Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Old and New Republics. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I do not own Star Wars; Lucas Arts and a few others do.
Cal looked at the temple from the spire. He thought of himself before he had a lot more to try and think of what was growing on his mind.
They had a lot of different ideas now… He was a soldier when he had been too much for now.
The Jedi were divided right at the time, his entire group was busy fighting for now at the end of the day.
Right now? The Jedi was all too distracted and it appeared he had been gifted a mission. If anything? He was at least happy to have a new friend and new allies in the war with the empire.
(With Avar and Sask)
"Oh, Master Kriss, it is a delight to see you!" Zee said as Sask snorted. "And you, Master Devr," Zee said as Sask hummed.
"The republic is dead… As I told you if we were not willing to fight for it? It was bound to die." Sask stated, crossing his arms. "We were at war and right now? We were supposed to be fighting, yet? There was no strategy." Sask stated as Avar hummed.
"You came from the era of war for the republic when it comes down to it," Avar stated before she sighed to herself.
They had a lot more to try and think of it all when Avar looked at her drink. She could sense pain across the world… ALL over the world, across where they were.
It cut her like a knife right now at the end of the rotation, they had work to do, and as a soldier? She knew they would continue fighting.
"So, your friend is a Jedi Knight and you expect him to be able to beat dozens of well-trained raiders?" Sask asked, raising an eyebrow. "Rule one of war? You never commit without certainty and full measure of those involved." Sask stated as Avar hummed.
That was to be fair, something about it all was part of their best-laid plans.
That and she knew that Sask was a soldier more than a Jedi, even in his attire which was armor over a short little brown robe once more. They had a lot more to try and think of a plan when it was said and done, ready to fight once again.
Sask sighed and rubbed at his hair as he thought of what was growing on his mind. His brain still felt fuzzy, he still refused to understand what was occurring right now as he pondered, and relaxed once more.
The idea of an enemy who had taken the Jedi down bothered him. The last time the Jedi had died out? They took a while to regroup and without a Jedi like Revan? They had little in the way of leadership, they would need to improvise when it was said and done.
"We should go find Cal. We need to get work done… And if anything? They might cause reinforcements to come." Sask stated before he sighed to himself.
(With Cal)
Cal hummed, clashing blades with the raider lieutenant. Their lightsaber buzzed as they continued to advance upon the Jedi knight, Cal backflipped into the air, landing on the ruins.
The Jedi Knight watched as the raider lieutenant advanced upon them, firing a barrage from their gauntlet which Cal deflected with his lightsaber.
"Cal, did you find the temple yet?" Cal heard from his commlink as he leaped downwards, spinning his saber at the raider.
"Yeah, it is crawling with raiders… The entire area is." Cal heard before he looked to the side.
There was something to deal with more than just the raiders and Cal knew it, he knew also that he could not take his eyes off the fight.
"We are on our way… Just stay there." Avar stated before Sask hummed.
"Why do I hear another lightsaber? Is there a Sith there? You told me the raiders were just a group of thugs with droids, not once did you say a Sith was involved." Avar stated.
There were a few seconds of silence, too much had been too long and too done. They had a lot more left to deal with, for now, a lot of different details.
The idea of something like this was too much to distract it for now. He had a lot more to try and think of what was growing on his mind as he cracked his fingers.
(With Avar and Sask)
Avar sighed and looked as she thought of the next move. The raiders were an army and unlike her? She had ZERO soldiers beyond Cal and Sask who were both Jedi who could and should have been able to fight themselves.
Granted? According to Cal? Rebels were willing to fight with them at the end of the day. Something within her told her that they could not once distract themselves now.
He had a lot of different questions… So did Avar as both were to fight, both would continue to distract themselves.
He had a lot of different ideas now as he cracked a few seconds later and then thought once more. They had a lot more to try and understand.
Sask was silent, tired… The bacta had taken a while to wear off, he had a lot of different ideas.
None of these ideas helped him, none of them aided his mind, right now? All he wished to do was relax and relax properly.
Then again? Sask knew better, he knew as a soldier? They would fight, they would continue to fight and even some people would continue fighting now. It was all an issue.
The problem within him, the problem he did not wish upon himself? It was growing, it was growing WAY more than the Jedi could grasp.
Sask thought of what was growing on his mind… He had plenty of ideas once more.
They had a lot more to this, something about this new war was pushing the Jedi Knight.
"He knew we were going to find the temple," Sask stated as they reached outside. "If Dagan wanted the compass? He would have gotten it himself; he KNEW Cal would head to the temple." Sask stated before he sighed.
Avar blinked as she realized that Sask was correct. Dagan would have known about the temple if he wanted. He could have gotten it or sent Rayvis to get it. Since he did not? That meant there was something else drawing Dagan to focus on.
Avar turned and rushed towards the location of the temple. Sask shook his head and slowly flipped the hood of his cloak up, Avar had little idea about how to fight a war which she knew was why she woke him up.
Part of Sask wished Revan was here. If nothing else? There was work left to deal with and he had made the Prodigal Knight a promise centuries ago.
(With Cal)
Cal panted as he and the lightsaber-wielding raider continued to clash. They were strong, fast… Yet they lacked the force.
It seemed they made up for this by use of a whipcord launcher they were using well and grenades. They twirled the double-bladed lightsaber as Cal leaped backward, putting more distance between them.
The raider slashed at him and Cal retreated, tossing himself backward. They had a LOT more soldiers than him and way more resources than the Jedi Knight.
But a Jedi Knight did not always need such things to help… Cal lifted a hand, willing stone behind him to fly up which he tossed at the raider.
They turned, slashing, and cutting at the stone missiles… Which was ALL Cal needed to stab through the raider, impaling them through the chest.
Cal was silent, looking at the dozen or so raiders he had fought. There was barely any security but it seemed to be something that he had trouble with.
They were prepared for war at least. Cal slowly started to enter the temple as he put away his lightsaber, tired and eager to go back to the village.
Right now? There was a compass to find, he had a lot of different ideas. There was another moment before he looked once more to the sky.
"Cal? Have you reached the temple yet? We are almost there." Avar stated as Cal sighed.
"I was. There was a raider with a lightsaber, it seems Rayvis was building an army up." Cal stated as Avar hummed.
"Rayvis always wanted a war to remember," Avar stated to which they thought about it all.
There were a lot of different details when it came down to it. They had a lot of different things to debate sooner or later, they had a lot of details he did not know about at all.
They had a LOT of ideas to distract themselves with for now. it did not make sense, it would never.
It just did not work out well. Those ideas were going to hurt damn well beyond what was occurring now.
"Guys? Did you say you were coming? There are raiders everywhere." Cal said as he leaped down.
"Then Dagan must have known… It is not safe." Avar said as Sask snorted.
"Of course, it isn't," Sask stated, far beyond annoyed. "If Dagan knew where the temple was? He would not waste time by sending the hired help. If he is strong enough to defeat you all? He is strong enough to gather things." Sask stated before he sighed to himself.
There were a few seconds of silence as he paused, Cal hummed and dropped downwards towards the temple.
They were silent, too distracted by all when it came crashing down at the end of the day. Avar stayed silent and distracted, too unable to do something like this now.
Cal dropped down at the time, looking to the side as he walked forward and deeper and deeper into the temple. The bodies of soldiers around him told the Jedi Knight that he would be dealing with a monstrous enemy.
They had something else to deal with, something within the Jedi was hurt, angry, and annoyed.
They were all too eager now to find that compass. The raiders were hunting, grasping towards the compass like hungry animals.
There were the sounds of squawking as Cal wondered inside, they were almost here now. Perhaps when they were here? They would be able to relax, understanding where the enemy stood and what they were fighting against.
There were plenty of different details left to distract themselves for now.
It was going to be dealt with for now, he had a lot more left to dwell upon when they got where they ended up getting there.
Then again? Cal guessed the Jedi were still wiped out either way. It felt like they were to be doing something stronger than what they were to be doing.
"The last temple was better at defense than this… You Jedi after me have learned nothing about fighting a real war." They heard as he sighed, rolling his eyes.
There was silence after this. They had a lot of different problems when it was said and done as he cracked his fingers and looked to the side. He had a lot of regrets, and ideas from long ago…. Which he could not wait to deal with.
Something like this? The pain? The doubt? It hit hard, it hit through him in ways he could not stomach, this place harbored doubts from both the past and present and it sickened him to no damn end, it hit like a rock to the gut.
That much alone was going to hit Cal harder than any gun, any blaster, any sword or blade or hammer. It was just him remembering what he had failed to do, what he would spend time dealing with as a Jedi right now.
Both were tired more than usual.
