"How are you feeling?" Steve asked as he saw Kara stir.
"Steve? What time is it?"
"Late, you have slept solid for fourteen hours."
"Fourteen?" Kara asked sitting up.
"Easy, you need the rest." Steve said.
"No offence, but you look like you do too."
"Just came off a double shift." He shrugged.
"Where's Alex?" Kara asked looking at the empty bed to the side. "Was it just a dre-"
"Alex is fine, she's back at the apartment with Matt." Steve said before adding. "Your mom, sister and Lena all gave her the all clear. They also gave very strict instructions about keeping you here and feeding you."
"I'm-"
"You've been running in adrenaline. Then you got hurt. You need to rest and eat." He said passing her some muffins.
"Hurt?"
"Giant ant, large weird javelin flying from its undercarriage." Steve listed.
"Oh that. I healed straight away." Kara said placing a hand on her stomach.
"Yeah, but you also got hurt, which Eliza thinks is because you were down to no energy. Hence you need to eat." He said as Kara finally took a muffin.
"I'm sorry." Kara said as she ate.
"For what?"
"The last few weeks I have not been easy to be around."
"Which is understandable seeing what they did to Alex."
"But I shouldn't have taken it out on you." Kara said.
"Did it help?" Steve asked.
"I don't know, maybe a little."
"That's all that matters then."
"No, it's not. And I will make it up to you."
"You don't need to." Steve assured her.
"Yes I do."
"Well for now worry about Alex. As soon as you have had your breakfast I'll take you home."
"Didn't you say I had to stay?"
"Until after you ate."
"What about the chemical Lobo gave me?"
"You are all clear." Steve smiled.
"And Lobo?"
"Gone. No one knows where." Steve said before noticing Kara's frown. "What's wrong?"
"Is Alex really safe?"
"Seems to be."
"Is Alex really angry with me?"
"Why would she be angry?" Steve asked.
"What I said to her-"
"Oh, you mean your sister?" Steve guessed. "She is worried you are angry at her. That's why she isn't here. That and she needed sleep. But once you have eaten we'll get you home and you can talk to both Alexes."

"How are you feeling?" Matt asked when he joined Alex in the kitchen.
"Okay I guess." Alex said putting a bowl of food down for Chewie.
"Well, you need to eat, so why don't I make some breakfast?" He said looking through the cupboards. "Sorry dumb question, there is no food here. Apart from for Chewie. But assuming you don't want dog food, want to eat out or I can run out and get something?" Matt said before noticing Alex had gone pale and was staring into space. "Alex?" He asked. Not getting a response he moved closer to Alex and repeated. "Alex?"
"Huh?" She asked looking up.
"What's wrong? You're trembling. Should I get Eliza?" He asked but instead of answer Alex just hugged him. Not sure what to do he silently held her until she pulled away.
"I'm sorry." She said.
"What's wrong?"
"Ever since I woke up I've had these holes in my memory about how I ended up like that. I just started remembering."
"It was bad?" Matt guessed.
"Yeah." Alex said causing Matt to pull her in for another hug just as the front door opened. Seeing her mother enter with Steve, Alex called.
"Mom!" Alex before going to the door and hugging her.
"How are you feeling?" Kara asked her.
"I'm fine. Just glad you are home."
"Hey Matt, want to come help me buy some breakfast?" Steve asked guessing Kara wanted time alone with Alex.
"Sure, I'll grab Jane." He said going into the spare room and dragging a dazed looking Jane out a couple of minutes later.
"Hi, bye." Jane yawned as the trio left the apartment.
"How are you doing really?" Kara asked her daughter when it was just them.
"I'm fine."
"Really?"
"Pretty sure it was way worse for you." Alex said.
"It's not exactly a competition." Her mother countered. "But I was so scared. I hated seeing you like that."
"I'm fine now." Alex said.
"I'm sorry you had to go through all of that." Kara said.
"It wasn't your fault."
"You were targeted because of me." Kara reminded her.
"Doesn't make it your fault." Alex said before asking. "How are you doing?"
"Me? I wasn't the one in a coma."
"No, you were the one who didn't eat or sleep for three weeks."
"Who told you that?" Kara asked her.
"Everyone."
"Is that why you joined the fight?"
"In part, but I saw what was happening and I didn't want you to do something you'd regret. Plus I thought I could help. And I did."
"You did." Kara said. "You almost gave me a heart attack. But you did help. That said-"
"Don't worry it was a one time thing."
"It was? Why?"
"I'm not ready. I can't do what you do."
"You could if you wanted to." Kara said. "But whatever you do I am proud of you. Besides being a hero isn't all it is cracked up to be. People pay the price."
"So you're not angry?"
"Of course I am angry. You nearly died. They put you in a coma, I thought I was going to lose you."
"I meant with me." Alex said. "For transporting in there."
"No. I am angry at myself for forcing you into that position. I'm angry and not seeing what was happening. I'm angry that you were targeted." Kara said. "And angry at letting myself be manipulated by Lobo. I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to apologise for." Her daughter said.
"My one job is to protect you and I failed."
"No you didn't. I'm here and I am okay."
"Are you really?" Kara asked.
"I've started to remember what happened." Alex confessed causing Kara to pull her in for another hug. "It hurt so much and I was so scared when I couldn't breathe, everywhere burned." Alex said after a minute.
"I know. And I wish I could have taken that pain away." Kara said holding her tightly. After a few silent minutes Alex pulled away and asked.
"Can we go away for a few days. Just us?"
"Of course we can. Where did you want to go?"
"Argo."
"Argo? You don't like Argo." Kara said confused.
"I like Alura." Alex countered.

"Not that I don't like seeing you, but don't you have your own house?" The older Alex said to her daughter.
"More food here. And here is closer to the lab. I didn't want to drive last night. Plus if I am here I can look after you."
"You don't need to."
"Pretty sure I do." Her daughter said as the doorbell rang. "I'll get it." She added moving to the hallway. As she opened the front door she saw her aunt.
"You know the door opens for you?" The young Kara asked before hugging her aunt. "You okay?"
"Yeah, is your mom in?"
"Kitchen." The younger Kara said. "I'll go over and see Alex." She added, guessing the sisters needed to talk.
"Thanks." Kara said before walking to the kitchen.
"Kara? How are you feeling?" Alex asked as her sister entered the kitchen.
"Much better." Kara said before adding. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said."
"You had every right to be angry. I should have told you about the device, for that I'm sorry. But I am not sorry about stopping you using it."
"I still shouldn't have snapped at you. I know you were trying to help."
"You had barely eaten or slept for days. Alex wasn't getting better. It's a miracle you didn't snap sooner."
"The people I attacked-"
"No one died." Alex assured her.
"Are they talking?"
"Not yet."
"This isn't over is it? They want me gone and they are wiling to use Alex."
"We will stop them. We have leads and we will figure out who is behind it." Her sister assured her.
"I can't do this anymore."
"This?"
"Being Supergirl. I'm done. I won't risk Alex."
