"All right, class," Ms. B turned to her students. "Tonight's homework is what are your future plans?" Adrien heard Marinette giggle on the seat above him. "Easy, I've known what I wanted to do since I was five."
Adrien hoisted his bag onto his shoulder, smiling at his girlfriend. He loved supporting Marinette's work as a designer, but he couldn't help feeling slightly envious too. He painted on a smile as Marinette took his hand. "Ready to go?" she asked, and he nodded.
Adrien knew he had to let go of these feelings for Marinette as wonderful as a Ladybug she was, hadn't chosen that path. Only Ladybug could capture and purify akuma, and Adrien knew it was no easy feat. Sure, being Cat Noir looked like a fun and playful time, but these were people's lives they were protecting, as well as the others.
He was still deep in thought when they sat down in the Dupain-Cheng kitchen with their after school snack. "Okay, what's going on?" Marinette asked, handing him is plate of cheese and crackers. "Usually your an open book and I can read your thoughts, but I can't get a read on you."
Adrien smiled and blushed, taking a drink of apple juice. "Oh, it's this assignment. Your so lucky, Princess. How many kids know what they want to do for a career at five?" "Not many I assume. But Adrien, your so talented! Whatever you decide to do, you'll do great." Adrien sighed. "But how do you know, when most of your life has been chosen for you?" "Ooof, weighty question."
"I mean, I do like modeling and…." Adrien paused, running a hand through his blonde hair as Marinette stared at him. "I thought you hated modeling." "Princess, if you asked me to model this very moment, I would say yes." Marinette giggled. "Great, how are you at feather boas?" Knowing her boyfriend's allergies to feathers. "It wasn't the modeling, love," Adrien went back to being serious, "it was when Father and I drifted apart, and he expected me to the perfect obedient son."
He looked down at the tabletop. "I just a family with you someday, here in Paris or on a small island like we've dreamed of." "So put that down. And before I have any kids or hamsters, I'm hogging you to myself for awhile." Adrien laughed.
"Thanks, honey." "Anytime," she slid off her stool, surprised when Adrien caught in a hug. "Its what partners and lovers do."
