CHAPTER 3
BAM!
Marlin was knocked out and fell to the ground after running into something, or rather running into someone. He groaned in pain and held his head. Right beside him a few feet away he heard someone else groaning as well.
"Oh! Sorry! I didn't see you!" he heard the person beside him said. Marlin could tell from the way the voice sounded was a woman. She got up and walked over to him "Sir, are you okay?" she asked him.
Marlin didn't respond, besides the headache from bumping into the woman, he felt a different kind of pain. The pain of heartache coming back. Marlin recollecting his thoughts and began recalling the events that played before him up to this moment. Remembering everything.
His son, Nemo, was kidnapped.
He had lost the truck that took him.
He may never see his son again!
And it was all his fault!
"He's gone!" Marlin mumbled to himself, sitting on the ground with his hands to his head, ignoring the woman leanining beside him.
"There, there," the woman spoke soothingly, slowly but gently placed her hand on his shoulder, knowing he looked like he needed some comfort.
"No, he's gone!"
"It's alright. It'll be okay"
"No no, they took him away!" Marlin half-shouted and got back on his feet "I have to find the truck!" he cried, looking around desperatly.
"A truck? Hey! I've seen a truck!" the woman exclaimed, making Marlin whip his head back in a flash.
"You have!?" "Uh-huh! Drove pass by me not too long ago" she told him "A white one? Looks like a delivery truck?" Marlin questioned, trying to look in which ever the direction she saw it drive by.
The woman was silent for a second, until she stuck her hand out to him and responded to him cheerfully "Hi. I'm Dory, Dory Tang" "Where!? Which way!?" Marlin didn't have time for introductions. He just need her to tell him where the truck went, and quick. "Oh, oh oh! It went, um...this way! It went this way! Follow me!" the woman, Dory, pointed confidently and proceeded to run off.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Marlin called out, following behind her. "No problem!" Dory said in response, continuing to lead the way.
Marlin followed behind Dory, having a a ray of hope building back within him, seeing that this one person was helping him find the truck. As such, Marlin began to finally take note of this person before him.
Marlin looked up, examined and saw from appearance, Dory seemed a bit taller than him, by a few inches. However despite her height, she looked a bit younger than him, maybe in her mid 20's roughly around twenty-five or twenty-six at the most. Marlin also noticed Dory had interesting color of hair. She had long blue hair that was tied back in a braided fishtail ponytail, and yellow tipped side bangs framing her face. Marlin noticed Dory was wearing yellow wrist cuffs. And her outfit she wore was a blue elbow length shirt, dark blue denim overall shorts, black tights, and yellow flat knee high boots.
Didn't matter what she looked like or how tall she was, or how she dressed. She was helping him finding his son, Marlin was at least glad that she was willing to show him the way to the truck.
Marlin continued to follow behind Dory, leading him on the direction where the truck went. However soon Marlin began to noticed Dory's running slowed down a bit, he also noticed that she began skip with each step. He found it odd.
Dory then looked back at him before whipping her head back, looking straight. Marlin watched this and raised a curious brow to her. Dory looked back over her shoulder again before running off in a different direction.
This confused Marlin, but he ran after her. Dory still ahead of him, noticed Marlin still following her before running the opposite direction, running into a rough looking neighborhood.
"Hey, wait!" Marlin called out to her, trying to catch up to her. However Dory, still kept on running ahead of him. Running zig zags, as she did before coming to a post. Dory and Marlin facing eachother as Dory tried to move one way, but Marlin kept followed her. She tried the other, but he still kept on followed her.
Dory once again ran ahead before stopping "Will you quit it?" she shouted, turning back with her fists balled up "What?" Marlin asked in bewilderment.
"I'm trying to walk here!" Dory told him angerly, Marlin stood looking more confused. So Dory continued "What? The whole city isn't big enough for you?" Marlin tried to speak "What are you-?" "You got a problem, buddy?" she interjected "Huh? Huh? Do you? Do you? Do you?" Dory proceeded to get right up in Marlin's face. Leaving Marlin more utterly confused, as her freckled face was so close he looking straight into her magenta colored eyes.
Dory then took a step back to do some attempted karate moves "You want a piece of me? Yeah, I'm scared now. What!" Dory continued as Marlin still stood, looking more confused at the woman. Thinking he was on some prank tv show. and at a moment come camera crew will pop right out. However Marlin still tried to get her attention.
"Wait a minute-" "Stop following me, okay Ginger!" Dory shouted. Marlin having enough "What are you talking about? You were showing me which way the truck went!" he finally spoke, almost at his wit's end, wondering what was wrong with this woman in front of him?
Dory stopped and soon her anger melted way back to happiness "A truck? Hey! I've seen a truck!" she exclaimed "It drove pass by me not to long ago! It went, um...this way! It went this way! Follow me!" Dory pointed and began to run off again.
Marlin didn't follow her this time and just frowned, having a feeling a déjà vu. Marlin stood and glared, realizing they just did this before.
He shook his head for a second "Wait a minute! Wait a minute!" Marlin ran and blocked the blue haired woman. "What is going on? You already told me which way the truck was going!" he shouted, almost at his breaking point.
"I did?" Dory asked, standing still and looking confused. Before a look of realization appeared on her face, as she placed her hand against her forehead "Oh no..."
"If this is some kind of practical joke, it's not funny!" Marlin growled "And I know funny! I used to be a comedian!" he added, more upset than ever. Here he was, having hope that this woman would help him find his son. And now to see she was just playing some kind of game with him, making him running around and repeating things. For whatever kind of game she was trying to play, Marlin had no time for this.
While he was here dealling with this woman's problem, his son was probably miles away, he could be hurt or worse. Marlin just didn't have time and patience for whatever this woman wanted.
"No it's not, I know it's not. I'm so sorry" Dory agreed and apologized, being a little flustered. However she continued wanting the man to know "You see, I suffer from Short-term Memory Loss" she told him.
"Short. Term. Memory. Loss..." Marlin repeated slowly, Dory nodding at each word.
Marlin stood in shocking bewilderment by what he just learned. So what he just saw was all had to due with some forgetful mental illness. He began to walk away and let out a small laugh, still not finding it comical "I don't believe this!" "No, it's true!" Dory insisted, running back to stop him.
"I forgot things almost instantly." she added. "It runs in my family, or at least I think it does?" Dory said, at the mention of her family she began to look away "Where are they...?" she muttered to herself.
She stood in deep thought looking puzzled for a moment, she turned back to Marlin who just stood there looking at her with such confusion.
Both stayed quiet for a good awkward seconds. Before Dory just smiled and brightly asked "Can I help you?"
Marlin still stood looking at this woman before him. His once ray of hope had vanished, seeing that he has no more time and patience with Dory. "Something's wrong with you, really." he said bluntly, before taking a step back "You're wasting my time. I have to find my son" Marlin turned on his heel and started to walk away.
Marlin looked over his shoulder to see Dory standing there clueless. He just sighed and turned away. He had so much hope for this blue haired woman, now that it faded away, he had to think of another way to find his son.
Before Marlin could even begin, he gasped and stood in his tracks as he soon came face to face with a giant man.
The man was stood tall leaning down to stare at Marlin. Just the sight of this giant man made him have a scary appeal. He was well built size, with lots of muscles. He had black hair and long side burns and gray eyes. He wore a spiked choker collar around his thick neck, wore a white t-shirt and a dark bluish jacket with the sleeves ripped off to show his muscle tone arms. He wore ripped jeans with a chain hanging off the side, and a pair of black boots.
The giant man stood and grinned, showing his rather unusual sharp teeth. "Hello" he greeted.
Marlin froze in fear, staring at this man before him. He felt himself beginning to shake at the presence of this scary looking man. "Well hi!" Dory came to Marlin's side, gleefully greeting the man. "Name's Bruce" the man extended his hand to the two.
Marlin looked to see Bruce wore leather biker gloves with spikes on the knuckles. Marlin took a tiny step back while Dory stared at Bruce's hand.
Bruce let out a tiny chuckle as his hand returned to his side. "It's alright, I understand." he said, starting to turn and back away "Why trust a gangster, right? Who especially happens to be the leader of the Shark Gang" he added, showing the symbol patch on his jacket of a shark jaw. Just as Marlin thought the gangster departed, Bruce suddenly spun back around and shot his fist out towards his guests, the spiked knuckles almost towards their faces. Giving them a scare.
Marlin jumped and let out an tiny, and rather unmanly, shriek. He hid behind Dory, who was just standing in her place, not frightened at all. Didn't even flinch.
Bruce dropped his fist and began to burst out laughing. He continued to laugh until his sides ached. Marlin slowly took a peek to see the gangster laughing like a mad man. Dory just stood smiling at the gangster, wondering why was he laughing at something.
Bruce's laughter soon died down, once he was calm he smiled down at his guests and began to circle around them like a predator. "So, what's a couple of city folks like you doing out so late?" "Nothing!" Marlin replied quickly, finding his voice. "We're not doing anything. We're not even out" Marlin added, still hiding behind Dory. "Great!" Bruce exclaimed, stopping in front of them "Then how'd you two like to come to a little...a little get-together I'm having?" he asked them.
Marlin didn't like the sound of that. Dory on the other hand "You mean like a party?" she asked excitedly. Seeing this made Bruce laugh "Yeah, right a party. What do you say?" he walked over behind the two.
"Oh, I love parties!" Dory squealed, smiling and clapping her hands "That sounds like fun!" she turned to Marlin, seeing him slowly walking away. "Parties are fun, and the offer is tempting." Marlin took Dory by the hand and both began to try and leave "But we can't, you see-" "Come on, I insist" Bruce said, coming from behind the two. He draped his arms over the two's shoulders, making Marlin stiff "Okay...that's all that matters, I guess" was all Marlin could say.
Bruce began to lead the two to his car, opening the back door for his guests. Dory got in and was practically jumping in her seat, excited for the party. Marlin slowly got in, still afraid of what the gangster was going to do to him. By the time Bruce got in his driver's seat, he started his car and began to drive off.
During the drive, Dory was asking Bruce a ton of questions on the party, but Bruce just laughed at her bubbly positivity. Marlin just remained quiet during the whole ride.
Marlin turned to look outside his window to see that it was getting rather dark. He looked to see they were driving into a rather rougher looking neighborhood. Marlin could just tell they had arrived into one of the rougher and crime spree neighborhoods he heard so much about on the news back home. Seeing that there were more different gangs around with their vehicles, scantily clad women hanging around the streetlights, and a couple of random shady looking people just looking at him as they passed by. Marlin couldn't help but gulp, knowing he was rather far away from his suburban home of Barrier Reef.
Bruce looked out his window and smiled "Here we are!" he exclaimed and stopped the car. He got out and opened the door for Marlin and Dory.
Once the two stepped out, both looked to see where they were. They stopped by a large abandoned run down building, most likely it used to be a factory of some kind. "Not much, but we Sharks call this our hideout. Ain't it homey?" Bruce said, leading his guests inside "Is this one of those secret warehouse parties?" Dory asked "Ha ha, you crack me up Missy" Bruce laughed as he continued to lead them inside.
"Hey are those kegs over there, they for the party?" Dory pointed to large barrels "Mind yourselves, those barrels have gallons of gasoline in them. One little spark could cause a firework display greater than 4th of July" Bruce explained to them, Dory just smiled thinking there were going to be fireworks at the party.
Marlin just stayed quiet, but looking at this old building made him make more unmanly sounds.
"Anchor! Chum!" once inside, Bruce called out. There two men appeared.
One man had tan skin tone, was tall and lean wearing a bandana wrapped around his shaved head. He wore a tan muscle shirt, ripped jeans, chains and boots. He wore a ripped sleeved jacket just like Bruce's. On one of his muscled arms he had a tattoo of a anchor, thus given his name Anchor.
The other man was a bit skinny but still had some muscles. He had shaggy dark brown hair. His clothes he wore was the same ripped sleeve jacket like Bruce and Anchor, a white tank top, baggy pants and sneakers. On his face consisted of piercings, from a hook like piercing on his nose to a small piercing on his eyebrow. He was none other than the other member of the Shark Gang, Chum.
"There you are Bruce, finally" Anchor greeted him, speaking with a Aussie accent, both doing their Shark handshake, Bruce turned to Chum doing the same. "We got company" Bruce told them, pushing Dory and Marlin in. Both Anchor and Chum smiled down at their new guests. "It's about time, mate!" "Come on let's get this over with" both of them stated.
Dory looked more excited, ready to party with these people. Marlin however looked at the two other members of the Shark Gang and began to shut and cover his eyes, not wanting to see what they had planned for him and Dory.
*DING*
Marlin shook in fear, but when hearing the sound of the bell he slowly took a peek. He began to noticed he was seated in a chair. He looked up to see Dory sitting beside him, Anchor and Chum in their own chairs and Bruce standing up front of a podium. Seeing this confused Marlin, he thought he was going to die at the hands of these gangsters, but they didn't seem interested in hurting him at all.
Bruce cleared his throat "Right, then. Our meeting has official come to order" Bruce stated in a formal tone. "Let us all say the pledge." he added, raising his hand up, Anchor and Chum raising their hands as well. Dory smiled and raised her hand, even though she had no idea what was going on. Marlin sat in his chair gaping at the scene.
And so the Shark Gang began to recited their pledge "I am a nice gangster, not a mindless killing machine. If I am to change this image, I must first change myself. People are our friends, not victims."
"I'll tell you one group of people who I can't stand, cheerleaders!" Anchor stated, turning to Chum "Cheerleaders? Oh don't get me started! Annoying bunch they are!" Chum said "They're worse than dolphins! Always putting on a show, full of cheap preppiness with their flips and their 'Rah Rah Go Team Go!'" Chum began to act out silly, getting Anchor to laugh. Marlin sat staring at the Shark Gang, seeing that they seem so different than he expected.
Bruce cleared his throat again getting the two back to the meeting "Right then. Today's meeting is step five. Bring a neighbor or friend." Bruce went on "Now, do you all have your friends?" Bruce asked.
"Got mine" Anchor responded, turning to his seat to show a small, meek, nerdy looking man sitting by. He just sat in his seat hyperventilating, looking more terrified. "Hey there!" Dory waved to him, but he didn't wave back, Marlin almost knowing that feeling.
"How about you Chum?" Bruce turned to Chum, who looked nervous about something "Oh, I um...seem to have misplaced my, um, friend..." Chum answered, when he turned in his chair, something fell out of his pocket. Marlin looked down to see it was a wallet and a switchblade, he gasped seeing that both had been stained of blood, and from the wallet that seemingly possibly belonged to Chum's friend. Chum gathered his blade and the wallet, stuffing the items in his jacket pocket and smiled and chuckled innocently.
As everyone turned their attention to Chum, no one seemed to noticed the nerdy man getting up from his chair. He slowly but surely walked away backwards, and managed to make his escape without anyone looking.
Bruce laughed a bit "It's alright Chum," he said with a smile "I had a feeling this would be a difficult step. You can help yourself to one of my friends" Bruce said, gesturing to Marlin and Dory. Just then Marlin felt an arm draped over his shoulders "Thanks mate! A little chum for Chum, eh?" Chum said, bring Marlin closer to him. At the moment Marlin let out another unmanly sound, making Chum just chuckle at him.
"I'll start the testimonies today," Bruce stood straight at attention at the podium and began "Hello, my name is Bruce." "Hello Bruce" Anchor and Chum replied dully, as though they all had done this way too many times.
Bruce continued "It has been 3 weeks since I last got into a fight with a random citizen just by stealing some cash on him. On my honor, or I will be thrown into the slammer for life" he stated with a hand up. Chum and Anchor began to clap for their leader "You're an inspiration to all of us" "Amen!" both stated, continuing to applaud. Dory joined the two gangsters and clapped, Marlin tried but Chum's arm still hanging on his shoulders, was hard to do so.
"Right, who's next?" Bruce asked, looking to among the 4 "Oh! Oh! Pick me! Pick me!" Dory fidgeted in her seat, her hand waving high in the air so wanting to be picked. Bruce smiled and chuckled "Yes, the little sheila down the front" Dory whooped and made her way up to the podium.
Dory turned and waved "Hi. I'm Dory" "Hello Dory" the gangsters replied. "And well..." Dory began to pounder her words "I don't think I ever got into a fight with anyone before" she told them, not sure how they respond to her answer. There was a few seconds before the gangsters clapped their hands. "Hey that's incredible!" Chum said in awe "Good on you, mate!" Bruce congratulated, giving her a thumbs up. Dory gave a sigh of relief "Glad I got that off my chest" she said to herself, placing a hand over her chest.
"Alright anyone else?" Bruce asked looking around, before his eyes caught to the reddish orange color of hair, belonging to the man who had been quiet the whole time. "How about you, mate? What's you're problem?" Bruce asked Marlin, Chum raised his arm off as Marlin stood "Me? I don't-I don't have a problem" Marlin answered quickly in a blink of an eye. "Oh okay" Bruce replied.
However the Sharks didn't look convinced and looked to eachother knowing "Denial" they said. Bruce then shoved Marlin up towards the podium with a little force than necessary. Dory walked by pass him giving him a thumbs up. "Just start with your name" Bruce told him.
Marlin gulped and shook a bit in fear "Hello, my name is Marlin. Marlin Clowfisch." Marlin introduced himself, waving a little bit "I'm a Marine Biologist, but I used to be a comedian-" "A comedian, really?" before Marlin had a chance to continue, the Sharks got out of their seats and stood by the podium all excited. "You said your names Clowfisch, like that comedian 'Clownfish' Clowfisch? You are hilarious man!" Anchor said all excitedly, seeing a great comedian right in front of him.
Marlin was taken back a bit, he was surprised that the Shark Gang heard of him and that they still thought of him being hilarious.
"Well I've retired being a comedian. I haven't performed in so long" he tried to tell them "Oh come on, mate. Tell us a joke!" Bruce insisted "I love jokes!" Chum said, laughing a bit.
Marlin looked a bit embarrassed for a second "Well, I actually do know one of my jokes that's pretty good" Marlin laughed a bit. The Sharks and Dory gathered getting ready to hear said joke.
"There is a doctor and a pony and they're in the doctor's office, normally a scenario like that is strange. Like why would a pony be at the doctor's when he could've gone to a vet? So the doctor asks the pony "Why the long face?" and the pony replies to him, which again is strange to have a talking pony. But in a joke, all animals talk." Marlin began to once again ramble on explaining his joke.
The Shark Gang stood in their places as their smiles began to slowly fade away, just hearing Marlin rambling made them loose interest. Dory however just smiled, listening and wondering when the joke will get funny.
"So the pony says to the doctor-" before Marlin could continue on, something caught his attention.
Marlin looked up ahead and saw something green caught his eyes. Squinting his eyes, he looked to see they were green and black goggles just on the ground amongst the rest of the trash.
Something about these goggles seemed strangely familiar to Marlin. He couldn't put his finger on it. He stared at them for a second seconds.
Before it finally hit him...
Marlin began to think back at the events that happened no more than hours ago. He remembered how afraid he was when one of the mecha men had him cornered by the fence.
While the other held his son in his grasp. Marlin still didn't know who these mecha men were, or why they wanted his son. But the only thing he took noticed were the strange goggles they wore.
Marlin remembered making eye contacted with his son before a napsack was thrown on his head. Marlin could still hear his son's cries for help
"Daddy!"
"Nemo!"
"Nemo!" Chum began to guffawed, while Bruce and Anchor looked rather unimpressed. Dory looked confused as she watched Marlin walking away from the podium. Chum continued to laugh and guffaw until he stopped "I don't get it" he said, his smile dropping. "No wonder he retired being a comedian, he's not that funny anymore" Bruce muttered to the gang.
Marlin however ignored them "No no, he's my son." he told them, walking passed them "He was taken away from me, by these men...wearing these strange mecha suits" he retold the events and walked over to where the goggles lay. Hearing this, Dory gasped and covered her mouth. "Oh my, you poor man..." she whispered sympathetically, and began to follow behind him.
When the Shark Gang heard of this, they too were shocked. Sure they are gangsters and they have done some crimes, but they would never commit a crime like kidnapping little kids. That's where they draw the line.
"What is the world coming to? Kidnapping little kids, what kind of heartless people would do that?" Chum scoffed in disgust "Probably sickos more like" Anchor agreed in disgust. The two then heard sniffling, turning to Bruce as tears swelled in his eyes. They were surprised to see with tough leader shedding tears. "Now there is a father, looking for his little boy" Bruce teared, trying to wipe them away but continued to cry "I never knew my father!" he sobbed and wailed out loud.
Seeing their leader cry, Chum and Anchor made their way to give him a group hug "Come here, group hug" "We're all mates here" Anchor and Chum said as they comforted him.
Once Marlin was close enough, he ran over and picked up the goggles. He examined them in his hand, no doubt these goggles did belong to one of the same mecha men that took Nemo.
He turned the goggles over to find some strange writing, written on the back of the strap "What does this mean? What does it say?" Marlin asked himself, adjusting his glasses. Marlin tried to read the writing but he couldn't make it out. He didn't even know what language it was written in. Marlin didn't look up to noticed Dory standing by him. He was too focused on what the writing was.
He remebered taking some language courses in highschool, but that was a long while ago since.
It didn't look like Spanish or French, wasn't German or Arabic, what was the writing?
"I can't read this language!" Marlin was frustrated, he found a clue but he couldn't even read it. Dory smiled and took the goggles from him "Well then we gotta find someone who can read this" she told him before turning back to the gangsters. "Look, gangsters! Guys!" Dory began to ran back to the group. "No Dory!" Marlin ran back to stop her, getting a bad feeling about this idea of hers.
"Hey guys!" Dory called out, trying to get their attention "Dory no!" Marlin stopped her and grabbed the goggles from her "Hey I had that!" Dory grabbed the goggles. Both held onto the strap and began to have their own tug-of-war.
"Dory this is a bad idea!" "I think I know what I'm doing!" "Cut it out!" "Give it to me!" "Dory no!" "Give it!" both pulled and tugged on the goggles. Until Marlin let got as Dory pulled too hard which made the goggles smack her in her face, and made her fall onto the floor with some boxes.
"Ow! Ow!" Dory moaned in pain, clutching her hands over her nose. Marlin rushed to her side "I'm sorry. Are you okay?" Marlin asked. kneeling beside her "You really clocked me there" Dory responded, still with her hands to her nose. "Let me see" Marlin asked, as he slowly removed Dory's hands away from her face. He saw that her nose was bleeding a bit "Am I bleeding?" she asked "I'm so sorry" Marlin apologized and tried to help her up.
Bruce came over to see what was wrong "Dory, are you okay..." Bruce looked at the blue haired woman. He stopped as he noticed something red trickling down her nose.
Bruce was silent for a good minute, he didn't even move. He then raised his hand and wiped Dory's blood away with his large thumb. Seeing the blood he began to revert back into a stage of lost memory and thrill he had experienced before. Almost as if he had some kind of post traumatic scene. Seeing this both Marlin and Dory were confused to what was Bruce doing. Bruce however was in his own little world as he stared at the red color on his thumb. He moved his thumb to his nose to get a good whiff, before smearing the blood across his face. He looked up with a most sinister look, a look a horror movie character would have when he's ready to kill. He grinned sinisterly, slowly cracked his fingers until they were in fists "That's good...!"
Marlin held onto Dory and took a slow step back, not liking the look on Bruce's face as he pulled out his switchblade.
"INTERVENTION!"
Before Bruce could bring his blade down, Anchor and Chum charged towards their leader and slammed him into the wall. "I just want to see his blood!" Bruce tried to fight against their hold "Hold it together mate!" Anchor shouted, as Bruce thrashed about as Chum tried to remind him "Remember, people are our friends, not victims!"
With a shout, Bruce knocked the pair off him and started to rush towards Marlin and Dory "Dory look out!" Marlin yelled, grabbing Dory's wrist. Both ran as they saw a door and made their escape.
However they heard Bruce running after them as he shouted out "I'M GONNA DO SOME KILLING TONIGHT!"
Marlin and Dory ran though the building trying to find an escape route out of the building, every turn they made they would come across Bruce, as he was hot on their trail. Jumping and surprising them, running on their tail to kill with his blade in his hand, waving it around to strike at them.
Both Marlin and Dory screamed at the sight, and continued to run for their lives. Knowing they had to get away from this mental gangster as quick as possible before Bruce's blade is stained with their blood.
"G'day!" Bruce greeted them as he appeared behind a corner. Marlin and Dory ran the opposite way "This way!" Marlin exclaimed, pointing to an open door.
Marlin and Dory ran as fast as their legs could, they got through the door, Marlin turned and quickly shut the door on Bruce. This knocked him out for a good moment. Seeing this as an advantage, Marlin began to barricade the door with items he found in the room.
However Bruce got back up and began to beat against the door with his full strength. "There's no way out! There's gotta be a way to escape!" Marlin looked around the room, trying to find some way out of the room.
Dory turned to the door as Bruce continued to bang and smash against it. "Who is it?" she asked in a singing voice "Dory, help me find a way out!" Marlin called out to her, wanting her to get away from the door. "Sorry, you'll gonna have to come back later. We're trying to escape" Dory said as she ran to help Marlin.
Marlin looked high and low but didn't see any way out. He began to panic as he turned to see most of the barricade was knocked over, and in a few seconds Bruce would storm right in.
"There's gotta be a way out!" Marlin continued to frantically search for an escape. "Look, here's something!" he turned to see Dory pointing a hatch on the ceiling. "'Effugium.' Wonder what it means?" Dory read the strange writing on the hatch. She chuckled to herself and looked at the word "That's funny, it means just like the word 'escape' in Latin. Funny thing about Latin-" "Let's go!" Marlin grabbed Dory's wrist as they both began to climb up and escaped through the hatch.
At that very moment, the door crashed to the ground, revealing a sinister smiling gangster "Here's Brucey!"
Marlin and Dory ran for a bit before they made it outside on top of the roof of the building. Both stopped a bit to catch their breath.
Just then Marlin paused and let go of Dory's wrist. "Wait a minute, back there on the hatch. You said it was Latin?" Marlin looked at her as Dory nodded "Why?" she asked him. Before realizing it "You can read Latin?" Marlin pointed at her in shocking disbelief "I can read Latin? Yeah! I can read Latin!" Dory nodded furiously at him upon realizing.
Marlin took out the goggles and looked at the writing, now realizing what the language was. It was Latin!
"It's in Latin! Here Dory, read this now!" Marlin held out the goggles for Dory to imminently read. Just then the door swung open to reveal Bruce, making Dory and Marlin scream and jump away. Marlin then looked back to his hands to find the goggles were gone. But when he turned he found the goggles were somehow attached to Bruce's chain.
Marlin and Dory slowly backed away as Bruce slowly walk towards them. "He really doesn't mean it! He never even knew his father!" "Don't fall off the wagon!" they both heard Anchor and Chum shouting out as they made their way up to the roof, trying to help them and stop their leader.
Marlin and Dory continued to slowly backed until they were near the ledge of the roof, both realizing they were trapped!
Marlin looked over the ledge of the roof and down to the ground to see some bags of fertilizer. Seeing as there was no other way "Dory, we're gonna have to jump!" "Okay, let's go!" Dory grabbed his wrist "Wait! Wait!" "Whoo!" both of them took a leap and fell to the ground screaming, luckily landed on the bags of fertilizer. "I wasn't ready!" Marlin exclaimed, but before Dory could reply, both heard a sound of gun firing "Got a huge problem, partner!" Dory exclaimed looking back up "He has a gun with him!?" Marlin was more frightened. And the two ran as quick as Bruce fired another bullet.
Bruce made it down to the ground, jumping and landed with ease. He continued to pursue after the two, firing off some bullets. Marlin and Dory ran to the other side of the building, and found the fire escape "You gotta be kidding me!? There was a fire escape here!?" Marlin was just about to have enough of this crazy madness. However they heard Bruce making his way, and both ran up the steps.
"There's no where left to go!" Marlin exclaimed, seeing that the steps on the upper level were damaged and broken off, too far to reach. Seeing that he and Dory were trapped once again.
With all his strength Bruce began to pound on the mental steps, hoping to shake Marlin and Dory down. Anchor and Chum found them and once again tried to stop Bruce. Trying to talk to them as Bruce continued banging and pounding on the steel of the steps.
"Sorry about-" *BANG* "Bruce mate!" Chum apologized to them.
"Here's really-" *BANG* "A nice guy!" Anchor tried to tell them.
Seeing as there's no way out they had escape and get back the goggles.
"I need to get those goggles back" Marlin said, trying to think of way to get them and escape unharm. Dory heard him and turned back, getting an idea of her own. "You want those goggles? Ok!" with that Dory began to shake and rock the metal steps until finally of years of old bolts the fire escape steps broke and began to slide down to the ground, with Marlin and Dory. "No! No! No! No!" Marlin screamed with fright and Dory screamed whooped with glee on this ride.
They slide until they were near Bruce, both landed on the ground by Bruce's feet "Dory get the goggles!" Marlin ordered as he got back up. Dory looked to see the goggles still attached to Bruce's chain, she grabbed them, getting up and ran to Marlin's side.
Marlin and Dory screamed and quickly ran away from the gangster, Bruce pulled out his gun once more and fired the remaining bullets.
Both bullets shot passed the two, flying by missing them by a long shot. One of them hit the barrel of gasoline, making it crack and gas leaking out. The other bullet began to hit and bounce off targets before hitting by steel. The target somehow made a spark of fire which caught a small blaze to some garbage. As such the gas continued to leak in one of the barrels as it made a stream towards the fire.
Anchor and Chum looked upon seeing the scene before them, both looking frightened as they watched the gasoline slowly spilling out of the barrel.
"Oh no..." "Bruce..." Anchor and Chum moaned warningly "What?" Bruce said, finally coming to his senses. Soon a strange smell filled the air, the smell of gas. The Shark gang turned to see the small fire and the stream of gasoline trickling closer to the fire.
"Run away! Run away! Run for your lives!" Bruce screamed and he, Anchor and Chum began to high tailed away. Running away in the opposite direction, knowing the outcome of fire and gas together.
Out of there hiding place from the gangster, Dory took a peek "Aw, is the party over?" she wondered disappointed.
Marlin however pulled her back in their hiding spot and both took a duck for cover.
Fire and gas met and soon an explosion burst throughout the old abandon factory. The whole area around blew up with flames and smoke from that one explosion. Fire, metal and other debris flying up from the explosion.
Lighting up the night sky with it's fiery glow in the city.
Elsewhere miles away, two men where hanging out and about outside of a bar.
One man caught a whiff of something foul and horrid. He was smelling gas, but to him it was something else. He frown and glared at his buddy, thinking he cut one. "Nice" he told him before walk away in disgust, leaving his friend standing in his place confused. Having no clue to what he did wrong.
