Cigarettes
He lit a cigarette and took a long drag.
"Do you really have to do that now?" Guideau asked in a low murmur.
"What, smoking? It never bothered you."
Guideau gave him a sideways glance, then looked away. It was too quick for his eyes to catch.
"The smoke clings to the sheets, and then it's the only thing I smell when I try to sleep."
Ashaf looked back at her, the cigarette dangling from his fingers, as if deciding whether to put it out or not.
"My bad. I didn't know."
"That's because you don't have heightened senses like I do."
Ashaf smiled in that self-confident, smug way of his.
"Right, right. It's hard to forget your extraordinary senses. You can detect my presence all the way from the elevator-"
"Misha has started to notice." she said out of the blue.
Ashaf raised an eyebrow, the cigarette dangling halfway from his mouth, his silence inviting her to continue.
"It's the cigarettes. She said the sheets smelled of cigarettes."
Ashaf's smile faltered as he heard Guideau's words, and he ran a hand through his dark hair, the cigarette now forgotten.
"Is that a problem?" Guideau could sense from his reaction that something was amiss.
"Yes", he said rendering the cigarette to nothing with a quick flare of magic. "That I can't smoke while I'm in this room".
Uh, I don't know where this came from.
kinda had a scene in mind that starts very similar to this one, and I started to write it out, and this was the result.
By the way, Misha is character from the manga, who takes care of Guideau's needs. She's instroduced in chapter 10 and appears again in chapter 28.5
