Visit With The League
Estelle accepted the civilian's gratitude with a small smile whilst the police cuffed the robbers. She was working another hero shift today, and it was filled with crime. Honestly, it was a little refreshing for Estelle because there weren't as many guts involved.
Assuring the civilians that everything was okay, Estelle set back into the sky to patrol the cities. The people would stare at the sky whenever she passed, pointing fingers in awe or anger as she sped by. The world was still conflicted on the Cambion. She knew it would take time to convince those that she was here to help; she didn't realise it would take this long.
Whenever she landed in an area, it was soon surrounded by journalists, protesters and those wishing to encourage her. It was too much for Estelle; it was too crowded. Estelle missed having her bubble; she liked her bubbles.
Nevertheless, she pushed on like she always did. Providing support when possible or just taking down the bad guys before the police even arrived. Why would she wait if a life was in danger? Apparently, that's what she was supposed to do if she wasn't in a hero agency.
Skimming down towards the street, Estelle came to an abrupt stop when she noticed an older woman attempting to cross the road. Racing down towards her as the car came closer, Estelle managed to dive and seize her. The female forced her feet to a stop as they skidded across the concrete.
Ignoring the crack she had made on the ground, Estelle checked over the woman to make sure she was okay. Sighing in relief, Estelle moved to reprimand the woman but was cut off as the sound of sludge rang out behind her.
Estelle's eyes widened at the circle of black goo covering her view when she turned around. Moving to dive out of the way, Estelle's shoulder was caught by a hand. Too surprised by the current events, Estelle's last view was the face of the frozen older woman with her hand raised. Her view turned black after that.
A few moments later, Estelle felt the sensation of being yanked. Nauseous as she looked around her, Estelle was internally furious at where she was.
It was the League of Villains.
And it seemed like everyone else got the invite but her.
Aggravation trickled her tone as she muttered, "you couldn't have just called?"
"Awh, it's so much more fun this way, princess. The name's Dabi," the man covered in burns remarked, a cheeky grin on his face.
Grunting in acknowledgement, Estelle turned to face the leading man, Shigiraki. He looked as childish as he always did at first glance. But, the more her eyes scanned over his frame, Estelle could tell he was getting stronger.
'That's not good.'
Frowning, Estelle wondered if the heroes were taking too long to do their damn job. They were just letting him become a figure that would bite them in the ass later. Did they underestimate him? Estelle figured that they did. When she had met him previously, his mind was still stuck in the teenager phase.
Realising the silence was lingering for too long, Estelle flickered her gaze back to a bare Shigiraki, his hand placed on the table by his side. "You are a hard one to catch", he murmured, his fingers swirling around on top of the glass on the counter.
Shrugging, Estelle muttered, "Really? That's funny since I don't recall myself evading anything."
Hearing the charred boy chuckle at her side caused her to look back up at the male. There was something familiar about him that she could not pinpoint, but again, Estelle could not find it within herself to care much.
"So, what do you want?" She questioned, already feeling the burn of indignation at the pit of her stomach.
"I think you know, princess."
Estelle let out a discontented sigh to the ground before looking back up to the villains scattered around the room. "I already gave you my answer."
"I know, but I'd like you to reconsider."
"I decline. Like I already stated, I have no interest in the hero/villain business."
"How ironic for you to say that when your playing hero," Shigiraki snarled with a disgusted expression on his face.
Soughing again in vexation, Estelle held the tip of her forehead as she shook her head. Seriously? Why was this headache coming now?
"I am simply trying to do my job without being a wanted woman."
"Ahh, so the heroes managed to hold one over on you."
"More like the world. People fear me; what's the best way for them to stay out of my way? To get them to shut the fuck up," Estelle snapped back, despising the fact she had to explain herself.
The villain looked up from his glass with a smirk and stood up. Slowly walking over to Estelle, he landed in front of her with his hand raised. Staying still, Estelle didn't flinch as his finger grazed her face. Honestly, she was holding back the reaction to body slam him to the ground; but this would have to do.
"You know, I only need the rest of my fingers to crush you into dust."
Bored, Estelle flickered her eyes up to the villain. Staring down his soul as she muttered, "Good riddance."
Letting out a loud laugh, Shigiraki took a step back as he stared at Estelle. Confused, Estelle felt conflicted as his eyes seemed almost fond of her. "You really are interesting. The havoc that you could cause," Shigiraki sighed with disappointment.
Feeling vibrating footsteps heading their way, Estelle instantly turned to the door. Internally, she hoped it was the man in red. It would solve the mystery for her in such a leisurely fashion.
Unfortunately, life was never that easy.
It was Hawkes. The number two hero.
Feeling the fatigue hit her like a train, Estelle gazed at the man in exasperation. 'What the fuck was this? Honestly.'
Ignoring his words of casual hello, Estelle moved over to the bar to pull out a can of beer. The villains watched her avidly as she did so, a fascinated glint in their eyes once she pulled out the alcohol. She continued to ignore them, pulling out some whiskey to add just enough for her to get through this mess.
The room remained silent as she gulped down the drink without taking a breath. Feeling a wave of fresh air, Estelle overlooked the hero, now villain and turned to the main event.
"So, I'm interested. Who's the man in red?"
"Ooh, someone is curious!" Toga yelled out jovially. Estelle winced from her annoying voice, making a zipper motion on her mouth as a warning.
"That's not nice! I should take some of your blood for that!"
"I wouldn't recommend that. I have poison running through my veins."
"Oh darn!"
"Don't talk about that pesky brat!" Shigariki snarled, seemingly peeved about Estelle's topic of conversation.
Estelle shifted to the other villains for guidance with a lifted brow; she was surprised by the leader's reaction. Various shrugs popped up throughout the room before the magician finally spoke. "He just showed up one day and said he was a part of the crew. Isn't here most of the time, but when he is, it's not pretty."
"So why have him around?"
"Can't get rid of him", Dabi muttered, an agreed dislike showing around the room.
"Why do you care anyway?" Shigiraki challenged with a snarl on his face.
Shrugging, Estelle murmured. "Didn't seem like one of you. He was strange when I encountered him."
"Oh! You must have been around us long enough to gather that!"
"It's common sense, brat", Estelle snipped back, a glare on her face as she stared down Toga. 'Gosh, she's annoying.'
"Hmpt."
Turning back to face Shigaraki, Estelle sipped her second can of beer as her eyes flickered to Hawks. Since they were all looking at her, she could see the seriousness in her eyes. He was up to something, but Estelle had more important things to worry about than a potentially corrupt hero.
"You have kept up with the news, correct? I'm looking for a way home. I predict that I'll be gone in less than a year. So, why bother looking for me when that fact is already public knowledge? Especially when I'm busy keeping you all safe from beasts that could withstand your quirks and rip you all to shreds if I wasn't here to kill them every day."
Standing in dumbfounded silence, the villains and whatever Hawks was, stared at her with befuddlement. Estelle took a deep breath from the company; clearly, they weren't well informed of the creatures.
"Withstand our quirks?"
Ignoring the magician's query, Estelle gazed back up to the handyman. "So, whatever your plan is. You need firepower and powerful people to back you up. I'm flattered that you thought of me, thank you-"
"She's polite too," Dabi interrupted, his gaze trailing over her frame appreciatively.
"-But I decline. As I have previously said, I have my own battles to fight. I cannot help with anything else at the moment. Because if I'm honest, If I'm not there to fight it. You won't even get the chance to play out your evil schemes. Because you'll all be fucking dead."
"Woah. You make it sound like whatever you're dealing with is really bad?" Twice jumped in.
Reflecting on the hidden warnings Estelle had recently received, She stared up at the villains with a seriousness that made them stand straight. "With the way things are looking. It is. Your battle with heroes is pointless right now. But do you, I guess."
"Would you join us if we helped you with whatever this is?" Shigirki bartered, hoping there was a chance to convince the teenager.
Shaking her head, Estelle murmured, "Ever wonder why the heroes never joined me in battle? It's because you guys cant fight them. I'm pretty much the world's only defence."
"What about after?"
"If we aren't all dead? I hope to be back on my planet by then."
"You could stay with us; watch the world burn as we rule at the top."
Scoffing, Estelle was beginning to get irritated by their persistence. "What's the point of saving this world when you all squabble like ants. Why should I risk my life to save you all only to watch it burn alongside you? I hate war; I have had enough of it. Humans continue to follow the cycle of hatred, even when allowed peace. You are all so narrowminded, drowning in the selfish causes that you deem justified. Villains, Heroes, warring countries; you're all the same."
"Spoken like a true villain."
'Oh, fuck this shit.'
Letting her shoulders droop with her eyes closed, the villains around her could see she was done talking to them. They had gotten their answer, unfortunately.
Estelle pushed past the counter to leave but briefly stopped when a portal generated in front of her. Startled that they were so willing to let her go, Estelle turned to Dabi and Shigarki with curiosity. The expression caused them to be taken aback for a moment until she finally spoke. "The man in red. I have my suspicions about him, and they aren't good. Is there really nothing you can tell me about him?"
"Suspicion about what?! Is it to do with the really, really bad thing happening?" Toga chirped.
"That's what I'm trying to find out. Spill it; it could keep you all alive."
"He already knew your name. That's all we picked up." Dabi expressed, getting admonishing looks from those around him.
Furrowing her brows, Estelle's puzzlement only grew from the answer. "I would suggest you refrain from mentioning our meeting. Whoever he is, if he already knew who I was. He's bad news. Probably only using your cause to get to me, so I'm sure he would kill you all if you said anything."
"Huh? He cant take us all!"
Flickering her glare back to Toga, Estelle snarked, "I could take all of you. Any being in my world could. If he's related to all of this, then yes. He could rip you to shreds before you could say polo. You could be dealing with a monster, so take my warning seriously. Don't mention me."
Nodding, the villains were conflicted. Estelle's situation was utterly dissimilar from the hero norm. This matter was clearly way out of their wavelength, and they were signing a death certificate apparently if they got her to stop. They had big plans in place; they couldn't have everyone dead before they came to fruition. Strangely, because of that, they needed Estelle to deal with this. And, apparently, the stranger could be involved. They were entangled in it without even realising.
With that, Estelle nodded to the villains, whatever Hawks was and headed through the portal. Feeling nauseous, Estelle seemed to have landed in the middle of town. Grimacing at the shouts from the men across the road, Estelle let out her wings to head to UA.
It wasn't long before she reached the entrance and headed inside. Nodding to the students in greeting, Estelle immediately got into her jammies before heading down to watch some tv. Sending an update to Shinsou through her phone, Estelle let her mind rest from today's events with nature. She wouldn't inform Mr Aizawa of what happened because, honestly, she had a feeling she might hear from them again. Estelle didn't want to rat them out if there was valuable information at hand.
Time flew in a blink of an eye, and Estelle staggered when the blonde shook her awake from her daydreams. Looking at the window, Estelle was inwardly stunned that the day had darkened. "Come, dinner's ready," Bakugo muttered gruffly, his eyes scanning her as she remembered where she was.
Standing up to follow, Estelle trailed behind Bakugo on their way to the dining room. "You've been staring at the window for hours."
"Hm, had a lot to think about."
"Tch, don't you always."
