You Doomed Us Both
"Now, how to find a runaway Sasuke," thought Naruto as he entered the forest. He had studied the map, so he knew where they had found the first track. Now, the trick was for him to locate it. He wasn't a chakra sensor by any means, but he did have one advantage that no one else had: the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu. With a yell, he created a not-so-small army of clones that fanned out in search of any clue that would lead him in the right direction.
The forest was dense with foliage, casting eerie shadows as Naruto's clones dispersed into the wilderness. Each clone scanned the area with keen eyes, searching for any sign of Sasuke's presence. Some leaped from tree to tree, while others scoured the forest floor for footprints or disturbances in the underbrush.
Naruto's heart raced with anticipation as he waited for any feedback from his clones. He knew that time was of the essence, with Sasuke potentially slipping further away with each passing moment. The weight of responsibility hung heavy on his shoulders, knowing that he was the only one who could bring Sasuke back from the darkness.
As the clones reported back one by one, Naruto's frustration grew. There was no sign of Sasuke, no trace of his whereabouts. It was as if he had vanished into thin air, leaving no trail for Naruto to follow.
With a deep breath, Naruto tried to quell the rising panic within him. He couldn't afford to lose focus now, not when Sasuke's fate hung in the balance. Pushing aside any fears he created another army of clones for another round of searching, refusing to give up until he found his runaway friend.
"OK guys, fan out as fast as you can, the first one to find a clue get a free bowl of Ramen on me," yelled out Naruto as his clones hearing the magic word ramen ran and leaped off as fast as they could go, not a one realizing they would never taste the food of the gods.
Naruto's clones scoured the dense forest, their eyes scanning the ground for any signs of Sasuke's passing. Meanwhile, deep within the shadows of the trees, a sinister presence lurked.
….
"Will you be still in there," said Jirobo as he did his best to run with a Sasuke contained in the "Cursed Seal Container" that Lord Orochimaru had ordered them to put him in until they returned to base. They had been told it was to prevent Sasuke's full transformation. They had a running beat it was for keeping him in the dark as to the location of the base.
As Jirobo hurried along the forest path, his steps faltered, and he stumbled, causing the container to slip from his grasp. It hit the ground with a resounding thud, the lid popping open as the impact jolted it loose. Before Jirobo could react, Sasuke emerged from within, his eyes blazing with fury.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Sasuke's voice was low and menacing, dripping with malice.
"Shut up, you loser! Lord Orochimaru ordered you to get in the container, so get back in," said Tayuya, crossing her arms under her chest as she held her flute.
"Loser! Do you know who I am?" yelled Sasuke as the Sound Four formed a circle around him.
"Hell yeah, you're the idiot we have to carry to the base, so get back in the container, LOSER!" retorted Tayuya, to the laughter of the others.
As the lines of the curse seal grew up around Sasuke's neck, the others backed up a step. "Will you look at that, the loser thinks he can use the curse seal. You've got a lot to learn, baby boy," remarked Tayuya, not letting up on her abuse and eliciting more laughter from her teammates.
Sasuke was fast; even before the curse seal, he was known for his speed. With it, he moved in the blink of an eye and had his hand around Tayuya's neck in a blink, lifting the small woman off the ground. As her own curse seal began to form, Sasuke yelled out.
"Chidori!" A flash of lightning formed around his hand, and as the others watched in morbid fascination, the lightning cutter jutsu flared in his hand. Tayuya's body shook for a split second, and then her head popped off to land on the ground as Sakura dropped her body next to it.
"I told that bitch her mouth was going to be the death of her," said Kidomaru, breaking the others out of their shock at seeing her die so easily.
"Dumb bitch," said Jirobo, kicking her head off to the side. He never really cared for her mouth, and now that she was gone, he was already hoping Lord Orochimaru would find a better replacement.
"Show's over, get back in the container," said Kidomaru, displaying all of his six arms as if daring Sasuke to try something.
Sasuke looked at them all, his eyes blazing red as he used the Sharingan to not only slow down time around him but to prepare for his next move. With the curse seal covering his whole face, he had a grim smile as the seal fueled his rage, they were the enemy, everyone was the enemy that stood between him and the power he needed to kill that man.
Using the Body Flicker Technique he copied from his now-dead teammates he stepped into the outreached arms of Kidomaru and before the six-armed man could blink he shoved a Kunai up into his open mouth until it came out the top of his head. The near-impregnable web armor was bypassed by his only weak spot.
As the body dropped to the leaf-covered ground Sasuke looked over to see Jirobo still in the genjutsu staring off into the distance but Sakon breaking free as his brother Ukon's head came out of his back.
"Stone Dome Jutsu" yelled out Sasuke using another of the jutsu he stole from his other dead teammate. As Ukon tried to break free and attack him the ground around them rose up and trapped them both in a solid stone dome looking like a giant bee hive with a fist-sized hole at the top.
Leaping to the very top of the dome Sasuke looked down into the hole seeing the twin brothers had pulled apart and started a jutsu to break free. Not knowing what powers or Jutsu they used and even in his raged-filled mind he knew he was no match for two others that had the same curse seal he stood tall on the dome taking in a deep breath.
"Great Fireball Jutsu," he yelled out, blasting the white-hot stream of fire down into the top of the dome. The blast of fire lasted until the base of the dome glowed white hot and started to melt. Leaping off the dome Sasuke watched as a line of ashes floated up into the air, the only remains of the leader of the sound four.
As Jirobo broke free of the genjutsu he looked at Sasuke, his muscles tensed, ready to unleash his earth-based techniques. With a swift hand seal, he summoned massive pillars of rock from the ground, aiming to trap Sasuke within its grasp. The earthen projectiles hurtled toward Sasuke with incredible force, threatening to crush him under their weight.
Sasuke swiftly dodged the incoming onslaught, his Sharingan eyes tracking each movement as he watched the curse seal come to life on Jirobo's face. As the rocks closed in, Sasuke maneuvered with lightning-fast agility, narrowly avoiding being trapped by Jirobo's earth manipulation. With a burst of speed, Sasuke closed the distance between them, launching a ninjutsu counterattack fueled by his own curse seal rage.
He learned that Jirobo's earth-based techniques proved to be powerful as he was unable to get past them. Jirobo continued to manipulate the terrain, causing the ground beneath Sasuke's feet to crack and shift unpredictably. As Sasuke struggled to maintain his balance on the unstable terrain, Jirobo seized the opportunity to strike, launching another barrage of earth projectiles aimed directly at Sasuke's position.
When a rock hit him square in the gut Sasuke went flying back to land in the surrounding trees, he ran back into the clearing using the distance between them to his advantage.
Sasuke gathered his chakra, and a surge of dark power coursed through his veins, fueling his jutsu. With a swift hand gesture, he unleashed a torrent of flames, engulfing the incoming rocks Jirobo had sent flying at him in a blazing inferno. The intense heat incinerated the earthen projectiles before they could reach him, scattering them into harmless ashes.
Jirobo's eyes widened in surprise as he witnessed Sasuke's power over fire-based ninjutsu. He quickly adapted his strategy, summoning towering walls of rock to shield himself from Sasuke's flames as he pulled on the power of the curse seal to reach its second stage.
"Hey, look over here," a voice called out behind him, prompting Jirobo to turn his head. He found himself ensnared by the crimson gaze of the Sharingan, the world around him fading into darkness as if all light had been swallowed by a void. With arms flailing, Jirobo attempted to break free from the genjutsu by tapping into the curse seal.
Meanwhile, Sasuke silently descended from a nearby tree, clutching a Kunai in each fist. As he observed Jirobo's frenzied movements, Sasuke waited for the opportune moment to strike. Then, with a swift and forceful motion, he silently dropped from the tree to plunge both blades into the crown of Jirobo's head, swiftly ending the reign of the last of the Sound Four.
As his curse seal faded away Sasuke looked around at the remains of the sound four before turning his back on them, "Now who's the loser?" he scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain. With a contemptuous flick of his wrist, he spat on the girl's head before turning his back on the fallen shinobi. Each step he took away from them was a declaration of his victory, over those who had once dared to stand in his way.
But as Sasuke walked away from the battlefield, a chill wind swept through the air, carrying with it a sense of foreboding. At that moment, it became clear that his descent into darkness had reached its apex, and the consequences of his actions would reverberate throughout the shinobi world.
Sasuke was no longer the boy he once was, driven by a thirst for revenge and consumed by the desire for power. He had embraced the darkness within him, allowing it to consume his soul and guide his every move. And as he walked further into the shadows, it was evident that there would be no turning back from the path he had chosen.
The echoes of his words lingered in the air, a haunting reminder of the darkness that now resided within him. And as Sasuke disappeared into the night, leaving behind the wreckage of his enemies, it was clear that his journey into darkness was far from over.
…
One of the fastest and most reckless of the shadow clones stopped high up in one of the trees seeing a flash of light, pausing, he waited until there was another flash before running at full speed only to land in a small clearing that was a battlefield a few minutes before. Seeing the bodies lying around and the clear signs of fire jutsu he knew it was Sasuke.
Knowing there was only one way to get this information to Naruto in time he pulled out a blade and plunged it into his own heart bursting himself into a ball of smoke. When Naruto received the memories of the clone he turned to the location of the battle willing all the other clones to disperse into smoke as he reclaimed all their memories.
Leaping from tree to tree Naruto formed his hand sign and yelled out "Multi shadow clone jutsu", now with another army of clones around him each with the same memories of the clone that found the battle they raced to the location each wanting to be the first.
Landing in the clearing the clones searched for any clue, one of them finding the head of Tayuya and picking it up to wipe the spit off her face,j, "You know in another world we could have been married" said the clone to the head in his hands before dropping it to the ground.
…
Back at the village, Sakura was slowly walking back to the apartment, fighting every step of the way to break free of the order Naruto had given her. It was impossible to break her own family jutsu and it was hours later that she walked into the front door and sat down. Looking around the apartment the jutsu lifted and she was free. Swearing a string of curse words she didn't even know she knew Sakura realized that if she hadn't fought the jutsu so hard she would have been free of it hours ago. Hoping up, she ran full speed to the Hokage's office.
Running up the stairs, and bursting into the office without knocking, she found Tsunade with a bottle in one hand and a glass in the other. Sitting across from her was Gaara of the Sand holding a glass that looked full of some type of fruit juice if she could tell by the smell as she walked over, it wasn't the strong sake the Hokage was pouring. All the other Jonin and others were long gone, getting ready for the morning missions or getting a good night's sleep.
"What the Hell!? Doesn't anyone knock in this village anymore?" said Tsunade, putting down her glass and drinking from the bottle before waving Sakura over so she could stand next to Gaara. The desk was clear of paperwork and there was a map of the border between Sunagakure and Konohagakure laid out.
"What is it now?" she asked as soon as Sakura reached the desk, Sakura was out of breath and was so red in the face that she was worried that the girl was going to use her kekkei genkai.
"It's Naruto, he ran off, after Sasuke." she blurted out
"What, how, when, why didn't you stop him," said Tsunade as she pressed the intercom button to call the night clerk who was on duty 24/7.
As the shinobi ran into the room the Hokage said, "Find the Jonin commander and tell him Naruto went after Sasuke."
As soon as the door closed Tsunade turned to Sakura, "Ok, now what is the whole story?"
Sakura told the whole story about what happened once they had left the Hokage's office including the jutsu that forced her to obey Naruto. Tsunade put her fingers together and looked at her over the bridge of her nose.
"So he can order you to do anything?" she asked with a worried expression.
"Yes, Anything, and before you ask he hasn't used the jutsu before tonight," said Sakura not wanting the Hokage to think Naruto was some junior pervert even as deep inside she wished he was just a little bit.
"So what you feared has come to pass," said Gaara making Sakura jump as she forgot he was there.
"Yes, Naruto is going after Sasuke to "Save him" but it's clear that boy doesn't want to be saved. Can you help?" asked the Hokage
"Naruto is my brother in all things but birth, yes I will help," said Gaara looking over at Sakura, "Do you have any ideas what direction he went?"
"I have no clue but he seemed to know so he must have looked at the map," said Sakura pointing over to the table where the map was still laid out even as the Jonin commander came walking into the room with his son Shikamaru close behind him and for once looking awake and alert.
"Gather your team and start your search here," said Skikaku pointing to the map.
"I would think he is heading to the sound village up here," said Gaara pointing to the other side of the map.
"That would be too easy, Orochimaru has hidden bases all over the five lands, " added Shikaku, "Our spies say there is activity here.", once again pointing out the expected route
"Very well, I will head here and circle around to here," said Gaara pointing to a large open field many miles away that looked to be a choke point to the hidden base, then turning to the open window he leaped out to only land on a cloud of sand and float away into the night.
Shikaku turned his attention back to the map, his mind racing with possibilities. "If he is going that far out, then your team should leave as quickly as it can and follow this ravine," he advised, tracing a route that offered cover from enemy patrols. As Shikamaru absorbed his father's instructions, he swiftly exited the room, ready to execute the mission.
As the planning unfolded, Tsunade turned to Sakura to ask if she had any ideas about Sasuke's mindset, only to find the girl absent from the room. "Where the hell did she go?" Tsunade inquired, but Skikaku, lost in thought, offered no response.
…
Out in the village, Sakura was running as fast as she could across the top of the building until with a wild leap she launched herself into the air to land on the cloud of sand behind Gaara. The chance he would kill her with a wave of his hand or at least push her off never entered her mind as the only thing she could think of was finding Naruto.
Looking back over his shoulder, Gaara didn't blink or give any sign he cared one way or another. "You smell of his chakra. Mother says I should kill you," he said in his monotone voice.
"You said Naruto was your brother, so that means I am your sister. I just need a ride to the forest; there is no need to do anything else," she said, crouching down on the moving sand, not trusting her balance if she stood up. The sand felt alive as it moved under her hands and feet as if it would cover her in an instant.
"Sister? I have a sister; I do not need another," he said as they flew past the great wall and headed out over the forest, gaining speed as they went.
"I had a sister once. She was killed by my father. You can never have too many sisters, Gaara. Family is everything," she said, using his name, trying to invoke his humanity.
The silence was deafening as the wind blew past them and the forest raced below. Then, a smell reached them, a smell she had never smelled, but Gaara knew it well.
"There was a battle here," he said, slowing down and lowering into the forest. The sight was horrible to her eyes, the headless body of a girl lay on the path, and two others lay dead off to the side. The smell emanated from a stone dome that was still radiating heat as it crumbled to the ground, the chakra holding it together fading away.
"Oh my god, Naruto!" she yelled, jumping to the ground and searching around for her blonde friend, or was it love? She didn't want to think about that right now as she circled the clearing.
"There is no sign that Naruto was in the battle. I will move ahead," said Gaara, rising up into the air before she had a chance to join him. Abandoned by a man, it was the story of her life, so she had expected nothing else. Feeling the forest alive around her, she felt it: a pull of chakra she knew so well as it was now her own. Naruto had been here, not too long ago, and she could feel him off in the distance.
"Guy Sensei said it was going to come down to who could run fastest. I guess he was right," said Sakura to the dead bodies around her as she started to run as fast as she could in the direction of the strongest chakra.
…..
Naruto ran through the forest blindly, following his clones as he sent wave after wave of them out. Each time one of them found a track, he would change course and dispel them all, only to send out another wave in a fan-like pattern. It was tracking by brute force, and only Naruto had the chakra to spare for it to work.
Hours flew by, and night gave way to the morning sun as Naruto emerged from the dense forest into a vast field of tall grass, with the imposing silhouette of mountains in the distance. At the heart of this seemingly endless expanse stood a tall white tower, its presence dominating the landscape. Naruto's last clone report indicated a track at the far end of the field, prompting him to sprint toward the tower with determination.
As he drew nearer, the lush green grass gradually gave way to shifting sands, and the tower loomed ever larger on the horizon. Strangely, the closer Naruto got, the more unsettling the sight became. Human bones littered the sandy ground, scattered like macabre remnants of a forgotten battlefield. The sheer number of bones suggested a grim history, hinting at a tragedy of epic proportions.
Arriving at the base of the tower, Naruto was met with a chilling sight. The structure was composed of twisted bones, their grotesque shapes defying any conventional understanding of anatomy. It was a monument to death, a grim testament to the horrors that had unfolded in this desolate amidst this macabre scene, sitting calmly in the sand surrounded by bones, was Gaara.
Naruto's relief at finding his friend was quickly overshadowed by the grim reality of their surroundings. Gaara's presence here spoke volumes about the battle that had taken place and the overwhelming power of his adversary. Without a word, Naruto approached Gaara, his mind racing with questions. As he drew nearer, he could see the exhaustion etched into Gaara's features.
"Gaara, what happened?" asked Naruto as Gaara looked up at his blonde friend walking over.
"A shinobi from the Sound Village called Kimimaro," Gaara began, his voice carrying a rare touch of humanity. "He claimed to be a member of the Kaguya clan and possessed a unique ability called Shikotsumyaku, which allowed him to manipulate his bone structure. I've never encountered anything like it."
Surveying the field of sand and bones, Naruto couldn't help but ask, "Did you defeat him?"
Gaara raised his weary arm, wordlessly pointing towards the partially buried body of Kimimaro amidst a mound of sand. His dead body lay in the sand with random bones popping out of his skin like a grotesque porcupine.
Turning back to Gaara, Naruto asked, "Did you see Sasuke come this way?"
"Kimimaro said his mission was to intercept anyone attempting to stop Sasuke," Gaara replied, a faint grin touching his lips. "He failed. Sasuke is headed in that direction," he added, gesturing towards the distant mountains.
With a concerned look, Naruto said, "Are you going to be okay here?"
"Go," Gaara insisted, his tone firm despite his fatigue. "I'll manage. Temari is nearby, somewhere in the forest. And don't forget, you still have to marry her," he teased, punctuating his words with one of his unsettling grins.
"Ya, Sure thing, Gaara. I'll see you when I get back," Naruto responded quickly before sprinting away, his thoughts already consumed by his need to catch Sasuke before Orochimaru.
An hour later, Sakura emerged from the forest, walking across the sandy landscape, her clothes torn and dirtied from her struggles in pursuit of Naruto. She approached Gaara with an intense glare, her anger palpable as she stopped in front of him. She cared little for Gaara's intimidating presence now, her focus solely on finding Naruto before something happened. After witnessing what Sasuke did to those sound shinobi, she didn't think he would hesitate to do the same to Naruto.
"Where's Naruto?" she demanded, her voice sharp and commanding as she blocked Gaara's view to get his attention. "And what the hell happened here?" Her gaze swept across the macabre scene of sand and bones, her frustration mounting with each passing second. The red-headed bastard left her behind to play bone toss in the sand or whatever it was that he did here.
Gaara met her gaze with a calm demeanor, unfazed by her anger. In truth, he didn't even notice she was angry. "He went that way," he replied, pointing towards the distant mountains.
Sakura's frustration only grew at his vague response. She clenched her fists, her emotions getting the better of her as she pressed for more information. "What do you mean 'that way'?" she snapped, her impatience evident. "I need to know exactly what happened and where Naruto went. Now!" She could hear the echo of her scream coming back to her from the forest as she stood there with her fist on her hips.
The word "love" tattooed on Gaara's face caught her attention as he stood up, he rose on a sand pillar, looking down at her. She could feel the sand shifting under her feet holding her still. She had done something few had done before; an angry Gaara was rare to see, and none had talked about, as dead men tell no tales.
"Only my sister has ever yelled at me and lived," said Gaara as he raised his hand to form the sand coffin jutsu.
Realizing she may have only seconds to live, Sakura remembered what she said to Gaara back in the village, "Ya, so what is your point, I am your sister, remember?" Her bluff on his play on words was her only hope at this point. Gaara had changed, but he was still the homicidal psychopath who had killed dozens of his own village's shinobi, many of whom were members of his own extended family.
A dome of sand had formed around her, hovering ever closer until the sun was blocked and she found herself in almost total darkness then, as if by magic it all fell away and she could move her feet once again.
"Sister?" said Gaara as he joined her on the sand as his pillar lowered him down to her level.
"I lost a bother but gained a sister it seems, very well, " said Gaara looking once again exhausted from his battle, "Naruto was here about an hour ago running toward those mountains, Sasuke had about an hour lead on him but knowing Naruto he will catch him before he makes it over the ridge."
"Thank you Gaara," said Sakura, giving him a formal bow and taking a few cautious steps to see what he would do before she sprinted off into the tall grass that covered most of the field.
When Sakura faded into the distance Temeri came walking out of the forest to join Gaara. As she walked up he formed a chair like his own so she could sit down with him as they watched the bones shine in the hard sunlight of the day.
"You getting soft, Gaara?" she asked, observing his demeanor around Sakura.
"Soft? No, I'd say Baki would call it wise," he replied, turning his head to observe another team of Konohagakure shinobi approaching cautiously.
It was Shikamaru and his handpicked team consisting of Choji Akimichi, Neji Hyuga, and Kiba Inuzuka. They had stumbled upon the remnants of the Sound Four and had been methodically trailing Sakura's path through the woods. They had opted to let Naruto and Sakura handle their rogue teammate first before taking any action. As Shikamaru had reasoned, it was the most logical course of action. Sasuke's former teammates stood the best chance of convincing him to return without resorting to conflict.
That is what he told his team, what he didn't tell them was he had been told by his father how powerful the Sound Four were reported to be and if Sasuke was able to kill all four of them alone then his mixed team of genin and chunin didn't stand a chance.
….
As the sun reached its zenith, casting harsh rays of light down into the valley below, Naruto stood at the edge of the cliff face, his blue eyes fixed on the imposing statues that marked the entrance to the valley as they held back the water. Down below, Sasuke was walking with purpose along the rocky banks of the river, his figure clear against the shimmering waters.
With the sun beating down on him, Naruto took a deep breath, a surge of energy coursing through his body. Despite the intensity of the midday sun, he prepared to face his rival and friend to convince him to return even if he had to drag him back.
Naruto began the descent into the valley, his movements swift and sure-footed as he used his chakra to walk down the cliff a resounding thud, Naruto landed at the river's edge, his voice echoing through the valley as he called out, "Sasuke, stop!", as he began sprinting along the sandy shore towards his former teammate.
Sasuke glanced back, his eyes filled with malice as he slowed his pace. Deep within his heart, the seeds of murder had taken root, fueled by the twisted belief that true power lay in the annihilation of his closest friend. The teachings of his family scrolls whispered of this ultimate path to strength, and now, he was determined to fulfill that dark destiny. He would awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, and with this power, he would kill that Man.
As Sasuke stood at the water's edge, the thunderous roar of the waterfall echoed behind him, as if echoing his rage at the world. His voice pierced the air like a blade, laced with contempt and defiance as he addressed Naruto.
"What are you doing here, Loser?" Sasuke's words were sharp and cutting, filled with aloofness over his former comrade as he braced himself to do what he must to gain the power he needed.
Naruto slowed approaching cautiously, to stop a dozen paces away, his expression a mix of concern and worry. He pleaded with Sasuke, his voice filled with urgency.
"You have to come back to the village, Sasuke. They think you're a missing nin. The Hokage said you'll be killed if you run." He said the words slowly, still not believing the Hokage would do such a thing.
Sasuke's eyes gleamed with a dangerous light, a hint of the madness lurking within. He scoffed at the notion, his voice dripping with arrogance.
"Kill me? I am the last of my clan. She wouldn't dare. That useless village needs me," he declared, he was blind to the world around him thinking he was the most important person in the village not knowing that it was the village as a whole that was the source of his clan's power.
Hearing those words Naruto refused to back down, his tone pleading yet firm as he reached out to his friend.
"Please, Sasuke. Baa-chan doesn't care about that. She's the last of her clan too. Come back with me. There must be another way."
Sasuke's response was swift and violent. With a fierce hatred burning in his eyes, he rushed at Naruto, blades drawn, his intent clear – to strike down his friend and claim the power he believed would come from such an act, to gain the power that was his right.
Their clash was intense, each blow echoing with the force of their rivalry. Sasuke's speed and strength were formidable, but Naruto matched him move for move. As their blades clashed, sparks flew, the sound of metal ringing out in the air.
It was a battle reminiscent of their days in the schoolyard, but now they were no longer children. Naruto had undergone rigorous training first with Ebisu then with Jiraiya, honing his skills and mastering new techniques along the way. He fought with a newfound confidence and skill, his movements fluid and precise. The wildness of his old style was replaced with the skill of a shinobi.
Sasuke remained blinded by his own ambition and resentment. In his eyes, Naruto was still the weakling he had always surpassed. Ignoring the signs of Naruto's growth, Sasuke pressed his attack relentlessly, driven by his singular desire to prove his superiority and gain more power.
But Naruto was not the same boy Sasuke once knew. He held back, aware of his friend's inner turmoil and refusing to unleash his full power against him. Yet Sasuke remained oblivious to Naruto's restraint, consumed by his own thirst for victory.
Breaking free, Sasuke swiftly pulled out a handful of shurikens, each one attached to a nearly invisible ninja wire. With a skilled cross-arm throw, he launched them all around Naruto, the wires weaving a deadly web around his target. As each shuriken passed Naruto, Sasuke expertly manipulated the wires, ensnaring him in a matter of seconds.
"Wire Fire Jutsu!" Sasuke roared, channeling chakra into the wires and igniting them with flames. The fire raced down the wires towards Naruto, his struggles futile against the constricting binds.
Trapped in the midst of the river, Naruto fought desperately to break free as the flames closed in around him. But Sasuke's malicious smirk remained unyielding as he watched his former friend engulfed in the fiery inferno.
"Die, loser," Sasuke spat, his voice laced with contempt. "Give me the power I need." With a twisted satisfaction, he witnessed the flames erupting into the sky, casting a dark shadow over the noonday sun.
When the flames finished their gruesome job and flamed out Sasuke stood frozen, his mind reeling with a mix of shock and disbelief. His hands, moments ago poised to strike, now fell limp at his sides as he let the wires drop from his grasp. With a soft hiss, they landed in the water below, the wires were not wrapping around a charred body but a waterlogged log instead. .
As Sasuke stared at the bobbing log, a sense of unease crept over him. Where was Naruto? The absence of his former teammate left Sasuke feeling unsettled, a knot of worry tightening in his chest. Something wasn't right, and Sasuke couldn't shake the feeling that he had underestimated the situation.
The sound of rushing wind was his only warning as a blast of air hit him square in the back, sending him flying. He collided with the cliff face on the opposite side, the impact reverberating through his body as he tumbled to the sandy bottom below. Naruto's voice echoed in the air, his jutsu announcement ringing out as Sasuke struggled to regain his echo of Naruto's voice, "Wind Blast Jutsu," filling the air as he slid down to the sandy bottom.
"Stop playing around, Sasuke. Come back with me," called out Naruto as he jogged over the water. Sasuke's rage bubbled to the top at the idea that the class loser thought this was only a game.
"Your luck will not save you this time, baka," said Sasuke, standing free from the sandy shore and charging out to meet Naruto.
Sasuke's muscles tensed with fury as he launched himself forward, his steps quick and deliberate as he closed the distance between himself and Naruto. Each footfall sent grains of sand scattering in his wake, as he ran out into the water to confront his former friend.
Naruto's expression remained the same, his gaze fixed firmly on Sasuke as he braced himself for the impending clash. Despite the urgency of the situation, there was a hint of sadness in his eyes, a silent plea for Sasuke to see reason and abandon his path of darkness.
As Sasuke closed in, Naruto's hands flashed through a series of seals with practiced precision. Chakra surged within him, swirling around his form like a tempest gathering strength. With a fierce yell, he unleashed another powerful gust of wind, aimed directly at Sasuke. "Wind Bullet Jutsu" he called out.
Caught off guard by the sudden onslaught, Sasuke staggered momentarily, his momentum disrupted by the force of the blast as wind bullets pushed him back to the shore. But he remained unshaken, his need to win emerging victorious burning brighter than ever.
Gritting his teeth against the wind, Sasuke pushed forward, his movements fluid and precise as he dodged the brunt of Naruto's attack. With a swift motion, he drew forth his weapon, a blade honed to a deadly edge and crackling with latent energy.
"Fire Blade Jutsu '' called out Sasuke lighting the blade afire and rushing Naruto.
As the two ex-teammates clashed, sparks flew and steel rang out against steel, each strike backed by the weight of their shared history and the turmoil of their conflicting emotions. At that moment, they were not just ninjas locked in battle, but friends torn apart.
High overhead Sakura reached the edge of the valley, its tall jagged cliffs giving her pause as she looked around. The sound of battle could be hurt as it echoed down the valley's walls but she could not see them. Shielding her eyes from the harsh glare of the noonday sun, she scanned the horizon until she spotted distant figures amidst bursts of fire and swirling moved so fast she wasn't able to see who was who but it didn't matter as she worked her way down the cliff.
"Sasuke! Stop this madness and come back with me!" Naruto's voice rang out, filled with urgency and desperation, as he leaped back to put distance between them.
In response, Sasuke's features contorted with rage as he called upon the curse seal, his face covered in swirling black tattoo lines that seemed to pulse with dark energy. His body surged with newfound power, fueled by an impossible rage that threatened to consume him entirely.
"I will never return to that village! Never!" Sasuke screamed, his voice filled with venom and defiance, as his eyes blazed red with fury. With a swift motion, he activated his Sharingan, the intense gaze piercing through the air.
But Naruto remained unfazed, he had been taught never to meet the gaze of a Uchiha, to resist the hypnotic allure of their Sharingan.
Sasuke's speed had increased tenfold, catching Naruto off guard as relentless blows sent him staggering backward, his back colliding with the unforgiving cliffside.
"Fire Bullets!" Sasuke roared, unleashing torrents of flame not directly at Naruto, but upward into the towering cliff face. The searing heat erupted, causing the rock to crumble and cascade down, burying Naruto beneath a heap of jagged stones.
"Die already, LOSER!" screamed Sasuke in his rage, his voice echoing through the valley as Naruto burst forth from the rubble. Stones flew in every direction as he emerged, enveloped in a cloak of crimson chakra. His once blue eyes blazed with fiery red intensity, and as Sasuke watched in astonishment, fangs elongated over Naruto's lower lip, a manifestation of the immense power coursing through him.
Sasuke engulfed in the ominous aura of the curse seal, and Naruto, shrouded in his crimson cloak, clashed once more. Naruto, no longer holding back, met Sasuke's attacks head-on, matching his every move with equal speed and ferocity. The intensity of their battle intensified, each blow resonating through the valley as they fought with an unmatched force.
In a move reminiscent of Lee's technique, Sasuke kicked Naruto upwards, propelling him higher into the air. Blow after blow rained down on Naruto, each strike sending him spinning further upwards, unable to find a foothold as he was battered by Sasuke's relentless assault.
At the peak of the jutsu, Sasuke altered his attack, unleashing a gigantic fireball that soared high into the air, engulfing Naruto in its searing flames.
As Sasuke landed back on the river's surface, he braced himself for the sight of Naruto's charred body to plummet from the flames. However, to his shock, Naruto emerged from the inferno, his form now enveloped in a swirling torrent of chakra. With a long tail of energy flowing behind him, Naruto seemed to embody the fury of the Nine-Tails, his eyes ablaze with untamed rage.
With a blow greater than that of ten Jonin combined, Naruto struck Sasuke with incredible force, sending him hurtling through the air. Sasuke soared upwards, crashing into the cliff face with such impact that it blasted out a large hole in the rock. Staggering to the edge of the hole, Sasuke stood, his vision clouded by a hate-fueled by the curse seal.
In a desperate bid for power, Sasuke tapped further into the dark energies of the curse seal. As he did, his skin began to take on a sickly grey hue, and monstrous wings formed from deformed hands burst forth from his back, stretching wide in a grotesque display of twisted power.
Naruto gazed up at his one-time friend, his thoughts muddled by the influence of the fox's chakra and the horrifying transformation Sasuke had undergone. In his eyes, Sasuke was no longer the friend he once knew; instead, he saw only a monstrous creature, twisted by darkness and consumed by hate. Yet, like Sakura before him, Naruto remained steadfast in his belief that he could rescue Sasuke from the darkness that gripped him. With determination burning in his heart, Naruto prepared to confront the monster that stood before him, ready to do whatever it took to save his friend.
The clash between Naruto and Sasuke was like a cataclysmic collision of titans, their chakra-infused forms erupting with power as they met in mid-air. The sheer force of their impact sent shockwaves rippling through the surrounding air and water, creating a tumultuous vortex of energy that engulfed everything in its path. Each of them fought with all their might, their chakra swirling behind them like blazing comets, leaving trails of intense energy in their wake.
With a mighty blow from each, they were sent soaring away from each other, landing on opposite sides of the valley. The towering statues loomed overhead as if bearing witness to the ferocity of the battle that had once unfolded in this very place. Sasuke clung to the cliff face, his gaze fixed fiercely on Naruto, who mirrored his intensity from across the expanse. This encounter had exceeded both of their expectations and now, with determination etched into their expressions, they each summoned their ultimate jutsu.
"Chidori!" "Rasengan!" The two jutsu were called out simultaneously as they launched themselves off the cliff, their respective techniques forming around their outstretched hands. The crackling lightning of Sasuke's Chidori clashed against the swirling sphere of Naruto's Rasengan, the air vibrating with their combined power as they hurtled toward each other.
As they met in mid-air, their jutsu clashed fiercely, each fighting for dominance. Naruto, overwhelmed by a sense of sadness, redirected his Rasengan towards one of Sasuke's deformed wings, aiming to disable rather than harm his friend. On the other hand, Sasuke, fueled by his rage, thrusts his lightning-infused fist at Naruto with an evil grin of satisfaction.
A blast tore through Sasuke's wing, sending him careening out of control. Despite the chaos, he thrust his hand into Naruto's chest, their bodies entwined as they plummeted towards the earth below.
With a heavy thud, their bodies came to rest on a stone shelf at the base of the waterfall, near the feet of the statues. Sasuke rose first, one of his wings missing, his expression twisted into a triumphant grin as he extracted his fist from Naruto's still form.
As Sasuke looked down at his fallen teammate, awaiting the surge of power he anticipated from his victory, he remained unaware of a silent and invisible force hurtling toward him with killer intent.
Sakura shrouded in silence and invisibility, sprinted toward Sasuke, driven by a potent mix of rage and despair. Following the trail of chakra she had been tracing, now vanished, she felt a profound sense of loss. The absence of Naruto's chakra only fueled her fury as she struck Sasuke in the gut, sending him careening out of control toward the waterfall and the rocky wall beyond.
Sakura, her form materializing beside Naruto, collapsed to her knees beside him, her tears blending with the mist of the waterfall. The weight of despair pressed down upon her, crushing her spirit as she realized the magnitude of her loss. With Naruto gone, her world crumbled around her, leaving her with nothing to cling to but her sorrow.
"No, No, No, please no," she pleaded, her voice choking with anguish. "You can't leave me. I can't bear to live without you." Her cries echoed off the rocky walls of the valley, each sob a testament to the depth of her grief as she buried her face against Naruto's chest, seeking solace amid her overwhelming despair.
Sasuke's laughter cut through Sakura's anguish like a knife, his callous words slicing deep into her already shattered heart. As he landed beside her, the second level of the curse seal faded, leaving behind the remnants of its dark power. His tattoo-covered form loomed over her, a haunting reminder of the darkness that now consumed him.
"You cry for that loser?" he taunted, his voice dripping with scorn. "I thought you wanted to mother my children." His laughter echoed off the stone walls of the valley, a cruel symphony that mocked her pain.
Sakura recoiled at his words, her grief giving way to anger as she glared up at him, her eyes blazing with fury. She refused to let him see her weakness, refused to let him break her spirit any further. With a trembling voice, she spat out her defiance.
"You think this is funny?" she seethed, her voice trembling with rage. "You think you've won?" Despite the tears that still stained her cheeks, there was a fire in her eyes, a determination to stand tall in the face of his cruelty. She would not let him break her. Not now. Not ever.
Sakura's voice echoed with fierceness as she spoke, her words dripping with a venomous intensity. "I will kill you, you bastard, and place your head on Naruto's grave for all to see," she declared, her tone unwavering and resolute.
Sakura's words cut through the air like a blade, sharp and deadly, as she vowed vengeance against Sasuke. Her eyes blazed with an intense white light, a manifestation of her newfound power as her kekkei genkai surged to life. The transformation swept over her, her once-pale skin darkening to a deep hue as her features contorted with the raw energy coursing through her veins.
Sasuke took a step back, his expression shifting from amusement to genuine concern as he witnessed Sakura's transformation. He had never seen anything like it before, and the sight sent a chill down his spine. Despite his arrogance, he couldn't deny the raw power emanating from Sakura's transformed state.
For the first time since the battle began, Sasuke felt a flicker of fear in his heart. He had underestimated Sakura and dismissed her as weak and inconsequential. But now, as she stood before him, radiating with newfound strength and power, he realized the grave mistake he had made.
But Sasuke was not one to back down easily. Despite his apprehension, he gritted his teeth and summoned forth his own family's cursed bloodline, steeling himself for the battle ahead. If Sakura wanted to challenge him, then he would meet her head-on, with all the power at his disposal. This would be a fight to the bitter end, a clash of wills and strength that would determine the fate of them both.
Sasuke's heart pounded in his chest as he watched Sakura's transformation unfold before his eyes. The once-familiar features of his one-time teammate melted away, replaced by a monstrous visage straight out of his darkest nightmares. He could hardly believe what he was seeing, the shock of the moment threatening to overwhelm him.
Her eyes blazed with an otherworldly light, casting an eerie glow across the valley as her skin underwent a grotesque metamorphosis. From pale to dark brown to black, her flesh shifted and contorted, taking on the appearance of gnarled bark and lizard skin. With a primal scream, Sakura unleashed her family's power, the air vibrating with the force of her fury as she screamed at the sky. All the hate, all the pain that her father had beaten into her was let loose once again but this time she used it, focused it.
As twisted branches erupted from her back, Sasuke's instincts screamed at him to flee, but he stood his ground, paralyzed by a mixture of fear and disbelief. Each movement of her grotesque appendages sent shivers down his spine, their segmented forms twitching with an unnatural energy. This was no person but a demon of a nightmare made real.
With each step she took, Sakura's transformation escalated, her body expanding and morphing into a towering monstrosity. Gone was the girl he once knew, replaced by a creature fueled by pain, hate, and primal instinct. Her once-human features were distorted beyond recognition, her face contorted into a horrifying mask of pointed teeth and unending hunger.
As she closed in on him, Sasuke's survival instincts kicked in, propelling him into a frantic dance of evasion. Calling on the curse seal again he dodged and rolled, narrowly avoiding the deadly grasp of her elongated limbs. Adrenaline surged through his veins, his senses heightened as he scrambled to keep ahead of her relentless advance. Her, no IT speed matched his own as they moved over the surface of the river and down the valley.
Caught in the grip of Sakura's relentless assault, Sasuke struggled against the vice-like hold of her tentacles as they pierced his body. Each writhing tendril seemed to sap his strength, draining him of his chakra with every passing moment. As he fought to break free, the realization dawned on him that his efforts were futile. Her power was unlike anything he had ever faced, a primal force fueled by rage and despair.
With each passing second, Sasuke felt his energy wane, his movements growing sluggish and labored. Desperation clawed at his mind as he searched for a way out of this death trap, but the relentless onslaught showed no sign of abating. Sakura's monstrous form loomed over him, her eyes ablaze with an insatiable hunger. There was no sign of humanity left in her.
Summoning every ounce of strength he had left, Sasuke gritted his teeth against the pain and focused his mind. With a surge of pure willpower, he channeled his remaining chakra into a powerful burst of energy, aiming to break free from Sakura's grasp and turn the tide of battle in his favor. With a primal scream, he unleashed the full force of his power, channeling it into a surge of electricity that crackled and surged around him like a living thing.
The Chidori surged through his veins, its electric energy coursing through his body and lending him the strength he needed to push back against Sakura's monstrosity focused all his energy into one final, desperate attack, aiming to break through the tendrils that ensnared him and reclaim his freedom from the darkness that threatened to consume him.
As the Chidori surged forth, its brilliant light illuminating the darkness that surrounded them, Sasuke felt a surge of hope ignite within him. For a fleeting moment, he dared to believe that victory was within his grasp, that he could overcome the overwhelming creature he fought against and emerge triumphant against the thing that sought to destroy him.
But even as his Chidori pierced the air with its crackling energy, Sasuke knew that his battle was far from over even as he cut his way out of the disjointed tentacles that had pierced his body.
With each surge of power, Sasuke could feel himself losing control, his mind consumed by a primal rage that threatened to consume him entirely.
As he ran, the landscape around him blurred into a chaotic whirlwind of motion, the world itself seeming to warp and twist under the weight of his newfound power. Trees bent and shattered, rocks crumbled to dust, and the very air crackled with malevolent energy as Sasuke unleashed the full fury of his cursed form.
But amidst the chaos, one thought burned bright in Sasuke's mind: his need to defeat Sakura, to rid himself of the monstrous threat she had become. With every step, he pushed himself harder, his will to emerge victorious driving him forward even as his body screamed in protest that it was pushed beyond its breaking point.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity of running, Sasuke came to a stop at the edge of the valley, the rushing waters of the river below churning with a primal ferocity that mirrored the turmoil within him. With Sakura's monstrous form hot on his heels, he knew that he had no choice but to confront her head-on, to unleash every ounce of power he possessed in a final, desperate bid for survival.
With a defiant roar, Sasuke turned to face her, no he thought, IT, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity that matched the raging inferno of his cursed form. At that moment, as he stood on the precipice of oblivion, he knew that only one of them would emerge from this battle alive.
As Sakura charged toward him, Sasuke hastily formed the hand signs for his jutsu he had copied from his now-dead teammates, calling them out in rapid succession. "Stone Wave!" he screamed, summoning the earth to encase her monstrous form, hoping to slow her advance. The valley walls trembled as boulders and debris crashed down, forming a barrier around Sakura.
"Water Tornado!" he yelled out next, commanding the river to turn back on itself, unleashing a swirling vortex of water upon Sakura. The river surged and churned, its powerful currents aimed at overwhelming her. moving the rocks in its way as grinding stones to reduce her to dust.
Finally, as Sakura broke free of the water and drew nearer, Sasuke summoned the dark energy of the curse seal, channeling it into his next attack. "Great fireball!" he roared, conjuring a ball of fire the size of the valley itself, sending it hurtling toward Sakura with intense heat and searing force.
As Sakura's monstrous form continued its relentless advance, unfazed by Sasuke's barrage of jutsu, the situation seemed dire. At the top of the valley, hidden in the shadow of the statues, Orochimaru and Kabuto observed the chaos unfolding below.
"Lord Orochimaru, are we to do nothing to help young Sasuke?" Kabuto's voice held a note of concern, reflecting the urgency of the situation.
Orochimaru's gaze remained fixed on the battlefield, his expression unreadable. "He is lost," he declared, his tone resigned as he cut Sasuke off from the source of the curse seal's chakra. Orochimaru understood the magnitude of Sakura's unleashed power and the danger it posed. "If she leaves his head, take his eyes and return to base," he instructed his words carrying a weight of finality.
With that command, the snake Sannin disappeared into the earth, leaving Kabuto to carry out his orders amidst the chaos below. As the battle raged on, the fate of Sasuke was decided, his once-promising future now overshadowed by the overpowering force of Sakura's primal fury.
On the opposite side of the river, a team of Chunin from the Leaf Village watched the unfolding battle with a mix of concern and apprehension. From their vantage point, they could see the clash between Sasuke and Sakura, the sheer intensity of their conflict evident even from a distance.
Neji's keen eyes, empowered by the Byakugan, pierced through the chaos, allowing him to locate Naruto amidst the backdrop of the waterfall.
"Naruto is down by the falls, he isn't moving," said Neji showing little emotion.
Kiba, his faithful companion hiding within his jacket, couldn't contain his unease. "What's the plan, Shikamaru? Are we just going to sit here and watch?" he questioned, his tone laced with frustration over their lack of action.
Shikamaru's gaze remained fixed on the unfolding battle, his mind calculating each move with precision. He understood the dangers of the situation, recognizing that Sasuke's actions had sealed his fate, regardless of their intervention he would die at the hands of this creature or in the village of his birth. In the world of shinobi, betrayal often came at a price too steep to ignore.
"We wait," Shikamaru responded, his voice steady despite the intensity of the moment. "We watch, and when the time is right, we'll make our move." With that, he settled himself at the cliff's edge, his focus unwavering as he prepared to act with strategic precision when the opportunity arose.
Desperation tinged Sasuke's voice as he invoked the Earth Spire jutsu, attempting to immobilize the monstrous creature before him. Yet, to his dismay, the cursed seal's power dwindled, leaving him with only his own waning chakra to contend with.
"No, this can't be happening," Sasuke's cry echoed through the valley as a tentacle pierced his leg, searing pain lancing through his body. In a last-ditch effort, he summoned what remained of his strength, unleashing a barrage of Fire Bullets in a feeble attempt to deter Sakura's relentless advance.
With a hollow thud, each fireball struck Sakura's monstrous form, their feeble flames sizzling against her hardened exterior before fizzling out harmlessly. Sasuke's heart sank as he realized the futility of his attack, his mind racing for a strategy to turn the tide of the battle.
Sasuke's breath caught in his throat as Sakura's monstrous hand closed around his neck, lifting him effortlessly off the ground. Agonizing pain shot through his leg as her tentacle tore through his flesh, blood dripping into the churning river below. With his life hanging in the balance, Sasuke found himself staring into Sakura's dead black eyes, devoid of fear or mercy. Locked in her gaze, he felt a primal chill run down his spine, a sensation that threatened to consume him whole.
As the sickening sound of Sasuke's neck snapping echoed through the valley, it reached the ears of the Chunin team above, sending a shiver down their spines. Even from their vantage point, they could sense the finality of the moment, the end of a battle that had torn apart Team Seven and shattered lives.
Neji, his Byakugan still active, scanned the scene below, while Kiba and his faithful companion watched with anticipation. Shikamaru, ever the strategist, contemplated their next move, knowing that the fate of their former classmate had been sealed in the clash below.
But as they observed from their perch on the edge of the cliff, another figure lurked in the shadows nearby. Kabuto, Orochimaru's loyal servant, watched the scene unfold with a cold detachment, his mind calculating the implications of Sasuke's demise as he worked his way to the body to steal its eyes.
With a callous toss, Sakura cast Sasuke's lifeless body aside, her heart heavy with grief and regret at words not spoken. Turning her gaze back up the valley, she set her sights on Naruto, her one constant amidst the chaos. She would stay by his side, through life and death, through triumph and despair, until the very earth swallowed her whole.
"I see someone at Sasuke's body," said Neji
"We can't let Sasuke's bloodline be taken, let's move," said Shikamaru leading his team into battle.
Sakura's world had narrowed to the figure lying before her – Naruto, her teammate, her friend, and perhaps something more so much more. Ignoring the chaos unfolding around her, she focused solely on Naruto's still form, a silent prayer escaping her black lips.
Then, against all odds, a glimmer of hope emerged. Sparks of chakra flickered to life within Naruto, a sign that he was fighting his own battle against death's grip. In that moment, Sakura's hope was reignited, as she scooped up Naruto in her clawed hands.
With Naruto cradled against her chest, Sakura wasted no time. Without a backward glance at the ongoing battle, she dashed away from the battlefield, her heart set on one goal: to bring Naruto back to the village, to seek the help of the Hokage, and to fight for his life with every ounce of her being.
The wall guards didn't get a chance to raise the alarm as Sakura's formidable form burst out of the forest, crashing through the barrier wall with effortless strength. Leaping from rooftop to rooftop, she raced towards the hospital, her determination driving her forward with unstoppable force.
Arriving at the emergency room entrance, Sakura gently laid Naruto down before collapsing beside him, her body exhausted from the frantic journey and the battle she fought at the valley of the end. A swarm of medical personnel rushed to their aid, their urgent movements a blur of efficiency.
"You three, take him to operating room four! You, go inform the Hokage immediately!" commanded the lead doctor, his voice ringing out with authority amidst the chaos. "And for heaven's sake, someone cover that girl before some pervert gets any ideas!"
With swift efficiency, the medical team sprang into action, whisking Naruto away to surgery while a nurse tossed a sheet over Sakura before picking her up and laying her on a gurney, modesty protected. As the hospital bustled with activity, the Hokage rushed into the operating room to fight tirelessly to save Naruto's life.
