In... Out...
Emily tried to calm herself down as she looked over herself in the mirror. She had been fiddling with herself for easily an hour and a half, trying to get jewelry just right, her hair, and going back and forth between weather or not her dress made her look like a harlot. It was the one she had decided on with Charlie in the boutique earlier. A short -stopping just above the knees- tight fitting, sky blue dress, with a small diamond of fabric missing in the stomach to expose a suggestive portion of her midriff. The chest dove deeply and would expose a majority of her cleavage to the air if one: she had a chest big enough to have any in the first place. And two: there was not an opaque portion of white lace that acted as a paper thin barrier over the region. The trims of the dress had bits of blue lace around them, and the dress lacked any arms. The back of the dress was almost non-existent, leaving plenty of room for her hair, but not being too indecent, as it was mostly covered by her hair.
Emily liked the dress. And she also liked the way it looked on her. It was just her first time wearing anything other than her chaste heavenly attire, and it was a very substantial change.
As for jewelry, she had some thing little white and silver bracelets on her wrists, and on her neck, a featureless choker that could be compared to Vaggie's.
Wait... what if Vaggie saw that? Would she think she was trying to copy her? Would she think that was weird!?
In.. Out...
Emily had also tied the whole of her long, fluffy hair up into into a high, large, neat-ish bun (neat-ish, as her hair was generally an impossible beast to tame). Changing her hair slightly was one of the few acts of 'personalization' she did to herself when in heaven. Mostly just to keep it out of her eyes while she filled out paperwork. On her feet were her old ballet flats. The only article that could be salvaged from her old attire after she dropped, bloody and broken, at Charlie and Vaggie's door. She could never think of a true way to repay them for all they had done for her.
And now, she was going on a date with them.
Charlie had decided on a queit, low-key restaurant (at least, Emily assumed, as low key as a restaurant could be in Hell) located not too far downtown. Apparently, her and Vaggie had been there a good few times because they liked the atmosphere, and the food was decent. And Emily liked the idea of low-key. Especially after the events earlier that day.
In... Out...
'TAP TAP TAP'
The knock at her room's door was not overly rough or loud, but in her pensive state, it was still more than enough to cause the angel to jump
Emily opened the bathroom door, shyly, poking her head out. "Hello?"
"Hi, Emmy, it's Charlieee," the woman acroos the door singsonged, eliciting a smile from the freckled angel.
"And Vaggie," the other women outside added. Emily giggled at that.
"We were just wondering how you were! You've been in their a while... it's getting kinda late."
Emily pouted and looked back in the mirror, before poking back out the bathroom door."Um... I guess I'm fine... It's just..." she sighed. "I've never... dressed myself before..." She blushed to herself, not lost on the potential hilarity of the statement to anyone that wasn't of her experience.
Vaggie spoke up. "Hey, hun, back when I was an excorcist, a sense of 'style' wasn't really part of the job description." She chuckled dryly to herself. "I get what it's like... maybe, yknow, not the same way, but, I know what it's like to explore parts of yourself you never got to before." It wasn't visible to Emily, but Vaggie gave her girlfriend a whistful, golden-cheeked look as she finished.
Emily sighed. Then gave a meek smile. "Thank, Vaggie... that... helps."
"I'm sure you'll look amazing in anything you pick!" Charlie cheered. Emily laughed enough she had to wipe some wetness from the corner of her eye.
"Thank you both. I'm coming out..." Emily said, slowly approching the door.
In... Out...
She opened the door. Vaggie was stood, dressed in a tasteful, black, though short dress, her usual red bow subbed for a nice deep purple one. Charlie was in a short sleeve button-up, not too unlike the one she wore under her blazer on the usual, but this one was red, and she had paired it with a black tie -not a bowtie tie, a real one- and her usual slacks and suspenders. Emily blushed at the two beautiful women. But her expression was nothing near the dumbstruck looks of either of them.
"...Holy shit..." Vaggie mumbled. Emily was mortified.
"O-oh, is it that bad!?! Oh, my, I'm sorry, oh, gosh..." Emily desperately attempted to cover her, 'indecency,' with her arms, to no avail. "I knew this dress was too much I-"
"You're beautiful..." Charlie muttered whistfully. Emily froze, and sighed.
"Th... thank you..." She still used a hand to awkwardly cover her midriff, and another to shield her chest, feeling embarassed.
"She's right, Emily, you look... amazing..." Vaggie said, her cheeks rich with golden. Emily's were, too.
"Well... Thanks, you two... Y-you don't think it's toooo..." She gestured to herself. "Showy?"
"At the end of the day," Charlie said, "that's up to you, and what you're comfy with. I can personally say, though, we think you look amazinggggg." She drew out the last word and punctuated with a pump of her eyebrow. Emily laughed.
"W-well, I feel really nice... it's comfy, and... I think I look... nice... too..." Emily was beyond flustered.
Vaggie cleared her throat. "So," she said, "I suppose we should probably get going then." Charlie beamed widely in agreement, and a still very warm-faced Emily nodded with a shy smile.
Charlie bolted down the stairs like a golden retriever that had just eaten a packet full of sugar. She waved energetically at Alastor, who was sipping a cup of tea in the parlor. "We're going out!! Can you handle things while we're gone?!"
Alastor, skillfully balancing his tea on its dish in one hand, put the other to his chest and laughed. "Oh, of course, my dear! No trouble at all for me. Now, you three run along now." Charlie beamed at him, and ran towards the outside where the limo would be, unconcious of the Angel Dust who had just come threw the front door, moderately disheveled from a long day with his egregiously dispicable employer.
Angel gave the hyped up princess a wide-eyed look as she bolted past to her vehicle, almost bumping into him. Then he looked back into the hotel, seeing Vaggie, out of breath and chasing to keep up with her and Emily daintily taking her time as she had only just reached the bottom of the stairs, giggling at the antics of the other two girls ahead her. Angel smirked.
"Y'all are pretty dolled up, where are you off to?"
Emily smiled at him warmly, and Vaggie rolled her eyes.
"Hi angel!" The perkier Angel said, "I'm going on a date with Vaggie and Charlie tonight!!"
"Damn, right tonight? They wasted no time on you, eh?" He laughed, and Emily snickered as well.
"I suppose not. I'm not sure, but I think they may like me!" Angel laughed at that remark.
"Everyone else is sure toots! Helluva an outfit, by the way. Really dressing to impress tonight, huh?"
"Y-yeah," Emily blushed. "They said they liked it, but, like, I look okay, right?"
"You look fucking fantastic, dollface! You're gonna knock 'em dead. He went to the girl, who had now finally reached the doorway and put an almost brotherly arm on her shoulder, and squeezed. "Now, I am gonna go get a fuckin' drink, I need one sfter today. You have fun with those two though, 'kay?" Angel said with a grin as he headed toward the bar. Wmily nodded eagerly in return.
"I will! Thank you so much, Angel!"
"Don't sweat it, Em!"
Vaggie gawked at the scene she had just watched unfold. Emily looked to her, and quirked a brow.
"What?"
"Since when are you two so close?" She couldn't but smile as she spoke, but it still was far from unapparent to her how bizzare what she just witnessed was. "Have you been... talking about us??" Emily put a hand to her mouth and snickered.
"I dunno, he's sweet. And easy to talk to!" She cleared her throat, and blushed. "But, um... yes, a little..."
Vaggie rolled her eyes. "I suppose that's understandable." In a very gentle-ladyly way, she gestured out the door for her date. "After you, missy." Emily blushed and giggled.
"Thank you, m'lady." She gave a gentle bow.
The three joked and giggled and flirted all the drive to the restaurant. A particularly left field quip from Charlie made Emily laugh so hard she snorted, and Charlie refused to let it go, egging her about how, 'cute,' it was. She was embarassed, but... in a good way?
As the three got out of the limo, Charlie chivalrously helped Em out and to her feet, and upon her getting out of the limo while managaing to preserve her decency in her short, tight dress, the three all locked there hands together, and entered, doing their bests to avoid clogging up space or knocking into anybody. Emily's face was dusted with gold the whole way, surrounded by the two kind, beautiful women she was with that day.
The restaurant inside was tastefully decorated, but simple. The floor plan was petite, but their were very few customers and it was nice and calm.
"Table for three!" Charlie beamed to the short, chubby, lady stewardess, who smirked and raised a brow.
"My my my. Making a collection now, are we princess?" She quiped. Charlie blushed and giggled embarassedly.
"Sammmm!!!!" Charlie whined. 'Sam' just laughed.
"Let me show you and your entourage to your table."
Charlie chuckled. "Thank youuu."
Charlie followed Sam, and led her 'entourage' to a booth table in the corner of the restaurant.
"I'll be right back with some menus or you three ladies," Sam sed before leaving to fetch said things, Charlie not allowing her to get away without another shouted, "thank you!!" Both angels chuckled at her.
Vaggie turned to Emily. "I hope you're okay with American food, Em, I realize we haven't really asked you what your preferences are..."
"It's fine! I tend to like most things." She giggled. "Food is so good... but I do usually eat on the lighter side... so I guess kinda Mediterranean and Japanese, I love sushi... oh! Hawaiian BBQ is good!" Emily giggled again. "Gosh, it's weird being hungry. I didn't use to think that much about eating. I mean, it's nice and all, but food isn't essential in heaven, of course..."
Charlie giggled. "Well, assuming everything goes wellll, and it seems like it will, you get to choose next time, Emmy." The implication there would be a, 'next time,' was more than enough to make the seraphim blush.
She chuckled, shyly. "Eheh, well, thank you, Charlie." Emily looked to her lap and twiddled her thumbs. "So... now that constructions done, w-when do you think the hotel's grand reopening will be?"
"Probably in the next two days!!" Charlie cheered.
"We want to have an extra day to work on setting a little party with our guests in the hope it'll attract some new guests. Plus it'll give us some time to set up a therapy docket for the day after." Vaggie explained. Charlie gave a knod in confirmation.
"I think that's a wonderful idea!" Emily smiled. "I was just... well, I was also curious if there was, you know... anyway I could help out..." Charlie gave her a gentle smile.
"Absolutely, Emmy! We could definitely use some more... ehem, 'staff,' especially with the remodeling. Everything is so much bigger..." Charlie swallowed and looked to the side, clearly anxious about how everything was going to go.
"It's gonna go great, babe, I'm sure of it," Vaggie reassured. Charlie gave her an earnest but slightly tense smile. "Let's not focus on work right now. Let's talk a little about you, Emily." The seraphim gulped.
"S-sorry, of course! A- ask away!" Emily laughed. "I'm not super used to telling people about myself."
"Well, y'know... what do you like to do for fun!?" Charlie asked cheerfully, happy for the change of subject, but alwo curious about the pretty little angel across the table from her.
Emily smiled, opening her mouth to speak before realizing... there was nothing to say. "I don't... k-know..." She looked kind of saddened. "I... I never have really had the chance to do things for myself... I was always either working paperwork or showing a new soul around heaven... " Emily gulped. "Wow, I... have no idea how to process that. D-does doodling on loosleaf while Sera tried to lecture me count?" Emily chuckled nervously. Vaggie gave her an understanding smile.
"I get that. When I was... 'employed...' in heaven... I didn't give much time to myself either. I learned the most about myself when I was away from it." Vaggie reached across the table and wrapped her hands over one of Emily's. "I'm sure you'll be able to figure some stuff out." Emily sighed.
"I hope you're right." Emily smiled softly. "I mean, sometimes I'd go to the zoo in my rare freetime, I guess. I- I like animals! And of course, I'd eat when I got the chance... A- and I like to sing!" Charlie smiled at her and clapped.
"There you go, those are some things!"
Vaggie grinned and nodded.
"A- and... I did like my job as the other seraphim... it felt good to help the lost and confused feel at home and joyful... even though it was a... hard thing to do the past few weeks," Emily said with a sad smile. Charlie reached over and squeezed her hand.
"Well then, Emily. You're gonna fit right in! Of course," Charlie added with a giggle, "It looks like you already are!"
Emily smiled warmly, and Charlie returned the expression with her own sun-like brightness. Vaggie gave her own smile at the two girls. A whistful one.
"You... you do so much good, Charlie... Vaggie... Even with everything that's happened... I'm glad, at least, I get to be here witness to that, and to help more... tangibly..." She sighed, shaking off any feelings of regret to focus on the two woman who were now both holding one of her hands in the now.
"And we're happy to have you, Emily," Vaggie said, warmly. Emily blushed.
"Thank you."
"Here are your menus, girls!" An eager Sam said with a grin. "Sorry for the wait!"
Charlie gleamed at her. "No problem, Samantha, thank you so much!!"
Emily took the thick folded paper and her eyes immediately shot wider. She was surprised to see there were so many options. "Holy sssshhh... sugar..." She brothe. Vaggie chuckled.
"What's up, hun?"
Emily gestured to the page. "Th-there's just... so many options... oh my gosh, I think I'm gonna need some time."
"We've got all the time in the world, Em!" Charlie beamed. And Emily beamed back.
"Mmm, my stomach hurts..." Emily moaned, gently massaging the afformentioned organ. Vaggie sighed.
"We tried telling you to slow down, sweetie."
"Well- I- Yeah!!!" Emily gestured emphatically with exaggerated exasperation. "A- and I triedddd, but it tasted so gooooodd." She groaned as her over-exuberance had irritated the contents of her stomach. "Ow..."
"This really is Hell..." she moaned. "Why does food have to taste so good and then you get punished for it!?"
Charlie laughed. "I hear that's what life on Earth is like too."
Emily gave empathetic puppy dog eyes to the billions of un-pressent souls who had spent their whole lives and maybe afterlives suffering of the bane of indigestion. "I know," she sighed. "It's just awful... Oh!" She suddenly got excited. "Do you think more of those chalky-medicine things would help this!?"
Vaggie shook her head. "No, unfortunately this is more of a... rest it off kind of thing. Sorry, hun."
"And maybeeee," Charlie began with an expression painting the recollection of past experiences, "we should really be keeping those away from you unless you really need them..."
Emily gave an over exaggerated scough. "Um, I am an adult, thank you very much!" She crossed her arms, and pouted with a grumble. "Not my fault they taste so good..."
Vaggie mouthed at Charlie, 'they really don't though.' Charlie shrugged, a smirk on her face but contained in an expression that hid in no way her own share of confussion.
After getting it over with her pouty act, Emily earnestly smiled at both of the other women.
"Honestly though... thank you two so much for taking me out tonight... I had a wonderful time." She chuckled lightly. "Aside from the stomach ache."
Charlie giggled. "Of course, Emily!" Suddenly her expression shifted from the hyper-expressive lazerbeam of brightness it so often was and became something more sweet and... vulnerable. "I had a good time too... honestly, this was initally all Vaggie's idea." She chuckled softly. "And of course I was far from opposed. I even was a little excited myself!" She looked down to her lap for a second before swallowing. "But... I'm grateful she... planted the seed for this."
Suddenly to both Emily and Vaggie's surprise, Charlie had leant over in her seat and wrapped her arms around Emily's neck, planting a firm and deceivingly long kiss to her cheek. Emily's face had changed entirely from grey to rich gold and her mouth seemed to stumble as it tried to figure words.
"And now..." Charlie concluded her previous thought, "I think you're starting to get me to fall for you, too..."
Emily gulped. "U- um..." Emily smiled shyly, her eyes the size of the oversized plates at the diner they were just in. "Wowww..."
"I- I'm-" Charlie stumbled, "I'm so sorry! Was that too much? Shit... I-"
"No!" Emily almost yelled, stopping the princess in her tracks. "S-sorry... N-no, it... I liked it..." Emily gulped again. "Kind of... A lot... Can... can you do that again?"
"No, she can't," Vaggie said sternly before crawling too her knees, a task only possible because the limo had no seatbelts (though it probably should have) and only necessary because the woman was too short to reach the other angel's freckled cheek otherwise. She proceeded to plant a long kiss of similair intesity to Charlie's, though further pulling Emily into it by using a hand to push her into her lips by the other side of her head. She used her remaining hand to steady herself.
Vaggie pulled away and gave a sly smirk. "Because I didn't even get a turn yet."
Emily was frozen with a dumb, lovestruck grin plastered across her face. "... Holy... crabapples..."
"Aaah, okay, cool!" Charlie grinned. "Does this mean I get to go again!?"
The limo was stopped at the hotel, but non of its passengers had made the move to get out yet. And this was because one of its passengers was completely frozen in the middle rear seat, cheeks flushed thoroughly with golden-blood, and a wide, doofy grin cracking her face in two.
Vaggie snapped her fingers next to Emily's ear with a worried look.
"Oh my god, did we break her??" Charlie said with a nervous chuckle.
"I..." Vaggie shrugged. "Maybe? I mean, she's never even dated anyone before, this was probably a lot for her."
"I only kissed her, like, 5 times," Charlie said with a quirked lip.
"And compared to a..." Vaggie struggled to crunch numbers in her head before electing not to assume, "howerver many hundreds of years old she is of zero romantic relations with anyone, that is a shit ton. Besides, that's also a times two, because I'm there."
Charlie smirked at her. "Plus 1. You gave the kiss that broke her." Vaggie cleared her throat.
"I'd rather... not be the one responsible for breaking our new girlfriend," she glared off into nothingness.
"Girlfriend, huh?" Charlie asked with a smile, but raised brows.
Suddenly, in between the two, the frozen angel sucked in a massive breath and squealed. "WHAT!?" She stopped as both women looked at her with wide eyes. Then she turned to Vaggie.
"Girlfriend, huh?"
Vaggie had to contain herself from smirking at just how similair the two other women looked right now. She cleared her throat, and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"S-sorry, shit... I should have... probably ran that by Charlie first. Excuse me."
Charlie gave her a gentle smile, before looking at her new angel.
"I think I can be okay with that."
As the swoony angel was led into the hotel parlor by her partners, Angel smirked at the three.
"So, it went well then?" He said.
"I HAVE GIRLFRIENDS!!!" Emily shouted to him, bouncing with giddiness as her wings fluttered behind her as if wishing the could carry her a good 30 feet off the ground and illiciting a laugh from him, a giggle from Charlie, and a snicker from Vaggie. She blushed, before clearing her throat. "S- sorry, I'm a little excited."
Charlie laughed. "Nooo, but I think it's cute!" Emily turned more golden.
"Th- thank you..."
Angel came over to the three laughing, before, to Charlie and Vaggie's surprise, plopping both of his hands on Emily's shoulders.
"You have to tell me absolutely everything later, sparing no detail, got it??" He whispered. Emily grinned, and nodded. Satisfied, Angel walked away with a smirk.
"You three have fun fuckin' tonight!!" He went to the parlor couch and began giggling with Husk. Well, rather, he was doing the giggling, and Husk was smiling and nodding.
Emily was broken again.
"Emmy?" Charlie said, hugging her arm worriedly. Vaggie sighed, ussuring the girl along with an arm.
"C'mon, missy, let's get you to bed." She turned to Angel and shouted, "where she will go, by herself, and sleep!! Because it's our first date and we're TAKING IT SLOW."
Charlie cleared her throat and turned to Vaggie. "I meaaannn... We did already call her our girlfriend."
"I- You-" Vaggie pinched her nose. "Baby, don't agree with him in front of me." Charlie snickered as the two led the dazed angel to her room.
Emily had come to sometime during the journey to her room, and the other girls decided not to refresh her memory on the brazen sex joke Angel had shot off to her. At the very least, it was chaste for him.
The three women had finally arrived together to the door of Emily's room.
"Goodnight, Emmy," Charlie said with a soft face. She blushed a little before clearing her throat. "Is it okay if I kiss your cheek?" Emily nodded vigorously, pumping her hands into little fists as if to help conduct her anticipation. Charlie giggled, and gave the girl a peck, which caused her to giggle too.
"Goodnight, sweetie," Vaggie said. "It okay if I give you a peck, too?" Another eager nod. Vaggie chuckled, and beckoned with her hands. "You're gonna need to come down here a little for me, babe." Emily gave a little, 'oh,' and bowed slightly. Vaggie still had to tiptoe to meet her cheek. But Emily blushed and sighed nonetheless.
"Goodnight you two," Emily said. She sighed, whistfully. "Tonight was just... incredible. Thanks for treating me."
"Of course, Emmy! You're... well, you're very much worth it." Charlie chuckled. Emily gave her a soft smile and put a hand to her heart as if to feel the warmth coming from it.
"You're so sweet, both of you." She almost turned to her door before stopping. "O-oh!" She gulped, nervously. "One more thing."
Emily beant down and pressed a messy, but charming nonetheless kiss to Vaggie's cheek, before hopping back up and doing the same to Charlie's. She pulled away to see both girls smiling at her, and pressed her hands to her own warm cheeks with a goofy smile.
"Okay! N-now goodnight..." Both other girls laughed.
"Night, Emmy." Charlie said simply, a wamr look on her face.
Emily kept her hand to her heart as she entered her room, closing the door behind her and sliding down it, sitting on the ground whistfully.
It was the dead of the night, and Emily was snug in her bed. At least she was. Until she heard a frantic knocking on her door that startle her awake. The person on the other side did not wait for a response and threw the door open shortly after: a very disheveled Vaggie in her nightgown. Her voice was tinged with terror.
"Emily. You need to see you in our bedroom now!"
