Chapter 14: Perished

Summary:

"We cannot let you back out there," the international arbiter official says, "It's government property and you're still in our custody while we work everything out. You are lucky you are not in handcuffs."

"I don't care!" Han screams, "cuff me to an official, have your guns on me, just let me back out there to search."

It was a blur after Gisele fell to her likely death and now that the fires at the airplane runway were extinguished Han was determined to go find Gisele and he was disgusted with himself that he hadn't done that sooner.

IMPORTANT note on PUBLICATION DATES

my bad, I forget 20s that is not 22 and 27 exists LOL, but the second part of my note hopefully made up for it and I caught this on time before I hit the 20s dates

-so it's every 5 days on average and there likely isn't going to be super super short chapters or 9-parters like when I was starting out and didn't know I what I was doing (and even then I had two chapters at a time posts)

So to repeat:

PUBLICATION DATES will be the 2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th, 22nd, 27th of a month

-but it will only be when I have chapters to publish so if I miss a date the next one in line will be used and so on

Chapter 14: Perished

...

"I don't care!" Han screams, "cuff me to an official, have your guns on me, just let me back out there to search."

"The smoke," the man continues, "And it's dark. We have our officials on it. They are experts."

Han wasn't in his right mind, even he knew that, but it wasn't going to stop him from cursing out the official.

And all Han remembers is being held back by Dom after he got a few punches into the official, Mia trying to talk to him, Brian hugging him again as he cries, and Roman and Tej yelling at the official.

LATER

Gisele's body stirred with a breath, eyes still closed.

"We can save her," the doctor says.

"Your service is no longer, needed," international arbiter says to the Spanish doctor.

"But,"

"I have my team on it. Please attend to the others, your pilots, your crew out there putting out the fire. Make sure they are okay after the smoke. I have this under control."

"Yes, Sir."

The international arbiter then leaves the room after giving instructions to the new crew, and then proceeds to make a phone call.

"Hello Old Friend, I have a proposition for you. I have located something very valuable to you…yes, we will discuss the details of my debt then."

The official returns to the crew after, as if no one touched his standard issue black and white suit and tie.

"There are bodies unaccounted for," the international arbiter official says, "as such we conclude they perished in the fire. One Adolfson as the account says flew through the engine was it? A Hick's body was nearly burnt whole so judging by the timeline Ms. Harabo can be concluded as such. "

"Check again!" Hobbs demands, "Or I'll get my team down here."

"Mr. Hobbs, there is no need. But if you insist go ahead."

Han felt sick at those words.

And felt like he didn't have anything left in him to scream, to fight.

All he could do was think of what he could have done.

If only he fought off Adolfson.

If only he held on to her.

If only they never took this job.

If only he never fell in love with her.

If only he never met her.

Maybe Gisele would be alive like he is.

And Han wouldn't feel the way he did now, like a hurt that wouldn't ever go away.

Story:

This is headcanons if it wasn't clear or if anyone needs a reminder.

-The international arbiter official is just a random corrupt person or for reasons of his debt is forced to hide Gisele's death and I did have the person he was contacting in my early draft but I left it open so it could be Mr. Nobody (if he turns out to be evil or has a larger plan and needed Gisele to stay dead), Cipher, Aimes, Eteon

-Gisele appears to be a low level criminal in her intro in F4 but by F9 I think this leap to someone using her as a bargaining chip isn't outrageous

-I think there is a lot of implying she was undercover by the time they connect her to Mr. Nobody in F9, and now her connection to Cipher in X if it is her and not a twin/doppelganger

-and the Mr. Nobody to Gisele to Braga to Owen to Cipher connections lends to Gisele in the same network/circles; The Agency and Eteon stuff

Nonstory:

-These are intended to be one shot/drabbles so I don't know if I need to expand on this or if most of the chapters will just be setups, like here where I only account for Gisele's body, like can I give partial headcanon answers without giving a whole storyline?

-and now that I have shown one version of an account for Gisele's dead body can I just mention the other explanation versions unless I need it for a chapter?

-I felt I needed some answers even if the readers just want nonplot character moments, so I addressed something before I get back to fluff

-so Gisele's dead body in Furious 6 is addressed (even though they never address Han's we assume Mr. Nobody took care of that and Owen with Letty's?)

Additional long notes and rants:

-I think the option was there for Gisele to be Owen's mole in F6 but I think director Justin Lin loved Han too much to have Han question Gisele's motives and love for Han

-If you read interviews they wanted Han to be sent off in a meaningful way if he had to die and loop back to Tokyo Drift it would be worst if Gisele betrayed them even if she was forced to as he wouldn't see the redemption

-And also liked Gisele too much by then too, although at the time of F6's release Lin and Gal Gadot joked we never saw her body so who knows, but I do believe they never intended to bring Han back until the whole #justiceforhan business (which Lin did admit to)

-and then brought Gisele back likely when the actress got famous as Wonder Woman and for the potential female spinoff (or as Gisele's twin etc)

-to add I think Gisele by 5 had the background more than any character to come back from the dead with her Mossad connections to fake or whatever would lead someone using her, and by F9 when they connect her to Mr. Nobody it feels like it is trending this way

(and think without Justin Lin the studio would have chosen to bring Gisele back over Han given the actresses' new fame or Wonder Woman-adjacent fame

and double down on Deckard's redemption and only by the finale if the backlash is truly terrible they'd have Han back -or not because it's ending and Jason Statham the actor is popular and other fans think saving Little B was enough [even after the #justiceforhan stuff which they can just chalk up to a loud internet minority]

even if logically I think Gisele coming back was more plausible I know people were joking she was too busy or expensive now, so as a result without a guarantee of maybe more than a cameo so Han came back instead first

but now skip to 2022-4 and she probably won't be Wonder Woman bc of a reboot, so we get Gisele back too, or the actress if FF chooses logic and go with Gisele's twin or doppelganger, but I don't think they care and just have another return from the dead -or if she was still scheduled for Wonder Woman would she just not come back for FF? And thinking of how Gisele is back theories etc?)

-if she was the mole then we could have had Monica in place of Riley maybe for those wanting her back (and Lin said they wanted her but couldn't find a place in 6)

- Gisele had the connection to Braga who was revealed to be connected to Owen so again that could make her the mole and if they want her to have a redemption then it's a mole bc of circumstances like she owed him a favor and not because Gisele was evil; cause now you have to ask why she seems to be in Cipher's network of people so either she was also a mole and needed to still be under or so she wouldn't reveal herself and Riley is still needed for the cast

[if you read my other fic rants then you know I fear they'll break Han and Gisele up after going through all this (if it is Gisele and not a twin etc) if spinoffs happen and both aren't in it together so I rather have them both be dead at that point instead maybe]
