Eddie and Alicia locked eyes once the man hit the ground. Alicia looked frozen in time. The man laid on the ground almost lifeless. It was a quiet standoff between the two women until Eddie finally spoke up.

"Alicia… this is your chance. You can come with us and be out of this nightmare. We can help you."

The woman stared at Eddie for a long moment before slowly shaking her head. "I've tried… He always finds me. I'm tired of trying. It's better if I stay. Besides… I'm sure they stopped looking for me a long time ago."

"A family never stops looking," Eddie assured her. "Never."

Their conversation was suddenly interrupted by Grace, who let out a series of hard coughs. Eddie immediately ran to her and picked her up off the ground.

"It's okay, baby. It's okay," she comforted gently. "You're going to be okay. I'm getting you out of here."

Then, Eddie turned to Alicia, who seemed to be rooted in place.

"This is your last chance, Alicia…" Eddie said. "You can come with us…"

Alicia shook her head as she looked at Grace, "You go. Take care of her. I'll find my way out. I have some business to tend to here first."

"Alicia…" Eddie trailed off.

"You go," she insisted. Then, Alicia reached into the man's pocket and handed Eddie a pair of keys. "This unlocks the door. Go before he gets up. I'll be okay. Get her some help."

Eddie was surprised by Alicia's actions but was relieved. "Thank you," was all she managed to get out before running off with the keys and Grace in her arms.

Another day passed with more disappointment for Jamie. There was no more leads to Eddie and Grace. They'd hit every address imaginable and came up with nothing. The trail was getting colder by the minute. He was at a loss now and he hated to admit that he was losing hope.

"Kid…" Danny said softly as he drove them over the bridge. "Let's call it for today. You're exhausted and need rest. And you need to go spend time with your son. Erin said that he's been asking about you all day. Let's go get some shut eye for a few hours and then we'll get back to it."

"Dan…" he trailed off.

"I told you that we won't stop until we find them and I will keep my promise," Danny assured him. "… to you, Conor, and to them. But knowing my sister-in-law, she would kick me in the ass if she knew that you weren't taking care of yourself. Please… just a few hours. Get some sleep and hang out with Conor."

Jamie sighed, "Okay…"

They arrived to the Reagan house a little while later to find a very happy little boy at the door waiting for them.

"Dada!" Conor screeched happily.

"Hi buddy," Jamie said gently as the pajama clad toddler ran into his outstretched arms. He pressed a kiss to his plump cheek. "I missed you."

The one year old clearly felt the same with the way he laid his head on his father's shoulder and closed his eyes. Frank, Henry, and Erin watched the touching scene from the kitchen and had to turn away to wipe at their eyes.

"Can Uncle Danny get a cuddle too?" Danny said hopefully as he greeted the little boy with a kiss to the top of the head.

Conor went to his Uncle for a moment and gave him a hug before reaching back for his father.

"The food is ready, boys," Frank announced to his sons as they walked into the kitchen.

"Has he eaten yet?" Jamie asked about his son as they sat down at the table.

Henry nodded, "Mashed potatoes with roast beef mixed in. He ate it right up. He should be fine."

Danny and Jamie ate their food contently while the rest of the family sat around them and made small talk. Of course, everyone was dying to know how they were doing when it came to the search but wanted to give them some time to decompress before diving into any questions.

Jamie quickly excused himself after he was finished, wanting to put a now sleeping Conor to bed and get some rest himself. Everyone bid the father and son a quick goodnight and watched as they walked up the stairs to Jamie's old room.

"How's it going, son?" Frank asked, taking a seat across from his oldest. "Any leads?"

Danny sighed and shook his head, "No. The only thing we found was at the first building we checked out. They had a ton of pictures all over the walls in one room that were of Eddie, Grace, and even Conor. As far back as Christmas."

Erin put a hand over her mouth and shook her head, "Oh my god."

"But beyond that… nothing. The kid was so worn down after that. I was the one who suggested to come back and rest for awhile. I figured that seeing Conor would perk him up a bit. He needs that right now."

Everyone nodded in agreement. "Don't tell the Commissioner I said this…" Frank began. "Whatever resources the two of you need… you got it. Whatever has to be done to find Eddie and my granddaughter, do it."

"Yes sir," Danny replied.

The next morning, Jamie woke up with his son's face buried in his neck and his small body laid over his chest. He couldn't help but chuckle at the small puffs of air that were tickling at him. He looked at the time to see that they'd gotten a full eight hours. It was eight hours that were much needed and he felt like he could think clearly again.

He looked down at his little boy, who was still fast asleep. He contemplated moving him over so he could get up and check in with Danny, but he didn't want to disturb his rest. It was nice to have a few quiet moments with his son before having to get up and face the reality of their life at the moment.

"Jamie…" he heard someone whisper. He turned his head to see his older brother peeking his head through the door. "When do you want to head out?"

"Give me thirty minutes," he replied as he gently started to pry Conor off of him. "Has anyone called with anything?"

Danny shook his head, "No."

The slight light that had appeared in Jamie's eyes after a restful sleep suddenly dimmed. "Okay…" he trailed off with a small shake of his head.

Eddie felt like she ran for days once she finally was able to leave the building. She didn't bother to look back and went as quick as her short legs would take her. She ran through a variety of brush before finally making it out to what seemed to be main road to the city.

Did she know what city? Not at all. But the license plate she read on the car that had driven past them let her know that she was at least in New Jersey, which made her breathe a thankful sigh.

Her focus was now getting her little girl to the hospital. That was the plan and no one was going to get in the way of doing that.

Danny and Jamie were crossing the bridge when the call came in. There was a stolen red Honda Civic from the local car rental center in Morristown that was driving erratically on the interstate. The detail that took his breath away was that the suspect fit the exact description of his wife.

"What the hell?" Danny said to himself as he looked over at his brother.

"If it is her, something drastic must be happening for her to have done that," Jamie pointed out. "We need to get there, Dan. Now."

Danny nodded and pressed on the accelerator.

Eddie doesn't know how it happened. She trekked with Grace for a few hours before needing to stop and rest. Her legs and arms were shot and she just needed to stop. She found an alley next to a small grocery store where she decided to seek refuge.

She sat down against the brick wall and cuddled her daughter, who was awake now but had been in and out of consciousness for awhile. The sun had warmed the little girl up slightly but the shivers didn't stop.

"We're almost there, honey," Eddie assured her daughter with a kiss to the forehead. "But Mama is kind of tired so we're going to rest for a little bit before we keep going."

Grace nodded weakly before closing her eyes again. She was trying to lay low and find the hospital without being detected. She had no trust in anyone right now and wouldn't be able to breathe until walking through the doors of the hospital where she knew they would be safe.

Eddie had her head leaned back and closed her eyes for what it seemed was a short while before she felt someone tugging at the bundle in her arms that was her daughter. She opened her eyes to find a random, disheveled man trying to pull her daughter out of her arms.

"Leave us alone!" Eddie screamed, fighting to get on her feet.

The look in his eyes was something that she'd seen with perps time and time again. He was clearly high and not in a right state of mind.

There was a fight between the two, to which thankfully, Grace did not wake up for. Eddie was finally victorious as she swept his feet out from under him, sending him tumbling to the ground. She jumped to her feet and took off running.

The man didn't stay down for long and got up, running after them. Eddie ran faster than she ever had before. She didn't dare turn to look back. She hoped that she was going fast enough to get them away from that lunatic.

All of a sudden, she found herself in a parking lot of a rental car center, staring down a car that had the driver's side door open and the keys glistening in the ignition. It seemed like fate to her and a given opportunity for her to take.

Eddie quickly looked around and saw that no one was near. She quickly laid Grace down on the floorboard in the passenger's seat before jumping into the driver's seat and shutting the door.

She peeled out of the parking lot and the only thing she managed to see as she pulled away was a frantic man running out of the office of the car rental center and attempting to chase them down before stopping and turning back around.

"Mama," Grace cried out tiredly in her sleep.

"I'm going to get you there, honey. I promise," Eddie reassured her daughter.

"We're coming up on it," Danny said as he finally eyed the convoy of police cars speeding down the interstate.

Jamie sat up in his seat as Danny had them join the convoy. He watched intently at the red car in the front. They weren't driving as erratically as described but definitely had some speed to them.

"They're laying out the spike strips," Danny noticed as he looked up ahead. "Hopefully, that slows them down."

"We need to get up there, Danny. If it's her, I need to make sure she sees me."

"Jamie... it's too dangerous. Let them slow the car down. Once they slow it down, we'll go up."

He let out a frustrated sigh at his older brother but didn't say anything else, knowing he was right. They heard a loud pop and watched as the car started to slow.

The driver quickly pulled over toward the median. They waited with baited breath as the driver slowly got out of the car, with their hands up.

"Eddie," Jamie breathed when he finally saw that it was her.

Danny immediately pressed on the accelerator and and got them as close as he could to the barricade of police cars that formed around the red Honda Civic. They jumped out of the car and tried to get through the barricade but were immediately stopped .

"You can't get through," an officer told them as he put an arm out in front of them.

"The hell we can!" Danny exclaimed. He quickly shoved passed him and let Jamie go through.

"Eddie!" he yelled as he ran toward her.

Her terrified eyes shifted toward the sound of his voice. When she finally spotted him, she let out a cry of relief.

"Jamie!" She ran to him and nearly collapsed in his arms.

He pressed a kiss to the top of her head as he hugged her tight. "You're okay. You're okay," he comforted gently, pressing a kiss to the side of her head as he held her. "You're safe now."

Their embrace was short lived due to Eddie suddenly pulling out of his arms and pulling him toward the car.

"Grace needs help!" she exclaimed, pulling her husband over to the passenger's side to find the four year old laying on the floorboard bundled in the blanket, motionless and pale.

Jamie's heart sank at seeing his little girl in that state but he immediately sprang into action by picking her up and running back to their car with Danny and Eddie following behind. The older Reagan jumped into the driver's seat while Jamie and Eddie were in the back with their daughter.

"It's Daddy, sweetheart," Jamie said gently as he tapped her cheeks in an effort to get her to wake up. "You're safe now, honey. It's all over. Me and Mama are here and we're going to take you to the hospital to get you some help. Wake up for Daddy, Grace."

Her eyes fluttered slightly then quickly settled. The little girl seemed to know that her father was there and burrowed further into him, which he took as a good sign. He rocked her in his arms and repeatedly kissed her forehead.

"How much longer until the hospital, Dan?" Jamie asked with urgency in his voice.

"Two minutes out. They know we're coming," he replied.

"See… Uncle Danny said that we're almost there, honey," Jamie continued to his daughter. "We're going to get you the help you need. You're going to be just fine. Wake up for Daddy, Grace. I need to see those blue eyes of yours, please."

Finally, it seemed that the little girl sensed her father's despair and managed to open her eyes slightly to look up at him.

"There you go, baby," he said gently with a tearful smile. "Good job."

"Daddy…" Grace managed to get out, her voice barely above a whisper. Suddenly, she started to lift her head up but immediately laid it back down due to being so weak. "Mama… where?"

"I'm right here, Grace," Eddie said with tears streaming down her face. She pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Mama's right here."

They made it to the hospital in record time. Danny pulled up right to the emergency entrance, where a whole team was waiting on them with two gurneys. Jamie immediately laid their daughter down on one, while a nurse tried to get Eddie on the other.

"I'm going with my daughter!" Eddie exclaimed as she pulled away and tried to follow Jamie and Grace. "I need to be with her!"

"Ma'am, we need to check you out too," the nurse tried to reason.

"No! I need to go with my daughter," she fought back. "Please! I'm fine! Take care of her!"

Jamie turned from where he had been following their daughter. He signaled to Danny to go with her, to which he nodded and walked along with the gurney.

"Babe," Jamie said gently, putting his hands on her arms in an effort to calm her down. "You need to get checked out. Please."

"I need to go with her, Jamie," Eddie pleaded with tears in her eyes. "I need to protect her."

"You can stand down now, Eddie," Jamie replied pointedly. "I'm here. You're safe. She's safe. I'm here to protect you. I won't let anything happen to the two of you ever again. I promise."

She stared at him for a long moment before finally giving a nod and allowing him to help her onto the gurney. He pressed a kiss to her forehead before holding her hand as they wheeled her off.

Thankfully for Jamie, the staff who witnessed Eddie's outburst took her and Grace to the same room to be assessed together. They immediately threw a warming blanket onto his daughter, who was starting to come to a little bit but was mostly lethargic. Both of them were dehydrated and frail, needing a variety of antibiotics. Grace was only more alert when she realized that a needle was about to go in her arm. She cried softly as her father held her in his lap and her godfather held down her arm. She quickly fell to sleep after that, cuddled in her father's arms.

Eddie was on the other bed, staring out ahead at the wall. Over forty-eight hours of hell were finally over. Her little girl was safe. She was safe. Things weren't going to be completely okay for awhile and she knew that. But, as long as she had her little family around her, she knew that they would get there eventually.
