Chapter 11

Love means giving chances when there are no more chances left to give."

Days Later

"You have going on with life as if nothing is going on here."

"You haven't even asked about Lennon." Lucas said.

Callum sighed looking to his father.

As he lingered in the entryway. Just coming inside from leaving school.

"I figured things changed when the police weren't around and his picture wasn't everywhere."

"I knew i would get informed at some point. So why bother?" Callum questioned.

"You can't be serious. Lennon is you're younger brother. And in all this chaos you seem calm almost relieved." Lucas replied.

"Because i am. I have my own life to be focused on."

"You and mom's life may revolve around him but mine doesn't." Callum replied.

"You're mom and I have always be there for you. B. And Lennon."

"We know what it means when you're kids aren't a priority and we made it a point to never treat any of you that way." Lucas proclaimed.

"The popularity. The status all the surface level things in you're life. Could diseapper for one reason or another and if that happens."

"You're going to want you're family to fall back on." Lucas stated matter of fact.

"You and mom's whole life is this town and the people in it."

"That isn't the case for me." Callum proclaimed. Before going upstairs.

Lucas was frustrated and confused by Callum's behavior. But then again when it came to Lennon. He had always been that way. Disconnected. It reminded Lucas of Victoria and Ted's treatment of Brooke.

...

Brooke turned at the sound of the front door to their bedroom door opening up.

She hadn't been to the store in days. Too wound up and emotionally on edge to do anything but be home.

Beautrice hadn't been going to school. Mainly in her room.

This ordeal was affecting her more then people realized.

...

"I'm going to the office. I'll check in on you and B later on."

"I think the two of you should get out the house for a couple hours."

"Being stuck in you're thoughts and emotional like this isn't good for either of you." Lucas suggested.

"It's been a week. I'm going to pick him up from school and bring him home. I cannot stand it. Being apart from him any longer." Brooke replied.

'He belongs here with us. His family. Space and not talking will solve nothing." Brooke added in.

"What if he doesn't want to come back?" Brooke questioned. Tears welling up in her eyes.

As Lucas held her tightly.

"It's going to be okay." Lucas said. When they pulled apart.

"You don't know that. I thought it would keep him safe."

"But lying to himself and the world just hurts him."

"People like Felix who targeted Peyton and hated Anna his sister for her identity that was out of her control."

"Are everywhere. I don't know how to handle this." Brooke admitted.

"We'll figure it out together. Our family isn't falling apart. It will become stronger."

"I promise you." Lucas said. Leaning over kissing her gently.

Brooke kissed him back.

As Lucas left the bedroom.
