Heiji had told him that Ran knows and she's waiting for him to tell her. Haibara had just threatened him with a fake gun to prove her point of how dangerous the situation is and why Ran shouldn't know.
Edogawa Conan lays in the hospital bed, his hands behind the back of his head. Heiji was talking from his point of a view; a guy must tell his girl the truth if he does love her. Haibara was talking from her point of a view; the Organization will immediately kill Ran if she finds out the truth.
But Ran apparently knows, or else how did she know they shared the same blood type? But she didn't say anything. She was very good at playing stupid if she'd known early known.
'Hattori wants me to say. Haibara wants me to remain silent.', Conan thought before he narrowed his eyes, 'What do I want?'.
Kogoro and Ran had entered Conan's hospital room to visit him. Kogoro was giving him a long lecture on how he got himself hurt and his idiotic attitude but Conan just ignored him, mumbling an apology.
"Ojisan… Can you leave me and Ran-neechan alone?", Conan asked.
Kogoro looked at him confused and opened his mouth to object but Ran interrupted him. "Please do as he says Otousan.", She said.
Kogoro grumbled in annoyance as he left the room.
"What's wrong Conan-kun?", Ran asked as she stared intently at Conan.
Haibara came with the Detective boys and Agasa to visit Conan. She raised an eyebrow once she saw Kogoro standing alone outside Conan's room.
"Where is Ran-san?", Agasa asked the question that Haibara was thinking of.
"The brat wanted to speak to her privately. She's been inside for 30 minutes or more.", Kogoro shrugged.
Haibara's eyes widened. 'This idiot, did he?!', She thought worriedly before she barged in, ignoring the calls of Agasa and the children.
"I really don't know how to do this, Ran-neechan.", Conan had said once Haibara entered before and Ran looked at her panting state in curiosity.
"Edogawa-kun…", She began with a warning tone.
"Ai-chan, you shouldn't enter like that. Conan-kun was discussing something personal with me.", Ran said with a friendly smile before she looked at Conan, "Does she know?".
"No, I was gonna tell her after taking your opinion.", Conan answered before he looked at Haibara, "I was asking Ran-neechan to help me find a gift for Ojisan, as an apology for making him so worried, he gave me a long lecture.".
Haibara dead panned.
"E-Eh?". Conan's answer was the last thing that she thought he would say. She stared at him for a few seconds, searching for any lies but the boy looked genuine, and Ran didn't look like she was mad or sad or anything, but actually excited to help the boy.
"Was what you told me at the hospital the truth? Or did you tell her?", Haibara asked Conan when they were back to school again.
Conan shook his head, "You're right. She's gonna be in danger, and I can't afford that.".
"Were you actually serious about this gift thing?", She asked curiously.
"Yeah, I sometimes feel like I'm bothering the old man, and he honestly is doing his best with Ran and I.", Conan shrugged, "So we bought him a new Mahjong set, and some Okino Yoko merchandise.".
"You scared me for a second…. I thought you actually told her.", Haibara said but Conan didn't respond.
Conan opened the door and entered Ran's room, to see her solving the school's homework.
"Are you done?", He asked.
"You entered just as I finished the last problem.", She nodded as Conan closed the door behind him.
"Otousan's sleeping?", She asked.
"Snoring loud and clear.", Conan mumbled in annoyance making Ran giggle before she looked at Conan, a sweet smile on her face.
"So, we still haven't discussed how you took a bath with me and used my father as a puppet.", She said making Conan shiver before he raised his hands in defense.
"Ran…. I can explain….".
"Shinichi….".
He had told her. He believed she needed to know in order to protect herself. Knowing the danger makes you able to defend yourself or avoid it, but being oblivious while the danger is around you, is no good.
But Ran asked him not to tell anyone that he told her, or to be more precise, figured him out and he came clean. She didn't exactly like how some people thought of her low or stupid or she'll easily forgive no matter what, so she decided to return the favor.
She'll fool them all and pretend to be dumb. But at certain moments she'll pretend to start suspecting Shinichi, because being too dumb is suspicious itself.
In front of everyone, they were Ran-neechan and Conan-kun, with everyone thinking along the way that she knows nothing.
But when they are alone, they were Ran and Shinichi, and he would tell her all of his investigations, adventures, and events that happened with his allies.
He told her first Vermouth was Araide, Mizunashi Rena is Kir and Hidemi Hondou, Akai's fake death, Bourbon's real identity, Kid's disguises as him, and no one noticed this change.
Even when he confessed at London and had to leave because of the temporary antidote. As soon as she met him as Conan, she confessed back to him, becoming a couple.
But it wasn't long until people found out.
Ran grabbed Shinichi's neck and squeezed. The latter tried to take her hands off as he looked at her eyes wide. The people around them but Conan looked at her in disbelief.
"Ran what-", Sonoko started to say.
"This is Kid…. Shinichi told me he was sick and unable to leave his home…", She growled at fake Shinichi. Fake Shinichi's eyes widened before he looked at Conan who was looking smug.
'Yeah, I told her. You're dead.', Conan thought as the smug grin grew wider.
And Kid had to throw a smoke bomb to avoid a beating from Ran. And he swore then to never disguise as Shinichi again.
Ran's eyes widened once she saw the torn off mask of Matsumoto.
Fake Matsumoto laughed and charged at Ran. She regained her focus and blocked his punches, surprising him, as he thought he had the chance seeing her surprise.
Conan watched in awe as Ran blocked every punch and kick from Irish, keeping up with him, and hitting him with her own, but unfortunately she did receive some hits.
"After you told me, I decided to increase and level up my training in order to protect you.", She had told him before.
Irish stepped back and removed the mask completely and Matsumoto's suit , standing in his black clothes, panting. His face was bruised, bleeding from his mouth, a kick mark on his neck.
Ran, in her own right, stood panting. She was bleeding from her forehead, had a black eye, coughed some blood, and her lips were bruised. She also felt that her ribs were fractured but she still stood in a fighting stance.
She and Irish continued fighting for a few moments before Irish swung his leg and hit her with a harsh kick in the ribs, breaking them, and sending her flying to wall, her back slamming to it.
"I…. Have to give it…. To you…", Irish panted as he placed his hands on his left rib, the ones Ran had fractured. "No normal person…. Ever got so close to defeat me in a fight….", He said.
"Your name?", He asked.
Ran spat the blood in her mouth before she looked him in the eye, looking firm and strong despite her weakened state.
"Mouri…. Ran…", She said.
She didn't defeat Irish, indeed, but she hurt him enough, to have the police that Conan had brought arrest him.
Kogoro had arrived with the police and once he saw Ran's appearance, he lunged at Irish and took down the injured man easily.
But unfortunately, as soon as the police escorted Irish outside the tower, Korn had shot him in the head using his sniper rifle from the helicopter.
Okiya watched as Sonoko and Masumi left the Kudo mansion, but then he noticed Conan standing with Ran and discussing something privately.
He stood behind a wall and eavesdropped on them.
"Sera is acting suspiciously around you, Shinichi." Ran said.
"Glad you said that, because I was starting to think I'm being paranoid.", Conan grumbled.
"So Akai-san is staying here to protect Ai-chan?", Ran asked.
"Ah. And that's why he didn't defend your kick. He is supposed to be an ordinary engineering student.", Conan said.
"I need to apologize to him later on.", Ran sweat dropped.
"Apology accepted.". Both jumped in their places before turning around instantly to see Okiya with his arms crossed, smirking at the two. He pressed the voice changer at his neck.
"I have to say, nice acting, Mouri-san.", Akai said in his real voice.
"It's not that hard really.", Ran mumbled as she rubbed the back of her head.
"So when did you let her in?", Akai asked Conan, and then they told him the story.
Azusa looked at Conan, Okiya, and Bourbon who were busy with investigating the suicide of this singer who wrote a song named Asaca. Sonoko was somewhere else, but Ran was standing next to her.
And Azusa definitely caught how Ran stared at her when she believed she wasn't noticing.
"So you remember me, and you know who I am.", Azusa, or in truth, Vermouth said, in her real voice. She and Ran were away and alone from anyone, but she kept her voice low just in case.
"Shinichi told me everything.", Ran said simply, keeping her face stern, but she couldn't control her sadness. Her favorite actress and idol whom she thought was dead, is actually alive and in reality an assassin from a dangerous criminal syndicate.
"Why didn't you shoot me? Why did you call me Angel? Aren't you a murder? So human lives mean nothing to you, Sharon-san.", Ran almost spat the name.
Vermouth remained silent before she sighed. "Is a reason necessary? I don't know why you kill someone, but as for helping someone, a logical mind isn't needed, right?", She said making Ran's eyes wide.
"Those are Shinichi's words, how did you…. Unless you were…", Ran trailed off.
"I was the assassin.", Vermouth smiled, "I wanted to kill you but I almost fell to my death, and you jumped in and saved me.".
"You've touched me since then, Ran-chan. I never believed in Angels nor God until I met you.", Vermouth said, "You and that boy are my only treasures in this world.".
"And for that. I want you to be careful, the world you entered since he told you is dangerous and dark. So take care.", She said genuinely making Ran blink before she looked ahead.
"You don't want to do this anymore.", Ran stated making Vermouth nod.
"When the time comes for the final countdown, I'll be on your side. I may not have had a choice in joining, but I have the choice of leaving, and I choose the leave the Organization burning.".
"So ya will go ta dat School trip?", Heiji had asked on the phone.
"Yeah, Haibara gave me the temporary antidote.", Conan replied.
"Alright, I'll be dere ta help. Ya wouldn' want neechan ta see ya.".
"I know, Hattori-kun.". Heiji cried once he heard Ran's voice respond instead of Conan.
"What? Kazuha caught you talking to a girl?", Conan said snickering.
"N-Neechan-".
"He told me a long time ago Hattori-kun, but apparently I'm too good at playing dumb.", Ran answered.
"And confessed.", Conan added.
"You need to step up and confess now, Hattori-kun.", Ran teased snapping Heiji out of his shocked state.
"Not ya too neechan…".
Some things did change. Some things didn't. And it was only those people who figured out the truth about Ran knowing of Conan.
Conan had a personal choice of not telling his parents nor Agasa. His parents don't exactly tell him anything going on, especially now they are here in Japan to help with the investigation, but they don't tell him everything. And if he tells Agasa, he'll tell them.
So he decided to keep things from them too.
And he decided to make decisions for himself considering his situation.
"Conan-kun…", Sera's voice trailed off in surprise as she opened her hotel door to greet Conan, but she was surprised to see Ran too.
Conan and Ran walked in as Conan said, "She knows everything. And she actually remembered your mother before me, back when we met on the beach.".
The shrunken detective smiled before he looked at the girl sitting on the couch ahead of him. "So we finally meet; MI6 Agent, Mary Sera-san.", He said.
"What's with the change? I thought you were trying to avoid Masumi.", Mary asked with a raised eyebrow as Masumi sat next to her while Ran and Conan sat across.
"Strength in numbers.", Ran said.
"The Organization won't be easy, and I'll need lots of people to help me, and apparently so many people want it burned down, so I think it's best if we all work together not separately.", Conan explained, "Strength in numbers.".
"Fine by me.", Mary nodded.
Masumi however was staring at Ran. All the time, she thought the girl didn't know and Conan was keeping his secret from her, but apparently she knew a long time ago, and was playing dumb in front of everyone.
Masumi just realized that Ran had fooled them all.
