Team RWVBY

Chapter 15

Everything was perfect at the Schnee manor. At least to any outsider looking in would think that. On the inside Weiss forced a daintily smile as she listened in to one of her father's meetings.

Her whole break had been this; joining him in his meetings, attending gala's just to make appearances, dinners and dances with people she didn't know. She hadn't even seen her mother since she'd been back and she didn't know if that was good or bad. Whitley had been insufferable, whining about how it wasn't him joining along. She dreaded the fact that might have been what she sounded like to her team when she arrived at Beacon.

Her father had insisted she'd sit in on all these meetings, to help prepare her for the. Future. A future that while at once appealed brightly to her, was starting to lose its luster.

"That is all, meeting adjourned." Jacques Schnee called out. Weiss waited as board members and partners slowly filed out of her father's office, waiting her turn so she could return to her room. With them gone, she turned towards the door.

"Weiss, stay a moment." She barely had moved an inch and it looked like she'd have to stay a bit longer.

"Yes, father?" She asked, turning towards him.

"I heard about the incident in Vale, regarding a large shipment of dust being brought in from Atlas." Weiss watched her father stand up to look out the window of his office to the courtyard below. "I also heard that you were involved." He added, a question was hidden in there.

"My team, more than me father. I only arrived when the incident was already over." Weiss answered honestly.

"I see. Well, it makes no difference, you were seen there and to have a Schnee defend its companies' property as such paints us in a better light." Weiss internally was rolling her eyes. "I also have been made aware that your team in Beacon is led by someone else?" Jacques asked.

"That is correct." Weiss knew what was coming next.

"A Schnee always leads." Her father coldly reminded her. Weiss remembered her talk with Professor Port.

"If I was made team leader, I would not have learned anything. Our leader, though at first, I thought so be immature and unexperienced, has proven to be very capable and inspiring." Weiss said imaging Ruby tackling her to the ground for singing her praise.

"So be it. Just know this; as Heiress to the SDC your actions reflect on this company. Although I've agreed to go along with this farce for now, I shall be watching very closely." Jacques warned her.

Weiss with a strained smile nodded and said, "Yes father."

"That is all." He waved her off signaling she could leave.

Outside the door Weiss let out a sigh of relief and slumped her shoulders. At least it was over for now. Treading the quiet and empty halls of the Schnee Manor back to her room, she could only imagine her team was probably doing something fun right now.

Yaanggg, are you almost done?" Ruby asked bored out of her mind. The two sisters were in their shared room; Yang was currently sat at her vanity applying makeup, while Ruby was sat waiting on her bed.

Just a sec, Rubes." Yang grabbed one of her lipsticks.

"We're just going to the arcade you know?" Ruby didn't get why all the effort.

"A lady never knows when they should look their best and should always be prepared." Yang said in a posh accent.

Ruby snickered. "You sound like Weiss." Yang joined in on the snickering before looking back at the mirror.

"Aaaaaaaaaand, done!" Yang said as she gave herself one final look over in the mirror.

The two sisters made their way downstairs; their father was sitting on the couch watching tv, Zwei, the lovable corgi was sitting in his lap.

"Hey girls, you heading out to the arcade?" Their father asked turning his head to look at his daughters. "Woah, look at you Yang! Any particular reason you getting all glammed up?" Tai teased his eldest daughter.

Ever since the movies he had been acting slightly different, especially when Yang had let it slip that she had been texting Cass outside of their teams group chat. The teasing made her feel conflicted.

On first hand it was embarrassing to be teased by her dad like that but on a positive side he seemed accepting. In there lies part of the problem though. He was accepting because he still thought Cass was a girl and they had yet to correct him. Yang guess she should be glad that if she ever did bring a girl home her dad wouldn't be upset. Couldn't say that about every parent.

Ruby was still keeping as she promised. It confused Yang at first. She had taken part in dads teasing, joining in on the laughs. Maybe that's why she agreed or maybe she wanted to hold it as leverage the next time she wanted something from her so she couldn't deny.

Whatever the case may be. Yang would power through as always. She had still been trying to figure out what these feelings were. Was it just a passing crush like Jaune had with Weiss, or was it something more? Today she would try and figure that out.

Playcade Express was famous for being the largest arcade in Vale. Laughter and excitement of all ages filled the arcade as people went in and out.

Cassian, Blake, Sun, Jaune, Nora, and Ren were waiting patiently by the front door for Ruby and Yang.

"There they are." Cassian pointed out. The group turned to the approaching sisters.

"Yup the gangs all here! Let's head in."

They all each took a turn getting a play card and putting some Lien on it. They unintentionally split off into two groups.

Ren, Nora, Jaune, and Blake went off to play some light gun death match game that Nora hadn't stopped talking about.

Yang, Ruby, Cassian, and Sun on the other hand were wandering the arcade looking for something to play.

"So Cassian, having fun stripping in front of Beacon?" Yang asking in a teasing voice.

Cassian looked confused before it hit him, mounting oh.

"You mean the thing with Coco? You saw that?" He asked.

"She was live streaming it, I think all of Becaon knows about the jog squad." Yang replied.

"Hey! I told you it'd catch on." Sun sounded proud. "Coco seemed pretty salty after she dropped her scroll." Sun added to which Cassian merely shrugged.

"Hey, why don't we try this one?" Ruby asked pointing at a machine.

Standing before them was one of those machines with a punching bag where you got to test your strength.

Ruby stepped up first, inserting her card to start it up. The punching bag dropped and Ruby prepped herself.

As her fist collided with the punching bag, it went slightly back before setting back. They waited as the score on the board fluctuated before stopping at a measly 45.

Ruby slumped in defeat. Yang patted her shoulder to console her.

"Still need to work on that hand to hand." Cassian jokingly said.

Ruby eyes narrowed at him for the joke.

Next up was Sun who scored an 85, followed by Cassian who scored slightly higher with a 90. Only Yang remained.

"Alrighty, time for the pro to show how it's done." Yang cocked her fist and punched with all her might. The bag skyrocketed backwards back up into the machine and stayed there. The scoreboard was frozen still at 999.

Yang started flexing receiving a clapped applause.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you." Yang played it up, taking a bow.

On the other side of the arcade, the others had just finished a rather one side light gun match.

"Hell yea! We kicked your BUTTS" Nora exclaimed pumping her fists in victory.

"You weren't kidding about you and firearms huh?" Blake asked outtingbthe toy gun away.

"Yeaaa, my bad." Jaune chuckled nervously.

"We'll just have to beat them in the next game." Blake said to cheer him up though in truth she was having more fun already than she thought she would.

"Right!" Jaune was determined. The four of them made their way to the next game they could all compete in.

"Hey, anything you all could tell me about Weiss?" Sun asked. They had been walking awhile, playing different games as they explored the arcade.

"Like what?" Ruby asked curiously.

"You know like, stuff she likes or doesn't like?" Sun mentioned.

"Pretty bold to ask her teammates." Yang spoke up.

"I think she's pretty, wanna get to know her more." Sun said honestly.

"You're not put off by the whole Schnee thing?" Yang asked.

"Eh, not really. Why would it matter? She doesn't seem like all the bad stuff they say about her family's company." Sun answered.

Yang and Ruby pondered what Sun before sharing a look between each other and nodding.

"Well, I don't know what Weiss likes in a guy but I can tell you one thing she doesn't like." Sun listened into what Yang would say next.

"No nicknames, especially Snow Angel. You call her that, you're basically kissing any chance goodbye." Yang warned him.

"Got it, thanks!"

"Crap!" Ruby cut in.

"What's wrong?" Cassian asked.

"I think I left my card at the last machine we played at. I'm gonna go back and get it." Ruby said before she walked away.

"I'll wait for Ruby, you two go on ahead." Yang said.

Cass and Sun nodded and walked ahead. Yang waited by herself and started thinking. So far things had been going well. She was having fun and those feelings that she had at the movies hadn't come back. Maybe she was just crazy and it was those heat of the moment type situations. A passing and going crush, that was all.

As more time passed, Yang found it weird Ruby hadn't come back. Deciding to see what was up, Yang walked back to their last machine. Getting close, she could hear Ruby's voice. It sounded like she was arguing with someone. As her sister came in eyesight, she was in fact talking to some guy, and she didn't look happy.

"Everything good sis?" Yang asked approaching.

"I think this guy took my card." Ruby stated.

"And as I told her, I was at this machine but there was no card. Perhaps someone else took it." This random guy defended himself.

"Can you show us the card? She put her name on it." Yang asked politely.

"I already asked that?" Ruby pointed out.

"I shouldn't have to show my card, I didn't take anything!"

"Then there shouldn't be a problem showing the card, right?" Yang pointed out. She was started to get annoyed. This shouldn't have been a complicated as it was getting.

"Everything alright?" Cassian's voice came in as he entered the situation now.

"Another one?" The guy groaned. "Maybe you can convince your friends here, I didn't take their card. Now if they don't leave me alone, I'll have no issues calling security." He threatened.

"Woah now, there's no need for that." Cassian tried to calm him down, putting his prosthetic hand on his shoulder. The guy just looked at him curiously. "Why don't we just let bygones be bygones and move on." Cassian offered his left hand for a handshake.

"Fine, as long as they leave me alone." The guy was looking at Ruby and Yang as he shook Cassian's hand.

The guy walked away shortly after.

"Pfft, whatever." Yang was slightly ticked he just let the ass go like that. "Come on, we'll get you a new card."

"No need." Cassian said, still watching the guy walk away.

"What do you mean?" Ruby asked.

Cassian waited a minute, waiting to make sure the guy was truly gone. He raised his prosthetic arm and with a flick of his finger produced a game card with the name Ruby Rose scribbled on it.

"Wait, you got my card back!?" Ruby asked. Yang looked shocked wondering how he did it.

"Not just yours." Cassian slide his finger and behind Ruby's was another card, the other guys to be exact.

"How? When? We didn't even see anything." Yang spoke up.

"Thank you!" That wasn't a compliment. He handed ruby's card back to her. "Glad to know I still got it." Cassian said as he blew the tip of his finger as if it was a smoking gun. He had pickpocketed the guy and the they hadn't even noticed.

"Come on, let's go spend the dickheads points." Yang grinned in agreement and the three of them went to go meet back up with Sun.

The two groups had finally reunited, all together now at the redemption zone. Cassian had handed the group the random guy's card and they were all pooling together points to try and get something good.

Yang stood off the side talking with Blake.

"So, you have fun with Jaune today?" Yang asked teasingly.

"Shush you." Blake said before walking off.

"Can't run forever KitKat!" Yang laughed as she leaned against the wall. She felt something nudge her elbow.

To her left was Cassian.

"Sup Cass."

"Not much, letting them duke it out over what to get. You have fun today?" Cassian asked.

"Oh yea, nice to unwind every now and then. We gotta do stuff like this when Weiss and Pyrrha are back." Yang said to which Cassian hummed in agreement and shuffled slightly.

"I got you this." Yang turned towards Cassian; in his hands was a small Ursa plushie.

"Why?" She heard herself ask.

"No reason, just cause." Cassian said with a smile.

Yang had said thank you though in all honesty she didn't register it as she took the little plushie in her hand.

For what is in reality vicious monster capable of killing and destruction, it made for a cute stuffed animal. That hardly mattered at all, what was important was what Yang was feeling. Suddenly she felt like she was back at the movies. She wasn't crazy, and there was no denying it at this point. She liked Cassian, now she had to figure what to do with that knowledge.

The ride back to Patch was quiet. Stepping into their home they were instantly met with the sweet aroma of their dads cooking.

"Hey girls, hope you're hungry." Their dad called out. After the long day they had they definitely were.

Wasting no time, they went into the kitchen/dining room. Their father had turned to his daughters; his eyebrow raised when he caught Yang's plushie.

"Nice bear." Before Yang could deflect, Ruby swooped in.

"Cass got it for her." Some teasing began thereafter.

'Traitor' Yang thought as she grumbled into the ursa.

Back at Beacon Jaune Arc had returned to his team's room with Ren and Nora.

Nora was holding a giant sloth plush, one of the many gifts they had gotten from their shared points.

While Ren prepared for tomorrow, Jaune decided to give Pyrrha a call.

Tapping video call, the scroll rang twice before Pyrrha answered, her smiling face appearing shortly on the scrolls screen.

"Hello!"

"Hey Pyr." Jaune returned the greeting. "How you been?"

"I've been well, it's been nice to be home. My parents missed me more than I thought, how are you all?" Pyrrha asked.

"Great! We were at the arcade today with most of team RWVBY and Sun."

"Totally kicked his butt!" Nora came crashing in behind him shouting.

Pyrrha laughed.

Ren appeared next to Nora and said,

"We miss you."

"As have I, we'll have to make up for lost time when I return, right Jaune?" Pyrrha asked a dash of hope sprinkled at the end.

"Of course! We'll go as a team." The blonde leader responded.

"Yes… as a team." He had missed the subtle hint. He also seemed to miss Nora slapping her forehead.

Pyrrha had looked to the left as if something disturbed her.

"Yes mother, I'll be right there." She spoke to what they assumed was her mother off screen. "Sorry, but I have to go. Something came up." Pyrrha apologized.

"No worries, go do what you gotta do." Jaune reassured her.

Pyrrha smiled warmly saying, "I'll see you all soon." The call had disconnected.

In vale in a large warehouse filled halfway with Dust, Roman Torchwick paced around a table.

"I miss the simpler times Neo." Roman said to his mute partner in crime.

The ice cream colored hair thief merely shrugged and threw up some hand gestures that while seemed like gibberish and non sensical Roman seemed to understand immediately.

"I'm not that old!"

"I'm disappointed Roman." A voice Roman was beginning to hate called out.

Roman turned around suddenly when he heard the voice. Cinder! And I see you brought the munchkins too."

Cinder Fall walked in followed behind by Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai.

"We were expecting... more from you." Cinder complained.

"Ha! You try stealing dust after everything that's happened lately, I've been scrapping bottom of the barrel with ideas here. It's bad enough you have me working with those stupid mutts from the White Fang.

Cinder chucked darkly, "And you will continue to do so." She summoned a fireball in her hand. "We have big plans for you, Roman. All we ask is... a little cooperation and you two will be generously rewarded.

"I know, I know we'll keep up just need to let the heat die down a bit." He answered before looking at her and narrowed his eyes. "It's actually good you're here. I have a problem."

Cinder's smile dropped.

"What kind of problem?" She asked not amused in the slightest.

"An unnecessary loose screw in downtown Vale. I would take care of it but I can't really show my face right now." Roman answered.

Cinder pondered the situation before smiling again. "Give the name of this problem to my associates and they shall see it done."

Author's Notes: I'm actually working on a Dragonslayer story that I will probably upload one a week or maybe every other week. It'll be a shorter story than this one plans to be but I'm excited to share it. Now on to Vol 2. Hope you enjoy! Feel free to comment/review.
