Good day, everyone :)
I´ve been reading a lot of stories on this website with my favorite ones coming from Edens Zero, Fairy Tail and Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V.
Now, before reading the story, let me point some things out.
First of all, english isn´t my birth language so I apologize beforehand for any sort of grammatical errors, or spelling errors. Second, I never really played the game myself. I only watched the anime on TV, or read it in fanfictions, so I hope the Duels wil be exciting enough. Third, I´lll be using both real cards and fanmade cards, and it might happen that cards will have different Effects, and that I might change things when it comes to Type, Attribute, Level or ATK and DEF of real cards, so don´t get confused. Finally, I don´t have a set schedule. I will release the chapters when I feel they are ready.
This is my first story so I understand that there will be critics. Just don´t be insulting please. But if any of you does like this story, then thank you.

The end of the world.
That´s the only way to describe this. Destroyed homes, fires raging on uncrontrollably, and cries of terror, agony and sadness from God knows whatever horrendous calamity had inflicted such devastation upon the once proud and beautiful land.
Lightning strikes through the redish-black sky as an inhuman roar was heard in the distance. A giant creature shrouded in darkness was hovering over what appears to be the little remains of a large village. Following its thunderous roar, the behemoth unleashed a powerful energy blast from its mouth, in an instant wipping out another village and some montains in the far distance.
It roared once more before a presence made it turn around. Below it, six persons were standing there resolutely, looking like they intended to challenge the creature, which kind of may be a foolish notion in all aspects. However, those persons, who appear to be two female and four male, although their appearances are hidden by shadows, didn´t seem intent to budge from their spot.
The creature roared once more as suddenly numerous different kinds of beings appeared before the humans below. The humans then raised their hands and energy from the earth, the moon, the animals, and the wind, it all flowed towards them and swirled around like a vortex.
The beings then lout out mighty battle cries, causing an eruption of a bright multicolored light, and the giant creature begun to howl in pure agony. "Argh ! ... damnit... damnit ! ... ARGH !" Large cracks in different colors appeared across the creature´s entire body. It then roared with immense rage at those facing it. "Stop it ! Stop it now ! Or you all will suffer the consequences ! Now and for all eternity ! Wherever you send me... I WILL RISE AGAIN !" The cracks brightend up, and with one final ear-shattering howl, the giant creature seemingly split apart, accompanied by a very bright white light that devoured everything.

A sudden rough movement woke up a teenage girl of fifteen years who had fallen asleep during a ten hour flight. She rubbed the back of her head. "What a strange dream... was that a Duel... ?" She yawned before turning towards the window, peering at her reflection as if seeking for answers. Returning her gaze was a teenage girl with pink eyes and light brown hair with a single red strand and adorned with a white bandana. She wears a sleeveless white summer sweater, brown cargo pants, short black combat boots and short black fingerless gloves. A long white scarf with shredded ends is wrapped around her neck.
After staring at her reflection for a while, an annoucment from the plane´s intercome got her attention.*Attention all passengers. We will now begin our landing approach for Paradise City International Airport. Please fasten your seatbelts.*
Soon the plane arrived at the airport, and after going through security-check and waiting twenty minutes for her bagpacks, the young woman stepped outside to take in the warm fresh air. True to its reputation as one of the most advanced cities in the continent, Paradise City gave of a nice sense of modern life and beauty. It´s also known as a hotspot for jobs and careers formed around the card game Duel Monsters.

It was night. The calm sound of a japanese okulele rung through the air. A japanese shrine with three red bridges connecting to it on different points appeared in the centre. Numerous blooming sakura-trees were all around, its pink flowers floating through the air.
On this field, two Duelists were facing each other. One was a male who has 2500 LP and controls two monsters called Shield Warrior in defense position, the other one was a girl who was at 2200 LP and controls a female fairy monster named Trickstar Lilybell. The girl then slammed a card into her white Duel Disk. "I activate my Rush Recklessly Spell Card ! By paying 1000 LP, until the end of this turn, my Trickstar Lilybell´s defense points are added to her attack points ! And thanks to her special ability, she can attack you directly !"
Her opponent was taken by surprise. "But that means... !"
"I win ! Now go !" The girl called and her monster launched an attack directly at her opponent, reducing his lifepoints to zero. "It's all over now ! Our winner of this Duel is none other than Nanoha Sakari !" The MC announced. The battle field disappeared and the girl waved at the cheering crowd. Nanoha was a girl of fifteen with blue eyes and brown hair tied back in a high ponytail and wearing glasses. She had on a simple light green sweater, white skirt and knee length brown boots.
As she then left the stage, she pulled out a smartphone from her skirt´s pocket and opened the website which showed the international ranking system of all Duelists in the world. "Not bad. This win got me three ranks higher." Nanoha said with a smile as she liked the progress she's made in her Duels. However, there was a group among the crowd that took interest in this. And by the looks of it, they might mean all kinds of trouble...

Meanwhile, the teenage girl who just arrived in Paradise City was enjoying a nice walk around the city. Carrying her red bag over her shoulder, she came across a few of the city´s famous sightseeing attractions. A large Opera House, the Freedom Bridge, a large and lifely shopping district, an amusment park, and a normal park where many people her age or older were dueling each other. Seeing them, she couldn´t wait to duel herself.
"Hurry ! I don´t want to miss the next Duel !" She saw a couple kids run by and smiled at how excited they were about Duels.

The day was coming to an end as Nanoha was on her way home. The streets of Paradise City are pretty alive all the time, but sometimes danger isn´t far away. As she made her way under a bridge, some guys came out of hiding and it was obvious that she was in trouble. "Hey. Saw your Duel, and it looks like you're wracking up the wins." One guy stepped forward. He was bigger and more muscular than the others. Nanoha didn´t like this as she recognized the flaming skull-shaped symbol on their clothes. "You're... you're the Duel Breakers !" She said, taking a step back. "You're those no good punks that like to gang up on Duelists and steal their cards after injuring them in brutal Duels !"
"We're not punks. We're just inspiring Duelists who like to win." One of them said.
"What should we do, Isamu ?" Another one asked their leader.
"Let's give her the royal treatment." Isamu said as they all wanted a piece of her. Each of them activated their Duel Disks and summoned DARK-Type monsters which surrounded her. Nanoha might be a decent Duelist, but she is quite outnumbered here and was unsure what to do. "Hey, come on. I didn't do anything. I'm not that special. Just please let me go." Nanoha said as she raised her hands in defense.
"If you're a Duelist, you should be able to fight. Come on !" Isamu said as he and his goons attacked her. Nanoha braced herself, but that was when something saved her. A red energy beam soared through and all the monsters were eliminated in one shot. "What was that ?! Who's there ?!" They all looked to the entrance and saw the girl who recently arrived in Paradise City. On her left arm was an activated crimson Duel Disk with a curved black energy blade with a yellow border.
"Who are you ?" Isamu demanded.
"What's this about ? Ganging up on someone like that isn't fair. This isn't how you duel. It should only be for fun and improve your skills." The girl said with a serious expression.
"Well, this is fun for us. And if you don't want to get hurt, keep out of the way." Isamu warned.
"Hey ! Get out of here ! These guys mean business !" Nanoha tried to reason.
"So do I. Don't worry about it." The girl said.
"Ha. You think you can take all of us on ?" Isamu mocked as they all looked ready for a fight. "Looks like we got someone trying to be the big hero."
"She clearly doesn't know what she's getting into." One of the goons said.
"Don't say we didn't warn you, little girl." Isamu claimed and all of them tried attacking at once. However, all she did was play one card and create a force that knocked some of them over. This girl had some skill and she showed it by showing them her ranking. Seeing her current rank was shocking for them.
"She is under the top 1500 players ?!"
"I've never seen someone her age this high in the ranks !"
"Who are you ?" Isamu asked.
"The name's Lena... Lena Ryuga. Next time you want to have a Duel, do it fairly." She said as she looked down on their actions. Isamu groaned in frustration as he could tell they couldn't take her so easily. "We'll remember this !" Isamu said as he and his guys retreated.
"Bunch of bullies." Lena said as she deactivated her Duel Disk. She then turned to Nanoha. "You okay ?"
"Uh... Yeah... Thanks for that." Nanoha said as she was amazed at what she just saw.
"Your welcome." Lena smiled before starting to walk out of there.
"Hey ! Wait up !" Nanoha said as she went after her. Meeting her, she doesn't want to see someone this amazing leave so soon.

Night has fallen and Nanoha has followed Lena around. She's clearly a skilled Duelist and Nanoha would like to know more. "That was simply amazing what you did back there. I've never seen anyone send someone packing with just a couple moves like that." Nanoha said, not even trying to hide her excitment. "I can't believe you were willing to take them all on."
"They were just a bunch of show-offs and bullies. The way you handle them is to stand up to them and show you're not afraid." Lena explained. "Nanoha is your name, right ? Who were those guys anyway ?"
"They call themselves the Duel Breakers. They´re punks who pick on other Duelists and force them into brutal Duels. Rumors say that some Duelists who were attacked also ended up in the hospital, seriously injured." Nanoha said with a slight troubled expression. "They often like to steal cards from others as well."
"Like I said. They're just show-offs and bullies. Once they saw my rank, they easily got scared and ran off." Lena said.
"How did you reach a rank among the top 1500 Duelists in the world ? Where are you from ? I don't think I've seen you around before." Nanoha asked question after question. That was right when Lena tossed her bag against a grassy area near the river and rested against it. "I've been traveling the continent for the past year, going from one place to the next, and taking on many strong Duelists."
"Wow. No wonder you are so high in the ranking." Nanoha said as she sat down next to her.
"Yeah, and you get to see so many great places." Lena continued as she gazed up at the moon and stars. "The best part are all the great challenges I get to face, and they're a lot more fun than having to deal with those punks."
"Of course, the true key to having strength is having heart." She added.
"Having heart ?" Nanoha repeated, looking confused.
"If your heart is in it, you can always change the Duel in your favor. It doesn't matter how powerful your cards are. What matters is how you play with them and not just use them. Treat your cards with respect and believe in them, then they will answer your calls."
"I´m not sure I follow." Nanoha replied.
"Don't worry. I think you'll get it eventually." Lena smiled which made Nanoha smile as well.

After what happened by the bridge, Isamu and the others retreated back to a warehouse that they use as a hideout. "I'm telling you that this is no joke." Isamu said as they were speaking to the one in charge. "This Lena has got some skill. She sent us flying and is even among the top 1500 Duelist in the rankings !"
"Really ? I've got to admit that she does sound rather interesting." The one in charge said.
"What are you going to do Seth ?" Isamu then asked. Their gang-leader Seth might have been more fit than Isamu, but he was the most tenacious. He had wild spiky green hair that was with part of it tied back. He wears beige ripped pants and a black overcoat with a shredded bottom end. As for his grey eyes, just looking at them could tell you he's dangerous.
"I say we put her to the test. Let's see if she's really all that tough." He claimed with a grin as he liked where this might be going.

It´s saturday morning and Nanoha was on her way to see Lena once more. She had such a great time with Lena the other night, and wants to see if she can learn from her a bit and get stronger. Nanoha ran as fast as she could because she was eager to get started. "Hey ! Lena !" She called as she made it to where she last saw her, but saw that Lena was already gone. "Oh man. Don't tell me she left already. I thought she could help improve my skills, maybe even be friends." She moaned as she looked around. "Maybe I can still catch her." She said and took of.
At the same time, Lena was walking through the city´s large shopping district. And it seemed she was looking for something. "I know this shop is good hidden... let´s see..." She sneaked into a side alley and pulled out a Duel Monster´s card. She held it up and it glowed before it shattered and a brown eagle with a silver helmet appeared and landed on her shoulder. She patted it with a smile. "I am seeking out advice from those who dare to listen. I am here to see Gramps." She said and the eagly nodded before taking of.
Lena waited until it was out of sight and then left the alley. Upon walking across the street, she looked up at a large advertising billboard as music started to play and a male MC appeared on the screen. "Greeting Duelists and fans ! Our every year championship, the Arc League Championship is nearing ! And it promises to be amazing, especially as Duelists from all around the world will participate in it. So better don´t miss it !"
Lena narrowed her eyes a bit at the news. ( "This will be the start of my story. I have to make it right." )
With that thought she was ready to go and grab something to eat at one of the food carts but stopped when she saw Isamu was standing in front of her and it was clear he wanted trouble. She then looked around and saw a lot of Duel Breakers surrounding her. "Hey. We're having a little gettogether, and you're invited." Isamu said with a smirk.

Meanwhile, Nanoha kept looking around in hopes that she can still find Lena. "Lena ! Where are you ?!" She kept searching, but didn't find her and didn't know what else to do. That was until she spotted the Duel Breakers and caught a glimpse of Lena being forced going into a construction site. "Oh no !" Nanoha quickly went after them.
Inside the construction area, Lena was placed in the center and was surrounded by so many of those punks with their leader Seth watching from the top. Nanoha came running in and she got a bad feeling at what she saw. "You think you're some tough stuff, but let's see how tough you really are." Isamu said as he tried to intimidate her. "We're giving you the royal treatment with the One-Hundred Monster Mash. We'll be coming at you all at once. Let's see how you handle that."
"Fine with me." Lena said, not sounding concerned. "I'm not scared. You guys are just punks who like to push people around thinking it makes you look cool and tough, when really it's pathetic."
"Ha. Look at her. She's the one acting tough."
"Time to say goodbye to all your cards."
"Let's show this girl she messed with the wrong crowd."
"Yeah..." Isamu said as they all activated their Duel Disks. "Attack !" All of those Duel Breakers attacked as they summoned out a variety of monsters. They all came at her and moved through the area. It was like pandemonium in there.
"This is crazy ! There are too many of them !" Nanoha said as she jumped out of the way as a monster nearly hit her.
"That's the point of the One-Hundred Monster Mash. With so many monsters moving around like that, it's difficult to tell where an attack is really going to come from. No one has ever survived it." Isamu said as all of them laughed and enjoying this unfair method. How does one counter when a hundred monsters are coming at them.
"Stop it ! This isn't fair !" Nanoha called.
"It's fine, Nanoha. Like I said before. I'm not going to lose to guys that don't have heart." Lena said, still not looking worried.
"Heart ?! What are you talking about ? Just hurry up and admit defeat !" Isamu snapped at her.
"Sorry, not happening." Lena said as she reached for the top card of her Deck. Suddenly, it was like a strange sensation was emitting from her. Nanoha noticed it and so did Seth. "Here goes !" She drew her card and played it. One card was all she needed. Once she played it, an intense light shined and her monster emerged in front of her. It was more like a red glowing shadow of a bipedal monster with a tail, two spikes on its back, and different glowing eyes. It roared and jumped into the air before it unleashed a powerful dark energy beam from its mouth that easily destroyed monster after monster.
"Huh ?! What the heck is happening ?!" Isamu cried out in shock.
"Amazing !" Nanoha said as all of them couldn't believe what they were seeing. Lena´s one monster just took down an entire army of monsters like it was nothing. "She drew the one card she needed ! She believed in herself and got what she needed ! I think I'm starting to understand !"
The Duel Breakers didn't like how this was unfolding and all of them decided to just run for it. Lena might really be a powerful Duelists. Once they all cleared out, Lena stood victorious with her monster landing right next to her. She smiled and patted its head. It growled softly. "I know, buddy. Not much of a challenge. Still, thank you." She said and her monster roared before vanishing.
"That was incredible !" Nanoha cheered as she ran to her and was amazed at what she saw.
"Told you it´ll be fine." Lena said with a smile.
"Hahaha..." Laughing then made them both look up and saw the one opponent remained... Seth. "Lena Ryuga... it looks like I finally found someone that can give me a challenge."
"Who are you ?" Lena asked.
"My name is Seth Akiyama. I'm looking forward to dueling against you." Seth said with a smirk before he turned around and left.
"I have a feeling this isn´t over yet." Nanoha said as she looked at Lena.
"You´re right. This is just the beginning." Lena replied as she looked up at the sky.
