation chamber. But I do not recognize certain components," Seven announced.

"There is a force-field up," B'Elanna said.

Seven stepped closer.

"Is that wise, Seven?" Kathryn asked.

"I will be recognized as Borg," Seven answered even as she stepped through the force-field. "This has nano-probes with my encoding sequence."

Seven tapped out a sequence on an interface console and an aperture opened to reveal a drone still in a child-like state forming.

"Is that what a Borg drone in the fetal state looks like?" Tuvok inquired.

"The Borg do not reproduce in this fashion. This is a drone unlike any I have ever seen before," Seven admitted.

"And it has my DNA mixed with yours, Seven," Harry concluded after he had finished his scans.

"It appears Seven's nano-probes have been trying to assimilate your DNA. They recognize it as a superior form of technology because of its access to higher-dimensional energy but they could not perceive all the dimensional aspects of it. Though they have learned new science from it," Aristotle informed his creator.

"How did this happen?" Kathryn asked.

"When the away team returned our patterns merged briefly due to a transporter malfunction," Seven explained.

"That was due to the exotic radiation being put out by the nebula," B'Elanna added.

"Yes. It looks like my nano-probes assimilated the Doctor's mobile-emitter. And something in that nebula radiation made it react differently," Seven said.

"Seven, continue to analyze this situation to see what we are dealing with," Kathryn instructed. "Tuvok, post around the clock security."

"Yes, Captain," Seven agreed.

OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP

"I have adapted the Astrometrics sensors to penetrate the force-field," Seven announced from the Astrometrics lab.

The Doctor, Harry, B'Elanna, and Seven were present. The larger and more mature drone was now in a regeneration alcove it had created.

"Due to its increased maturation rate the drone now appears to be a boy of six years of age in human terms," the Doctor said.

"His body plating is composed of poly-deutonic alloy just like the Doctor's mobile emitter," B'Elanna stated. "His body is made up of 27% of Borg implants."

"The drone's technology is all from the 29th century like the Doctor's emitter," Harry informed his companions.

"My mobile emitter is embedded in his cerebral cortex," the Doctor announced. "It controls all of his autonomic functions as part of his central nervous system."

"It looks like we will be building you a new emitter after all, Doctor," B'Elanna said.

"I have dampened its proximity transceiver so that it cannot contact the Borg collective," Seven added.

"Stop his maturation at eighteen years of age," Harry instructed his replicat. "He needs a few years to mature under my guidance before he will be ready for his destiny."

Harry may not have intentionally sired the drone but it was still his child.

"He needs a name," Harry announced drawing the attention of everyone else there to him with surprise.

"Tom, if this drone is assimilated by the collective he will make them more powerful than ever," B'Elanna pointed out.

"He is my son and also Seven's," Harry pointed out. "I am taking steps to halt his maturation at eighteen years of age. We will be able to guide him away from the influence of the collective."

Kathryn and Tuvok had entered and caught the last part of this conversation.

"The risk is great," Tuvok pointed out. "But danger should not dictate the right of a being to life."

"Wise words, Tuvok," Kathryn agreed. "As his parents you two should name him," she said to Seven and Harry.

Seven looked at Harry like a deer caught in the headlights.

"We will discuss it," Harry assured. "Seven, walk with me." Seven followed Harry out of the lab and nobody said anything. They could all see Seven was in a state of semi-shock. "How do you feel?"

"Uncomfortable. I do not know anything about interacting with adolescents," Seven admitted.

"I know plenty," Harry assured. "I can take the lead on this if you would like."

Seven was thoughtful for several moments before saying, "I must learn sometime."

"For a name what do you think about Magnus?" Harry asked.

"I think it is appropriate," Seven agreed.

Magnus was the name of Seven's father.

OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP

"The maturation cycle is complete at the stage Tom has limited it to," Seven announced as she stood with her mate before their son and Tuvok stood in the background with a security team.

Magnus disconnected from his alcove and stepped forward.

"We are Borg. State our designation," Magnus said.

"Designation is Magnus. You are the son of Seven of Nine and Tom Paris," Seven replied.

"You are not part of the collective. You shall receive your instructions from Seven," Harry added.

"Insufficient," Magnus said as he stepped closer.

"You are not Borg. You are an individual," Seven added. "You will comply. Do you understand?"

"I am Magnus," Magnus answered.

"His understanding is there but very rudimentary. In the collective this is the point where he would receive his instructions. It would be easiest for me to provide them through neural interface," Seven explained before she stepped forward and extended her hand. Magnus stepped back for a moment but then stilled. Seven extended assimilation tubules into Magnus' neck. "It is working." After a moment Seven grunted in pain and explained, "The drone is probing my neural pathways. It is trying to assimilate all of my knowledge and I cannot disengage the link."

Harry's mind was then in Seven's reinforcing her and vanishing the pain.

"You are hurting your mother," Harry told Magnus. Immediately the drone disengaged his neural link. "Are you alright?"

"Yes," Seven confirmed.

"Let's see what we can do about this body armor and that eye-implant," Harry said.

Harry worked with Seven to upgrade Magnus' nanites. Harry's nanites were vastly superior to the Borg's nano-probes. Because of this Harry was able to make it so that Magnus could retract his body armor in liquid nanite form to cover only his shoulder-blades when he wanted to retract it. This way he could show flesh. The eye implant would also now retract when not desired to be used so that it looked like he had a normal eye. The Doctor would stimulate hair growth.

This process took quite a while.

OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP

Seven decided to use Borg data nodes to educate Magnus since direct neural interface wasn't so viable.

"Magnus, come here and assimilate this data," Seven instructed.

Magnus stared at her in confusion and Harry suggested, "Show him how to assimilate."

Seven extended her assimilation tubules into the data node. Magnus stared at his own hand as he approached. Harry took Magnus' hand and brought it to the data node before pressing out a sequence that activated Magnus' assimilation tubules. Twenty seconds later the tubules retracted.

"This is a laboratory on a starship designated Voyager," Magnus said with sudden realization. "I am traveling through interstellar space."

"Yes," Seven confirmed.

"Why?" Magnus questioned.

"Voyager is returning to Earth. This ship was meant for exploration but is far from its home," Harry answered.

"We are Borg," Magnus said.

"You are a unique individual and are not part of a Borg collective. Do you understand?" Seven asked.

"I am an individual. My thoughts are my own," Magnus replied.

"Precisely," Seven confirmed.

"I wish to assimilate more information," Magnus announced as he held out his arm.

"Not yet. Your neural pathways require time to process the information you have just assimilated," Seven explained. "Let us go to the Doctor for medical analysis."

"I wish to learn more about the Borg collective," Magnus said as he walked to sick-bay with Harry and Seven.

Two security officers followed behind the trio.

"The Borg collective seeks perfection," Seven began.

"But they also capture individuals and subjugate the individuals to their will," Harry added.

At that point they entered sick-bay.

"Good morning," the Doctor greeted.

Denara nodded her greeting as well with a smile.

"You are the emergency medical hologram. And you are a holographic individual," Magnus said to the holographic couple.

"And you are very observant," the Doctor replied. The Doctor began scanning with his medical tricorder and Magnus moved his upper body away in startled surprise. "This is just a non-invasive bio-medical scan. Your central nervous system is functioning normally but I am picking up some degradation in your neural pathways."

"He needs to regenerate again after the information assimilation he just underwent," Harry explained. "We have already adapted a proper alcove for his technology."

"My central nervous system is regulated by your mobile emitter. Your mobile emitter is more advanced than these diagnostic tools," Magnus told the Doctor.

Denara suppressed a grin at her mate's expression. She knew how much her lover missed his mobile emitter.

"Far more advanced," the Doctor agreed. "My mobile emitter is technology that came from the 29th century."

"I am an advanced form of life," Magnus realized. "I am unique."

"Yes," the Doctor confirmed.

"Describe my origins," Magnus requested.

"There was a transporter malfunction caused by exotic radiation from the nearby proto-nebula. Several of Seven's nano-probes fused with the Doctor's mobile emitter. The mobile emitter used my DNA as a template mixed with Seven's DNA to form you," Harry explained.

"Your DNA is advanced. It gives off energies in spectrums not encountered in any other species," Magnus announced.

This caused several raised eyebrows.

"I have been meaning to speak to you about that, Mr. Paris," the Doctor said. "Why can my instruments detect no abnormalities in your DNA?" The Doctor questioned.

"I'm afraid that is classified, Doctor," Harry answered.

"Come Magnus. You must regenerate and then we can give you a tour of the important sections of the ship," Seven stated.

OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP

"Deck 11, section 32, Main Engineering," Seven explained to Magnus as she entered that section with him. "That is the warp core…"

"Warp core," Magnus said. "Fueled by a matter/anti-matter reaction which produces a maximum output of 4,000 Teradynes/second and providing power for faster than light propulsion," he added.

"Seven, Tom," B'Elanna greeted as she walked by and began typing at a console.

"Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres. She is a human-Klingon hybrid and the chief engineer of this ship," Seven explained to Magnus. "This is Magnus."

"Hello Magnus. Sorry I can't talk but I only have an hour to find a way to predict the expansion rate of this proto-nebula or the Captain is going to end the survey now," B'Elanna explained.

Harry was about to give his lover some advice when Magnus offered, "Apply a multi-spatial algorithm."

"Please demonstrate," B'Elanna requested. Magnus began typing at the console rapidly. After a few moments observing him she said, "You are definitely your father's son."

"Greetings," Magnus said to Kathryn after he had entered her ready room. "My designation is Magnus. How are you today?"

"I'm just fine. Thank you," Kathryn answered. Magnus currently had his armor and eye-piece retracted. He looked almost human other than his skin color. "How are you today, Magnus?"

"I am well. Thank you, Captain Janeway," Magnus replied.

"Are you adapting well to life on Voyager?" Kathryn queried.

"Yes. To date I have assimilated 47 billion Tera-Quads of information on a vast variety of subjects. Is your assessment of me complete? Am I sufficient?" Magnus said.

"You are more than sufficient," Kathryn said a pleased smile. "You are making excellent progress."

"Then with your permission I wish to be excused. I have agreed to assist Lt. Torres. She wishes to increase the efficiency of the busard collectors," Magnus said.

"Permission granted," Kathryn replied.

Magnus left the room. Seven and Harry stayed behind.

"He is a quite remarkable being. The adaptations you made to his appearance are making him fit in much easier with the crew," Kathryn noted. "How have you handled the Borg?"

"Magnus has been shown much of the atrocities the Borg have committed and we did our best to convey to him how horrific their actions have been towards free will," Harry answered.

"Do you think it worked?" Kathryn asked.

"The lure of perfection is strong, Captain," Seven answered. "But it appears we were convincing enough."

Magnus settled into life on Voyager over the next few days as Voyager returned on its journey to Earth.

Stardate 52136.4…

Harry sat in the Delta Flyer using cloaked remote probes to follow Chakotay and Tuvok as the two officers explored the space station the Delta Flyer was located next to. The Flyer was cloaked and for good reason. The space station had an environment inside holographically created to duplicate Starfleet Command in San Francisco and the inhabitants looked like Starfleet personnel. Starfleet Command had detected what appeared to be Starfleet signals coming from multiple locations in the Delta Quadrant. All of these signals originated from space stations like the one the Delta Flyer was investigating. Starfleet Intelligence had determined that a holographic infiltrator was highly likely to be detected so had asked Voyager to deviate slightly to the station located nearest to their course home.

That was what today's investigation was for.

"Chakotay to Paris," Chakotay said while tapping his com badge. "Three to beam up."

Harry transported Chakotay, Tuvok, and the third unconscious male dressed in a Starfleet security officer's uniform back onto the Delta Flyer. Harry immediately began piloting the Flyer back to Voyager.

"What did you find in that space station?" HK questioned. "Even at this range our sensors couldn't detect a lot without being noticed by the space station inhabitants."

"What appears to be Earth and a great many Starfleet personnel," Tuvok answered.

Sickbay…

"Welcome onboard, Ensign Gentry," Kathryn said, her tone serious, as the foreign security officer regained consciousness and sat up on one of the medical beds.

Kathryn's telepathic mate had been able to determine at least the name of the foreign security officer in his unconscious state.

"Where am I?" Gentry questioned. "And why have you brought me here?"

"On a Starship," Kathryn answered. "USS Voyager to be exact."

"We know you aren't human," Chakotay said. "What species are you? Why are your kind running these space stations to simulate Starfleet?"

"I am Ensign David Gentry of Earth," Gentry insisted.

"If you won't cooperate I am afraid we will have to study your DNA to determine your species," Kathryn said as the Doctor entered the force-field protected medical bay approaching Gentry to take a DNA sample.

"No," Gentry screamed as he leapt away from the Doctor. "Don't touch me…disease…humans!"

Gentry let out a shriek that definitely wasn't human, appeared to be in pain, and then collapsed to the floor dead. Denara knelt next to Gentry's body and used a medical tricorder to scan the alien.

"He has released a cellular toxin into his blood-stream," Denara explained. "He is dead."

Astrometrics…

"The recreation is quite accurate," Chakotay explained as he took Harry, Kathryn, Seven, and Tuvok through the images he had acquired with his holo-imager.

"That's Boothby," Kathryn said as she examined one image in particular.

"Who is Boothby?" Seven asked.

"He is the head groundskeeper at Starfleet Academy," Kathryn answered. "When I was a cadet he used to give me fresh roses for my quarters. They have gathered astoundingly accurate information about Starfleet Headquarters."

"It seems likely they had access to a Federation database or they have been to San Francisco," Chakotay suggested.

"The habitat's population is comprised of humans, Vulcans, Bolians, Ferengi, and several other Alpha Quadrant species," Tuvok added.

"I have used the tricorder data and holo-imager scans to extrapolate a cross-section of the interior," Seven explained as she took those present over to the main Astrometrics view-screen. Seven brought up a representation of the interior of the space station. "I believe they utilized a combination of holographic technology along with particle synthesis."

"What is the power source?" Kathryn questioned.

"There are thirteen thermionic generators beneath the city," Seven answered. "There is no match in our database for the energy signatures."

"The habitat is heavily fortified and well prepared against an attack," Tuvok added.

"Sickbay to Captain," the Doctor's voice came over the com.

"Proceed, Doctor," Kathryn prompted.

"Denara and I have completed our post-mortem analysis. You and Mr. Paris should come to sickbay," the Doctor suggested.

"We are on our way," Kathryn answered. After the com had disconnected she suggested, "If this is a training facility it might mean this species is planning to invade the Federation."

"That won't be so easy to do now that Starfleet has our analysis and knows all that is going on. But we should definitely be learning more," Harry suggested. "Our spatial disruptor would punch through their defenses," Harry advised Tuvok.

"Good…let's head to sickbay," Kathryn told her boyfriend.

Sickbay…

"The genetic alterations performed on this being are highly sophisticated," Denara informed Harry and Kathryn.

"Only microcellular scans distinguished him from a normal human male," the Doctor added.

"We have determined how to trigger a genetic reversion into his original form using a cyto-kinetic injection," Denara explained.

"Proceed," Kathryn instructed.

Denara used the injection in the already prepared hypo-spray. Harry pulled Kathryn back as the corpse transformed into a member of Species 8472.

"Well that was unexpected," Denara announced.

Main Briefing Room…

"This is Lieutenant Thompson of Starfleet Intelligence," Kathryn introduced the officer who had joined Voyager's senior crew during the briefing.

"Based upon your gathered intelligence we believe it is highly likely Species 8472 is training for an invasion," Thompson said. "We would like you to go back in and gather more data. We are hoping that our uncovering their training operation may make them think twice about trying this tactic if our investigation is revealed. But try not to let your presence be discovered."

"What if that tactic doesn't work?" B'Elanna asked.

"We are preparing high yield transwarp missiles. The simultaneous destruction of all of their training stations might put a big dent in their plans," Thompson answered.

"Let's try the diplomatic solution first. Chakotay…you said you had a date organized with one of them," Kathryn said.

"Yes. Commander Valerie Archer is the being who arranged a date with me," Chakotay answered.

"Tom and Harry will take you back in the Delta Flyer," Kathryn instructed. "Do what you need to do in order to get as much intel as you can."

Delta Flyer…

Kathryn had ordered microcellular scans performed on the entire crew to make sure none of the crewmembers had been replaced with members of Species 8472. After passing their scans HK, Harry, and Chakotay left Voyager in the Delta Flyer. Voyager remained cloaked behind a nearby moon as an extra precaution.

"What did Seska say about your date with this Valerie Archer?" Harry asked as he piloted the craft.

"She told me I should sleep with Valerie if the opportunity came up," Chakotay admitted.

"Really…she wasn't jealous?" HK said surprised.

"No. She doesn't really get jealous. Then again she is quite bisexual," Chakotay replied.

"You should sleep with Valerie. You would be the first human to sleep with a member of Species 8472," Harry pointed out.

"Given the appearance of their natural form that doesn't surprise me. But in human form Valerie is quite appealing," Chakotay admitted.

"Chakotay, this tricorder has been enhanced with a transoptic data-link which should help you access some of their systems," HK said while handing a tricorder to Chakotay. "This type 1 phaser has also been modified to fire the Borg nano-probes we augmented to kill these aliens."

"We're here," Harry announced. "Good luck, Chakotay. If you need any help just call."

"Will do," Chakotay replied before transporting away.

Harry sensed as Chakotay's date moved from dancing and dinner back to Valerie's apartment. When it appeared Chakotay was reticent to move the date further along physically the sex god decided to assist a little. Harry sent a lust projection through a wormhole into Valerie's apartment. The manifestation of the deity's aura transcended species and Chakotay along with Valerie felt an overwhelming urge to get naked together. They did not resist the urge for long.

The next morning Chakotay awoke to find a security team sitting in Valerie's living room when he went looking for her.

"Chakotay to Paris," Chakotay said as he tapped his com badge.

"Don't bother, Chakotay. We are suppressing your com signal," Valerie informed her lover.

"I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage," Chakotay said.

"Yes…as you humans say we caught you with your pants down," Valerie replied. "Now let's talk about how much you know."

OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP – Star Trek Voyager – OP

Harry immediately informed Voyager when the com signal became suppressed. Kathryn was bringing her starship out from behind the moon but was leaving the cloak up until she got closer.

Meanwhile Harry decided to reassure Chakotay. The Fey sent a holographic projection of himself down to Chakotay's position.

Two members of Species 8472 dressed as security officers, Valerie Archer, and Boothby all appeared shocked to see him.

"How did you get in here? This facility is shielded," Boothby demanded.

"You will find the normal laws of science don't apply to me," Harry said. "How's it going Chakotay?"

"I've been better," Chakotay admitted.

Boothby stepped closer and passed his hand through Harry's hologram.

"Ignore him for now," Boothby ordered. "How many ships is Starfleet sending to the Delta Quadrant?"

"Only 1," Chakotay answered. "We only need one."

"How did you find us?" Valerie asked.

"Starfleet detected what looked like a Federation subspace transmission. It wasn't hard from there to locate all of your training facilities in our galaxy," Chakotay said.

"We obviously went a little too far in making our simulation accurate," Boothby mused.

"When will your fleet arrive?" Boothby inquired.

"There won't be any need for a fleet. If we wanted to deal with you we would send a single transwarp warhead to each space station. That would be all that is required to wipe you out. Instead we would like to try the diplomatic approach first," Harry stated.

"Voyager just appeared from under cloak one hundred kilometers from us," Admiral Bullock announced as he walked into the room.

"Raise our shields," Boothby ordered. "Standby all weapons."

"That won't do you any good," Harry assured. "Just because I can't get a living organism through this shield you have up doesn't mean I can't do the same with an anti-matter warhead."

To prove his point transporter light revealed an antimatter warhead. A moment later another transporter beam took the weapon away.

"What do you want?" Boothby asked.

"Let's sit down on Voyager for peace talks. Three of you come. I suggest you Mr. Boothby, Valerie, and the Admiral there," Harry said. "Bring Chakotay."

"Done," Boothby agreed.

"Your Starfleet database does suggest you have high ideals," Admiral Bullock stated. "But your actions don't hold up to those ideals. You infiltrated our recreation, captured, and then killed one of our people."

"We had no intention of killing your person," Harry replied. "He killed himself rather than speak to us. His fear of us was that great."

"You created biological weapons to infect our species and allied yourselves with the Borg," Bullock accused.

"We made a deal with the Borg to get through their space unharmed. At the time you had threatened to purge all life from our galaxy," Kathryn pointed out.

"The Borg are irrelevant. They no longer bother us. It is you humans who pose a threat to our people," Bullock stated.

"You already know we can destroy all of your recreations at once," Kathryn explained. "You have no reason to trust us and we have no reason to trust you."

"I couldn't agree more, Captain," Boothby said.

"You didn't let me finish, Boothby," Kathryn said. "What I was going to say is that we need to learn to trust each other. I propose you assign one of your people to stay on Voyager and learn from us. They can report back what they learn about us. In turn we will learn from them. Knowledge is the only way to effectively combat fear."

"I would like to volunteer," Valerie said while glancing at Chakotay.

"This is not appropriate. We cannot negotiate with these creatures," Bullock declared as he stood.

"Sit down Admiral," Boothby ordered in a commanding tone. Bullock reluctantly sat down. "I think we can agree to that. Let's talk about the finer details of this knowledge exchange.

The talks went on for some time before Voyager moved on with one more crew member.
