4.
Rafael took one look at where Lisa was pointing and rushed out his front door.
"Hey, you two!" he snapped at Torino and Jaben, "Cool it!"
The two boys immediately stopped their attack. Lisa ran over to check on Jacen. Fortunately, he was okay.
"What do you two hotheads think you're doing?!" snapped Rafael as the lights came on in the trailer behind him.
"We caught this guy skulking around the camp!" insisted Torino
"I wasn't skulking," retorted Jacen, "I was sitting on my bike, waiting for Lisa, I brought her here to see your healer and I'm her ride back to Pine Hollow!"
"Well why didn't you say so," said Jaben
"I wasn't exactly given a chance." Retorted Jacen, "You two just jumped me and started swinging!"
Rafael glared at Torino and Jaben.
"What's going on here?" asked Vito as he and Rafael's mother arrived.
"These two attacked one of Lisa's friends, Father." Replied Rafael pointing to Jaben and Torino.
Vito shot his two would be security guards an annoyed look.
"You know," he growled at them, "I'm getting really tired of the way you two always swing first and ask questions later!"
Then he turned to Lisa.
"Lisa," he said curiously, "Not that we're not glad to see you, but what brings you here at this time of night?"
"I had to make an emergency visit to your healer Cassandra." Replied Lisa
"Is something wrong," asked Rafael concerned.
"Not with me," replied Lisa, "At Pine Hollow, some of the guest riders staying there drugged a couple of the chaperones and snuck off to a party. It turned out the antidote for the drug they used is Wanderer's Heart extract. Cassandra was the closest place to get some."
"Speaking of which," said Jacen, "We should hurry back."
Lisa nodded and they hurried toward the bike.
"Keep me posted," Rafael called after Lisa. Lisa nodded and waved.
As Lisa climbed onto the bike, she could hear Rafael talking to his father.
"Father," he was saying, "I think we should reconsider having Torino and Jaben stand guard, before they become more trouble than they're worth."
Vito's answer was lost as Jacen fired up the motorbike.
A few minutes later Lisa was back at Pine Hollow watching as Max gave each of the Chaperones a small dose of the extract.
The effect was almost immediate and the Chaperones began to wake up.
"What's going on?" asked one of them rubbing her eyes.
"Yeah," said another shaking his head to try and clear it.
"Long story short," replied Jacen, "Jake Turner drugged you so he and several of his cohorts could sneak off to a midnight party in the basement of the Willow Creek Hotel."
"And I'll bet I know who his cohorts are," snapped the first chaperone, a woman named Cathy Parker.
"Yeah," said Steve Gardner, the other Chaperone, "It's got to be Satoshi, Aimee Tucker and Kelsey Chambers they're always in on these stunts with him."
Jacen looked at his watch. It was half past midnight.
"The party should be in full swing by now," he said, "If we want to bust them, we'd better get over to that hotel."
The others nodded and headed for their vehicles. The girls jumped, in the truck with Max, and Jacen jumped on his motorbike.
Soon a four-vehicle motorcade was on its way to the Willow Creek Hotel. When they arrived, Max gave Lisa back the wanderer's heart extract and sent her and the girls to check on the other Chaperones, who were staying at the hotel, in case they had been drugged too. His suspicions were justified.
After waking them up, they met up with Max, Jacen and the others and headed to the basement. They could hear the thumping party music before they even reached the top of the basement stairs.
The partying teenagers were more than a little surprised when the basement door was thrown open and Max, Jacen and the other Chaperones strode into the room.
The party goers froze. All looking like the proverbial deer in the headlights.
Max turned and looked and kid running the sound system.
"Turn that off!" he snapped. The music switched off and Max turned back to the other partyers."
"Alright," snapped Max, "The party's over!"
He pointed at Satoshi, Jake, Aimee and Kelsey.
"You four," he growled in a tone let left no room for argument, "outside and in the cars now!"
