Birkdale Castle
Granger was getting ready to go outside when his dad walked by and wanted to talk.
They walked down the big hallway.
'I see you've been seeing the Trentford princess these last 5 months.' He remarked.
'Yes. Hetty is very nice, and I love being her friend.' Granger replied.
'Hetty? Thought her name was Henrietta.'
'It's what she likes to be called. Plus, I think it's very cute.'
'You seem to be kind of attached to her, as your bodyguard seems to indicate.' Granger Sr said.
'Dad, she's my friend, not my girlfriend.'
'But she could be your girlfriend.'
'Dad. Now you're acting like the press!' Owen replied, teasing.
'Maybe because they might have a point this time?'
'Dad, all they do is gossip and over hype. You know that.'
'I know, I was just teasing you. Lighten up!' Sr replied.
Then they came at a portrait of the king and queen.
'I think about her a lot, old boy. Hope one day you find yourself a good match.' Sr said.
'You mean a politically good match that everyone will approve of.' Owen cynically replied.
'I never said that.'
'You were probably think it. I know what you told that reporter when I was up at the mountain resort.'
'I only said that so she would leave me alone! I fully support your 'wanting to marry for love' quest.' Sr insisted.
'Do you? Because you seemed pretty disappointed a few months ago when I told that rich princess Chloe to take a hike.'
'Only because I liked her cooking. Look, what happened between your mom and I was unfortunate, but it doesn't mean I want you to be alone forever.' Sr replied.
'If I have to, I will. I refuse to end up in a marriage where I either eventually fall out of love with my wife, or it turns out we never loved each other at all. Please respect that and stop lying to reporters!'
'What am I supposed to do? I have a reputation to keep, and my son refusing to marry for politics is kind of a sore topic among friends because of how rare it is.'
'I don't care. I'll marry for love, or not at all. I'll rule this kingdom by myself if I have to. Even if I end up with a tomboy princess from Trentford!' Owen defiently replied.
Then he walked off.
'He is so in love with that woman.' Sr thought.
