Chapter Thirty-Nine:
Eggpocalypse Now; The Final Battle
It had all come down to this, from the moment when Sonic encountered the Eggman Alliance in Furtree Village, and here, this was where the crisis had come to ahead. After so much planning, and after years of defeats along with much manipulation from two of their own allies, the Eggmen had assembled what they could have considered their greatest creation yet.
What both Sonics were looking at wasn't an ancient evil that had been sealed away or an evil entity that had orchestrated all of the events leading up to now, this was a hybrid horror, and the main instigator of it was Doctor Eggman, Eggmandorf, and Sat AM Robotnik.
The Eggnikbrid stared down upon the battle-ready hedgehogs, and roared demonically, it's eyes flashing a brighter red. On it's head, the Black Emerald was shining with ominous radiance, fueling the abomination's strength.
And somewhere within, all seven of the Chaos Emeralds were having their energies poured into the Eggnikbrid as it leaned into their negative side, which had to really put a strain on the Chaos Emeralds with the Black Emerald involved.
High above, the grey in the clouds faded into a blood red color, and more sinister lightning exploded as the earth shook again. On Angel Island, the Master Emerald, safe in it's altar, let off an eerie gleam.
By this point, there were no other options remaining. The future of the world was hanging by a thread, and all of reality was at stake. Sonic approached the looming beast with the other speedsters, ready for one last stand, and their friends were counting on them.
Myrule Sonic did a quick double-back, and swept Princess Amy #2 into his arms, shared a quick little kiss with the royal hedgehog, and rejoined the League of Sonics as they headed into battle with the monster.
Even without the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic could still fight, as long as he avoided every attack, even if that leviathan Egg-monster was dwarfing the Sonics by ten-fold. With Silver gliding alongside him, and Shadow air shoe-skating with fierce confidence, Sonic, Boom Sonic, and the other speedsters made a rush for the Eggnikbrid.
All the hedgehogs were set on confusing, disorienting, and toppling their opponent by any means necessary. Movie Sonic and Manhog Sonic's fur crackled with energy, and the two speedsters boosted closer towards the monster's massive foot, while their eyes gleamed a bright shade of blue.
Sonic spun his legs like mad, and, tapping into all of his energy, the blue speedster streaked across the field at a lightning quick pace into close proximity with the Eggnikbrid. Classic Sonic dashed as fast as he could, and his legs were spinning in a Figure 8, while Boom Sonic went faster than the speed of light.
Just as the Eggnikbrid was about to take another step forward, Sonic and his counterparts leaped onto it's foot and raced up the monstrosity's leg. Silver tapped into his telekinesis, and gave the Sonics a little boost, keeping them from falling off at the moment their enemy tried to shake them off it's leg.
Flying Egg Pawns made themselves known, appearing around the Eggnikbrid's thigh, and a pair of Swatbots emerged to join their orange counterparts, ready to confront the heroes. The Eggmen's Badniks unloaded their ammo, and rained laser fire on the advancing group.
"CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow yelled, and the black hedgehog threw a bolt of energy at a pair of enemy robots, taking them out, just before Sonic launched a Silver-assisted Homing Attack and smashed up the rest of the robots.
The hedgehogs' advance continued, and they raced along the beast's torso while the Eggnikbrid roared furiously, and tried to shake off the perceived pests. Sonic swerved to avoid the mouth and the eyes, and ducked when a large robotic hand came up to try and pluck off the heroes.
Myrule Sonic and Princess Amy #2 nodded to one another, and outstretched their hands as if to reach out for something important. The mark of the TriChaosForce of Wisdom gleamed on the back of the princess' hand, and got brighter by the second, and the TriChaosForce of Courage's mark shone bright on Myrule Sonic's hand.
Boom Sonic yelled as he and the other spiked hedgehog speedsters further up their enemy's monstrous body. Sonic maneuvered his way around the Eggnikbrid's necklace, and raced onto the beast's plated shoulder, which led up the neck of the monster. The Eggnikbrid was roaring furiously, and Sonic spotted Tails flying about with his counterparts.
"We got your back, Sonics!" Tails called out.
"Hey, Eggheads!" Boom Tails yelled, "ARE YOU TOO SLOW?!"
The Eggnikbrid howled, and swated at the flying foxes, trying to knock them out of the sky, all while the pesky blue hedgehogs it hated immensely swarmed across it's body. Sonic, Shadow, Silver, and the other Sonics were blasting around it's mustache and it's horned ears by this point. Down below, Sonia and Manic brought out their weapons, and stepped forth to fight.
"We can't sit this one out!" Manic cried, raising some drumsticks high, "It's time for this beast to feel the biggest drum solo he's ever felt... and let's go!"
BADABADABAM BADABADABAM BADABADABAM! Manic banged on his drum set so hard, the ground was quaking like nuts, and the green hedgehog beat the drums even faster to make sure his attack was strong enough.
Sonia whipped up her piano blaster and squeezed the trigger, firing at the Eggnikbrid with her sights set on the beast's legs. Amy and Boom Amy gripped their hammers, nodded firmly to one another, and rushed across the field towards the Eggnikbrid, then they brought their Piko weapons down on it's feet before retreating as the beast staggered around.
Blaze took flight, surrounded by a near-majestic aura of fire, and she casted a fireball at the horrific beast's eye in the middle of it's head, making sure she didn't hit any of the Sonics when she did so. Knuckles did his part alongside his counterparts, they pounded the ground around the Eggnikbrid and tried to assist Manic with his special drum solo
Up top, the League of Sonics had made it onto the monster's head, just within the proximity of the Black Emerald, the source of the Eggnikbrid's power. Sonic curled into a spinning ball, and launched a homing attack on the base of the dark gemstone's altar in an effort to interfere with the sinister McGuffin.
Myrule Sonic and Princess Amy concentrated, keeping their focus on the Black Emerald, which connected to the monster and had become connected to the TriChaosForce and the seven emeralds of power. Both hero and princess focused their power, looking beyond the veil of chaotic energy, and felt the Chaos Emeralds' energy.
They felt their positive side, and a part of the TriChaosForce had connected to that. If the heroes could access it, the tide could be turned, and they had a chance to save the world from the great terror.
In that moment, Myrule Sonic and his princess wished with their will, wishing on the Seven Emeralds and the powers in their respective pieces of the majestic TriChaosForce...
...and the Black Emerald, the antithesis of the Master Emerald and the seven emeralds, shook and seemingly cracked a little as a mixture of red, yellow, blue, purple, green, cyan, and white-colored lights glowed intensely and radiantly. Seven colorful gemstones materialized, and began surrounding the League of Sonics as well as Shadow and Silver.
Sonic looked up, seeing the seven Emeralds, and nodded with a grin.
Long ago, a prayer referred to how the servers were the seven chaos, and chaos was power enriched by the heart. And, according to ancient legends, the Chaos Emeralds granted wishes. Many times before, a hero had utilized their power amidst a battle with a great threat.
Once again, with the world in danger, the time had come to use the gemstones that embodied chaos and granted wishes into reality. And Sonic was ready.
The Eggnikbrid roared, and the earth shook to the beast's cry of fury. The seven Chaos Emeralds encircled the hedgehogs, and a colorful light flashed across the air, slightly illuminating the Black Emerald and the Eggnikbrid. Down below, every hero watched on with partially shielded eyes, and a yellow glow shone upon the landscape from above.
He opened his eyes, which had shifted from green to red, and the newly-transformed Super Sonic looked to the others, both of whom had taken on yellow hues.
Boom Sonic, and Classic Sonic, AoSTH Sonic, and Sat AM Sonic, Underground Sonic, LEGO Sonic, and Movie Sonic, Manhog Sonic, and Myrule Sonic, Fleetway Sonic, Shadow, and Silver hovered in the air alongside the heroic speedster, brimming with the energies of the Chaos Emeralds.
Princess Amy #2 floated an inch above the group, her fur glowing gold, and wings protruded from her back as though she had descended from the heavens. The shapely hedgehog princess, sporting an armored dress, opened her eyes, which glowed pure white. Who could have thought a version of Amy Rose could go super?
Close by, the Eggnikbrid roared, and every super-powered hedgehog turned to face the determined beast, ready to finish this. The Black Emerald was glowing in a near dangerous manner, and below, Sticks proclaimed, "The seven gems have summoned gods!"
Lightness against the might of darkness.
The forces of order versus the forces of chaos.
Super Sonic stared intensely at the rage-fueled, dark gem-powered beast, ready to bring him down. The beast let out another howl, and brought up an arm, determined to knock the hedgehogs out of the sky, and the group of heroes flew out of the way. The monstrous Eggman-Robotnik entity's red eyes flashed, and the creature opened it's mouth.
On the top of it's skull, the Black Emerald let off a threatening gleam, and a beam of sinister energy, a near-molten ray of fire, streaked forth from the maw of the Eggnikbrid. Sonic, Princess Amy, and the others swerved to avoid the strike. Tails, Classic Tails, and the other foxes retreated to avoid being taken out by the beast's power.
Super Shadow unclicked his inhibitor rings, and the Ultimate Life Form's powers increased by tenfold. The super-powered dark hedgehog dove towards the monstrosity with Myrule Sonic and Princess Amy flying beside him, then they struck the half-mechanical terror in the face, causing the hate-driven multiversal monster to stumble away.
All eyes watched as the Black Emerald's aura glowed more intensely than ever, and the beast's red pupils glimmered. Super Sonic, Super Boom Sonic, and the other Sonics flew in, and attacked the enemy from all sides.
Down below, Jim Robotnik watched with near-astonishment, finding himself fascinated with the power of the Chaos Emeralds, which had struck his curiosity just as the Black Emerald did.
Super Silver circled the beast, and utilized his telekinesis as best he could. The Eggnikbrid froze in place, allowing the heroes to land several blows across it's body. His sights settled on the Black Emerald, and Silver reached out, the base around the gemstone began to crack as the telekinetic hedgehog poured his energy into breaking it's connection with the beast.
"Let's hit him with all that we have!" Super Sonic shouted.
"Here we go!" Underground Sonic whipped up his guitar blaster from his medallion, and the royal hedgehog rained fire on the beast, blasting the Eggman hybrid in all nine of it's eyes, blinding it enough for the hedgehogs to press their attack.
WHAM! A flailing arm slammed into Fleetway Sonic and LEGO Sonic, causing them to go flying, as the latter's head popped off for a moment. Moments before, Fleetway Sonic had been reluctant to use the Chaos Emeralds, but the Emeralds of this world didn't seem to be problematic for him as the Emeralds of his universe.
Both hedgehogs recovered, and swooped back into the battle as Sonic dove towards the Black Emerald with Silver, whose powers were intensifying, and Shadow joined him. The super-powered hedgehogs flew over the Eggnikbrid's head, and grabbed the black-colored gemstone. The beast roared, and together, the heroes pulled as hard as they could...
