CHAPTER 14

In just a few hours of the day the whole sky began change from sunny, to be cloudy and gloomy all of a sudden. Elsewhere in part of Sydney, Nigel, Marlin and Dory had made their escape from the mental hospital and were soon rested far away. All 3 rested by a bench catching their breaths seeing as they ran all the way, none even bother to question the change of weather.

Nigel and Dory were huffing and puffing trying to get themselves together, but their attention was turned to Marlin. He just sat on the bench, not saying a word, and not even looking up. And even if he did, both saw the grim sadness on his face.

He had witnessed and feared the most, seeing his own son laying on the bed...dead.

He was too late.

Dory and Nigel turned to eachother trying to figure out what to do or say before Nigel walked over "...I'm so sorry...truly I am..." he placed a hand on Marlin's shoulder, hoping to comfort him. Marlin looked up at the pilot with so much sadness in his eyes. Nigel looked at the man and it broke his own heart "...Thank you for trying to help us Nigel" was all Marlin could say "...I'm sorry about your friends" Marlin then turned away from the man and got on his feet. "...They're strong, I know they'll think of some other way to be free. But if there's any chance-" "No, it's okay...you've done enough" Marlin cut the pilot off.

Nigel stared at the broken hearted man and gave a sad nod "Well...I guess I'll be leaving you two then...goodbye" he bid them farewell and began to walk away, still feeling sad and guilty this had to happen to that man he helped.

Dory couldn't help but sadly waved at the man that helped them, she then whipped her head around to see Marlin sadly walking away "Hey..." Dory called out following after him.

Marlin stopped for a brief moment "Dory...If it wasn't for you, I never even would have made it here" he told her "So, thank you." he thanked her for everything she had done. However Dory wasn't convinced or even leaving, just standing there looking confused. So Marlin began on his way again.

"Hey, wait a minute. Wait!" Dory ran after him, she cut him off by standing in his way "Where are you going?" "It's over, Dory...we were too late..." Marlin told her and finally looked up at her with so much sadness and heartbreak in his eyes "Nemo's gone...and I'm going home now." Marlin walked around her and was on his way once again. "No. No, you can't!" Dory shook her head, watching this man leave her.

Dory stood watching this man walk away from her, she didn't know what to do or say to make him stay. But she knew what she had to tell him "Stop!"

And with that, she had seen Marlin stopped in his tracks once more, but he did not look up at her. "Please don't go away. Please?" she begged him and continued "No one's ever stuck with me for so long before. Do you know what it's like for me growing up? Going around in the big city without a friend to stay by my side? Even when I don't even remember a single thing?" Dory can feel her eyes tearing up, recalling what it had been like for her growing up as far as she knew. Recalling bits she can try to remember of her childhood going around and not once found a place to call home.

She sniffled a little "And if you leave...if you leave…I just, I remember things better with you. I do. Look!" Dory began to recite "P. Sherman...42...42! Ugh!" she groaned in frustration and slapped her forehead, she should know this. But now it was suddenly slipping away from her "I remember it, I do! It's there, I know it is because when I look at you, I can feel it! And, I look at you and… I'm home!" everything that she told him was true, from the bottom of her heart.

Dory looked up at the man, seeing he didn't budge "Marlin...Please..." she called him by his name, something that shocked Marlin a tiny bit.

"Please...I don't want them to go away...I don't want to forget." she said as she shed her tears rolling down her cheeks.

Marlin stood still not facing her, he couldn't help but have fresh tears forming in his eyes, he quickly dried them. "I'm sorry Dory...but I do..." he replied sadly and began to walk away once again. Just kept going and not looking back.

Dory watched Marlin walk away from her in the distance, her tears raining down her face. She gave out a sob and sank to her knees. Feeling her own heart broken as her only friend walked away from her.

Beginning to feel the way she did before she met Marlin, all alone.

Marlin had wandered himself in the poor district part of Sydney, seeing as he was in some sort of ghetto neighborhood. He didn't care where he was. All he cared about was returning home.

Some people had watched this man walking by, giving him some looks. But they could tell he must've been through something and just let him be.

"Nobody coming around for miles!" "What do you expect man, who'd want to come in this direction of Sydney?" two punks stood by the wall just chillin "Nowhere and nothing to eat but that slop in there!" one of the punks thumbed over to a run down diner "Eh, still the best we got" the other punk shrugged.

"Hey! Hey!" "This is our stop! Keep moving!" the two punks warned another punk walking pass them, ready to pick a fight if he came near them. But the punk waved them off getting the picture and was walking. They turned back to lean on their wall.

They looked over and saw Marlin walking by "Hey!" they both warned but the man just walked pass them with his head down and ignored them "That's right buddy, just keep going!" the punk shouted.

The punk looked over to the sound a of trunk, seeing it was the laundry trunk giving clothes to the thrift store. "Come on, let's see if there any threads!" "Yeah I'm dying for a new hoodie!" the two punks ran over to the thrift store.

Once inside they ran over and checked the hamper that wheeled in. Both digging through the clothes "Anything cool yet!" "Nope! Still looking-ah!" the punk jumped back surprised.

Nemo popped out of the hamper and taking a big breath, not even caring if old clothes was hanging off him. "Hey have any of you seen my dad?" he looked at the two punks. "Who do you think we are? Your teachers, babysitters! No!" "Get lost kid! Before we make ya!" the two punks were about to grab the young boy. But Nemo managed to get out of the hamper and ran out of the store quick in a flash.

The two punks chased after him, but the boy was too fast and was already out of their sight. "Great, nice work for letting him get away!" "Hey it was you that let him go!" the punks began to fight one another still blaming on eachother, not even caring about going after the kid anymore.

"Dad! Dad! Dad!" Nemo kept calling out. He listened hoping to hear any reply. He didn't care if he was in a poor district or that strange people were looking at him funny, he just had to find his dad.

"Oh...!" Nemo stopped in his tracks, as he heard a groan coming from somewhere. He heard the groan again and began to follow where the sound was coming from.

He turned a corner and found a strange woman with blue hair and wearing blue and yello clothes, she was going around in a circle near a street light. She was groaning and slapping her forehead for some reason. Nemo couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with the woman, and that she looked troubled.

What Nemo didn't know at the time, was that this blue haired woman was none other than Dory.

Nemo slowly approached the woman "Um...excuse me" he spoke up, trying to get her attention, but she completely ignored him. "Are you all right?" "No! I don't know where I am!" Dory stopped in her place "I don't know what's going on, I think I lost somebody but I can't remember!" she began to ramble on in tears, going back to pacing around in a circle. "It's okay. I'm looking for someone too." Nemo stopped the woman, calming her down.

Both stood in silence for a good second, waiting for the woman to calm herself before Nemo had an idea that would help both of them "We can look together." he told her. Dory sniffed and wiped a tear and before began their search.

"I'm Dory." "I'm Nemo." both introduced themselves, however Dory stopped.

"Nemo...?" she said, she somehow felt like she heard that name before...

"That's a nice name." she smiled and followed the boy.

Marlin continued to walk with his head down, he stopped and finally looked up to see where he was. He made it to a station building, where many were waiting for certain buses to take them somewhere, and people waiting at the stops.

He noticed there was some construction sight happening near the building, working/fixing on something. But he payed no mind to what was going on.

He wandered into the building, seeing there wasn't a big line waiting. He got up to the front "Do you know where a phone is?" he asked the lady at the reception "Right behind you Sweetie" she answered with a smile.

Marlin looked over his shoulder before turning back to give her a nod and small smile.

Marlin walked over to the payphone, checking his pockets to see if he had change. He found some and began to dial a certain number. He waited and waited for a moment before he heard a very familiar voice over the phone "Hello?" "Hey Dad..."

"Marlin! I'm so relived it's you!" his father, Albert Clowfisch spoke over the line "Heard a lot had happen to you in the pass couple of days! I can't believe you did all this!" Marlin couldn't help but smile at his dad's praise. "So...by judging from this call, have you found Nemo? Is he okay? He's not hurt or anything, can I talk to my grandson?" Albert spurted out questions.

Marlin however remained silent, he then got something out, it was Nemo's stuffed clownfish. He had forget that he still had this. Seeing this stuffed toy, Marlin began to let himself cry again.

"Marlin...what's wrong?" "Dad...I failed!" Marlin cried out "I was too late! I lost Nemo! I-I couldn't...I couldn't save him in time." Marlin leaned on the payphone, letting it all out, while over on the other side of the phone his father listened. "I made a promise I never let anything happened to him, and now I failed to protect him...what would Coral think of me now?" he continued as he tried to wipe his tears away.

Marlin stood, feeling more broken than ever. He had lost everything in his life. Coral, his two unborn babies, and now Nemo.

Albert sighed sadly hearing this "Marlin...life is never fair at times. I know it hasn't been an easy life for you. Ever since you were little and when you mother died, you try to make it through for both of us. Even if I was the one that lost my way..." Marlin began to listen to his father's lecture. "You had a special gift that your mother already figure out, you make people laugh and smile, you were her little clown after all" Albert chuckled bit.

"And when you got older and met Coral, she made you feel so special and happy that I have never seen you the happiest in all my life." Albert continued on smiling a bit at the memory, but he let out another sigh "But...ever since you lost her, you've...you've lost your way. You dedicated your life providing what was good for you and Nemo, that you've lost sight of your dream of being a Comedian" Marlin didn't say a word but still listened to his father continue.

"When you told me that you became a Marine Biologist like me and said it was best for you. At that moment I felt like...I lost my son! He was doing something that I somehow pushed him into, and he was giving up his dream" Marlin stood, feeling stunned hearing his father. "I know you're only doing this to help and protect Nemo, providing a good and stable future, but...you've been locked away in your shell that you were even locking Nemo away from seeing the world and experiencing life" Albert continued with his lecture, Marlin was surprised to hear all this from his father.

Albert continued as he smiled once again "And when I heard what happened and that you went on this incredible adventure, you were opening back up! You weren't just going out to find and save Nemo, you were also saving yourself! You were returning the Marlin I knew you were, and still are!" Marlin perked up from hearing this a bit surprised.

"Marlin...I know we both had are issues with eachother growing up. That we never see eye to eye, always at eachothers throats at times when things get heated up in arguements. But I want you to know...that no matter what, I'm still proud of my son. And I love him...and that kind of love never dies..." Albert spoke and smiled in the phone. "And that is the same love I've seen when you're with Nemo. Despite everything in the past, you're a good father...you always were because...that's what you wanted to be, a father. A father that loves his child no matter the lengths he goes through..." on the other side of the phone, Albert kept his smile on his face as a tear rolled down his cheek.

Marlin still holding the phone was silent, his smile grew a little from what he heard.

"Thanks Dad...thanks so much!" he shed a tear, and quickly wiped it away. "We'll talk more when you come home. Bye Son" "Bye Dad" and with that the phone ended. Marlin hung up the phone and released a sigh.

Marlin perked when he heard sniffling, he turned to see some strangers crying as they had overheard the phone conversation.

Marlin slowly walked back to the desk "How much is it for a one-way ticket to Ocean City?" he asked the lady "Roughly $24. You going there on a trip, or seeing a relative?" the lady asked as she handed him the ticket after he payed. "No...just going home" Marlin told her, taking the ticket.

With ticket in hand he gave a sad sigh, before seeing the stuffed clownfish still tightly in his other. And so he sadly walked over to one of the stops and wait for the bus.

"Dad!" Nemo called out.

"Dad!" Dory called out as well.

As they two kept calling, people were walking by giving them looks and walking away from them, not even gonna stop, ask or even help the two.

"Wait, is it my dad or your dad?" Dory stopped looking confused to who she was calling "My dad" Nemo told her "Got it! Dad!" Dory went back calling out. Nemo looked around the area "Where are we anyway?" he asked out loud and walked on up ahead.

"Dad! Da-!" Dory kept on calling until she noticed something. She looked up to see her reflection in the window. She noticed she looked a bit messy, like she just traveled a long way for some reason.

Her attention was then turned to the sign and logo on the window of a small shop building. She noticed some familiar word written in a funny language. "Weird, this is in Latin?" she squinted her eyes as she began to read. "Hmm, somehow I know these words mean 'Roman Latin Studies Center' but what's the last one?" she asked herself and began to read it and say it out loud "Syl...Shi...Sydney!"

She suddenly gasped as everything started to come back in a flash as certain words began to echo through her head...

"Ahh! NEMO!" Dory ran to the boy, scooping him by grabbing the boy's face. "It's you! You're back! You're Nemo!" Dory screamed for joy as she spun them boy around "Yes yes, I'm Nemo!" Nemo said as his face was being squished. He looked a bit confused to what was going on and why did this woman know him even though they had just met moments ago. And why she look so cheerful all of a sudden?

"Oh you're really Nemo!" Dory cried and brought the boy into her, hugging him before pushing him back a bit, still couldn't believe it. "But, you were dead! I saw you! And then I, here you are! I found you! You're not dead!" she said, while the boy looked a bit dizzy before Dory pulled him back into another hug.

"Oh and your father! Your father!" "My father!?" Nemo hearing her, he got out of Dory's arms. "You know my father!? Where is he!?" he looked up at Dory, seeing her turn and whipping her head around. Trying to remember where he was last seen. "This way! He went this way! Quick!" Dory pointed to a direction, grabbed the young boy's good hand and both ran in that direction.

Dory and Nemo ran until they spotted the same punks, leaning on their wall once again "Hey! Hey!" both of them warned, seeing them.

"Hey fellas, have you seen an older man in orange walk by here?" Dory frantically asked the two and points to Nemo "He looks a little like him" "But bigger and older?" Nemo asked, hoping the two have seen his dad.

One of the punks just scoffed "Yeah I seen that guy Bluey, but I'm not gonna tell you where he yet!" the punk frowned and poked Dory's shoulder. "And there's no way you're gonna make me, so be a dear, take that kid and scram!" he told her before turning around and holding his arms.

Dory stood in her place with her hands down her sides and in fists. She puffed her cheeks, glaring at the man with the color of anger appearing on her face. She may be a good and nice person, but now of all things isn't the time to be nice.

And this guy just messed with the wrong woman!

Moments later Dory, Nemo and the punk were up on the roof. Dory looked down and grinned to find what she was looking for.

"Oh boys!" she called out in a singing voice and gave a whistle. And held the punk over the ledge.

The punk made the mistake of looking down and saw the Crazy Dog Hobos and their dogs down below. The group of hobos and their dogs looked up and started their gibberish yelling and yap barking. Seeing as they had found fresh meat to meet and play with.

"Alright! Alright! I'll talk! I'll talk!" the punk began to scream and cry as Dory still held him over the edge "He went to Fishnet Station!" he cried out, and yelped as he felt himself back on the roof and dropped to the roof's ground. He looked up at the blue haired woman, as she glared down at him with her hands glue to her waist. The punk crawled a bit before getting up and ran away, beginning to reflect his mistake of messing with the wrong women.

"Fishnet Station?" Nemo asked looking at Dory "He's probably getting on a bus to head back home! We gotta get there, fast!" Dory told the boy. Nemo nodded to the woman and took her hand, both of them started to make a run for the station.

Nemo and Dory ran as fast as they could, they just hoped they will make it on time.

During which Nemo felt hope in his heart and smile. He will finally be reunited with his dad again!
