AN: This little story popped into my head. I know how it will end and I know what all the chapters will be about, but I only wrote the first chapter. So you might have to wait a bit between chapters. But I just had to write and post it ... just had to.

I don't own Harry Potter and don't make any profit.

Prologue

"You are an insufferable know-it-all Miss Granger," Severus Snape growled staring out of the window.

"Tell me something new," Hermione Granger hissed standing next to him staring in the same direction.

In the distance they saw a few red heads on their brooms.

"You should be out there with them having fun."

"I don't care about Quidditch."

"Do you care about anything that is fun," he inquired.

"Since when do you care about what I care about," she raised an eyebrow looking at him.

"I always did," he whispered stubbornly staring out of the window.

Hermione was silenced by this confession.

"You didn't answer my question Miss Granger," he scowled.

"What was the question?"

He huffed in annoyance, "Do you care about anything that is fun?"

She shrugged her shoulders.

"You should be having fun. Be as carefree as them," he jerked his head towards the Weasley family on their brooms.

"Are you carefree? Are you having fun," she asked in return.

"Why would I?"

"If you are not, why should I," she answered.

"Because you are 20. You have your whole life ahead of you. Just because there has been a war, doesn't mean you have to be serious for the rest of your life. War is over. Live, laugh… Enjoy your life."

"What about you," she inquired.

"What about me," he asked.

"Live, laugh… enjoy your life."

"Please I am 39 years old. My life is basically over. Not really, but my carefree time is behind me. Well, there never was a carefree time. When I was around your age all hell was loose," he shuddered at the thought.

"It's never too late to have fun in life, Professor Snape," she smiled at him. "I think I have an idea. Maybe even a challenge. We will both come up with 5 things the other one has to do to have fun or be carefree."

"We should both do each of the five things. So, it would be 10 things in total," he replied.

"Interesting," she mumbled.

Her face lit up, "So I present us with this challenge. What do you say?"

He held out his hand, "Challenge accepted."

She shook his hand and said, "Me too."

"So how are we going to do it," Hermione asked.

"You write on red pieces of parchment, and I will write on green pieces. We fold them and put them in a jar, and I am only allowed to take your challenges out and you are only allowed to take mine. Once they are in the jar they cannot be tampered with."

"Deal. Do we start right away?"

"Yes, why not."

Both of them started writing on little pieces of parchment. When Hermione looked up the Professor had already put his ideas in the jar. She added hers and started shaking the jar and asked, "So, who is going to take one out first."

"May I, please? And then we take it in turns."

"Yes sure!"

Severus put his hand in the jar and took a red piece of parchment out.

"Watch the sunset," he read aloud.

"How is that fun?" he demanded to know.

"It's not fun but it's carefree," she hissed.

"Ok, well for warm-up it's ok," he chuckled.

Severus put his index finger on his lips, thought for a moment and then said, "Let's meet tomorrow at 7.30pm at Hogwarts main gates."

"Deal," she answered and smiled at him.
