Chapter 1

Percy

I looked around my bedroom one last time, checking to see if I brought all my stuff. There weren't a lot, but some of them were very important to me, for example, my camp bead and the photos. I will definitely miss the noisy city of Big Apple, but I need a change of environment, have new memories.

You see, last month, Paul received an invitation for him to teach in Mystic Falls, which is a village in Virginia, and being the kind-hearted man he is, he accepted. I was very happy for him, and I thought being away from the gods would be good for my little sis Estelle. I absolutely adore her, and I do not want her to experience what I experienced.

They were planning to move there and I was absolutely giddy about going. Of course, I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to go with us and she accepted right away! I was so relieved. I informed the gods about my decision as well. They weren't happy, but they thought I deserve a break after all I've gone through.

"Seaweed Brain! We're gonna miss the plane!" Annabeth stormed in. When she saw me, her eyes softened, "Oh, I see." She smiled a small smile and looked around as well, "I'll miss it here too."

I smirked and teased, "Yes, with all the time you are here. One would think this is your home instead."

"Hey! Sally sort of adopted all of us! They are downstairs waiting by the way." She smacked me on my head.

Did I mention two of my cousins were coming as well? Who, you ask? Why, it's dear Corpse Breath and Pinecone Face themselves: Nico DiAngelo and Thalia Grace. I swear, they take all the cookies.

I grumbled, "They just don't want to part with mum's blue cookies."

"Well… They are very good after all." Annabeth said sheepishly.

I looked at her in mock hurt, "Cookie horder! You only like me to get cookies!"

She rolled her eyes and muttered, "Seaweed Brain." She started to go out of my room, "Just hurry up, or were gonna miss the plane." She called over her shoulder.

"Just give me a sec." I replied half-heartily. I walked around my now bare bedroom, feeling the floorboards. Thunk. Aha, there it is. I reached down and pulled opened the loose floorboard, underneath was a photo album. I was definitely not gonna leave it here for other people to find.

I took it out carefully and put the loose floorboard back in place. "Alright! I'm coming!" I called to them loudly. I turned my back to the room, and closed the door behind me with a snap, marking the end of my life in New York.

Even though Zeus swore in the the River Styx that he will not ever blast sons of Poseidon and Hades out of the sky, I was still nervous about going into the plane.

"What if—" I bit my lips nervously.

"He won't." Thalia said confidently.

"But what if—" I tried again.

"Seaweed Brain! He swore on the River Styx! And Thalia is with us, he would not blast his own daughter out of the sky." Annabeth smacked my head.

I stopped saying it aloud, but inside I was hyperventilating. I could tell Nico was too.

All the way from New York to Virginia, never once had me and Nico unclench our hands from the seats. About half-way, Thalia made the mistake of looking out and saw how high up we were, she started hyperventilating as well.

"AHHHHHHH! GET ME OUT OF HERE! SO HIGH!" She yelled.

Other people were looking at us as if we were crazy already. Annabeth tried unsuccessfully to calm her down.

"We're alright, we won't fa—"

"BUT WHAT IF WE DO? WE'RE GONNA FAAAAAALLLLLLL!"

"Your dad won't blast yo—"

"ITS SO HIGH UP!"

"Just keep quiet! You are disturbing other passengers!"

At least Thalia had the decency to look sheepish.

"Sorry, but my friends here are scared of heights." Annabeth apologized to the annoyed passengers.

"Yes, telling everyone in the world that were scared of heights." Thalia grumbled.

"Well, at least they have an explanation for your actions." Annabeth shot back.

"Hmph." She started to clench her hands on her seat as well and closed her eyes.

Where were me and Nico and whole scene? We were sitting next to them, clenching the seats as tight as we could, closed my eyes and kept praying to The Lord of the Sky not to blast us out. We looked like we were close to a panic attack.

The moment the plane touched the ground and the latch opened, Nico, Thalia and I rushed out of the plane immediately.

I kissed the ground exclaiming, "Even though I still hate you, Earth, I sure am relieved that when we defeat you, the earth is still here."

"Never— never again." Thalia choked. "That was scary."

"At least there weren't any monster on the plane." Nico said, trying to look at the bright side of things.

"DON'T!" Me and Thalia exclaimed.

"Damn it, you just jinx it." Annabeth grumbled. She just came out of the plane, carrying all our bags and heard his sentence. "Next time, do not go out of the plane without getting your bagpacks!" And threw the bags at us. Thankfully, we caught them.

We waited for Mum, Paul and Estelle to come down.

"Welcome to Virginia." Paul boomed and opened his arms, trying to be dramatic.

We all snickered. "That was not dramatic as Drama Queen high above." Nico commented drily.

Paul pouted, at that moment, Mum came down hugging Estelle and saw Paul pouting, "Oh my goodness, did you just pout?" She exclaimed. Estelle giggled and garbled, "Perwy! Perwy!"

"C'mon, let's go." Annabeth said.

After we got out the airport, we hailed two cabs to Mystic Falls. I was sitted in a cab with Nico, Thalia and Annabeth. It's a small and peaceful looking town, but I had a bad feeling about it. I've had too many situations like this to know trust my instincts and feelings.

"Hey guys," I whispered, since we all had sort of enhanced ears, "I have a bad feeling about this town, be on guard, and please don't tell Mum or Paul."

"You sure?" Annabeth murmured.

"It's for the best." I replied.

"Aye aye, cap." Nico and Thalia smirked.

I groaned, "Stop it! I'm not a captain!"

"You are the leader of two wars, I think you deserve it." Annabeth pointed out.

"Not you too!"

She just smirked and went back to looking out of the window.

After five minutes, we finally arrived at our new house. It was a two stories tall house, with light blue wallpapers (my favourite). There's even a little garden! "Wow, it's beautiful." I whispered in awe.

"Look at the architecture…" Annabeth started mumbling on it's style and building.

I thanked the cab driver and went out, but a blast of air stopped me short. The air around me was full of the feeling of monster, ghost and, "Magic." I whispered.

"What?" Thalia demanded. She started to get out but stopped as well. "Woah."

Nico came out and sighed, "Well, the Fates sure hate us."
