The Ancient Forest: Invitation to the Spirit World
"I'm sorry about this. Certain circumstances on our side caused us to request that you lose on purpose" Yeager apologizes to Franks in a poorly lit chamber. "And now, with us imposing on you, requesting that you fight again, like this…" He states. No, it's all right. The matter is unavoidable" Frank states. "I understand that dealing with any sort of situation is all a part of our jobs as assassins" He explains. Yeager chuckles. "Your Dueling style involves being cool and composed right down to the very wire" He states. "And there is a certain duelist that we would appreciate you saving using those abilities" Yeager tells Franks. Light peers in through a bared window, leaving most of Frank's face hidden in shadow. "Well, we shall see" Frank said.
The crowd watch Daisuke, who just won her Riding Duel against Kaira Ogima. "Wow she as amazing as Yusei!" Tenpei states. "Yeah! Yusei and Daisuke are both amazing duelists" Rua said. "Yep, a huge difference from a certain someone who lost in the first round" Ruka reminds him. Rua was shot down, but then realizes something. "What'cha talkin' 'bout? You're the one who lost, Ruka" He, acting innocent, says. "That one didn't count on my official record, so there!" Rua states. "Official record, my foot!" Ruka beats up Rua, with Chibimon holding on. "Everyone!" The MC calls out. "Yeah! We have an emergency on our hand!" He exclaims. "Event! Sponsor Godwin has just made a surprising proposition!" The MC announces. "Hey, all you losers who were regrettably defeated in the first round, are you listen to this!?" He wonders. "It's been determined that we will now be holding a consolation game!" The MC announces. Rua and the crowd got excited. "Alright! I can duel again!" Rua exited. "That's great, Rua!" Tenpei said. "I'll win this time!" Rua states. "Oh, boy. There you go, Rua, getting carried away again" Ruka said. Rua looks at Ruka with a discoed face. In the pit area, Daisuke was looking at her D-Wheel then at Godwin's tower, where Godwin was looking down. Daisuke then left. Rua got his deck and start to look it. "What should I do with my deck? I've just gotta reorganize it" He said, and then laughs. "Oh, Ruka? Lemme borrow your clothes again" Rua asked Ruka. "No, I don't wanna" Ruka refuses. "How come?" Rua asks. Then the lights went off "Yeah! Now we're about to announce the match-up for the consolation game!" The MC announces. "The match will be conducted only by the randomly drawn set of players!" He explains. "And the person fortune has chosen…was regrettably defeated by Contestant Bomber, but at a mere age of eleven, her skills have received Sponsor Godwin's seal of approval!" The MC announces. "She has promise that's simply soaring through the roof!" He states. "The Dueling Angel from the Heavens" The MC said as Rua gets ready to stands up. "Ms. Ruka!" He calls out, Rua stands up, without having made any change in outfit, but the spotlight drops on Ruka.
In a competitor's room, Daisuke had returned her helmet to a locker when she hears this. "Ruka…" Yusei whispers. "So she was chosen" Daisuke said. "That girl is the real Ruka, right? The imposter showed me some fine Dueling" Bomber notes. "So, I wonder how the genuine article will fare" He wonders, and walks off. "W-What should I do?" Ruka, getting uneasy, considers. "What should you do"? Well, you know, you are the one entered in this, Ruka" Himuro points out. "But I'm Ruka!" Rua disconcerted. "Even so, tellin' from this crowd, if Ruka doesn't show up, there'll be trouble" Yangai points out, and the twins looks forward. "Ruka! Ruka! Ruka!" The crowd chants. "No way. I don't wanna…" Ruka said. "I get really tired when I duel" She states. "Ah brother. Just when I got my chance to maybe fight Yusei. And to see it like this…." Rua sits back disappointed. "Fine. I'll try to win the Duel" Ruka reluctantly steps up. "Eh?" Rua said. "You can take my spot from there, Rua" Ruka tells him. "Y'mean it!? That's awesome! I'll be behind you all the way!" Rua exclaims. "Geez, good to see you happy" Ruke unenthused. "Here" She gives Chibimon to Rua and gathers her Duel Disk under her arms. "Ruka! Ruka! Ruka!" The crowd chants.
As Ruka leaves her companions "This is pretty excitin'! What kind of deck could Ruka have, anyway?" Yanagi asks Rua. "A Spirit Deck" Rua tells him. "Spirit?" Yanagi asks. "Mn-hmm, she told me she can hear the voices of Duel Monsters Spirits" Rua says. "And that she built her deck following what the voices told her. So, you get a "Spirit Deck." He states. "Well, that's…how's that again?" Himuro, slightly puzzled, asks. "She gets really tired once she hears the spirits' voices" Rua continues. "That's sort of why she doesn't like dueling all that much" He says. "Hear the voices of Duel Monster Spirits?" Chibimon wonders. "I better tell Daisuke about this later" He thought. Timidly Ruka makes her way down a flight of steps to the arena with the spotlight and the audience's attention following her.
"So? You're saying that child is a Signer?" Jack, having just learned Ruka is a Signer, asks Godwin. "Yes, during the first round, the reaction from the D-Senor most certainly came from her as she sat in the stand" Godwin confirms as a hologram of Ruka in her disguise. "This consolation game is but the setting to affirm the fact that she is a Signer" He explains. A click of his finger summons a holographic screen of Akutsu, who has his back to him. " Sp~inni~ng, sp~inni—"Akutsu sings before notices Godwin behind him. "Oh, yes, yes! All preparations are a-okay!" He states. "Look, if you'd be so kind!" Akutsu tells Godwin as he holds up the D-Senor. "If we get a reaction that exceeds this scale, then, you might as well…downright allot her with the title of Signer!" He explains as he twirls. A wave of Godwin's hand dismisses the projection. He then pulls another holographic screen of Ruka. "We have expressed interest in her to begin with, and we invited her to this tournament upon learning of an incident that happened eight years ago" Godwin tells Jack as he touches some buttons on the screen. A swish of his hand pushes the screen over to Jack "Eight years ago?" Jack question. And then a number more screens of Ruka eight years ago to crop up around it. "She was a child prodigy, already versed in Dueling at the age of three" Godwin tells Jack. "But, one day, she abruptly fell into a coma while dueling and hadn't regain consciousness for a whole month, as we've heard" He informs Jack. "However, her twin brother, Rua, in the meanwhile, was constantly by her side, calling out his sister's name, and, sure it be, after a month, she miraculously recovered" Godwin said as he points his finger in front of him calls up another projection of Rua in the audience. "How does this share any relevance to Signers?" Jack asks. "What drew in our interest was what she said as she recovered" Yeager interrupts. "She said something about having gone to the world of the Duel Monsters Spirit for that month" He tells Jack. "World of Duel Monsters Spirits?" Jack wonders. "The first origins of Duel Monsters are wrapped in mystery and there exist many legends behind them" Yeager explains. "Some are heavily comprised with items coinciding with the aspects of the Spirit World she spoke of after her recovery" He states as he works the magic with the projections as he brings up one of the Nazca Lines. "Including the legends remnant in the People of the Star" Yeager adds. Jack looks at Godwin, who nods. "It has been eight years since then" Godwin continues. "And our investigation shows that neither of them have any recollection of that incident" He explains. "In which case, I believe taking her back to that time is in order" Godwin states. "Back to the world of Duel Monsters Spirits" He says. Godwin then touches the screen and it changes to Ruka now on the Duel arena. "In doing so, we might realize that girl's true power" Godwin says as he reaches out to the screen.
Smoke rose up from the arena "Now in the field it the Young Dueling Prodigy, Ruka!" The MC calls out. Ruka placed her Duel Disk on her arm "It's true! This Duel Disk is way more easier to use" She thought. "Yusei!" Ruka thinks. Both Yusei and Daisuke were watching thought the screen. "And now, facing against Ruka, the Young Dueling Prodigy, will be…" The MC announces. Then a card turns around to reveal Ruka's opponent. "There he is! Also known as the Duel Counselor-Professor Frank!" The MC introduced. Frank walks out "Pleased to meet your acquaintance, Ruka" Frank says as he bows to Ruka. "S-Same" Ruka, uneasily, replies. "Now, what do you say to finding the real "you" hidden off in the inner depths of your consciousness?" Frank asks. "Somehow…" Ruka thinks. Then Ruka hears another voice, make a squeaking whisper. "Yeah. You have the same uneasy feeling too?" She responds to it mentally. "Now, we're about to get started!" The MC announces. Both Ruka and Frank activated their Duel Disk. "Consolation game, start!" The MC declares. "Duel!" Both Duelists declares.
"I should end this game as soon as possible" Ruka thought. "It's my turn. Draw" She says. "I'll Summon Sunny Pixie in Defense Mode" Ruka said (DEF: 400). "Ooh! It really is a spirit!" Yanagi excited. "You can do it, Ruka!" Rua cheers. "I'll end my turn" Ruka states. Frank nods "It's my turn. Draw" He said. "I will Summon Symmetry Rorschach" Frank states. As the monster appeared Ruka was startled (ATK 1200). "What kind of monster is that?" Ruka wonders. "Are you familiar with what's known as the Rorschach Test?" Frank asks Ruka. "This will be a psychological test to help acquire clues that will dispel any insecurities, worries, or doubts you have based on how you feel about the ambiguously-profiled monster" He explains. "Come now, Ruka. What does this monster look to you?" Frank asks. "What is with this man?" Ruka wonders. "Come now, answer. What is it?" Frank asks. "What"?" Ruka confuses. "Come now…" Frank said. "Come now. Come now, what is it?" He asks. In the stands "I say it's a Crystal Skull!" Yanagi said. "It's a butterfly!" Tenpei said. "It feels like Ruka's opponent had something against her" Rua worried. Back in the arena "Come now. Come now" Frank coerce her. Ruka then got worried. "Come now" Frank continues to coerce her. "What does it look like?" He asks. "What"?" Ruka confuses. Then Symmetry Rorschach changes into a familiar shape "A Spirit?" Ruka, reluctantly, says as the monster then takes on the form of her monster. The monster then grows a demonic head, which surprised Ruka. "Spiral Mind!" Frank declares and the monster attacks Ruka's Sunny Pixie. "No!" Ruka yells as her monster is destroyed by it. "This test has revealed that, in the recesses of you consciousness, you are afraid" Frank, remaining calm, says. "You are afraid of spirits and fairies, am I correct?" He asks. "No, that's not-" Ruka attempts to begin to explain. "All is fine. I shall clear any worries you have and set them free" Frank, who cuts her off, says. "To do so, you shall courageously venture to the whole other world within the inner depths of your consciousness, the world of Duel Monsters Spirits" He tells her. "World of Duel Monsters Spirit?" Ruka confuses. "Why I know, you are able to perceive the language of spirits" Frank, aware that she can talk to spirits, states. "Therefore, there being a world of Duel Monsters Spirits isn't very strange at all" He deduces. "How could such a world exist?" Ruka wonders.
"Symmetry Rorschach's effect activates" Frank said. "When it destroys an opponent's monster, it can flip the top card of my opponent's deck face-up" He explains and Symmetry Rorschach expands. "Peeping Mind!" Frank declares, and en eye appeared on Symmetry Rorschach, surprising Ruka. Ruka, who was frighten, flips over her top card. "Kuribon" Ruka slightly relieved to see Kuribon. "Such a cute Spirit card is it" Frank calmly states. "Would you happen to hear its voice as well?" He asks her. "It's true that I can hear the voices of spirits, but…" Ruka begins to get more uneasy. "Rua!" She thought as she turns to face Rua in the crowd, right before a flashback of her past.

"Ruka! Ruka! Ruka! Ruka!" Rua calls out her name, and their parents over her.
(Flashback ends)
"What was that just now?" Ruka unsure what just happened or if she had imagined it. Rua begins to feel Ruka's fear. Tenpei notices this "Something wrong, Rua?" He asks. "For some reason…I'm really afraid…" Rua said.
I place two cards face-down to end my turn" Franks states, and Ruka turns back to face him. "It would be your turn" Frank tells Ruka, snapping her out of it. "Draw" Ruka says. "Kuribon, come" She said (ATK: 300). "Now I open my reverse card, Light to the Depths" Frank said. "The opposing player sends five cards from the top of their deck to the Cemetery and add the sixth card into their hand after both players check it" He explain. "If they do not play the card during this turn, the opposing player will receive 2000 points of damage" Frank states as he hypnotizes Ruka. "Come now and turn over the cards from the top of your deck, if you please" He tells Ruka. "Do it slowly" Frank orders her. "One" He said, and Ruka, in a trance, take the first card from her deck. "Two" Frank said, and the trance Ruka takes the second card. "Three" Frank said, And trances Ruka takes the third card. "Four" "Frank said and trances Ruka takes the fourth card. "Five" Frank said and trances Ruka takes the fifth card. "Come, come, come. What is your sixth card" Frank wonders. Trances Ruka draws her sixth card, and showed it. "Ah, that's the Field Spell, Ancient Forest" Frank said. The Trance Ruka then activates it. "All monsters switch to Attack Mode" Frank states. "One can neither summon anything in Defense Mode nor switch anything to defense mode" He adds. "And, monsters that attack are destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase" Frank continues. Frank then chuckles "A world which puts all out into the open…and simply does not tolerate conflict" He interpets. "Now, to the world of Duel Monsters Spirits!" Frank declares.
Ruka awakens in the World of Duel Monster Spirits. "Where am I?" Ruka wonders. Small fairies were flying around. One went up to Ruka and pats her on the cheek. Ruka giggles. Then she hears a familiar voice and sees Kuribon in front of her. "Kuribon" Ruka pleased to see it, and start to walk to it, but the stops "Then couldn't be…the word of Duel Monsters Spirits that man was talking about, could it?" Ruka realizes. Kuribon was happily twirling around. "This place is so nice and calm, but I feel a little scared…" Ruka thought. Back in reality, Ruka remains in a trance. "It would appear that you have reached the Spirits' World locked within the inner depths of your consciousness" Frank observes. He then chuckles. "Draw" Frank said. "I activate the Continuous Trap, Gestalt Trap" He says. "This card will become an Equip card on an opponent's monster" Frank explains and it equips itself on Kuribon "I equip the card to Kuribon" Frank states (Kuribon's ATK: 0). "The equipped monster has its Monster Effect negated, and both its attack and defense power reduced to zero" He explains. In the Spirit world Kuribon squeals in pain and Ruka looks at it, then the shackle from the Trap appears and wraps itself around Kuribon. Ruka gasps in shock. "What's wrong, Kuribon!?" She worries. "Next, I equip the Equip Spell, Immortal Homeostasis, to Kuribon from my hand" Frank states. "The equipped monster cannot be destroyed by battle" He explains. "During your own Standby Phase, if the equipped monster's attack power differs from its original attack power, its owner receives 300 points of damage" Frank adds. "In summary, as long as Kuribon's attack is zero, you shall tale damage each and every turn" He points out. "Then, I Release Symmetry Rorschach…to Advance Summon Ido the Supreme Magical Force" Frank states (ATK: 2200). In the Spirit world, Ruka gasps. Kuribon the squeals in more pain. "Kuribon!" Ruka attempts to attend to Kuribon, but is then confronted by Frank's monster. "No!" Ruka cries out.
In reality, "During the End Phase in which Ido is destroyed, it's Special Summoned to my side of the field" Frank explains. "Also, as long as Ido is on the field…I cannot summon any monsters" He adds. Ruka remains motionless. "What are you doing!?" A man yells. "You're gonna lose again!" Another man yells. "What is wrong with Ruka!? She's had complete lapse in concentration!" The MC exclaims. Godwin smiles. Tenpei notices Rua was experiencing the same loss in concentration. "Hey…" Tenpei pokes Rua. "Rua?" He concerned.
"I attack Kuribon with Ido the Supreme Magical Force! Violent Egoism!" Frank declares. Ido attacks the frightened Kuribon. Kuribon takes Ido the Supreme Magical Force's, blow but survives due to the effect of Immortal Homeostasis. Kuribon the starts to glow. "No!" Ruka yells as a blinding light appeared. (Ruka's LP: 1800). "Due to the equipped of Immortal Homeostasis, Kuribon will not be destroyed" Frank states. "However, it shall experience eternal pain in a world of its own immortality" He says. "Come now" Frank said. "Try to remember. Your true mission, from the midst of pain, from the midst of fear" He tells Ruka. "Come now" He said. "Come now. Come now, come" Frank coerce Ruka. In the Spirit World "Come…" Frank's voice whispers in the wind. Ruka then looks around. "That's right!" She realizes. "Conflict isn't tolerated in this forest!" Ruka remembers. The Forest moves some branches and sunlight shines on Ido. Ruka watches Ido get destroyed. Her smile of relief is cut short as it revives itself. "I-It can't be…!" Ruka shocked.
In reality "Ido will be Speical Summoned during the End Phase of the turn in which it was destroyed" Frank states. He then chuckles. "I end my turn" Frank said. "Come now, it's your turn" He tells Ruka. "Draw" The tranced Ruka said. "During the current Standby Phase, Immortal Homeostasis' effect will force 300 points of damage onto you" Frank said. In the Spirit World "No!" Ruka yells as a purple light shines from the ground. In reality (Ruka's LP: 1500) "I summon Sunlight Unicorn" The tranced Ruka states (ATK: 1800). "I equip Horn of the Unicorn onto Sunlight Unicorn" She said (Sunlight Unicorn's ATK: 2500). "It's attack power is greater that Ido's own" Frank notes. Both Ruka and Rua were still in a tranced. "Something up…" Chibimon notices. Yusei and Daisuke were watching the match in the competitor's room.
In the Spirit World, Ido hovers over Ruka and Kuribon, and then the unicorn appears ready to assist Ruka "Sunlight Unicorn!" Ruka exclaims. "Ruka…Ruka…" A voice than begins calling her name. "Who's that? Who's there?" Ruka looks around. "Ruka, you did come to honor your promise" The voice said. "Promise?" Ruka confuses. "You said that you would protect the world of Duel Monsters Spirits from the evil ones" The voice tells her. "Who are you? Who?" Ruka asks the voice.
