Chapter 13
By the end of the week, the two had finished Alya's costume and were almost done with Nino's. It was harder to make. However, Marinette showed the redhead her ingenuity by using some swimmies, usually used for little kids to float in the pool. She got different sizes and was planning on painting each one the different colors that were on the Bubbler's outfit.
The next outfit she was going to make was Kurama's. He had changed his from Guitar Villain to the Illvistartor. Instead of having his red hair short or cut like the Illvistrators, he decided to leave it long. Marinette liked the idea and so did Alya and Nino.
Soon the two weeks were up and it was time for the two week holiday.
Adrien had not been looking forward to it. He knew his entire time would be spent doing photo shoots. His father had been working on a new fashion line and wanted to have it out right after All Saint's Day.
Kuwabara was sad to hear this. He really wanted to spend some time with the blond. He hoped that maybe they could at least see each other once during the holiday. In the meantime, he figured he would just spend the time with his cat.
During the first week of the holiday, Marinette and Kurama worked on the finishing up Nino's outfit. It didn't take as long as the bluenette originally thought. She figured it was because of Kurama helping her out. They were able to start on the redhead's costume and had already finished most of it by the end of that first week.
They didn't spend all of their time working on the costumes. Marinette's parents took the teens out to dinner one night and they even went to the zoo on another day. It had been the first time in a long time since Marinette's father closed down the bakery for a day. It was a fun day for the group.
But during most of the week, Marinette and Kurama spent their free time with each other. When they weren't working on the costumes that is. It helped that by the start of the week of Halloween, they had everyone's costumes ready. Nino and Alya had even tried on their costumes and were impressed they fit them perfectly. She only used a few measurements and nailed it.
Kurama found the bluenette amazing. She wasn't just smart but creative. Every moment they spent together he learned more about her and found himself falling even more for her.
"Shuichi?"
The two were sitting in her room. Marinette was finishing up on her own costume. She had took Kuwabara's recommendation of dressing up as Stormy Weather. It was coming out pretty good. Kurama had already finished up his part. He had offered to do more but she had declined. He had brought a book to read.
However, it seemed he found watching her more interesting than the mystery book. Marinette looked at the red head with a slightly tilted head. He couldn't help but find her even more adorable looking.
"Yes Marinette?" he said with a smile.
The bluenette hesitated. She didn't know what to say. She had noticed the more they hung out, the more he would be looking at her. Marinette couldn't help but like the attention but didn't know what to think about it. The only thing she knew was she was finding herself falling in love with the redhead.
Marinette's feelings for Adrien had changed. She still cared for him greatly. He was her first serious crush after all. But that's all it was, a crush. What she was feeling now was similar to how she felt with Adrien but different where she believed he might like her back.
"Well..." she started.
Marinette really didn't know what to say. There really was so much she wanted to say. But she didn't have the courage to tell Kurama her feelings. It was times like these she wished she was Ladybug.
Ladybug wouldn't have been scared to share her feelings. Ladybug would have been bold enough to look into those emerald eyes. Ladybug would have demanded the redhead to kiss her, or she would kiss him herself.
Just that thought made Marinette blush.
"Never mind." she said before turning around and going back to finishing up the hemming of the skirt.
Kurama smiled before looking back at his book. He really hadn't been paying too much attention to the story. He didn't even know what the mystery was about and he had gotten into chapter six. The reason was the beauty that sat across the room. She was at her desk while he sat on her chaise. He couldn't help but watch her. She looked so adorable. From her tongue sticking out as she concentrated to her eyebrows furring as she focused on small stitches in the hemming. He could watch her forever if he could.
"Oi!"
Both teens jumped and turned towards the trap door that lead to the rest of the house.
Kuwabara was standing there, holding up the trap door.
"Do you guys wanna go out for a bit?"
Kuwabara didn't know what to do. He hadn't seen Adrien since the holiday started. He got a couple texts here and there but he found it nerve racking. There hadn't even been any akuma attacks either. It seemed even bad guys took holidays.
What didn't help was Kurama had spent most of his time with Marinette. Kuwabara really had no one to hang out with. He had tried to hang with Nino. That didn't work as most plans were cancelled. Either by Alya and he having a date. Or Nino having to watch his little brother, which Kuwabara would have been cool with if Nino's little brother hadn't kicked him in his shin. And he usually was good with kids.
Even Yusuke's calls weren't as frequent as he hoped. He had informed his best friend about the two week holiday. However, it seemed the former Underworld detective was too busy and had only called twice in that first week. It was the start of the second and other than a few family outings, Kuwabara did nothing. He had gone to the park a few times, by himself. He had played against the computer in the video game. He had even played with his cat, who seemed to also get sick of the attention. He was getting cabin fever and was even praying for an Akuma attack.
Because of that, he hadn't seen Chat Noir. He even took a few nightly walks in hopes of running into the feline hero. But Chat never appeared.
Marinette and Kurama looked at the carrot top with guilt. They had practically forgot about him. They had spent so much time together it was as if the rest of the world didn't matter. Kurama felt even worse because he had invited Kuwabara with him to go to Paris. They had only been there for almost two months and he spent most of his time falling for the bluenette. It was about time he acted like a better friend.
"That sounds like a great idea." Marinette said as she put down her skirt.
It would be good to get out of the house. She had only gone outside a few times during the holiday. That was during the daytime. She wasn't including her patrolling as Ladybug at night.
Kurama smiled at the bluenette.
Kuwabara's face lite up.
"We do ya wanna go?" he said, coming up into her room.
Both the bluenette and redhead turned to face the excited looking carrot top. Kurama couldn't help the smile on his thin lips.
"I don't know. Where do you want to go?" Marinette asked.
She hoped he didn't say the park. There was only so many times you could go there.
Kuwabara stood there in thought.
"Why not the Eiffel Tower?" the carrot top said with a grin.
It was one of Paris, if not Frances' well known landmark. It would be stupid not to visit it.
Kurama's smile widened.
"That's a wonderful idea. I did promise my mother to take a picture from inside." Kurama said.
Marinette smiled with a nod.
"Then let's go." she said standing up and stretching.
Kurama also stood up before heading towards the trap door. Kuwabara grinned before exiting the bluenette's room. He couldn't wait to do something else on the holiday. Marinette was right behind the two boys.
~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~
"One more!"
The blond sighed before forcing another smile on his face while changing his position. He had been taking photos in the Champ de Mars since seven o'clock that morning. He was sick of the flash of the camera. He was sick of being moved across the beautiful landscape underneath the Eiffel Tower. He was so hungry he felt as if he would eat off his own arm.
"Alright, that's it!"
Adrien let out a relieved smile before turning to his bodyguard. It looked like the big gorilla had enough of the photo shoot too. The two began to head back to the street. His bodyguard left to get the limo from a nearby parking lot.
Adrien stood there and ran his hand through his hair. He didn't have anything else for that day. He was so happy but felt so exhausted. He had been sleeping away his entire holiday. Well, when he wasn't at a photoshoot. The only time he went out was at night. But that was to patrol as Chat Noir with his Lady. Even that was boring. He never knew bad guys took holidays.
"Adrien?"
The blond blinked before turning to the voice. It sounded so familiar. His green eyes blinked for a moment before they recognized the three walking towards him. His face brightened at seeing them.
"Hey!" he shouted back with a wave.
"Rien, what are you doin' here?" Kuwabara asked as he was the first to reach the blond.
His face was bright and had a huge grin on his lips. Adrien reflected the grin.
"I just got done a photoshoot. What are you all doing here?" the blond asked, looking at Kuwabara for a moment before turning to both Marinette and Kurama.
Kurama glanced towards Kuwabara. He wasn't sure if the carrot top had planned this. Did Kuwabara knew that Adrien was going to be here, hence why he suggested the Eiffel Tower? That didn't seem like something the carrot top would do. But it seemed too much of a coincidence.
"We're here to check out the Eiffel Tower." Kuwabara said looking over to the tower.
"So what are you doing now that you are done?" the bluenette asked.
Marinette was happy to see the blond. She might not feel romantically towards him anymore but that didn't mean she didn't miss hanging out with him as a friend.
"I'm actually free for the rest of the day." Adrien said, his smile growing brighter.
Kuwabara felt his heart flutter at the smile. Oh how he missed the blond's smiles. It had been too hard to not hang out with the blond. They had texted a few times but with how many photoshoots Adrien had and how strict his father was with being on his phone, it was practically nothing.
"Did ya wanna join us?" Kuwabara asked, his brown eyes having a pleading look to them.
Adrien felt his heart skip at the look. He wanted to say yes.
It was here his bodyguard pulled up in the limo. Adrien frowned. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to hang out with them. Even the redhead. Adrien wasn't sure why Shuichi didn't like him. But he wanted to become friends with the redhead. Maybe even work out the tension that was between them.
Adrien knocked on the window of the limo. It rolled down and his bodyguard gave the blond a look.
"I know. I'm going to ask Nathalie but could you just wait for a moment?" Adrien asked.
He gave the blond a look before letting out a grunt. Adrien smiled. Apparently the grunt was a good grunt. Adrien pulled out his phone and took a step to the side.
Kurama frowned. He didn't want Adrien to join them. He didn't want Kuwabara to be spending any time with the blond. He didn't want Marinette to be near him either. Kurama didn't know what Adrien's feelings were towards Marinette or Kuwabara. Kurama wasn't even sure how Marinette felt towards the blond, let alone himself. He was hoping the bluenette didn't like the blond anymore.
Adrien came back to them with a wide smile on his face.
"I can stay out until five o'clock!" Adrien said, his heart fluttering with happiness.
It was only a little after one o'clock now. So that was a lot of time to spend outside and away from the practically empty house. Although, he didn't know what was up with his father lately. Mr. Agreste seemed to let go a bit on Adrien's 'leash'. He wasn't going to complain and just enjoy his new 'freedomish' life. He was going to turn 18 soon so that could possibly be the reason. The blond wasn't going to question it.
Marinette was happy the blond was joining them. Oddly enough, it wasn't for her. She actually found her crush was only that. Just a crush. After spending so much time with the redhead, she found herself more than smitten with him.
No. She was happy the blond was joining them because Kuwabara needed him. She had really gave up on Adrien when she saw how happy the two made each other. It was obvious the two might love each other and who was she to step between them? She had been taken it much better than even she thought. However, the bluenette figured it was because of the redhead. He didn't replace the blond. Adrien would still have some of her heart. The rest of it seemed to be reserved for Shuichi.
Kurama had to push back the frown that wanted to cross his thin lips. He really didn't want the blond joining them. The only thing stopping his frown was the look on his friend's face. Kuwabara's face had a glow that Kurama hadn't seen in a very long time. Who was he to take that look away from him?
Kuwabara was just so happy and felt like hugging the blond. He almost did. His arms went out however he stopped before quickly turning it to a fist bump. His face flushed but the grin stayed.
Adrien blinked. He could of sworn it looked like the carrot top was going to hug him. He flushed at the thought. He shook his head before returning the fist bump.
"So we were planning on going to the Eiffel Tower." Marinette said with a warm smile.
Adrien turned to Marinette with his own smile.
"I haven't been in the Eiffel Tower in a while." he said before lowering his head in thought.
"I wonder if he still works here..." he mumbled before turning to where one of the ticket booths and walked towards it.
The booth he headed towards didn't really have a line. Although, there weren't too many tourists this time of the year.
Everyone looked at each other, wondering who he was talking about. They followed behind the blond as he approached the ticket booth. Once the group reached the ticket booth it had no customers. Adrien walked up to the window. Once there, Adrien ginned and his green eyes sparkled with joy.
"Rick!"
Ocean blue eyes blinked before a smile crossed the slight tan teen's face. His hair was a dark brown that was short and shaggy looking. He looked at the blond from behind the desk at the booth.
"Adrien!" he said before poking his hand through the window and gave the blond a fist bump.
"It's been a while!"
"Yes it has! Wasn't it last year at my father's annual Christmas party?" Adrien asked.
"Yeah! So how have you been doing? I haven't seen you at Gabriel's Studio."
"Yeah," Adrien said rubbing the back of his head. "my father has been keeping me busy doing photoshoots. Not to mention school takes up my time."
The blond felt a bit bad. Rick was his only friends at the modeling studio his father owned. The other models were a bit older than him. Those that were his own age tended to hate him. He didn't blame them as they all believed he was only there because his father was Gabriel Agreste. Rick was the only model who liked Adrien for himself and thought he would have been a model even if his father didn't own the modeling studio.
"That's true." he said before noticing the rest of the group.
"So I'm assuming friends from school?"
"Oh yeah." Adrien said before moving to the side.
"This is Marinette," he said pointing to the bluenette.
"Hi." she said with a wave.
"Shuichi." Adrien said with a soft smile at the redhead.
Kurama looked at the boy behind the counter and gave a smile that could make a girl faint.
"Nice to meet you." the redhead said.
"And this is Kuwabara." Adrien said, his smile growing wide.
"Sup." Kuwabara said with a nod.
"This is Rick. He's my modeling friend." Adrien said with a wide smile.
"Hey." Rick said with a warm smile.
"We have to hang out sometime!" Rick added before printing out some tickets.
Adrien's eyes widened before turning to the brunette.
"What..."
"Just take it." Rick said with a wink.
Adrien blinked before smiling. He took the four tickets from the teen's hand.
"Thank you."
"Just don't be a stranger." Rick said with a smile.
Adrien gave him one back before stepping to the side.
"Thank you." Kuwabara said to Rick, a smile on his face.
Rick gave the carrot top a wide smile back.
"Any friend of Adrien's is a friend of mine." he said before turning to a customer that had gotten in line. "How many?"
The four went towards the entrance that was next to the ticket booth. Kuwabara looked around and saw it was just stairs.
"Hey, I thought there were lifts to get up to the top?" Kuwabara said a bit confused.
"Yes, but they are over there." Adrien said, pointing over to a very long line.
Kuwabara sweat dropped before turning back to the stairway.
"I don't want to ask but..." the carrot top began to ask.
"There are over 300 steps from here to the first level. And then 704 steps from the first to the second level." Kurama said with a chuckle.
Kurama had found the Eiffel Tower fascinating and had researched it on his free time, before he had came to Paris.
"No flippin' way!" Kuwabara said, his eyes widening.
"Didn't you say needed to get back into shape." Kurama said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, like do a coupla laps around the park. Not climb the freakin' Eiffel Tower like King Kong!" Kuwabara growled.
The three laughed at him.
"King Kong climbed the Empire State Building." Kurama said with a raised eyebrow but an amused look on his face.
"Yeah, well they're both tall buildings." growled Kuwabara.
This caused the group to laugh again.
After a few more chuckles, Adrien smiled up at the carrot top.
"It's actually better to go up the stairs. There are three floors and the lifts only take you to the second and third. The first floor is only reachable by the steps."
"Oh? Why's that?" Kuwabara said with a raised eyebrow.
Adrien shrugged.
"Not sure, but there are a lot of different things to do actually." Adrien said with a thoughtful look.
Kuwabara blinked at the blond.
"Really?"
"Yeah." Marinette said with a nodded catching the attention of the group.
"Only a few people know of it actually, which is a shame. The fact they don't want to walk back down to the first floor makes a lot of people miss the awesome things. It has a little museum of how the Eiffel Tower was built, a gift shop, and a Buffet. Not to mention,the Jules Verne Restaurant. It's named after the famous sci fi writer!" Marinette said, her blue eyes showing her excitement.
It really had been a long time since she had visited the monument. However, it was a bit too expensive for a high school student without a job.
"Really?!" Kuwabara said as his eyes widened.
"Also, there is a section on the first floor where you can walk on a see through floor." Adrien added with a wide grin.
"Well let's go!" Kuwabara said before heading towards the stairway.
The three laughed at him again before following behind him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~
"Are ya sure this is safe?" Kuwabara asked as he stood off to the side, looking down.
You could see through the floor! People walking right underneath you! It had a bit of a vertigo effect.
"It's safe, trust me." Adrien said from his spot on the see through floor.
Kuwabara gulped before cautiously taking a step onto the floor.
Adrien found it completely adorable yet funny at the same time. Kuwabara had faced akumas, he had stood up against Chloe, heck he shook his father's hand! However, here he was more scared of a see through floor then any of those. Well, Chloe wasn't that scary but still.
In the carrot top's defense, it was a bit nerve racking the first time you stood on the floor. So Adrien couldn't really blame him for being a bit scared.
Kurama stood next to Marinette. The two looked down below them. Marinette had been to the Eiffel tower plenty of times. However, she didn't really realize how beautiful the view was; despite the threat of falling to your death. But the floor was sturdy and safe so nothing to worry about.
"See?"
Kurama and Marinette turned to see Kuwabara standing next to Adrien. The blond had an amused smile.
Kuwabara had been staring straight ahead as he walked to the blond. So now he was looking into the green eyes and couldn't look away.
Adrien couldn't help but stare back into those brown eyes.
The two stood there for a moment before they blinked at the realization they had stared too long. Both looked away, with blushes on their faces.
Kuwabara looked down and his eyes widened. His mouth dropped before he dropped to the ground on all fours. This action made Adrien jump.
"This is so flippin' awesome!" Kuwabara said as he watched some people walk below him.
The blond blinked at him before laughing. The carrot top looked so cute at how in awe he was at the sight.
Kurama shook his head with a smile.
Marinette giggled behind her hand.
However, the moment was broken when the Eiffel tower shook.
Kuwabara's eyes widened before he shot up. His body went stiff and he could feel that evil presence.
"Crap..." he said before screams could be heard from one of the lifts.
Next Chapter Preview.
"Wait! Kur-ah Shuichi! We need to find Marinette and Adrien! They ran off!" Kuwabara said, inwardly grinning.
Chat's eyes widened for a moment as did Ladybug's eyes.
"I'm sure they are fine..." Chat said.
Adrien was safe anyway. He wasn't sure about Marinette.
"I think we should look for them!" Kuwabara said turning around and running in the direction the two teens had gone.
"Wait!" Chat and Ladybug said.
They looked at each other for a moment.
"Well, maybe we should go help look?" Ladybug said as she looked at Chat.
"Yeah." he said before taking out his baton.
The two rushed off to go de-transform.
Kurama rushed off after the carrot top but was able to catch up to him. Kuwabara stopped once the redhead reached him.
"Kuwabara..." Kurama said, giving the carrot top a look that couldn't be argued with.
Kuwabara gulped but nodded. He knew what the look meant.
"I'll tell you later." Kuwabara said giving Kurama a serious look at he made a cross over his heart.
See you all in the next chapter!
