Hunting

Estelle slashed at the bushes as she continued walking through the woods. She was not having a good time. It had been a few days since she had sugar time with the class, and Estelle had spent most of her time dealing with the dark spirits roaming around Japan. It was a relief to realise that the number of them had not increased any further. But it was still a pain in her ass.

Thankfully, the support gear she had requested was given to her yesterday, allowing Estelle to deal with them quicker. Her abilities were good, but when she was up against spirits resistant to fire or had armour of steal with some dumbass weak point like the back of the knee. Estelle really needed her katana.

Walking through a few more trees, Estelle located another stalker. They were creatures that moved on four legs with a face full of teeth that opened up like a flower.

"Why do they never look pretty?" Estelle muttered out as she raced across the grass to attack. The Stalker immediately roared when Estelle reached its vicinity. Jumping over the crouching beast, Estelle made a swift turn in the air and stabbed at the back of the creature's neck. The spirit beast roared in pain and snapped its face towards Estelle as she jumped out of the way. It managed to land a few scratches on her arm from the plethora of teeth on its face.

Estelle grumbled in irritation as she ducked from an attack by the four-legged spirit. Using the fact it was in the air to her advantage, Estelle slid under the monster and used her katana to slice the underbelly. Her position prompted the Stalker's guts to spill onto her, causing her to groan in disgust.

Estelle laid there on the grass as the beast and its guts disintegrated away into the atmosphere. Estelle remained in place, tiredly gazing at the sky above her. She had thought when the war was over, she would never have had to face these creatures again. She had desperately hoped she wouldn't have. They were mindless creatures, lost in their own rage and never held any conscious thought. She had learnt that the hard way.

A very young Estelle gazed down at a werewolf from a distance. She had never understood why she needed to stay away from the woods. The scary stories the men would tell her had to be exaggerated; there was no way these creatures could be as evil as they say. Shuffling forward, the wolfman type creature sniffed the air quietly.

She moved forth ever so gently, her steps causing the sounds of leaves crushing under her feet. When she was at a more intimate distance, Estelle's eyes widened at the grotesque mutilation of the beast. It was as if a man and a wolf had tried to become one but had ultimately failed. The creature stood on two legs that looked human, but the top was all wolf; its continuous snarls were loud and deadly to her ears.

Realising that there may be truth in words given to her, Estelle moved back to leave. The branch underneath her foot snapped at the pressure. The werewolf ear twitched as it immediately shifted to the sound and howled to the moon.

It knew she was here.

Estelle quickly darted off through the trees as fast as her little feet could with a whimper. She couldn't fight that yet. Estelle barely had fire bending under her control. Weaving through the trees, Estelle's tiny heart accelerated when she couldn't remember her way back.

She was going to die.

The fright of being lost allowed the beast to catch up to her. With a snarl, the werewolf slowly crawled up to Estelle. Estelle's blood had run cold at the predicament she was in.

"You aren't as bad as they say, right? You wouldn't hurt me?" Estelle tried to reassure in lost hope.

The only response the spirit gave was another wail generating Estelle to take a few steps back. The creature kept propelling onward and eventually had come face to face with the child. Estelle couldn't waver her gaze from his rows of teeth perfectly capable of ripping out her throat.

The beast attacked

Estelle screamed.

Estelle gazed at her side before lifting up her shirt from the memories ravaging around her brain. Staring down at the claw marks at her side. Estelle could still feel the pain of her idiocy. Closing her eyes from the sharp throbbing in her head, Estelle was thrown back into that night.

"What did you think you were doing?! You useless child. What would have happened if I had not come to save you?" A man's voice growled out in rage as Estelle lay on the grass surrounded by her own blood.

"Dark spirits are dark for a reason! Get up. Get up! Now!"

Forcing herself to stand. The young Estelle whimpered out in pain as she tried to hold in her tears.

Crying is for the weak; she cannot cry.

Estelle let out another moan of pain as her head snapped to the side. Forcing herself to stay conscious, the red mark on her cheek was nothing compared to the wound on her side.

"Come, we will tra-"

Estelle grunted at the sting on her cheek before shaking her mind clear. Pushing back those memories, Estelle never wanted to think of them again. She wondered if her mind would finally stop when she went back home. This had only started happening when she arrived in this world.

Estelle chose to finish the day early and have a warm meal. She was still missing Nona and the warmth she brought. Estelle walked through the entrance of the dorms to find a tired Class 1A. They had been training most of the day to create their ultimate moves. Unexpectedly, Ashido bounced into Estelle's view and grabbed hold of her arm before dragging her to the dinner table without a word. Estelle raised a brow in question, and Ashido answered.

"You've finally arrived in time for dinner; get sitting!" Ashido yelled out as she forcibly got Estelle to sit in the chair. Estelle compiled without a word.

Shoto made his way to Estelle with two bowls. Holding one out for her, Estelle took the bowl like she was unsure it was actually meant for her. Shoto gave a small smile of reassurance before taking a seat alongside her. He noted the red on her cheek but didn't comment. Placing his own meal on the table, Shoto lifted the plastic wrap that lay on top as he said, "I prepared some soba for us. I was going to wrap yours up for when you got back, but you made it in time. Eat up."

Estelle was taken aback by his actions. He prepared soba and wrapped it just for her? Estelle shook her head with a chuckle before answering back, "You really didn't have to, Shoto."

"No, but I wanted to", Shoto quickly replied whilst taking out some chopsticks for the both of them.

"Thanks anyway; I appreciate it."

Before Shoto could reply, Ashido, who sat across from them, jumped out of her seat. "You made her soba? How romantic!"

Shoto stared at the pink girl in confusion. "We are just soba buddies."

Estelle lamented, holding her chopsticks with a slump "Shoto, I never agreed to that, you know?"

"I know, but we are soba buddies."

Giving up, Estelle didn't answer and continued to dig into her warm meal. She missed warm food.

"I was wondering..." Shoto started

Estelle prepared for the blow within his question and nodded for him to continue.

"Can you tell us a little bit about your world? It doesn't have to be much."

Taking the hit directly, Estelle sighed and nodded again. She could see her classmates sit up in interest after her agreement.

'They planned this.' Estelle scoffed in her own head. She couldn't fault them; she would have been curious too.

"My world is divided by beings of power and humans. The world split into two; one side always destined to hate the other."

"How did you and the other guy get here?" Kirishima piped up from his seat in question.

"We are the oddities. We are the product of both sides. People like to refer to us as Cambion."

"Are there many of you?" Tokoyami jumped incuriously.

"No."

Unsure of the implications, Shoto and the class remained quiet in thought. Estelle continued to eat her food comfortably in peace.

"Have you gotten any closer to finding the bridge?" Shoto asked once the silence permeated around the room long enough.

"Nope, it'll take a while."

"What will you do when you find it?"

"I'll close it."

"But, would you stay here?"

Estelle didn't answer and was thankfully interrupted by another. She felt strange about discussing the topic. She almost felt reluctant to tell them, and she wasn't sure why.

"Estelle! Your arm!" Sero shouted in surprise as he stood up from his chair. Estelle glanced at him in puzzlement before following his gaze onto her limb. Her arm was slightly bloody from the Stalker's teeth that had scratched her earlier. Lifting the fabric up to her shoulder, Estelle examined the wound on her arm. It wasn't awful, but it was still bleeding slightly. She had never registered that she was harmed since her pain tolerance was uniquely high.

"Oh, forgive me. I didn't notice."

'How could you not notice?'

"We should take you to recovery girl," Yaoyorozu stated whilst leaning over the table to get a better look. Estelle shook her head in response.

"Oh no, it's nothing serious. I'll handle it."

"Huh! You're bleeding through!" Mineta yowled from the corner.

Estelle ignored his remark and scanned the table for the usual water jug. Estelle flicked her hand to direct the water out of the jar when her eyes landed on the prize. She then made a 'come here' motion with her fingers making the water shoot forward and encircle her hand. The class watched the scene with intrigue as Estelle moved her hand covered in a bubble of water onto the injury. Holding it there for a moment, the water glowed green.

The class watched avidly as the blood receded around her arm and the wound gently closed up. The liquid moved back into the air and evaporated when she was done. Estelle held her hand towards the kitchen without a beat whilst the other put spoonfuls of food into her mouth. The class sat in bewilderment at her action until another bubble of h2O floated into the room. Pointing to the cup, the liquid plopped into the jug as if it was never empty.

They never realised she had that much control. Yes, she was powerful. But to move water from a different room whilst eating was something else entirely. Izuku was fascinated by it.

"I knew you mastered your power, but that was so cool! How did you make the water disappear!?"

Estelle's heart clenched at the male's reaction. The young love of seeing abilities in action never wavered in Izuku Midoriya. She could tell he would be a dork for quirks forever. It was the same passion she used to see in another. Estelle gazed at him with a strange softness whilst she replied with a hint of bashfulness, "I increased the temperature. When water is hot enough..."

"It evaporates!" Izuky cut in with the answer, stars in his eyes as his fingers twitched for his quirk journal. "Your quirk has so much versatility; it's amazing!"

"It isn't a quirk, but yes. Thank you."

"Oh yeah! Does everyone in your world have abilities?"

"No. Cambions are the only ones. We get those abilities from our spiritual side. It's usually one aspect of time, weather or element and stems from the beings we originate from. The humans in our world are powerless."

"How do you have four then?" Midoriya questioned back, fascinated. The class watched the verbal back and forward with interest. Unknowingly, he was asking questions many of them had wondered themselves.

"I was the unlucky one."

"How?! I would love to do what you do!" Ochako chimed in.

"When you are an oddity in your world. What do you expect would happen?" Estelle asked rhetorically to get them thinking.

The class stayed quiet since they were fully aware of the discrimination against quirkless people. It was a shock to think that someone so strong would face that same problem back home. Izuku's heart clenched at the realisation. Even though the two were so drastically different, there was a similarity there that he couldn't ignore. He wondered if she ever wished that she never had powers, just like he desperately hoped that he did.

His memories drifted back to the training camp.

"Kota liked you because you said you weren't a hero?"

But she was called a saviour. It made no sense to Izuku. He thought about those words frequently, but he could never wrap his mind around them. She had told the class when she came back to UA that she was just a girl trying to survive. But Izuku believes that there was so much more to the story. He was desperate to find out, so he could convince her that she was wrong. She just had to be inaccurate; he couldn't believe it otherwise. Estelle may be cold, but she wasn't a bad person.

Estelle wished she never had to tell the class anything. She hoped they could remain blissfully ignorant but now that they knew she wasn't from here. She was bound to have to answer some questions. Estelle decided on being as vague as possible. The more she tells them, the more attached they get, and Estelle doesn't need that. She doesn't need companionship when she would eventually leave them to continue with their lives.

She just needed to remind herself of that.

Thankfully the topic was changed. Estelle had reached the end of her social metre, so the change was welcomed.

"Training was tough today; I'm really having some trouble figuring out a second ultimate move", Sero moaned as he took another bite from his plate.

Estelle continued to listen to their conversation whilst they ate their meals and noted the struggling students in her class. When they had completed their quirk tests at the beginning of the year, Estelle's mind immediately went to the potential they could have with their quirks due to the training she had provided in the past. She had some ideas.

"You're so lucky, Estelle! You don't have to learn any!"

"That's because I did all my training earlier than you guys. I still had to put in the time. Regardless, if you don't have two ultimate moves before the exam. Let me know when I stop by."

"Really? You would help?" Sato asked in wonderment. He was another who was struggling with figuring out a second move.

Estelle shrugged. "Why not? I'll probably have some time."

"Awesome! Thank You!" Sero piped up.

Hey guys! I realised I posted the incorrect version up. It's not too much different but there were a few key things about Estelle that were no longer correct.

I would really appreciate your thoughts x
