Leap of Faith

I stood on the cliff above the mist. I watched the white clouds roam across the below me. The emerald of the grass breaking through the pale cover of the air. The words of the old man, the King, forming a heavy burden in my heart. If I couldn't save Hyrule then, a hundred years past, how can I save Hyrule now? I shook my head, I didn't explore this empty place to get cold feet after a few sad words from a tired, lonely old man, king or not.

My boots were soaked, after waling through snow and water, making my feet slowly numb from the cold and my head was pounding from my exhausting journey, travelling up towers and mountains. All on the whim of a sad, old would-be king.

The bitter wind stung my face. I was tired and cold. My limbs felt heavy, the soft bird song enchanting me away. My eyes fell on the castle. I suddenly felt like I had ash in my mouth, the sharp, cold air stinging my nose, the smell of the wilds calling out to me.

Scanning the land, I could see stables, ruins and creatures. All small as ants, with the castle, gripped in darkness, towering over them like a mighty colossus. Rage ensnared my heart, the once majestic land mark now a mere scar of it's former glory.

My breath stuck in my throat, lead filling my stomach as I looked down. The Paraglider gripped tightly in my hands. I took a deep breath. Everyone had waited long enough. I close my eyes, stepping forwards, as I took my leap of faith.

For the King.

For the Champions.

For Hyrule.

For Zelda.

How I wish to feel her smile shine on me once more.
